  • Setting classpath in netbeans ide5.0

    i don't know how to set classpath in netbeans ide5.0 for

    Then you should read the Netbeans documentation:

  • Glazed Lists Classpath in NetBeans

    Hi,
    I'm developing an application in NetBeans, and would like to make use of the Glazed Lists API. I have downloaded the glazedlists-1.6.0_java15.jar file, but I'm not sure where to put it, or how to set my classpath so that I can use the glazed lists libraries in NetBeans.
    I would appreciate any help I might receive.
    Thanks. :)

    I see this topic is over a year old and you've not gotten a reply. You might have more luck at the NetBeans developer mailing list - http://www.netbeans.org/community/index.html
    For any given project, in order to add a JAR file, you right-click on the project, select Properties, then select the Libraries item.
    From there you can add the JAR file you want.
    Did you ever get this working? I'm trying to integrate the API into my project now. I'm not quite sure how to do it, and am a bit at a loss.

  • MSSQL JDBC driver

    Hi there, I'm attempting to creaet a java interface with an SQL database on an MSQL server but am not having much luck setting up the JDBC and MS SQL Server 2000 driver in netbeans... any help that anyone can give me will be much appreciated!
    I have netbeans setup and installed the SQL server driver, the entries for the 3 jar files that come with the driver are in my windows (NT4.0) classpath but netbeans isn't finding classes.
    a sample of the code I have written thus far is:
    try{
    Class.forName("com.microsoft.jdbc.sqlserver.SQLServerDriver");
    catch(ClassNotFoundException e){ }
    SQLServerConnection conn = DriverManager.getConnection("jdbc:microsoft:sqlserver://rworlddev:1433","AssetRegister","assets");
    but it is getting the following errors:
    testGUI.java [22:1] cannot resolve symbol
    symbol : class SQLServerConnection
    location: class testGUI
    SQLServerConnection conn = DriverManager.getConnection("jdbc:microsoft:sqlserver://rworlddev:1433","AssetRegister","assets");
    So it isn't finding the class, although when i right click the SQLServerConnection text and go to "Go to source" i get a text box saying:
    "Source com.microsoft.jdbc.sqlserver.SQLServerConnection not found in Filesystems"
    I have mounted all three jar files and they are appearing in the filesystems, but should i mount the jar files from the com directory? it seems like it's mounted one level 'too high' although I'm not sure if this can even be done in netbeans..
    Thanks for any help!

    You might change that "SQLServerConnection" to just be the Connection interface. This likely won't solve your problem though.
    Can you get Netbeans to tell you what classpath it's using? You might go ahead and drop the jar that contains your JDBC driver into your extension directory ($JAVA_HOME/jre/lib/ext) and see if that helps.
    Good Luck

  • How to use imports with JDOM

    I'm trying to learn the basics of using JDOM to work with XML. I have the following import statements, but I get errors for each item saying "X Does not exist".
    import org.jdom.*;
    import org.jdom.input.*;
    import org.jdom.output.*;
    In C# you have to reference the assemblies to get this to work, but haven't found the equivalent thing in Java.

    DrLaszloJamf's response helped lead me to the answer online.
    I used this tutorial on setting up JDOM: http://www.topxml.com/tutorials/main.asp?id=jdom&page=1
    And this to set classpath in Netbeans: http://javahowto.blogspot.com/2006/06/set-classpath-in-eclipse-and-netbeans.html

  • Exception in thread "main" java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: Helloworld

    Hi Java Experts,
    I am at a lost to how Java searches for all the classes when running a program. Below are the following steps I have taken to try a simple basic HelloWorld.java program on the command prompt on Windows XP (SP2) platform:
    ( i ) Installed both jdk1.5.0_09 and Netbeans IDE 5.0 and working properly.
    ( ii ) The source file is located in F:\Documents and Settings\abc\HeadFirstDesignPattern\src\ch11 and the compiled file is in F:\Documents and Settings\abc\HeadFirstDesignPattern\build\classes\ch11 which was compiled in Netbeans.
    ( iii ) No problem compiling & running this program in Netbeans.
    ( iv ) The RUN CLASSPATH in Netbeans is F:\Documents and Settings\abc\HeadFirstDesignPattern\build\classes.
    ( v ) No CLASSPATH variable has been set.
    ( vi ) The HelloWorld program looks like this:
    package ch11;
    public class HelloWorld {
    public static void main(String[] args) {
    System.out.println("Hello World!");
    ( vi ) Got the message
    "Exception in thread "main" java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: HelloWorld"
    when running a combination of the following Java commands:
    ( a ) cd F:\Documents and Settings\abc\HeadFirstDesignPattern\build\classes
    ( b ) java HelloWorld, or
    java -cp . HelloWorld or java -cp "." HelloWorld, or
    java -cp F:\Documents and Settings\abc\HeadFirstDesignPattern\build\classes HelloWorld or "F:\Documents and Settings\abc\HeadFirstDesignPattern\build\classes" HelloWorld, or
    java -cp F:\Documents and Settings\abc\HeadFirstDesignPattern\build\classes;. HelloWorld or "F:\Documents and Settings\abc\HeadFirstDesignPattern\build\classes";. HelloWorld, or
    java -cp "F:\Documents and Settings\abc\HeadFirstDesignPattern\build\classes";. HelloWorld or "F:\Documents and Settings\abc\HeadFirstDesignPattern\build\classes";"." HelloWorld, or
    java -cp "F:\Documents and Settings\abc\HeadFirstDesignPattern\build\classes";. HelloWorld or "F:\Documents and Settings\abc\HeadFirstDesignPattern\build\classes";"." ch11\HelloWorld.
    It is the package location which is a subdirectory of F:\Documents and Settings\abc\HeadFirstDesignPattern\build\classes which caused Java not to find this program. I had no problem running it if the HelloWorld.java was moved one level up. ie from F:\Documents and Settings\abc\HeadFirstDesignPattern\build\classes\ch11 to F:\Documents and Settings\abc\HeadFirstDesignPattern\build\classes.
    I have written Java in the last year mostly on Netbeans without any problem running them.
    The reason for having to learn to run Java on the command line is so that I could add arguments to the program which I couldn't do in Netbeans just yet.
    I have gone through a lot of the articles from Java forums, Google searches but yet to have found a solution.
    Many thanks,
    Netbeans Fan

    I am getting the same problem when running the same program on a Fedora 4.0 (Redhat Linux 10) system, together with Netbeans 5.5 and JDK1.5.0_09. Again, I have no such problem when running the same program in Netbeans.

  • Using comm.jar

    I'm trying to use serial port to configure a device. I've installed the javacomm20-win32, and copied the comm.jar and javax.comm.properties file in c:\j2sdk1.4.2_04\lib and the win32com.dll in c:\j2sdk1.4.2_04\bin and then added comm.jar to my classpath in Netbeans. The problem is the serialdemo example included in javacomm20-win32.zip doesn't work because it can't find any port. It seems like javax.comm.properties is not installed but it is ! I don't know where's the problem, I would appreciate any help.

    U need to unjar it just like a tar or zip. Inside depending on the type of code you can put it directly in you current working directly found in usually under the name of netbeansProjects in the appropriate directory.I politely disagree with this. You're likely far better off leaving the jar "jar'd" as it is, and adding it to your class path. How do you add it to the classpath in netbeans? I don't know as I don't use netbeans, but I'm sure the help section will tell you.He can do that by referencing it through a pathname if he has it in the root project directory in netbeans. The bits I added was for his benefit as he now has an idea of where to look for source code directly and for the javadoc files etc that netbeans will generate for you. NetbeansProjects is where to go look.

  • How do i imported downloaded packages ?

    Hi all
    I'm using NetBeans 4.1, and i've downloaded a few packages from the net, but i've no idea how to get them to be imported. I've downloaded them, unzipped, and saved into a directory, and the classes i need to use are on a JAR file.
    i do the import statement as such
    import org.apache.commons.*;
    But when i compile, NetBeans gives me an error that the package is not found and i still can't use the classes, could someone tell me how i could get it to work ? Thanks in advance.

    Hi thank you for your help but how do i go about
    setting the CLASSPATHS in NetBeans ?

  • Do I need to set up CLASSPATH if I use netbeans?

    Does Netbeans IDE set path and classpath automaticly after installing it?
    Thanks

    Sorry, but on my development machine I'll keep the
    CLASSPATH variable if you don't mind. I'll be @rsed
    to throw in thirty jars each time I want to run
    something from a shell.A smart shell programmer could figure out how to get the JARs in without having to type them all in.
    IDEs and Java EE containers all ignore your CLASSPATH. It's really not doing you much good. I don't have a CLASSPATH environment variable on any machine that I use for development.

  • Netbeans 6.9.1 & J2EE 6 & Shared Library Directory = Classpath errors

    Wohoo,
    starting as a forum newbie....again :s
    Anyway, I've run into some troubles during the setup of my very first J2EE 6 project in Netbeans. I've installed Netbeans 6.9.1 and the included Glassfish v3 server runtime. Then I've created a new J2EE 6 project using Netbeans J2EE project wizard. Said wizard has an option: "Use shared library directory". I ticked this option and specified the shared library directory to be "lib". Then I've added JAR files to it, but somehow this JARs are not added to the classpath of the dependent EJB and Web project. Any time I try to import a class from one of the EAR libraries I get the compile-time ClassNotFound error in the IDE.
    I'm a seasoned Eclipse user, and only recently have switched over to Netbeans (mostly out of curiosity). In Eclipse the ${EarProject}/lib folder was automatically recognized as the EAR's lib folder, and any JAR files added to it where available for all J2EE modules in the EAR project. After consulting the integrated Netbeans help on the topic I was convinced that this should work the same in Netbeans. Can any experienced Netbeans developer assist me in this please?
    PS: I'm sorry if this is the inappropriate forum category, but the old "Netbeans" category from the Sun Forums seems to have disappeared during the forum transition.
    EDIT: on an unrelated note I'd like to bring to your attention that this is the first "real Java question" in this forum :D ("Wohoo this is new" posts don't count)

  • Application working under NetBeans but not as a *.jar file

    Hello,
    recently I found a little problem. I wrote application that shows all available ports in my computer. When I am running this applications under NetBeans it works with no problem - finds all available ports. Then I am building it to the *.jar file. Application is working with no problem but command:
    Enumeration PortIds = CommPortIdentifier.getPortIdentifiers();
    is not returning any identifiers - PortIds is empty.
    Anyone knows a solution for this type of problems? Thanks

    Hi Venkatesh,
    Few questions.
    1. What is your JDeveloper version? (Always better to post your JDev version along with the question, which would help us to help you better).
    2. Did you try adding webserviceclient.jar to the classpath? (Search in your JDev installation directory for the location of this jar file).
