CiscoWorks NCM 1.5 server disk full: How do I reclaim space?

We have NCM running on Redhat with mysql db. How do I reclaim some disk space?
We're getting this error for devices that NCM is trying to snapshot: The table 'RN_DEVICE_ACCESS_LOG' is full
The root partition is full:
df -h

Thanks for your suggestions. I have very little experience with mysql or cleaning up NCM.

I am not sure about NCM but I know for Cisco Prime Infrastructure if you are using a VM you can create a new disk via vSphere. When you reboot the system, Prime uses a script to allocate the new hard drive space to each partition. The one caveat is don't expand the existing HD or you will delete all of your data.

Here are some general tips to keep your Mac's hard drive trim and slim as possible
You should never, EVER let a conputer hard drive get completely full, EVER!
With Macs and OS X, you shouldn't let the hard drive get below 15 GBs or less of free data space.
If it does, it's time for some hard drive housecleaning.
Follow some of my tips for cleaning out, deleting and archiving data from your Mac's internal hard drive.
Have you emptied your Mac's Trash icon in the Dock?
If you use iPhoto, iPhoto has its own trash that needs to be emptied, also.
If you store images in other locations other than iPhoto, then you will have to weed through these to determine what to archive and what to delete.
If you use Apple Mail app, Apple Mail also has its own trash area that needs to be emptied, too!
Delete any old or no longer needed emails and/or archive to disc, flash drives or external hard drive, older emails you want to save.
Look through your other Mailboxes and other Mail categories to see If there is other mail you can archive and/or delete.
STAY AWAY FROM DELETING ANY FILES FROM OS X SYSTEM FOLDER!
Look through your Documents folder and delete any type of old useless type files like "Read Me" type files.
Again, archive to disc, flash drives, ext. hard drives or delete any old documents you no longer use or immediately need.
Look in your Applications folder, if you have applications you haven't used in a long time, if the app doesn't have a dedicated uninstaller, then you can simply drag it into the OS X Trash icon. IF the application has an uninstaller app, then use it to completely delete the app from your Mac.
To find other large files, download an app called Omni Disk Sweeper.
Download an app called OnyX for your version of OS X.
When you install and launch it, let it do its initial automatic tests, then go to the cleaning and maintenance tabs and run the maintenance tabs that let OnyX clean out all web browser cache files, web browser histories, system cache files, delete old error log files.
Typically, iTunes and iPhoto libraries are the biggest users of HD space.
move these files/data off of your internal drive to the external hard drive and deleted off of the internal hard drive.
If you have any other large folders of personal data or projects, these should be archived or moved, also, to the optical discs, flash drives or external hard drive and then either archived to disc and/or deleted off your internal hard drive.

Won't Start/ Start-up disk full/ How to open CD Tray manually

UGH. I was duplicating a catalog in Adobe Lightroom, and wasn't in the room. It tried to tell me that the start-up disc was full, but I didn't respond, and it came on several more times, finally crashing the computer. Now it won't start up. I get the chime, the grey screen with apple, then black screen with the following....

I THINK I need to get in and clear out some of the start-up disc. I tried to start it as a target, but it did nothing. If I could get the CD Tray out, maybe I could use my Disk Warrior, but I don't know how to do it manually- is there a Paperclip trick on the metallic G5s that have the sliding-down door?

You can eject the tray by holding the mouse button down while it boots. Try a USB mouse & keyboard if you have one, but a bluetooth one should work.
If the mac is booting correctly you should get a dialog asking you to pair the mouse & keyboard if the OS cannot detect one that is paired. I think some startup key combinations work via bluetooth.
A known working USB keyboard is really the answer if you need to trouble shoot startup issues I'm afraid.

Macbook Pro hard disk full, how do i store Movie files externally

I have just freed some space, as I was unable to add any new files or Apps.
How can i store my movies elsewhere? i am not bothered about a back up copy, just another storage area. I use them and play via PS3.
I think i have used about 250gb on my Internal HD.
So I bought a 2TB Buffalo Ext hard drive but cant make the Mac talk to it.

Are these movies in your iTunes library? If so, you can move the iTunes library to an external volume in the Finder and use iTunes -> Preferences -> Advanced to change the location in iTunes. Also, note that if they are movies purchased from the iTunes Store, you only get one download... so you'll want to keep them backed up, or if something happens to them, you'll have no choice other than to repurchase them (or not have them anymore)!
If they're not part of your iTunes library, just copy them over to the external drive and delete them from the external.

Startup Disk full error message but free space shows 87GB

Hi I have looked through these forums as much as I could but can't find the answer to this. I was working in photoshop CS6 and received the message that my startup disk was almost full. I had just cleared files the day previous and had 87GB of free space. So I restarted after emptying trash etc and tried to get back into photoshop but had the same message, checked my free space and it said 2gb. So I began my search here and saw the issue with .OfflineCache in mail but was never able to locate that file on my computer and after trying several things and failing I checked the info on my Mac hd drive again and it was back to 87gb yet message still coming. I have 8 Gigs of Ram, a 321 Gb hard Drive and running a Mackbook pro 13" with Mac osx Lion 10.7.5. Mid 2010.
Please Help!!

10.4 server disk quota not showing proper available space

i have a problem with 10.4 server which is installed on a powermac G5 2.5 Ghz System.
I have created users on the internal volume and have enabled disk quota on it.. i have given 30 gb for each users and totally i have created 3 users..
and when i access these users from the network, first time it shows the total volume availabe (my Hdd is 250 Gb) and when i restart the machine am getting only 2 gb as available volume space through the network..
I have tried updating to 10.4.5, still problem persist
can anyone help me in this

Start up disk full need help freeing up space.

My start up disk almost full. Shows 137 GB in "other category" Have been able to locate 75 GB but not 137GB. what makes up "Other"?

First, empty the Trash if you haven't already done so. Then reboot. That will temporarily free up some space. According to Apple documentation, you need at least 9 GB free on the startup volume for normal operation. You also need enough space left over to allow for growth of your data. Use a tool such as OmniDiskSweeper to explore your volume and find out what's taking up the space. Proceed further only if the problem hasn't been solved. ODS can't see the whole filesystem when you run it just by double-clicking; it only sees files that you have permission to read. To really see everything, you have to run it as root. Back up all data now. Launch the Terminal application in any of the following ways: ☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.) ☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens. ☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Terminal in the icon grid. After installing ODS in the Applications folder, drag or copy — do not type — the following line into the Terminal window, then press return:sudo /Applications/OmniDiskSweeper.app/Contents/MacOS/OmniDiskSweeper
You'll be prompted for your login password, which won't be displayed when you type it. You may get a one-time warning not to screw up.
I don't recommend that you make a habit of this. Don't delete anything while running ODS as root. When you're done with it, quit it and also quit Terminal.

HT3275 Time Machine says the backup is full, how to create more space on my time machine?

When i attempt to backup, time machine says that it does nto have enough free space to backup, how can i create enough space so that it will continue to backup?

Time Machine automatically deletes old snapshots when necessary to make room for a new one. If you're getting that message, it means that all your old snapshots have been deleted, and there is still not enough room to back up all your data. Either you must make some drastic exclusions from your backups, or you must back up to a larger destination volume.

How do I reclaim space after a spill

My SYSAUX tablespace have grown significantly becase of a spill.
STREAMS$_APPLY_SPILL_MSGS_PART is pretty large.

The procedure sys.purge_spill_txn doesn't exist (Oracle 10.2.0.3) in my database. So I couldn't purge the spilled transactions.
I can found Note 556183.1 on metalink.

How do i clear space on my startup disk

I am frequently getting error messages that my startup disk is full - how do I clear space so my system can run better?

A good tool to help with cleaning up a disk is OmniDiskweeper. It will tell you the files and folders that are taking up the most space.
The best candidate to pick are you own files generally located in Home.
Be very careful with system files because moving or deleting them can cause your system to stop running, If in doubt ask here about the files.

Use v$recovery_file_dest and v$flash_recovery_area_usage.

Instead of removing old archives manually, set the retention policy in rman and depending upon the recovery windows the old archives will be obsolete and u can delete obsolete files through delete obsolete.

I/O error during query then disk full on server

Hello,
I was trying to run a complicated select statement on a 11g release 1 Oracle server (using a mix of external and internal tables). While I was running the query, I noticed that the free disk space on my server was decreasing dangerously. The disk got full and the query stopped with an I/O error.
The problem now is how can I get back the space taken during the query?
I tried to shutdown/startup the database.
I tried several commands:
alter system flush buffer_cache;
alter system flush shared_pool;
But my disk is still full...

What is your temp tablepsace size is set to? You can always drop temp tablespace and recreate a new one and reclaim space to start process of shrinking some of the data files.
CREATE TEMPORARY TABLESPACE temp03 TEMPFILE
'C:\data02\temp03.dbf' SIZE 10M AUTOEXTEND ON NEXT 10M MAXSIZE 1024M;

FTP Server Won't Authenticate - since "Startup Disk Full"

We've been running a web server for several years, and use Dreamweaver and connect via FTP. It worked fine, until...
A few days ago, the system disk ran out of space, I moved a few GB off, and restarted. By that time, of course, a few applications had shut down, but came back up fine. Except FTP. It comes up, and I can connect. However, none of my user IDs will authenticate. I've stopped and restarted, twiddled with parameters, and tried to connect from multiple machines and multiple addresses, both inside and outside of our internal network.
No go.
Any suggestions on anything that might have been corrupted, locked, etc. that could be causing this?

I have had this happen after every Software Update (Major Release) and can see how it might happen with a disk full condition.
OK We either have an issue where it does not know how to authenticate you or that it has ZERO confuration info any more.
To figure out which is which I need a list of the following directory. Please post the output of this folder

ls -al /Library/FTPServer/Configuration/
As you will see in this folder are a few files. The one that is most important is ftpaccess. I suspect that yours is Zero (0) bytes. If so, the you can copy the one called ftpaccess.default into ftpaccees and that should get your ftp accessible again. Also you might have a file called ftpaccess~. That should be used in place of ftpaccess.default under every reasonable circumstance.
So to do this, issue the following command

sudo cp /Library/FTPServer/Configuration/ftpaccess~ /Library/FTPServer/Configuration/ftpaccess
(or if you only have .default
sudo cp /Library/FTPServer/Configuration/ftpaccess.default /Library/FTPServer/Configuration/ftpaccess )
That is a start if you still have issues pst them and we will sort them out with you.
