ClassCastException while looking up Home

I have created a CMP Customer Bean, whose persistence fields are ID(PK), name, password and address inside the package navin.ejb.ecommerce.
The bean has been deployed successfully.
Now I have made an Login servlet also in the same package which allows login to customers whose name and password match with those in the database.
But in the init() method when I lookup the bean, it gives the ClassCastException. The lookup should return a class of type navin.ejb.ecommerce.CustomerHome but it gives error as:
java.lang.ClassCastException: navin.ejb.ecommerce.CustomerBeanHomeImpl_ServiceStub
Can anyone tell me the possible solution. I am using Weblogic.

Hello Navin,
Try this out
Object obj = ctx.lookup(<bean_jndi_name>);
CustomerHome home = (CustomerHome) PortableRemoteObject.narrow(obj, CustomerHome.class)
Also checkout the JNDI tree of the server, so that you are sure that teh name you are looking for in the lookup method is bound to the bean you want.
Hope this helps.
regards,
Abhishek.

  • ClassCastException - While type casting Home object after EJB JNDI Lookup

    Sun One Application Server throws a ClassCastException when I try to type cast Home object to it's respective interface type.
    Here is the code ---
    ==============================================
    Object obj = PortableRemoteObject.narrow( context.lookup( jndiName ), homeClass);
    System.out.println("Remote Object - obj : "+obj);
    if (obj != null) {
       System.out.println("obj.getClass().getName() : "+obj.getClass().getName());
       System.out.println("obj.getClass().getSuperclass() : "+obj.getClass().getSuperclass());
       Class[] interfaces = obj.getClass().getInterfaces();
       if (interfaces != null) {
          for (int count = 0; count < interfaces.length; count++) {
             System.out.println("interfaces[ " + count + " ].getName() : " + interfaces[ count ].getName());
    }==============================================
    The class name is dislpayed as the Stub class name.
    While displaying the interfaces, the Home Interface name is displayed.
    But later when I try to type cast it into Home Interface type, it throws a ClassCastException.
    Can somebody please check this?

    Please post the stack trace. Also, take a look at our EJB FAQ to make sure you're doing the
    recommended lookup :

  • Unexpected ClassCastException when looking up Home using JNDI

    J2EE Gurus,
    In the attached sample program, a EJB (named MyScheduler in package mytest) is
    used to install a java code dynamically in weblogic service (8.1sp1), as well
    as to invoke a test java code (MyTest.run()) in it using Java reflection. Another
    EJB (named MyEJB in package myejb) is deployed dynamically using Weblogic console
    with its client side packaged with dynamically deployed java code. When invoked
    through MyScheduler, MyTest.run() simply looks up the home of MyEJB using JNDI,
    and when it is cast to MyEJBHome, a ClassCastException is thrown.
    Can someone explain why this exception occurs? Does this mean that a (dynamically)
    deployed code (java or EJB) cannot call other (dynamically) deployed EJBs, even
    when it has the client side of EJB packaged with it?
    Any help will be deeply appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Abhay

    Because returned instance implements javax.sql.DataSource.Ha ha.
    No kidding :-)No. One could have found it himself by printing out returned type class
    or just by going to google and typing XADataSource weblogic +ClassCastException...
    Why would you want to do it? weblogic takes care of all the XA
    connection pooling, resource enlistments etc.Yeah, true.
    I should know this - I just got a little confused ... :-)
    I have just come from doing all the XA stuff myself... and got used to having
    XADataSources around...Thanks to J2EE, there is no need for low level plumbing when transaction
    support is needed.
    Also, with JMS resources, you DO have to have the XAQueueConnection etc etc for
    XA - even in an appserver.Per my knowledge weblogic allows you creating XA-aware JMS resources.

    I am getting a ClassCast exception when I lookup a "Global Transaction"enabled
    JDBC DataSource.
    XADataSource xads = (XADataSource) ctx.lookup("jdbc/MyDS");
    Why is this?Because returned instance implements javax.sql.DataSource.
    How do I configure an XADataSource in JNDI?Why would you want to do it? weblogic takes care of all the XA connection

  • ClassCastException while looking up RMI objects bound to weblogic.JNDI under WLS 6.1

    We deploy a servlet (in a single .war archive) establishing a RMI connection to

    It also seems that problems don't occur when accessing the remote object from

    We expect this to be a classloader conflict within WLS 6.1
    Does anybody know a solution to our problems?

    There was a similar bug that was supposedly fixed in WL 6.1 SP 2. I had
    filed a bug on this myself, and was given a patch for SP1, you should be
    able to ask for the patch for CR060416.

  • IPhoto locks up while looking through photos. What do I do?

    My iPhoto locks up while looking through photos.  What do I do to fix this?  iPhoto '09 8.1.2

    Try this:  launch iPhoto with the Option key held down and create a new, test library.  Import some photos and test to see if the same problem persists. If it doesn't  then you current library is damaged.
    In that case apply the two fixes below in order as needed:
    Fix #1
    Launch iPhoto with the Command+Option keys held down and rebuild the library.
    Since only one option can be run at a time start with Option #3, followed by #4 and then #1 as needed.
    Fix #2
    Using iPhoto Library Manager  to Rebuild Your iPhoto Library
    1 - download iPhoto Library Manager and launch.
    2 - click on the Add Library button, navigate to your Home/Pictures folder and select your iPhoto Library folder.
    3 - Now that the library is listed in the left hand pane of iPLM, click on your library and go to the File ➙ Rebuild Library menu option.
    4 - In the next  window name the new library and select the location you want it to be placed.
    5 - Click on the Create button.
    Note: This creates a new library based on the LIbraryData.xml file in the library and will recover Events, Albums, keywords, titles and comments.  However, books, calendars, cards and slideshows will be lost. The original library will be left untouched for further attempts at fixing the problem or in case the rebuilt library is not satisfactory.

    Greetings,
    javax.naming.NameNotFoundException. Root exception is
    org.omg.CosNaming.NamingContextPackage.NotFound
    =================
    Below is the line of my LoginServlet class which is
    referred to in the stack trace - Object object =
    context.lookup
                        ( "java:comp/env/ejb/WarehouseClerk" );The root of the naming context is 'java:comp/env' and this is where lookup automatically begins for EJBs and resources. IOW, by specifying "java:comp/env/ejb/WarehouseClerk" as the EJB lookup name the server is actually treating this as "java:comp/env/java:comp/env/ejb/WarehouseClerk". Specify only the ejb context ("ejb/WarehouseClerk") in your lookup and you should be fine.
    Any help would be most appreciated.

  • RMAN-06010: error while looking up datafile: 82

    Iam building dataguard - Physical Standby database by using the RMAN duplicate command and we are not using the recovery catalog but control file.
    Iam getting the following error while running the duplicate command.
    set newname for datafile 82 to
    "/dflx02/flx/o01flx3rbs/rbs02_02.O01FLX3";
    RMAN-06010: error while looking up datafile: 82
    Actually we dropped the datafile(tablespace) before taken the backup but it is giving error though we are using the latest control file.
    I do not see this file is available in the database as we dropped it successfully.
    Could some one let me know what could be the problem and how to resolve it.
    Your early response is greatly appreciated.

    Thank you for your reply. Actually Iam not renaming the datafile but building the
    dataguard instance and some how control file is looking for old datafile that was deleted.
    Actually both primary and dataguard instances are running on 10.2.0.3 . Oracle control file is listing the datafile 82 as old deleted file, while building the dataguard.
    ---- This file was deleted long time back but still oracle control file is looking for this file while building the dataguard. Iam using the latest control file.
    set newname for datafile 82 to
    "/dflx02/flx/o01flx3rbs/rbs02_02.O01FLX3"
    When I listed the datafile 82, it is showing the correct datafile.

    Try replacing
    oracle.jdbc.driver.OracleConnectionwith
    oracle.jdbc.OracleConnectionRegards

    As a workaround, you can try to access /dyn/admin/nucleus. But you need to check that whether you can execute javac on the shell prompt. If not then check whether your JAVA_HOME environment variable is pointing to supported JDK present on the Linux machine and also $JAVA_HOME\bin directory should be in the path so that javac executable is available in path which is required to compile the dyn/admin home jhtml page.

  • ClassCastException while creating sendstream

    Hi,
    I'm trying to establish an unicast rtp session and play an url to the remote client.
    DataSource[] sources = new DataSource[urls.length];
              for(int i = 0; i < urls.length; i++) {
                   sources[i] = Manager.createDataSource(urls);
              DataSource mergedDataSource = Manager.createMergingDataSource(sources);
              SendStream sendStream = m_rtpManager.createSendStream(mergedDataSource, 1);
              sendStream.start();
    I throws ClassCastException while creating the sendstream object.

         at com.untd.apps.ms.action.HandleAnncCommand.execute(HandleAnncCommand.java:44)
    I decompiled the RtpSessionMgr class and here are the few lines of the createSendStream method
    /** RtpSessionMgr class **/
    public SendStream createSendStream(int ssrc, javax.media.protocol.DataSource ds, int streamindex)
    throws UnsupportedFormatException, IOException, SSRCInUseException
    SSRCInfo i = cache.lookup(ssrc);
    if(i != null)
    throw new SSRCInUseException("SSRC supplied is already in use");
    int newSSRC = ssrc;
    if(cache.rtcp_bw_fraction == 0.0D)
    throw new IOException("Initialized with zero RTP/RTCP outgoing bandwidth. Cannot create a sending stream ");
    PushBufferStream streams[] = ((PushBufferDataSource)ds).getStreams();
    PushBufferStream sendstream = streams[streamindex];
    The datsource that I use is PullDataSource (In the api, it is mentioned that we can pass both push and pullDatasources to this method).
    By default the Datasource for http protocol is an instance of PullDataSource. But in the createSendStream method, the dataSource is casted to PushDataSource. I guess this is why it throws ClassCastException.
    Could someone please help me resolve this error.
    Thanks,
    Ganesh.

    Never mind. Resolved the issue myself.
    By setting the audio formats using processor, I resolved the issue. The datasource from processor.getDataOutput() is a PushDataSource.
