Clarifications on Aurora Entity Mappings

If we develop interfaces on different machines and in different schemas and later we want to import the whole set of master and work repository into a single repository ,Is it possible what we need to do at ODI level to achieve this.

As Sutirtha mentioned, its doable as long as you are aware of Repository ID limitations on uniqueness.
However, as a best practice, you should try to limit the number of environments in which you would want to perform development.
Also, if the movement of object is in one direction only, then its ok.
Otherwise it may sound easy to move objects across but when you have a lot of to-fro movement of objects, that is surely going to result in collision of IDs

  • EclipseLink + JPA + Generic Entity + SINGLE_TABLE Inheritance

    I was wondering if it's possible in JPA to define a generic entity like in my case PropertyBase<T> and derive concrete entity classes like ShortProperty and StringProperty and use them with the SINGLE_TABLE inheritance mode? If I try to commit newly created ElementModel instances (see ElementModelTest) over the EntityManager I always get an NumberFormatException that "value" can't be properly converted to a Short. Strangely enough if I define all classes below as inner static classes of my test case class "ElementModelTest" this seems to work. Any ideas what I need to change to make this work?
    I'm using EclipseLink eclipselink-2.6.0.v20131019-ef98e5d.

    Short answer: No, it shouldn't work as the underlying database field type would be constant.  So either the Short or the String would have problems converting to the database type if they both mapped to the same table field.

    I have noticed that the persistence.xml file have changed quite drastically from the version we had in TP4 release during project upgrade, but can not explain the problem we are getting. I have also tried to just create a dummy project and create a persistence unit, and the file looks exactly the same afterwards. Any thoughts?
    Drikus

    Just thought I would add a temporary solution to the problem for those of you sitting with the same issue.
    In the root folder of your application you will find a src folder with a meta-inf folder and weblogic-application.xml inside.
    Add the following before the closing weblogic-application tag...
    <xml>
    <parser-factory>
    <saxparser-factory>
    weblogic.xml.jaxp.WebLogicSAXParserFactory
    </saxparser-factory>
    <document-builder-factory>
    weblogic.xml.jaxp.WebLogicDocumentBuilderFactory
    </document-builder-factory>
    <transformer-factory>
    weblogic.xml.jaxp.WebLogicSAXTransformerFactory
    </transformer-factory>
    </parser-factory>
    </xml>
    If there wasnt an xml tag in the file, it seems that JDeveloper somehow adds one on the fly for you pointing to an oracle xml parser that does not contain the setSchema method required by weblogic on deployment.
    Hope this helps anybody else that has this problem.

    Thanks,
    John Carlson

    We also had this problem. We have changed the TransactionManager.
    Replace the JPATransactionManager with the JTATransactionManager.
    <bean id="transactionManager" class="org.springframework.transaction.jta.JtaTransactionManager" />
    If you are using JTA you can't use the JPA Transaction Manager. It doesn't support JTA.
    Found it on a forum of Spring. (http://forum.springframework.org/showthread.php?t=48191)

    The above URL shows example of simple xml.
    Please can I get assistance.

    I too received this error as I tried to run my first Windows 8.1 deployment. Per another post I commented out this line
    <IEWelcomeMsg>false</IEWelcomeMsg>
    from the IE section of the unattend.xml. I was then able to run my deployment. I do not see this line in your posting though.
    I referenced this link even though it was for Windows 7.
    http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/c41a2b69-a591-4cd3-86ab-6a0f8a73b858/getting-windows-could-not-parse-or-process-the-unattend-answer-file-for-pass-specialize-with?forum=mdt
    Hope this helps someone.

    To clarify, I edited the unattend.xml file from from Deployment Share, not C:\Windows\Panther.

    It seems that EclipseLink is not able to extract correct fields mapping information for keys since the key fields are inside the EmbeddedId object.
    Is there anything wrong in entity mappings (I was able to solve my problem with patching of EclipseLink)?
    Thanks in advance
    Denis

    Hi Gordon,
    Thanks for your answer. Actually, I used my own 1-line patch like this (is it wrong?):
    org.eclipse.persistence.descriptors.CMPPolicy
    for (int index = 0; index < pkElementArray.length; index++) {
    KeyElementAccessor accessor = pkElementArray[index];
    DatabaseMapping mapping = getDescriptor().getObjectBuilder().getMappingForAttributeName(accessor.getAttributeName());
    // begin of patch
    if (mapping == null) {
    mapping = accessor.getMapping();
    // end of patch
    Object fieldValue = null;
    if (mapping.isDirectToFieldMapping()) {
    Thanks in advance
    Denis

    Thank you in advance, and sorry for my "still in progress" English

    There is not yet any built in support for this.
    What I have been doing is configuring JDev to understand the orm.xml schema so that when editing the file with JDeveloper it can assist me on the available elements and attributes as well as a default structure.
    JDeveloper :: Tools -> Preferences -> XML Schema -> Add
    jar:file:/C:/oracle/10.1.3.1/preview/jdev/toplink/jlib/toplink-essentials.jar!/orm_1_0.xsd
    Now when you wish to create an orm XML instance document in your project you can use:
    New -> General -> XML -> XML Document from Schema
    Select "Use Registered Schema"
    Select the ORM target namespace: http://java.sun.com/xml/ns/persistence/orm
    This will give you a basic orm.xml file properly configured which you can then use to define your mappings.

    I am using all the latest jar's and did't understand why i am getting this error. If any one had got the same type of errors please let me know how to solve this issue.
    Thank you.

    First are you using JPA and a persistence.xml with TopLink (TopLink Essentials was the JPA provider I believe) or are you using native TopLink with a sesssions.xml?  WIthout entity changes to support lazy relationships (such as weaving if using JPA) lazy relationships will only work for collection mappings - but these are already set to default to lazy,  If it is JPA, you can configure your entity mappings to be Lazy through annotations or an orm.xml file and let weaving work on your entities, while if using Sessions.xml, you need to make changes to the entities themselves to support lazy relationships as well as set the mappings to be lazy.  This is called indirection in TopLink, and is described here: Understanding Relationship Mappings
    If you are using JPA and a persistence.xml, the migration to EclipseLink should be fairly easy.  See https://wiki.eclipse.org/EclipseLink/Examples/JPA/Migration/TopLinkEssentials for details
    Otherwise it may require package renaming and ensuring that the project was not using deprecated classes, but still should not be too complex.  Migrating from Native TopLink | EclipseLink 2.4.x Understanding EclipseLink has instructions and details.
    If this is not enough to go on, please give more details on what you have.

  • TopLink 10g Cascading Issue

    How can I make the default read behavior of each Entity set to **lazyloading** in TopLink 10g?
    We're using TopLink 10g in an application which is being used by 1000s of customers everyday. I'm also looking to find a good and safe way to migrate from TopLink 10g as there are very few stuffs available about TopLink 10g and those who were using it already migrated to EclipseLink/JPA or TopLink 11g-12g. We also have to do the same, but that will be a long-term goal. Please share your experiences regarding migration from TopLink (10g).
    Although, for now, we need to fix a problem (which would be a quick-fix instead of migrate from TopLink 10g). The problem is; One of the TopLink Entity read also getting (querying) all of its associates (child Entities) which is causing too many unnecessary queries to the database. However, we solved this problem by using `ObjectCopyingPolicy`:
        ObjectCopyingPolicy objCopyingPolicy = new ObjectCopyingPolicy();
        objCopyingPolicy.setShouldResetPrimaryKey(false);
        objCopyingPolicy.cascadePrivateParts();
        someEntity = (SomeEntity) getTopLinkTemplate().copy(getTopLinkTemplate().readById(SomeEntity.class, new Long(someId)), objCopyingPolicy);
    The aforementioned code snippet is one of the resolution to solve such a problem. But, we'd like to solve this problem by configuration (persistence.xml etc.). There is nothing in the documentation, neither I found anything by googling it.
    Please let me know if you would require more details to answer this question.
    Good Day!

  • Why are no foreign keys generated with inheritance?

    I have a very simple ORM strutcure that I am trying to create with JPA, using inheritance. The two tables get created, but there is not PK-FK relational link between them generated. I know they CAN be generated, because I have other relationships (not using inheritance) where it works.
    Could someone please look at these listings and tell me what I am doing wrong? Thank you!
    I have this property set in persistence.xml:
      <property name="kodo.jdbc.MappingDefaults" value="ForeignKeyDeleteAction=restrict"/>
    Here's the base class:
    @Entity(name = "Sensor")
    @Table(name = "SensorRecord")
    @Inheritance(strategy = InheritanceType.JOINED)
    @DiscriminatorColumn(name = "SubType", length = 100)
    public abstract class Sensor {
        @Id
        @GeneratedValue
        @Column(name = "RecordId")
        private long recordId;
        //@Basic
        @Temporal(TemporalType.TIMESTAMP)
        @Column(name = "Timestamp")
        private Date timestamp;
        /* JPA uses a version field in your entity to detect concurrent
           modifications to the same datastore record.
           The version field must be an integral type ( int, Long, etc) or a
           java.sql.Timestamp. You should consider version fields immutable. */
        @Version
        private int version;
    Here's the derived class:
    @Entity(name = "Altimeter")
    @Table(name = "AltimeterRecord")
    @DiscriminatorValue("Altimeter")
    public class Altimeter extends Sensor {
        @Basic
        @Column(name = "Altitude")
        private int altitude;
    And finally, here's the (redundant) orm.xml:
    <entity-mappings xmlns="http://java.sun.com/xml/ns/persistence/orm"
        xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance"
        xsi:schemaLocation="http://java.sun.com/xml/ns/persistence/orm orm_1_0.xsd"
        version="1.0">
      <!-- declares the default access type for all entities -->
      <access-type>FIELD</access-type>
      <entity class="navdemo.persistence.Sensor" name="Sensor" access="PROPERTY">
        <table name="SensorRecord"/>
        <inheritance strategy="JOINED"/>
        <discriminator-column name="SubType" length="100" discriminator-type="STRING"/>
        <attributes>
          <id name="recordId">
            <column name="RecordId" column-definition="BIGINT"/>
            <generated-value strategy="AUTO"/>
          </id>
          <temporal value="TIMESTAMP">
            <column name="Timestamp"/>
          </temporal>
          <version name="version"/>
        </attributes>
      </entity>
      <entity class="navdemo.persistence.Altimeter" name="Altimeter" access="PROPERTY">
        <table name="AltimeterRecord"/>
        <discriminator-value>Altimeter</discriminator-value>
        <attributes>
          <basic name="altitude">
             <column name="Altitude"/>
          </basic>
        </attributes>
      </entity>
    </entity-mappings>

    Hi,
    well I suggest to use the InputMap/ActionMap approach.
    Something like this should work:
        private void installMyActions() {
            CloseAction closeAction = new CloseAction("closeAction");
            installMyAction(closeAction, KeyStroke.getKeyStroke("ESC"));
        private void installMyAction(AbstractAction action, KeyStroke keyStroke) {
            getInputMap(JComponent.WHEN_IN_FOCUSED_WINDOW).put(keyStroke, action.getValue(Action.NAME));
            getActionMap().put(action.getValue(Action.NAME), action);
        class CloseAction extends AbstractAction {
            public CloseAction(String name) {
                super(name);
            public void actionPerformed(ActionEvent e) {
                dialog.setVisible(false);
        }Hope that helps,
    Michael

    1) Remove the "private static final long serialVersionUID = 1L;" from all pojos.
    2) There should not be white space in persistence.xml inside <class> tag.
    3) Change the JTA datasource from NON-JTA datasoucre.

    But still i am getting the same error.
    Please verify the problem and suggest me a possible solution.
    Please help me.. Please..

    Hai jsutherl, Thank you for reply..
    Right now cannot upgrade my project from toplink to eclipselink.
    Because my project was an huge application. where i am using nearly 250 actionclasses and dao.
    I already tried to migrate, but the package structures are completely different. so, i am unable to figure out this packages path.
    So, as per your suggestion, i had renamed my orm.xml to mapping.xml file.
    But when i am running the application then the below error was throwing....
    19:03:30,149 INFO [STDOUT] [TopLink Warning]: 2013.05.01 07:03:30.119--java.lang.NullPointerException: null was thrown on attempt of PersistenceLoadProcessor to load class env.model.masters.IptNotifications. The class is ignored.[here IptNotifications is a database pojo refrence class where the db table name is IPT_NOTIFICATIONS]
    The above same kind of error was throwing to all my pojos [i.e. Database table refrence classes]

  • Using XML files to define entities in JPA

    I've read a number of books, articles, webpages, etc that all state that entity mappings to a DB can be done in XML files, much like Hibernate allows the use of HBM files. What I haven't found is any example of those files and how to write a persistence.xml file for that scenario. I have an old Hibernate-based app that uses HBM files instead of annotations. I would like to convert to the JPA standard, but still use some sort of XML mapping file.
    Any hints?

    Hi there! I'm looking for resources on this myself. I did come across the schema for doing the mapping, but I have yet to find any real examples for how to use it.
