Do I need to set up CLASSPATH if I use netbeans?

Does Netbeans IDE set path and classpath automaticly after installing it?
Thanks

Sorry, but on my development machine I'll keep the
CLASSPATH variable if you don't mind. I'll be @rsed
to throw in thirty jars each time I want to run
something from a shell.A smart shell programmer could figure out how to get the JARs in without having to type them all in.
IDEs and Java EE containers all ignore your CLASSPATH. It's really not doing you much good. I don't have a CLASSPATH environment variable on any machine that I use for development.

  • Need Help Setting Java Classpath

    I have installed JCreator LE and the JDK 1.6.02 and the JRE 1.6.02 as well as the API's into my JDK doc directory.
    I can't figure out how to set the classpath to allow me to run java programs and I can't figure out how to get java.exe to run either.
    WinXP doesn't come with an autoexec.bat file so that route for setting my classpath is out... I can get to the DOS command prompt just fine but don't know what to type. When I try running any program like java.exe from the JDK a small DOS like box appears for a split second and then disappears.
    If someone could help me solve this/these problems I'd be very grateful. Thanks

    Thanks for your help. I set my CLASSPATH option
    within system/advanced/setvar to: "C:\Program
    Files\Java\jdk1.6.0_02\bin" Which is precisely where
    my jdk is located. Wrong. That directory needs to be in your PATH, not CLASSPATH. PATH tells the operating system where to find .exe files like javac.exe and java.exe.
    CLASSPATH tells the JVM where to look for your .class files
    I've tinkered around and around and I still can't get
    it to work... My confidence in my computer savyness
    is beginning to deteriorate... I've been reading two
    books on java and believe I'm understanding OO pretty
    well into the later chapters at present. I read
    through Suns online tutorial as well and just am not
    understanding what I'm doing wrong here. Thanks-Read the docs for both javac.exe and java.exe. Both take a -classpath option when you run in a command shell. That's the correct way to specify CLASSPATH.
    Do not use an environment variable. That is the wrong way to go about it.
    When you graduate to application servers it'll be a different matter, but by then perhaps you'll understand better.

  • Do I need to set AI colour profiles for use in ID?

    My previous set up:
    Mac
    CS2 (Illustrator, Photoshop, Bridge)
    Quark XPress 7
    My new set up:
    PC (Win 7)
    CS5 (Illustrator, Photoshop, Bridge, InDesign)
    My problem:
    I work for a company that prints newspapers, but my dept also does work for glossy sheetfed printers (magazines leaflets etc)
    All my work is exclusively CMYK.
    With my previous set up - I didn’t want to have to switch my colour profiles via Bridge as I was constantly juggling two types of jobs:
    Our tabloid press - Profile - ISOnewspaper26v4 (CMYK)
    Sheetfed Printers - Profile - ISO Coated V2 (Fogra 39) (CMYK)
    So I set my CS2 Suite colour settings to  ISO Coated V2 (Fogra 39) and set an action in Photoshop to convert jpegs / eps photos to ISOnewspaper26v4.
    So my CS2 working space was set for Sheetfed glossy publications and if I wanted to set a picture to the correct profile for newsprint I just had to open the picture and hit the action that applied the ISOnewspaper26v4 profile.
    Regarding Quark – I set up separate templates for each type of job:
    One for Profile - ISO Coated V2 (Fogra 39) and one for - Profile - ISOnewspaper26v4.
    Regarding Illustrator - I found that Quark 7 didn’t differentiate between Illustrator colour profiles, or if it did, it didn’t show up in ‘Usage’.
    If I went to Quark Usage and went to ‘Profiles’ it only listed the Quark profile and any Photoshop profiles, not any Illustrator profiles.
    So in Illustrator I just set colour profiles to ‘do not colour manage this document’. So that I only had to worry about changing profiles for Photoshop jpegs / eps’s.
    So I had a good little system going that served me well and now my company decided to move us to PC’s and CS5; and I still have the same problem – juggling newsprint jobs and glossy magazine jobs and not wanting to have to synchronise my CS suite colour settings every time I switch between jobs...
    So I was hoping to stick with my little system on PC / CS5.
    So basically my question is, do I need to worry about Illustrator colour profiles if I am bringing Illustrator files into InDesign? (To clarify, my Illustrator files are always pure vector, so there is no chance of some rogue RGB jpeg sneaking through on a Illustrator file)
    Im open to suggestions regarding my set up, but really would prefer not to have to keep switching my colour profiles.
    Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    First, I wasn't suggesting that your PDFs be exported to RGB, but it is a common workflow these days to keep photos in RGB until you convert them to the correct profile during the export process. This maximizes the potential for re-purposing your documents and allows you to use the same RGB photos for different output purposes without having to do separate CMYK conversions for each destination, so long as you don't need to do any tweaking after the conversion.
    And to answer your question, if the .ai files have no embedded color profile they will ALWAYS be considered to use whatever the CMYK working space is in your ID file, so the numbers will be preserved. This means that there will be slight differences in color on output on different devices (the whole point of color management, after all, is to preserve the appearance of colors by altering the numbers for the output device).
    Does the vector work you get from Thinstock come with an embedded profile? Is there any color that is critical for matching, such as a corporate color (which should be spot, but that's a different discussion), or do you use the same art in both the newspaper and magazine, and does the client expect a match (which we know isn't going to happen anyway)?
    If there's no embedded profile when you start, there's no way to know what the color was supposed to look like, so color management is not possible, really. You can assign a profile, but you'd be guessing. Since the correct appearance at that point is unknown continuing with out color management shouldn't present a problem. The only case where you would need to manage the vector art would be if the color APPEARANCE is critical or you need it to match across different outputs, and in that case you would need to assign a profile and allow ID to preserve the profile on import and remap the numbers, which means you would likely get rich blacks someplace. Since it's unlikely that you can get a good match going from glossy to newsprint, I probably wouldn't even try -- you wouldn't want, for example, to tag the art as newsprint, and have it print subdued on the gloss if it would look better or more correct with the other profile. Color management would be much more useful if you were going from sheetfed to web on the same stock.

  • Need help setting up JDBC with mySQL and Netbeans

    I've successfully got mySQL up and running and created a few simple test databases. I've been following the instructions on this website (http://www.stardeveloper.com/articles/display.html?article=2003090401&page=1 ) to get JDBC working but have had little luck.
    I've downloaded JDBC from mySQL website, extracted the mysql-connector-java-3.1.13-bin.jar file and changed the class path to :
    C:\Program Files\Java\jre1.5.0_06\lib\ext\mysql-connector-java-3.1.13-bin
    which is where I placed the .jar file.
    I then used the following code provided on stardeveloper.com to test a connection with the test database.
    import java.sql.Connection;
    import java.sql.DriverManager;
    import java.sql.SQLException;
    public class JdbcExample2 {
      public static void main(String args[]) {
        Connection con = null;
        try {
          Class.forName("com.mysql.jdbc.Driver").newInstance();
          con = DriverManager.getConnection("jdbc:mysql:///test",
            "root", "secret");
          if(!con.isClosed())
            System.out.println("Successfully connected to " +
              "MySQL server using TCP/IP...");
        } catch(Exception e) {
          System.err.println("Exception: " + e.getMessage());
        } finally {
          try {
            if(con != null)
              con.close();
          } catch(SQLException e) {}
    }It compiles but when run I get the error message :
    java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: testdatabase/JdbcExample2
    Exception in thread "main"I assume this means that my classpath isn't setup correctly but I have no idea what's up and how to correct it.
    Can someone PLEASE tell me how to setup jdbc and what I've done wrong.
    Thanks in advance :)

    Thanks for your reply. I've made some progress but I'm still having problems.
    In mySQL I created a new user called uraknai with password n0121429 and granted them access to a test database I created called pet.
    Then, in netbeans, I clicked the Runtime tab, clicked Databases and rightclicked Drivers and clicked Add Driver. I then added the driver mysql-connector-java-3.1.13-bin.jar. I then right clicked the newly added driver and selected the connect using option. I filled in the appropriate boxes clicked ok and it connected successfully.
    Then, under the project tab, I right clicked the project name, clicked properties then clicked Libraries and added the .jar file mysql-connector-java-3.1.13-bin.jar
    I then ran the following code to test the connection to the database:
    import java.sql.*;
    public class ConnectionTest {
        public ConnectionTest() {
        public static void main(String[] args)
            System.out.println("BEGIN CONNECTION TEST");
            Connection conn = null;
            try
                   String userName = "uraknai";
                   String password = "n0121429";
                   String url = "jdbc:mysql://localhost/pet";
                   Class.forName ("com.mysql.jdbc.Driver").newInstance ();
                   conn = DriverManager.getConnection (url, userName, password);
                   System.out.println ("Database connection established");
             catch (Exception e)
                   System.err.println ("Cannot connect to database server");
             finally
                   if (conn != null)
                       try
                           conn.close ();
                           System.out.println ("Database connection terminated");
                       catch (Exception e) { /* ignore close errors */ }
    }and get the message:
    java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: math/ConnectionTest
    Exception in thread "main"
    Java Result: 1when I run the code.
    Can someone explin what I've done wrong and how to fix the problem.
    Cheers.

  • Help Please: Do I need to set Classpath?

    Hi friends,
    I installed JDK 1.4 on Windows, do I need to set up classpath after installation? How to do it?
    What if I install JDK on Linux? How to set the classpath?
    This puzzles me a lot, any response will be greatly appreiated!
    THANKS!!!

  • Setting Up CLASSPATH variable

    Dears,
    In PI 7.1 we are getting one error:
    We are getting an u201CSAPClassNotFoundException:u201D. The reason for this is as I got we need to set the classpath in the PI Server.
    Please do as below:
    The following is an example of the CLASSPATH statement that is used for a Unix/Linux application:
    CLASSPATH =.:/home/usr1/mssqlserverjdbc/Driver/sqljdbc_2.0/enu/sqljdbc.jar
    Please suggest how can I set this path on AIX ,Is it a env variable.If yes then as I am getting aftre setting ones and logging out this variable will get dissaper.
    So please suggest how can i set this path.

  • Setting the classpath

    doing a jsp page which calls for:
    <%@ page import="java.sql.*" %>
    <%@ page import="javax.sql.*" %>
    <%@ page import="sun.jdbc.rowset.*" %>
    <%@ page import="java.util.*;" %>
    at the top of the page , so i downloaded the jar files that i needed and set the classpath to:
    C:\jdk1.3.1_01\rowset.jar;C:\jdk1.3.1_01\jdbc2_0-stdext.jar;C:\jdk1.3.1_01\jndi
    this is the first time ive set the classpath
    but when i run the page i get loads of Error: Could not find package named:
    anyone no what im doing wrong?

    When you say you "set the classpath", does that mean that you changed the system CLASSPATH environment variable, or that you went into the configuration of whatever it is that's running your JSPs and put those jars and directories into the appropriate place?

  • Does weblogic.Deployer set the CLASSPATH?

    Hi,
    I need to deploy an application with the weblogicDeployer utility. Does it automatically
    set the CLASSPATH, as is done with the Admin console? Or do I need to set the
    CLASSPATH explicitly?
    Thanks,

    ah. weblogic.Deployer and the console use the same underlying API to
    our Deployment subsystem. There shouldn't be any difference in
    application behavior (eg classpath).

  • Please Read This if You Need Help Setting Up Email...

    Hi Everyone!
    If you are hoping to use your Nokia phone for send and receiving emails you will need to set this up prior to use.
    You may find that your phone has already been setup to send and receive emails by your network. This will be for the email address that has been provided to you by your network. If you would like to set up your phone for another email account, like your private or work email account, this will need to be set up by you.
    The easiest way to do this is to order the settings from our site. You can do this from this link: Nokia Settings Page Here you can order all the settings you might need, to get your email settings click on Order Advance Settings and choose email when prompted.
    Dont worry if you can't see your email provider in that list, if you have Nokia PC Suite installed you can connect your phone to your PC and configure your email account with some software.
    If you have a 9500, 9300 or 9300i communicator you can go here: Nokia Configuartion Tool
    If you have 3220, 6230i, 8800, 6810, 6820 or 6822 you can go here: Nokia Email Configuration Tool
    If you have a series 60 phone like a 6680 or 7610 etc you can install the Settings Wizard from here: Nokia Settings Wizard. This application will attempt to configure your email settings for you. You will need a working installation of PC Suite to install this from your PC. If you are able to get the installation file on to your phone you will be able to install from there.
    If your phone has not been listed in any of the above points, then unfortunately you will need to configure the phone manually. If you need to do this you will have to find out some basic information first:
    Your incoming server address
    Your outgoing server address
    Do you require a secure incoming/outgoing connection?
    Do you need SSL?
    Your email provider will be able to provide all this information, if you get stuck during the setup on what you should be entering for a setting, your email provider will be able to help you out.
    Hope this is enough to help some of you out, any comments are welcome - just send me a PM.
    Cheers
    Karim

    Road Runner is a pain at times to get to work on both Wi-Fi and EDGE. It seems as if their outgoing mail server doesn't like to roam. CWMX is ONLY for use on the cellular network, and if you plan on using Wi-Fi to send e-mails periodically, CWMX will NOT work.
    My solution: Sign up for a GMAIL account, and forward your e-mails to the GMAIL account (provided POP access is enabled). Just log-in to this GMAIL account with your iPhone, and you'll get all your e-mails! If you need any help, let me know, I'll be glad to get you some directions.

  • Setting Server Node To Productive Use NO

    My developement server is running on AIX.  I would like to enable one of the nodes for debugging.  In order to do this I need to set the value of Productive Use to NO.  It is currently set to yes.  I cannot change this using the NWDS because it is a remote server.  I cannot install NWDS on our development server either.  Is there a way I can change this property on my development box?
    TIA,
    Eric

    Hello Eric,
    To set the productive use of server to no, please use the configtool. Its present in C:\usr\sap\<Instance Name>\JC00\j2ee\configtool\configtool.bat
    After starting it, you go to the left side menu and select on instance tree. Then on right, go to the Servers Debug Tab. In this tab, check the Debuggable check-box. Restart the server. Now, debug mode is on, and also production mode is set to off.
