Classes and DB tables
Is it a good idea to create a class for each table in a database? If it so, should it be an interface, an abstract or a normal class? This is assuming that an application will use all tables in the DB, n-tier architecture, client-server, etc.

I don't think so that it is good idea ...
in my opinion u dont have to make classes for that table in db then what about there manipulation u will make it very much complex for ure self ...
i can give an example to u in regard of what just i have said
is that
u know telephone operators what they do ... they simply call ure name and put u on the phone ? yes then waht about db tables that are the data only and u have to operate them then u have to write an operator class to help u out ...
and if there are classes in one transaction of the database then much greater time is required then the single class ... i hope u got my point

For batch class the class type value is '023' . This you can find from KLAH table and the fileld for class type is KLART..
And also all the data related to batch class are found in tables INOB, KLAH,KKSK and for the characeteristics of batch materials you can refer AUSP table.
In INOB table, for batch class, you need to give 023 in KLART field and value MCH1 in OBTAB filed.

Problems using different tables for base class and derived class
I have a class named SuperProject and another class Project derived from
it. If I let SchemaTool generate the tables without specifying a "table"
extension, I get a single TABLE with all the columns from both classes and
everything works fine. But if I specify a "table" for the derived class,
SchemaTool generates the derived class with just one column (corresponds
to the attribute in derived class). Also it causes problems in using the
Project class in collection attributes.

As per above post, you can find classes. To find characteristics, Give EQUNR value in OBJEK field in AUSP table & get the ATINN value.
Give ATINN value in ATINN field in CABN table & get ATNAM field value.
In AUSP table, you can get the values against each characteristics as well.

Pass table rowtype between java class and PL/SQL package
I am a complete newbie when it comes to java itself but I've been asked to investigate the possibility of passing a rowtype datatype from a PL/SQL package to a java class and vice versa.
I have heard of oracle.sql.ArrayDescriptor as an option but this appears to address only SQL types that are defined outside of a package.
I'm talking about using, say, SCOTT.EMP%rowtype instead of a user-defined type. I'm thinking that a java array could be defined from the definition of a table in the database but I don't know what class would be appropriate.
Could someone provide a simple proof-of-concept example that shows how you could use a java array to pass data to a package that is expecting a table rowtype variable and conversely a java class that reads the rowtype returned into a java array?
Would oracle.jdbc.driver.OracleDatabaseMetaData be a way of doing this?

The website allows us to fill in information for multiple employees at once. Perhaps the java servlet should handle the multiple employee records as an array? If so, how can a PL/SQL procedure be made to recognize that construct?<br><br>

View with Bind Variable and ADF table
Hi all,
Please note what i have noticed. I created a view with a bind parameter, overriden the prepareSession of my Application Module to set the bind parameter and execute the query. I then created a simple jsf page and included the view as an adf read-only table. When i run the page, the prepareSession is called, sets the bind parameter, however the selected record of the table is always the second record (Not the first record).
This behaviour can be reproduced with the HR schema. Please follow the below instructions for reproducing the problem.
1. Create a Fusion Web Application (ADF).
2. Create business components from tables.
3. Create a new connection with the HR schema.
4. Import the Departments table as an entity and then click finish.
5. Create a view based on the Departments entity.
6. Modify the Query to include a where clause (where DDepartmentsEO.DEPARTMENT_NAME LIKE :BindParam)
7. Provide an order by clause (DepartmentsEO.DEPARTMENT_ID DESC)
8. Creata a bind variable named "BindParam" of type string.
9. Create an Application Module and include the view object.
10. Open the Application Module Class and override the prepareSession method
11. include the following code after super.prepareSession(session):
ViewObject myView = this.getDepartments1();
myView.setNamedWhereClauseParam("BindParam", "%");
myView.executeQuery();
12. Create a jsf page
13. Drag the view object on the page as an adf read-only table, selecting the Row Selection, Sorting and Filtering
14. Run the page.
You will see that instead of the first record being selected, the second record in the table is selected.

The real scenario has to do with setting the where clause with the authenticated user so that the view will query for data only associated with the authenticated user.
The only way to overcome this behaviour is to include a view action (namedWhereClause in the page definition)
However, this is not how i want to implement this. This was working properly in 10g -

1) Think if your table contains more than one NAMEs then you will get only the last one with your code.
2) Your String is declared as local variable in the method.
3) You have not created any object of NewClass nor called the method in JSP page. Then who will call the method to run sql?
4) Your NewClass contains main method which will not work in web application, it's not standalone desktop application so remove main.
Better create an ArrayList and then call the method of NewClass and then store the data into ArrayList and return the ArrayList.

Sorry for the confusion in the title. Here is my question. In my program, I have 2 different tables which store 2 different type of entities. Each one of entities has a list of attachments which I stored in a common attachment table. There is a one-to-many relationship between entity tables and attachment table.

ENTITY_ID in ATTACHMENTS table is used to link attachments to either entity one or entity two. All IDs are generated by one sequence. So they are always unique. My question is how I could map this relationship into EntityOne, EntityTwo and Attachment JAVA class?For EntityOne and EntityTwo you can just define a normal OneToMany mapping using the foreign key.
Are you using JPA, or the TopLink API? JPA requires a mappedBy for the OneToMany, so this may be more difficult. You should be able to just add a JoinColumn on the OneToMany and make the column insertable/updateable=false.
For the attachment, you could either map the foreign key as a Basic (DirectToFieldMapping) and maintain it in your model, or use a VariableOneToOne mapping in TopLink (this will require the entities share a common interface).

i have got a requiremet in that i have to get the relation .
how to get the link between mara, ausp, cawn and cawnt tables and also type how can we get link between char value and char description in cawn and cawnt tables through ausp and mara tables.
