CKD Processes in automotive Industry

Hi all
We have to implement CKD processes in our company. I’ve searched about concepts of CKD and how they’re implemented in SAP software.
How does CKD concepts like Load, Kit,... are implemented in SAP software?
Now I want to ask you about:
How to implement CKD processes in SAP?
Would you list these processes?
Do we have these processes in SAP? and
Would you please help me to find any SAP documentation about CKD processes, Any SAP document or SAP best practices for this process?
Best Regards

Kind of depends on who the customer is and where in the world. Let's assume North America.
The OEMs and Tier ones typically send their suppliers X12 830's, usually with an X12 862 (but not always), and expect an 856 back, or an EDifact DELFOR, and usually a DELJIT, and expect a DESADV back.
830's usually mapped as DELINS or DELFOR Logical Idocs with E1EDP10-SCREL = 03, and end up on the Forecast Delivery Schedule tab of an SD Scheduling agreement.
If the 862's / DELJIT's just have dates and quantities, and maybe with a PO # at the header level, these are mapped as DELINS Idocs or DELJIT Idocs with E1EDP10-SCREL =02, and they end up on the JIT Delivery Schedule tab.
If the 862's contain RAN #'s, Delivery Order Numbers or Kanban numbers, these are mapped as SEQJIT Idocs and handled as Summarized JIT Calls.
Middleware might be from GXS/Inovis, Sterling/Gentran, Seeburger or Atos, for some examples.

• Role of Quality Management udring NPDI Stage for Automotive industry

Hi All,
Can anyone tell me how the quality requirements for automotive industry, during NPD stage can be addressed by mySAP PLM-Quality Management?
Best Regards
Guruprasad

Hello Isabelle,
Greetings! and thanks for the reply.
Can you please elaborate more on exit - QPL10001. I am not clear where the Inspection plan will be maintained and with what usage? How the inspection lot will get generated? is it need to trigger manually?
I will just explain the scenario in short- During New Product development, OEM can get the parts in 2 ways, one is from Supplier and another in-house production.
In case of supplier parts it comes as a sample part till finalisation of drawing and other aspects. At all stages during development, suppler part quality is throughly verified - dimenstionally, metallurgically, performace, endurance etc..
here am facing 2 main difficulties
1.Too many number of characteristics.
2.How the results recorded can be identified, later when moved to regular production? since the parts will be inspected against inspetion type 01.
Similarly, for MIW (made in works / in-house production) material / part is manufactured without using actual machines initially and hence there is no rate-routing and no inspection characteristics assigned to material.
In the later stage on the process is finalised and rate routing is maintaied.
Here am facing problem as,
1. No rate routing and hence no inspection characteristics initially at NPD.
2.And even if I maintain the inspection characteristics in rate routing, Since Auto industry follows repetetive manufactuing scenario, the Production order type - PP01 etc is not of use.
am trying with manual generation of inspection lot for material version - using MFPR...asking client to maintain the inspection characteristics in rate routing to cater the requirement.
I will really be glad if u could slightly brief - on how/ where to maintain inspection plan and how will the inspection lot will get generated?
Thanks a lot.
take care

• Usage of material variants in automotive industry

Dear Experts,
I want to understand the usage of material variants in an automotive industry (car or two-wheeler). Please provide the config settings required and also the usage of super BOM & Routing (if required) with the complete flow. I would prefer if someone can share the scenarios in a two-wheeler industry.
Thanks in advance.
Sameer

Hi Suresh,
Thanks for your answer.
1)We have about 9 characteristics. If we need to create material variants, around 200 material variants will be required to be created. Is that the best option?
2)If we select the first characteristic value, we want only those remaining chararacteristics to be available for selection which are related to the first characteristic. Likewise, we want to have control over the selection of each characteristic, till all the characteristic value selections are made in the sales order. Is it possible that a pop-up comes with the available characteristic options for that combination/s.
3)Can we make a super BOM for items selection? How can I control the selections from the super BOM? Can it be done via Object Dependencies? Routings are same for all the options.
Thanks in advance.

• Business Process Of Steel Industry

Hi Gurus,
Could any one explain me th Business Process of Steel Industry in detail please.
I will award points.
With Regards
Saeed Arif

hi,
The process will be:
If you want the material you wanna get from the vendor for the manufacting of the steel, then you can go for RFQ(request for quotations)...based on the Bids you can choose the vendor and then make the PO for the raw material...
The material which you want to procure shd have the MMR(Material master record) and for the vendor(Vendor master record)...
If you don't wanna go for the RFQ, then can also directly make a PR(Purchase requisition) and based on it you can make th PO...
Now After the PO, you can get the material and then you do goods receipt and then you pay to vendor via MIRO Invoice receipt...
This is a simple procurement process...
There could be few scnerios for the getting the finished product from the subcontractor and giving him the semi-fininshed productor...
SO here you use the subcontracting process also in the steel industry...
As the steel industry is a big industry and all the process can't compleated in the single location...SO for this you use the stock transfer/transfer posting scnerios...
For daily material req., instead of making the different Po via han, use can use the MRP process by which you can directly generate the PR//PO doc as per requirement get generated for the material...
like this there are n number of process which can be used in the steel industry also...

the best place to get an intial overview of the pharma business processes is to look at the solution map. This can be found here: http://www.sap.com/industries/lifesciences/index.epx . On the right there is an area called "SAP Business Maps for Life Sciences".

• Process Differences Across Industry Groups

Hello All
Under Automotive and Industrial Equipment, I would categorize industry groups as follows:
- Automotive
- Electrical / Industrial Equipment
- Heavy Equipment
- Consumer Durables
- Construction
All of them can be managed within SAP.
My question, what are the similarities and dissimilarities in the main FICO processes in the above industry.
Your opinion is valued and appreciated.
Regards
Suresh

hi nagarjuna,
An InfoPackage group is a collection of InfoPackages. In order to summarize data requests which logically belong together from a business point of view, and to therefore simplify the request, you can collect data requests (meaning the InfoPackages) into an InfoPackage Group. You can schedule each of these groups in the scheduler . With the data request the scheduler can access InfoPackage groups directly and thereby request more than one InfoPackage at a time, corresponding to the setting in the InfoPackage group. Thus, you can support InfoPackage groups with the serialization of your data requests.
While a process chain is a sequence of processes that wait in the background for an event. Some of these processes trigger a separate event that can start other processes in turn. hit this link to know abt PCs:
http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04/helpdata/en/8f/c08b3baaa59649e10000000a11402f/content.htm
Process chains are more comfortable becoz itz not like infopackages where we have to schedule each pack individually. And in PCs, monitoring is very convenient since u see evrything in a single page.

• Business Process for Paper Industry

Dear all
I have done a business process study for a paper industry.Where they have different varieties of paper which has different variants GSM,BF- Bursting Factor,Shade & Width.
Generally the customer orders are grouped to match the Dekle size(Paper Width) and the manufacturing program is designed manually according to the width of the paper. After production the goods are despatched to corresponding customers.
They have a power plant to produce Power & by product steam .The Power generated is used for home consumption as well as they do sell the power.
Can anybody suggest me a good process to map the power plant and Paper plant.
Expecting your suggestions for Planning the manufacturing according to width wise and production execution for different customer orders.

Edited by: Jay Shankar.A on Apr 18, 2008 8:09 AM

Hi,
For the Paper Industry, IS-Mill will be best suited.
All your Scenarios will be covered with this.
Depending upon your Width: You can combile your Sales Order/Production Orders (Order Combination)
The Big Bundle of PAper which you get at the end of the process you can have the Original Batch concept.
Your settlement will be as per your Sales Order quantity.
For better understanding of the processes refer below link:

• Sample Creation Process in Textile Industry

Dear All,
I had come across to a requirement that client wants to record different specifications of Products while creating a sales Order.Like Product Design, Thread Color & Design, Specifications of Threads, Customer name, Any Special Comment for Product or for Customer requirement.
And where is am not using Variant Configuration.
Waiting for your replies.
Rajesh Kumar

Hi Rajesh,
Your requirement is clear in your first post itself. These type of requirements are addressed better through variant configurations. Defining two ways Go with the best.
WithVC:
Define one material KMAT and maintain the super BOM, Dependencies etc.
Product Design,Thread Color & Design, Specifications of Threads, Customer name needs to be created as characteristics and accordingly values to be defined. Eg : Values for design - Design A, Design B etc.
Any Special Comment for Product or for Customer requirement as production memo text
In sales order creation as per customer wish list you can select and process the production cycle.
Advantage is once you make this setup..production cycle will flow for 'n' number of customer requirements/trials
Without VC:
Create new material every time for sample production with strategy as 20. Assign material class 001 for maintaining the specifications in material master.
As suggested earlier and also as suggested by expert, you need to maintain the related information in production memo as text for the production people to understand the requirement during manufacturing.
Run MRP MD50 and comvert the planned to order and execute the production cycle.
Every reply you have option to give helpful answer and correct answer. Mark helpful answer if something helped you and mark correct answer which you feel correct.
Thanks & Regards,

• Business Process for Cement Industry

Hello all,
I am an Indonesia
I am new to SAP
I just graduated from college, now I work in a cement company
The company uses SAP, I was placed in the department of business processes
Without going through the training process, I was asked to understand the business processes in SAP that they use. They gave me access to the development server.
But it's still hard for me to understand the business process.
Can anyone help me? from where I had to start
I apologize if any mistakes...
Thanks..

Hi
That is ot correct to udnerstand the business process from SAP. it is difficult.
your company needs to provide the existing Business Process scenarios and how are they mapped to SAP with all scenarios documentation. Then, it would become easy for understand and digest and take care of issues.
Thanks,

• Enhancement for Sales process in FMCG industry

Dear Experts,
I have a requirement for Cross Selling at my client. I have seen several posts in SDN but I have not found the exact solution for my requirement. Kindly suggest as per my requirement.
The requirement is as follows:
My client sells Materials A, B and C. All these 3 materials are individual finished goods that can be sold independantly. Now there is a scheme in the company that if a person purchases 10 quantity of material A, then 2quantities of material B and 1 Quantity of material C also goes freely along with material A. and if he purchases 20quantity of material A then 5Quantity of material B and 3 Quantity of material C is given freely along with material A in the sales order. This is the requirement.
For this I have tried to use Cross-Selling Concept. I was able to configure for cross selling and made the item category as not relevant for pricing. The most important criterion is that the client wants the quantity to come automatically in the sales order. They dont want to enter the free materials quantity manually. So can you kindly suggest me on how to configure this.
Then there is a second requirement. The Base price of Material A has to go to the revenue G/L account while the Base Price of the Free material should go to a different G/L called Schemes Base price G/L. The 100% discount I give on the free material will go to the Business promotion G/L. I can use a separate document type if it was only scheme sales exclusively. But here it is a combination of scheme sales plus ordinary sales. Kindly suggest me on this too.

I have achieved this with the help of my ABAPer by creating a table for this.
I am now closing this thread
