Cisco ACE Module with Bluecoat Cache Proxy, Transparent and spoofing client IP
Hello Dears,
I'm trying to implement Cache loadbalancing through Cisco ACE Module.
I have 2 Bluecoat cache proxies, when i do configure transparent proxy without spoofing client IP, everything work properly, but when I enable spoofing client IP (reflect client IP address), clients are not able to access internet, although they are going to cache servers, I can see their sessions.
I'm afraid that I have a problem in the returned traffic PBR.
can anyone help please.
Thanks
Hi Ibrahim
I ahve reviewed the config. The ACE config is all god but I do see some issue with the switch side. If you are doing ip spoofing, then "match ip address" in pbr should be the client ip address. However, what you did is ip address between the ACE and MSFC. Try to configure the test client ip address into the below access-list.
msfc---vlan 265---ACE--vlan 264----CE farm
interface vlan 265
description Interface_With_MSFC_SUBS_2_INTERNET
ip address 168.168.1.52 255.255.255.248
access-group input PERMIT_ALL
service-policy input L3L4_PM
no shutdown
ip route 0.0.0.0 0.0.0.0 168.168.1.50
ip access-list extended HSDPA_2_CACHE
permit tcp 168.168.0.0 0.0.255.255 any eq www <<<-- wrong
ip access-list extended Internet_2_CACHE
permit tcp any eq www 168.168.0.0 0.0.255.255 <<<---wrong
interface Vlan 265
description Interface_With_ACE
ip address 168.168.1.50 255.255.255.248
route-map INTERNET_2_HSDPA permit 10
description "PBR for Response HTTP Traffic"
match ip address Internet_2_CACHE
set ip next-hop 168.168.1.52
route-map HSDPA_2_INTERNET permit 10
match ip address HSDPA_2_CACHE
set ip next-hop 168.168.1.52

Monitoring the Cisco ACE module with SNMP
We use 2 redundant Cisco ACE loadbalancer in our datacenter
The models are ACE20-MOD-K9 with software A2(2.0)
Does anybod know how to monitor the environment (cpu, memory) of such a module with snmp?
We were not able to find an applicable MIB for that module.
The CISCO-PROCESS-MIB.oid (ftp://ftp.cisco.com/pub/mibs/oid/CISCO-PROCESS-MIB.oid) seems not to reflect the correct oid's.
What are the correct oid's for cpu and memory?
Where can I find a detailed documentation for snmp-monitoring the cisco ace module?
thanksHi Patrik,
to monitor the ACE I use these two MIB's:
ftp://ftp.cisco.com/pub/mibs/v2/CISCO-SLB-MIB.my
ftp://ftp.cisco.com/pub/mibs/v2/CISCO-ENHANCED-SLB-MIB.my

Configuration of Cisco WLC 2504 with Local LAN static IP and DHCP
I want to configure Cisco WLC 2504 with Local LAN static IP and WLC 2504 with DHCP so that APs can be connect with controller.
Currently i am using WLC 2504 with DHCP so can anyone suggest how to do that..Hi Sandeep
The info is correct, if we're using code below 7.3.101.0.
This issue is fixed via the below bug id.
CSCto01390 Unable to ping AP's directly connected to a 2500 controller
check the fix that is updated on 7.4, 7.5 RNE.
http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/wireless/controller/release/notes/crn75.html
Note
Directly connected APs are supported only in Local mode.
http://www.cisco.com/en/US/prod/collateral/wireless/ps6302/ps8322/ps11630/data_sheet_c78-645111.html
For quick and easy deployment Access Points can be connected directly to 2504 Wireless LAN Controller via two PoE (Power over Ethernet) ports

Cisco ACE module missing licence file - no connectivity
Hi,
We have 2 ACE modules that were delivered without any licenses.
There is no IP connectivity whatsoever to these modules and I'm guessing this is due to the fact there are no licenses installed.
Have tried asking Cisco to no avail - and am not sure if there is an actual problem with them or not.
The VLANs are assigned correctly and I can see inbound ICMP echo from the 6509 that its hosted in, but no outbound packets ever leave the ACE. I've applied a mgmt policy to enable ping/telnet/ssh etc.

The ARP table for the adjacent switch SVI has a valid MAC upon reboot, but soon after resets to 00.00.00.00.00.00
Problem is that once Cisco eventually send me the license file I have no way of TFTP'ing it to the ACE module.
Any suggestions/advice?Thanks for the info - so I should at least be able to connect to a license-less ACE at least, but these modules seem to have a problem.
If the modules are reloaded (from the ACE) or reset (from the Supervisor) they initially have the ARP entry (however still cannot communicate to the attached Supervisor via SVI) which eventually resets.

Dear All,
I know this might have discussed here million times.. but still i am behind this to get this done due to BU pressure to do the capacity management.
I am trying to get the following using SNMP
1) Real Server
2) Real Server Current Connection
3) Real Server IP address
I tried it with following MIBs and OIDs
CISCO-SLB-MIB
slbRealServerFarmName .1.3.6.1.4.1.9.9.161.1.3.1.1.1
slbRealIpAddress .1.3.6.1.4.1.9.9.161.1.3.1.1.2
slbRealNumberOfConnections .1.3.6.1.4.1.9.9.161.1.3.1.1.5
CISCO-ENHANCED-SLB-MIB
cesRserverName .1.3.6.1.4.1.9.9.470.1.1.1.1.1
cesRserverIpAddress .1.3.6.1.4.1.9.9.470.1.1.1.1.4
cesRserverCurrConns .1.3.6.1.4.1.9.9.470.1.1.1.1.19
Either of these MIBs /OIDs return any value.
When i raise a TAC case i got the information saying these cannot be retrieved.
Is there any way i can get these values from ACE MODULE , because this is very much required for the BU and they are behind us since long time.
Apppreciate support from all.
thanks,
ParveesHi Parvees,
I wasn't looking for values you're interested in, but everything you can get with show command you can get via HTTP(s) request in XML using .
For example, here's a "sh serverfarm ServerFarm1" query:
$ curl --user USER:PASSWD -d "xml_cmd=CONTEXT\">xml-show on%0A show serverfarm ServerFarm1" http://ACE_IP_ADDRESS/bin/xml_agent
I'm running curl on linux box, but I think it is available on other platforms. The code above is a one-line command, but you can write scripts/lists of commands and send them to your ACE with curl.
Here's a link provided in a neighbour discussion that gives more information: https://supportforums.cisco.com/docs/DOC-17849
Hope this help,
Alex -
Cisco ACE compatiblity with F5 GTM
Hi,
We have cisco ace 30 modules installed in cisco 6500 switches. For application availability purpose from the internet, we need to have some global site selector/3rd party devices with similar feature set that of cisco gss.
My question is: whether cisco ace is compatible to ge tintegrated with other 3rd party devices like F5 GTM?
kindly sugegst..Good afternoon,
I'm not familiar with the GTM solution, but, as long as it's DNS-based like the GSS, it should be perfectly compatible. Bear in mind that the ACE is not aware on how clients are getting the IP address, it just replies to whatever connections it gets.

Are there any problems with Snow Leopard Server (Xserve) and PPC Clients
Hi,
are there any problems identified yet with Snow Leopard Server, installed on a Xserve and PPC Clients running Mac OS X Tiger and Leopard?
Currently I have a Xserve Intel running Leopard Server and about 12 Mac Minis PPC running Mac OS X Tiger and Mac OS X Leopard. The Xserve serves services like DNS, OpenDirectory, Software Update Server, NetBoot, etc. All users have Home Directories stored on the Xserve.
Now I want to install Snow Leoaprd Server on the Xserve, but I wonder if there are any problems using the PPC Clients? I have read something like this on a german website.
Thanks! We've actually found that the Server 10.6.3 DVD does an amazingly smooth job of upgrading 10.5.8. We've been upgrading our production servers and nothing has gone wrong yet. Snow Leopard employs an archive and install method of upgrading which results in an install which is very close to a clean install. So it's been very convenient for us because our servers are used as Windows PDCs and it's a pain in the *** to have to re-join all PCs to the domain if we start from scratch.

SMB Slow connection with upgrade to SnoW Leopard and Windows Clients.
<pre>
Dear,
I have now upgraded my MAC OS X LEOPARD 10,5,8 to new SNOW LEOPARD 10,6,2 and if some problems disappear I have a newer big one !
Now every time a Windows CLient try to connect to a SMB Share of SL server that take a long time about 10-15 seconds to open after that depending on client OS that could be nice for a moment (windows 7 and XP) or browsing stay very slow like for 2003 server connecting to Share on S.Leopard.
Could you please help me.
My SL are the main SMB share computer with all data it is connect like other clients to AD (SBS2003).
I have a SBS2003 server that are Master of Domain
and a Server 2008 acting like Terminal Server also member server of domain.
Here are kind of log I receive from SMBD.LOG: I suppose the Credentials problem when connecting are my explanation but how to avoid that !

</pre>Dear CarlosGBA,
So when you put 2 computers of your network in WORKGROUP in place of DOMAIN the 38 others works fine ? Strange ?
I have about 15 computers, some are already in workgroup other are linux smb other MAC, the data server are MAC OS X SL, the problem appear for all windows machines, I have try to dissable NTLMV2 and Kerberos since it is probably the faulty element with opendirectory, but always without success !
I don't know what I can do to trouble shout, I hope next release 10.6.3 come soon and correct about all SMB problem ! Probably a dream only ! Since I ask my self if Apple want to correct something andwhy is this problem let without solutionso long ! For a company it is a big problem.I suppose that Apple never read this forum and never answer our problem ! May be I should contact the support phone to be helped !
Thanks for you help. -
Hi, can anyone please explain how you can monitor the ACE module with XML. I've read the limited Cisco documentation about the XML interface and read posts about using curl but I don't understand how you combine the two to automatically extract the data. All I want to do at this stage is develop a web page that shows the result of show serverfarm to see what is up/down. Thanks for your help.
I've added an attached presentation that outlines the use of the ACE XML API that may also be of help.
Cheers,
David K. -
I am facing an issue with Cisco ACE module. Have 5 servers serving the connections for applications. However, during peak hours there is lot of dropped connections.
Also have lot of fragment reassemble.
Please help how to go ahead troubleshooting the issue.it is on the cisco site. In the ACE datasheet to be exact. But I'm talking about the appliance. Not sure about the module. But should be the same. Only thing I was not sure was whether the same limits apply to the base license package, or are the figures lower for the base license. Cisco says that the numbers are the same for the base package.
however I'm yet to verify it on the field -
Cisco ACE - Exempt HTTP URL from SSL Offloading
Hi,
I have a cisco ACE module A2 (3.6). I am offloading url www.abc.com on cisco ACE. HTTP redirection to https is working & over https I am able to browse website perfectly. real servers are redirecting some pages over http. Due to page redirection from webserver I have to exempt one URL (http://www.abc.com/modules/docs/abc.aspx) from ssl offloading. It is possible or as a work around i have to rewrite complete url www.abc.com as ssl port.
Your inputs highly appreciated.
Regards,Hi Masif,
In case you have not gotten assistance with this one, you just need to specify the specific URL and match it on top of the loadbalance policy that is already doing the redirection.
class-map type http loadbalance match-any No-Redirect
2 match http url /docs/abc.aspx
policy-map type loadbalance first-match ABC
class No-Redirect
serverfarm HTTP-Servers
class class-default
serverfarm Redirect
Hope this helps.

Lightroom crash in Develop module with RAW files with sidecar files from ver 3
The issue probably has to do with the differences in settings between the two versions but I figured I would document what I am experiencing.
I am using the 64 bit version of Windows 7.
I imported a group of pictures with the XMP sidecar files generated with Lightroom v3. All the image files, a mixture of Canon Mark 5D II RAW and jpg files from my point & shoot UFO camera, imported without issue picking up all my tagging and GPS settings. When importing you are put into the Library module and from the Library module I could click on any RAW or jpg file, look at the meta data and view full screen.
I then entered the Develop module with a jpg picture selected and none of my settings made it across. The process was set to 2012. I was able to try out the new adjustments and all worked very well.
I then selected a RAW file while still in the Develop module and all hell broke loose.
I got a tip window pop up, the film strip went orange, the rest of the app screen then became greyed out and then behind tip pop up a crash window containing this information appeared:

There was no other path but to have the app close after that. Now since Lightroom has left off with the RAW file in the develop module when I restart the app it starts in the develop module with that same RAW image selected and I crash before I can change to a jpg. I am probably going to have to delete and recreated the data file to use the app again
After the all this I went back and checked to see how I had the catalog settings in LR 3 set because there were no sidecar files for the jpg images. I did not have the option to write settings to jpg and tif files but did have write settings to sidecar set. So I have a bit of a mystery why I have no sidecar files for jpg files when I should have based on the way the settings were. This probably explains why I had no issues at all with them in LR 4.
I am going to get LR 4 working again and then import the same batch of pictures without any sidecar files and see if I have any issues. I will report back soon.
When I imported the files without the sidecar files I had no issues at all but the RAW images came under older process not the 2012 process. There were no settings without the sidecar files so why would the app not start the images at the most recent process level? I updated then to 2012 and some of the setting sliders changed. I tried all the adjustment might use with both RAW and jpg files and no issues were observed.
The new develop module does seem to light darker areas without impacting other lighter areas better. The brush toll does work better and I see some additional settings were added along with presets.
As I posted elsewhere, I am disappointed content aware fill and healing were not included. This is the functionality that would save me from going to Photoshop when I have some undesirable reality in an image.
I tried out the new geo coding functionality and I really like it as it beats using Google maps on the web (painfully slow these days), dropping latitude / longitude markers, copying and pasting the data from the markers into a Lightroom plug-in and then going through a time consuming three step process.Idem for me on Mac:
No problem to developp a RAW file from a D300 never develop before in LR 3 but when I enter a RAW file develop in LR3 into the develop module of LR4, Lightroom Crash. The report on Mac:

Hi,
I am trying to configure FT on ACE modules, with the following commands
ft interface vlan 20
ip address 172.16.20.1 255.255.255.252
peer ip address 172.16.20.2 255.255.255.252
no shutdown
ft peer 1
heartbeat interval 300
heartbeat count 10
ft-interface vlan 20
ft group 1
peer 1
priority 150
associate-context Admin
inservice
The moment I enter the command 'ft interface vlan 20', it gives a prompt that 'interface vlan20 is not associated with ft', how do I resolve this ? Do I need to enable something ?Hi have the following config which seems to be working fine for me... check your vlan20 interface is up

Cisco ACE A2(2.0) - webhost-redirection
Hello,
We are currently running the version ACE A2(2.0), pretty old one on Cisco ACE Module. We have applied webhost-redirection https://%h%p 302 but it doesn't seem to take effect and always go back to the host header value.
Is it a bug or a missing feature within A2(2.0) build ?
Please assist.
Thanks. Also is there a way to check in ACE logs as to what are the redirects taking place to identify any issues etc.
Thanks.
