Classcast Exception in Web  Logic 5.1

          Hi , I am trying to Deploy a application in WebLogic 5.1 as Web app . I have directory structure like WEB-INF/classes and Web.xml files. I can fire application also. The Application first goes from html to Servlet and control goes to JSP page. In JSp page when i refferring the varibales of servlet. It is giving problem of java.lang.classcastException. I have set the classpath in Startweblogic file also. Still it is giving problem

  • How to share dependant jars across rars & ears / avoid classcast exceptions

    <b>How can one share dependant jars between a ear application and a resource adapter and avoid getting a ClassCastException? </b>
    <P>
    In some appservers(such as Oracle) the resource adapter is the parent of your ear classloader, so a single instance multiple classloader problem doesn't occur. But in some appservers such as BEA Weblogic this isn't the case. Not sure why BEA decided to make resource adapter class loader seperate and not the parent of ear loader...
    <P>
    If I bundle the resource adapter specific classes in the corresponding module archive file, I will get a class cast exception, becos I will have a <i>single instance and multiple class loader situation</i> (assuming resource adapters uses its own classloader).
    <P>
    Second question related to the above: Web logic documentation recommends that we bundle the common files in APP-INF direcotory for embedded resource adapter apps. If I start bundling the resource adapter in an ear file, for every ear app we will have a rar bundled. What about the JNDI names? won't you have to rename the resource adapter differently for each ear so that there is no jndi name clash? Doesn't this defeat the purpose of having one common connector for all apps?
    <P>
    Here is a detailed description of what I want:
    Let say you have a ear file. Let's say there is a common.jar shared between your ear application (say the ejb module uses it), and your resource adapter.
    <P>
    In the case of Oracle's OC4J I can see there won't be any problem of having this common.jar part of the resource adapter(RA). When the RA class loader loads the rar, it makes sure the common.jar files are accessible in the chain of all class loaders it is a parent of. So, the ear loader, ejb loader etc...will have visibility -> hence no class cast exception.
    <p>
    But what do clients do when they want to have their ear deployable across multiple appservers not just oc4j. BEA recently changed their class loader structure...their resource loader is no longer parent of the ear, so the ejb app in the ear doesn't have visibility into common.jar packaged with rar. So, the only solution was to bundle the common.jar file with the ear. But this causes problems, because we can have a situation where certain object instances (that are not serialized or copied) can be shared across class loaders. This ends up in the single instance multiple class loader situation->hence classcastexception.
    <p>
    The only solution I found was to make the common.jar file a shared library. That way only one copy of the class files are there for both the rar and the ear and its visibility is there not only for rar but for ear since it is loaded by the system class loader or shared library class loader (if ther eis one such).
    <P>
    Please convey best practise recommendation.

    Is there a way to have a non-EJB jar at the EJB classloader level ? Sure, just add it to the Class-Path: manifest entry in your ejb.jar.

  • Web Logic 10.3.6 (64bit) - Could not load the sitemesh filter and library

    Installed Web Logic 10.3.3 (32bit) and Java JDK 1.6.0_21 (32bit) in a customer's server (Windows Server 2008 R2 and 64-bit Operating System). The web page can be displayed with header and side menu.
    However installed Web Logic 10.3.6 (64bit) and Java JDK 1.6.0_31 (64bit) on that same server. The web page cannot be displayed with header and side menu, it is just displayed with a blank background. Refer to the below "ERROR LOG", found the application could not load the sitemesh filter and library properly. We are using sitemesh-2.3.jar.
    Have tried installed Web Logic 10.3.6 (64bit) and Java JDK 1.6.0_31 (64bit) in a test server (Windows Server 2008 R2 and 64-bit Operating System). The web page can be displayed with header and side menu.
    Please assist on this issue. Thanks.

    I am suspecting if it has to do anything with the native libraries being loaded JAVA_LIB_PATH.
    Please review the server log file again for identifying differences in LIB_PATH or PATH or any messages saying "Unable to load native.. performance pack.."

  • EJB 3.0 JNDI lookup results in Classcast Exception

    Hello everybody,
    Im experiencing a strange problem when I want to retrieve a stateless session bean from a POJO in my enterprise app. I am using EJB 3.0, running on Glassfish build 33 and JDK 1.5.
    I have successfully deployed my ear file which has the EJB.jar and the war file in it. Im using JSF 1.2 in the web app and I am able to use all session beans using the injection annotation in my managed beans (this is how it is supposed to be according to the spec.). However, I now need to acces a stateless session bean from a POJO (non-managed or backing bean) which resides also in the war file. Im using the following code to retrieve the session bean:
    (where IMySessionBean = remote interface and MySessionBean is the implementation)
    try {
    ic = new InitialContext();
    MySessionBean mybean = (MySessionBean )ic.lookup("env/IMySessionBean");
    When casting the object from the lookup into MySessionBean I get a classcast Exception. However, I can see the session bean using the JNDI browser that comes with Glassfish and its deployed and available. If mybean is of type Object, I see that the lookup method returns a wrapper of my session bean.
    Heres what the stacktrace says:
    java.lang.ClassCastException: com.myproject.ejb.interfaces._IMySessionBean_Wrapper
         at ...
    Do I miss something here and theres more required to obtain a reference to the session bean? Im pretty much stuck here and any help is greastly appreciated!
    Thanks in advance!
    Cheers,
    Joerg

    Hi Joerg,
    In the session bean client view, the bean implementation class is never used. The client
    only interacts with the local or remote interface.
    Regarding the lookup, the more portable approach is to
    lookup the ejb reference through the component environment of the web application
    rather than doing a direct global lookup. If you have already defined any ejb reference
    injections somewhere in the web app, you can look up the same dependencies via
    java:comp/env. For example, if your managed bean has the following @EJB annotation :
    @EJB(name="mybeanref") IMySessionBean beanRef;
    You can look up the same underlying dependency in your utility class :
    IMySessionBean beanRef = (IMySessionBean) new InitialContext().lookup
    ("java:comp/env/mybeanref");
    Note that the portion of the lookup string after java:comp/env/ comes from the name() attribute
    of @EJB. @EJB name() has the same semantics as the ejb-ref-name in the deployment
    descriptor. You can find more info on these topics in our EJB FAQ :
    https://glassfish.dev.java.net/javaee5/ejb/EJB_FAQ.html

    Hi everybody,
    Currently i am deploying a 11g ADF application, i am testing my application in a Web Logic 10.3.2.0, and in the beginning all works OK, but when the user test the application like a half of hour the data source throws this exception:

    Hi,
    from the original post it is not obvious from where the code is called and if the AM is released properly. So if you face the same issue, maybe you can explain more

    I have signed all jar files in \forms\java and \Oramw11gdev\asdev1\jlib and confirmed that they are correctly referenced in registry and default.env. I also verified all jars. Still error is there.
    Haven't seen this problem with forms 10g.
    Any suggestions?
    Env: Win7/32bit, Oracle Forms 11g, Java 1.6, Forms Builder v.11.1.1.3.0; Java Plug-in 1.6.0_18
    Using JRE version 1.6.0_18-b07

    I got the same problem before with clients not on the same domain of the forms server so I found out that the ports 7001 & 7002 were the problem; that requesting the full machine name is not successful using these ports (machine.localdomain.com) so what I did is to join those clients to the domain and if you don't want to join those machines to domain change the web logic deployment port to 8888 .... it worked for me .... I hope this helps you

    I already installed the JDK 7 64 (jdk-7u2-windows-x64) and use the generic file to install the Web Logic Server (wls1035_generic)

    Thank You,

    Note that you are using the HotSpot JDK. The option -jrockit is only valid if you are using JRockit.
    When you open setDomainEnv.cmd you see something like:
    if "%JAVA_VENDOR%"=="Oracle" (
         set JAVA_HOME=%BEA_JAVA_HOME%
    ) else (
         if "%JAVA_VENDOR%"=="Sun" (
              set JAVA_HOME=%SUN_JAVA_HOME%
         ) else (
              set JAVA_VENDOR=Oracle
              set JAVA_HOME=C:\bea\jrockit_160_29_D1.2.0-10
    )which selects a certain JDK based on the set JAVA_VENDOR property.
    You add the property JAVA_VENDOR above the first if statement, for example,
    set SUN_JAVA_HOME=
    set JAVA_VENDOR=Sun
    if "%JAVA_VENDOR%"=="Oracle" (...)Also see if the SUN_JAVA_HOME property is set to the correct directory.

  • Oracle Map Viewer Application on Oracle Web Logic

    We have developed an application using map viewer, Oracle 10g and deployed it in Oracle AS 10g. It was running fine and OK. Now we switched over the same application to Web logic10.3, using map viewer 10.1.3.3, Oracle db11g, JDeveloper 11g. We could deploy successfully on Web logic. The problem encountered is that During the map display (mapviewer.run()), an exception “Map viewer cannot process your map request. Check map viewer log for details.” is coming. We checked Map viewer log file and found no comments.

    If your web server is working and the forms server is running type:
    http://ip addr:port/dev60html/runform.htm
    You need to put the ip address or name of your server in and the port number apache is running on (leave blank if this is 80).
    This gives you the Oracle Forms start screen.

  • Getting class cast exception in Web application.

    I have a web application deployed using standard specs for deployment. I
              have and web-inf directory with a web.xml file set up. All the servlet
              classes are in the classes sub-directory of web-inf.
              If I deploy this application using the Tomcat application server,
              everything works as expected. When I deploy this application using the
              Weblogic software, I can get to the initial page, put once I select a
              link that calls the main servlet, I get a classcast exception. Both the
              Tomcat and Weblogic software point to the same directory for the
              application.
              I double checked and made sure that no other instances of my servlet
              classes exist anywhere else in the class path.
              Any one have any thoughts or suggestions. I am perplexed that this web
              app runs fine under the Tomcat software and yet...
              Thanks.

    Thanks for your reply. I am not using any EJBs. From what I have
              gathered since writing my message, this may be the "dreaded" class cast
              exception (although I don't know why since it runs under Tomcat).
              Basically, the initial page is displayed. When you select the SEARCH
              button (for example), the request goes to a servlet which puts a vector
              of custom classes into a session parameter. The request is then
              forwarded to the JSP page which uses the information in the classes to
              help build some information on the page. The first line in the JSP is
              processed (a simple output line to the system console) and then the
              classcast exception occurs.
              According to the info that I have seen, this shouldn't happen since I am
              not changing either the servlet or JSP files which would mean that
              nothing should be re-compiled.
              I have a call into tech support. I will post their answer and copy you
              on the message.
              Thanks.

    When using the following function with the SQL: SELECT A, B, C FROM D WHERE A=E and i call the campoString("A") i received the expected value for the campoString("B") and so on.

    If you need the JSP using this class please let me know. The application uses not standards, taglibs or anything besides .java files and .jsp files.

    Well, after a hell of possibilities i encounter that the new drivers are incompatible with Oracle 7, that is... you don't have to use the .jar on the website but the classes102.zip for that db version. To do that put your .zip at the beginning of the classpath, for WebLogic modify the startWeblogic shell command or windows .cmd file.

    I could be wrong but I'm pretty sure that your problem is caused by these lines of code :-
    KeyGenerator kgen = KeyGenerator.getInstance("AES");
    SecureRandom sr = SecureRandom.getInstance("SHA1PRNG");
    sr.setSeed(seed);
    kgen.init(128, sr); // 192 and 256 bits may not be available
    SecretKey skey = kgen.generateKey();In it's basic form a SHA1PRNG based random number generator is a deterministic generator and not really suitable for cryptographic use. I'm betting that Web Logic is replacing the SHA1PRNG core with a non-deterministic version of SecureRandom; in their position I would.
    If you want to transform bytes into a deterministic key you should use one of the PBE algorithms.
    P.S. When you create a cipher using
    Cipher cipher = Cipher.getInstance("AES");you by default specify ECB block mode and PKCS5 padding. ECB block mode is considered insecure since it allows forgery by splicing ciphertext. When used properly, the PBE based algorithms avoid this forgery by using CBC block mode.

  • How to start coherence server using node manager of remote web-logic server

    We want to manage our coherence servers using web-logic. Our requirement is as such we want to keep single web-logic Admin Server and add all other node-manager to the same web-logic Admin Server.
    Now when we create machine on node 1 (on which Admin Server is running) and add node manager of other server it is not responding and shows status as inactive.
    Status: Inactive
    Problem description: weblogic.nodemanager.NMException Exception encountered while communicating with this node manager
    Version: (not available)
    Looking at the log files it gives below info
    <Sep 10, 2011 6:31:55 AM> <WARNING> <Configuration error while reading domain directory>

    Even after I have added the domain name in above directory. It returns with the same error.
    Please let me know if anyone has faced the same issue while running coherence server on remote system using weblogic admin console on one machine and node manager on other machine.

    Thank You Rene.
    This issue is resolved, but now I am facing issue while starting the coherence server on the remote node using node manager.
    In the weblogic > coherence_server logs I am getting

  • Distributed destination issue on Web Logic server 8.1

    Hi,
    I'm using distributed JMS destination (Cluster) of Web Logic server 8.1.
    I'm using Oracle B2B to talk to the cluster. Oracle B2B is only creating a consumer on one of the managed servers in this cluster. This is resulting in loss of messages when messages are placed by the WLI on the other managed server.
    Further the consumers are created randomly by Oracle B2B.
    My question here is whether Web Logic Server 8.1 supports multiple consumers for its clusters?
    Please Help!
    Thanks in advance.
    Warm Regards,
    Suhas.

    Are your consumers co-located with each managed server or remote?
    Let me preface this by this is the way I believe it works...
    The reason I ask is that distributed destinations route to one managed server at connect time. So for producers, when 1 message is placed on a distributed destination, it is really routed to only 1 managed server queue. From a remote consumer standpoint, when connecting to a distributed destination to read messages, you are only routed to one of the managed server queues to read from, not the logical superset of all queues in the distributed destination. So you would need to connect to each distributed destination member queue directly to ensure each had consumers. Whereas if your consumers are co-located on the cluster, then they can each connect to the local member queue for that distributed destination and ensure that each member of the distributed destination has consumers.
    I'd recommend you note the follow docs:
    QueueReceivers
    http://edocs.bea.com/wls/docs103/jms/dds.html
    When creating a queue receiver, if the supplied queue is a distributed queue, then a single physical queue member is chosen for the receiver at creation time. The created QueueReceiver is pinned to that queue member until the queue receiver loses its access to the queue member. At that point, the consumer will receive a JMSException, as follows:
    If the queue receiver is synchronous, then the exception is returned to the user directly.
    If the queue receiver is asynchronous, then the exception is delivered inside of a ConsumerClosedException that is delivered to the ExceptionListener defined for the consumer session, if any.
    Upon receiving such an exception, an application can close its queue receiver and recreate it. If any other queue members are available within the distributed queue, then the creation will succeed and the new queue receiver will be pinned to one of those queue members. If no other queue member is available, then the application won’t be able to recreate the queue receiver and will have to try again later.
    Note:      For information on the load-balancing heuristics for distributed queues with zero consumers, see “Configuring Distributed Destination Resources”.
    http://edocs.bea.com/wls/docs103/jms_admin/advance_config.html#jms_distributed_destination_config
    The producer makes such a decision each time it sends a message. However, there is no compromise of ordering guarantees between a consumer and producer, because consumers are load balanced once, and are then pinned to a single destination member.
