Netbeans 6.9.1 & J2EE 6 & Shared Library Directory = Classpath errors

Wohoo,
starting as a forum newbie....again :s
Anyway, I've run into some troubles during the setup of my very first J2EE 6 project in Netbeans. I've installed Netbeans 6.9.1 and the included Glassfish v3 server runtime. Then I've created a new J2EE 6 project using Netbeans J2EE project wizard. Said wizard has an option: "Use shared library directory". I ticked this option and specified the shared library directory to be "lib". Then I've added JAR files to it, but somehow this JARs are not added to the classpath of the dependent EJB and Web project. Any time I try to import a class from one of the EAR libraries I get the compile-time ClassNotFound error in the IDE.
I'm a seasoned Eclipse user, and only recently have switched over to Netbeans (mostly out of curiosity). In Eclipse the ${EarProject}/lib folder was automatically recognized as the EAR's lib folder, and any JAR files added to it where available for all J2EE modules in the EAR project. After consulting the integrated Netbeans help on the topic I was convinced that this should work the same in Netbeans. Can any experienced Netbeans developer assist me in this please?
PS: I'm sorry if this is the inappropriate forum category, but the old "Netbeans" category from the Sun Forums seems to have disappeared during the forum transition.
EDIT: on an unrelated note I'd like to bring to your attention that this is the first "real Java question" in this forum :D ("Wohoo this is new" posts don't count)

  • How to use J2EE shared library in a team environment? Any help?

    Hi all,
    I've created two portal web projects one as a shared library to share my portal resources (a saparate project
    containging all the portlets) rather than the portal project that containing the other portal resources (portal look &
    feel & ...).
    I've followed the steps to create a J2EE shared library (for portlets for example) by modifying META-INF/MANIFEST.MF file with the following variables added to it:
    Extension-Name: MyPortalWebProject (as a shared library)
    Specification-Version: 1.0
    Implementation-Version: 1.0
    and exporting the WAR file from the project that contains my portlets to be imported into the other portal project.
    I can see the portlets available from the portal project but I can't use them as I get the following
    error:
    No such portlet with URI (Portlet Name).
    Did I miss any steps to be able to use the portlets from the shared library into another portal project?
    If anyone has another scenario for how to separate all portlets in a separate project and share this with the main
    portal project, please advice.
    Many Thanks in advance.
    Mohamed

    Hello, did you attempted to use by Stream Portal?

  • Shared library extended class Error #1065: Variable is not defined

    Right, bit of a complicated set-up  here. I've got a class structure which includes the View class:
    com.website.buttons.MyButton
    Then i've got a shared library swc called sharedassets.swc  that contains a MovieClip in the library that uses  'com.website.buttons.MyButton' as its 'Linkage Properties' base class,  extending with the following empty class:
    com.website.timeline.sharedassets.BackButton
    Then i've got a second  swc that  imports the BackButton mc into its own library as a shared library asset, and uses an instance of  it on the stage in a MovieClip of it's own called LinearNavBar.  LinearNavBar's Linkage Properties are thus:
    Class: com.website.timeline.sequence.LinearNavBar
    Base class: com.website.navigation.LinearNavbar
    Again, 'com.website.navigation.LinearNavbar' is an actual class in the code base, whilst 'com.website.timeline.sequence.LinearNavBar' does not exits (ie: its dynamically created by the swc at compile time). 'Automatically declare stage instances' is unchecked
    Over in the class structure in my  Flash Builder project, I've got another class
    com.website.navigation.Sequence
    Which instantiates a new version of  LinearNavBar and adds it to the stage:
    var navBar:Navbar = new LinearNavBar();
    addChild(navBar);
    At which point the following error is  shown:
    ReferenceError: Error #1065: Variable BackButton is not defined.
    It seems Flash Builder cannot find 'com.website.timeline.sharedassets.BackButton', even though BOTH compiled swcs are included as part of the projects.
    What gives, my friends? I am most heartily perplexed.

    I have on the permit debugging option but it says nothing but these errors
    ReferenceError: Error #1065: Variable Button is not defined.
    ReferenceError: Error #1065: Variable ComponentShim is not defined.
    ReferenceError: Error #1065: Variable LoaderProV3AS3 is not defined.

    To redeploy it, I have to delete the shared library and install it once again.
    Any help? I'm using WLP 10.3.2
    Thanks,

    You need to wrap your JAR file within a WAR containing the MANIFEST highlighting the version of the library and the JAR file, you might also need a weblogic.xml file use the default one the jdev creates:
    LIBRARY.WAR
    |--META-INF
    |--|---MANIFEST.MF
    |--WEB-INF
    |--|--weblogic.xml
    |--|--lib
    |----|--LIBRARY.JAR

  • Shared library for  MyFaces Trinidad

    Hello!
    I'm having some trouble trying to create a shared library in OC4J 10.1.3.3.0. My goal is to deploy multiple applications that use MyFaces and Trinidad, but using a shared library that contains every JAR required.
    This is what I've done so far:
    1. I created the directory D:\workspace\oc4j_10.1.3\j2ee\home\shared-lib\sidi\1 and put there every JAR included in MyFaces Trinidad Demo.
    2. Edited server.xml and added the following lines:
    <shared-library name="sidi" version="1">
    <code-source path="*"/>
    </shared-library>
    3.- Edited the orion-application.xml in each application that needs MyFaces Trinidad support and added the following lines:
    <imported-shared-libraries>
    <import-shared-library name="sidi" />
    </imported-shared-libraries>
    When I try to run any application that uses MyFaces Trinidad, I get this error message:
    java.lang.IllegalStateException: No Factories configured for this Application. This happens if the faces-initialization does not work at all - make sure that you properly include all configuration settings necessary for a basic faces application and that all the necessary libs are included. Also check the logging output of your web application and your container for any exceptions!
    If you did that and find nothing, the mistake might be due to the fact that you use some special web-containers which do not support registering context-listeners via TLD files and a context listener is not setup in your web.xml.
    A typical config looks like this;
    <listener> <listener-class>org.apache.myfaces.webapp.StartupServletContextListener</listener-class>
    </listener>

    If I place the JARs inside each WEB-INF/lib the applications work, but I'm trying to avoid doing this to have smaller EARs when the applications are packaged for deployment in the production servers.
    What am I doing wrong? Hope you can help me with this.

    Hi Aram,
    The default behaviour of OC4J is to NOT run the listeners provided inside the taglibs. As for java server faces, tomahawk and trinidad use taglibs that rely on the listener configured in the tld file
    You'd need not only to deploy the "shared library", but also, drop the jars in the $OC4J/j2ee/home/taglibs directory
    And, make sure that in your "global-web-application.xml" you have:
    <orion-web-app
    [... whatever ...]
         jsp-cache-tlds="on"
         jsp-taglib-locations="../taglibs"
    >
    that means, the attribute "jsp-taligb-locations is defined for the orion-web-app tag. With that, the listener is going to be loaded, and you'd not need to configure it in the web.xml

  • How can I load shared library in my application ?

    Could anybody please help ??
    Thanks

    LD_LIBRARY_PATH doesn't always work well on linux. Try copying the library to /usr/lib and then refreshing the cache by issuing "ldconfig -v" and verify that your library has been catalogued. If your library needs to be located in another path, you may have to edit "/etc/ld.so.conf" prior to running ldconfig.

  • Unable to see shared library

    I searched for and read about a dozen previous posts on this subject but was unable to find a solution. Not only can I not see any shared library but I don't even have a "shared" menu item on either PC as described in the help file. It should show up under the Library>Music heading?
    Both PC's:
    ...can connect to the internet
    ...can transfer files back and forth
    ...can see each others "Shared Docs" directory
    ...have iTunes and Bonjour listed as exceptions in Windows Firewall
    ...have the latest verions of iTunes and Bonjour
    When I point the iTunes Music Folder location on the 'remote' PC to the iTunes Music Folder on the 'host' PC, it finds it, see's it, and then asks if I want to update (the view)? to match? I said yes. Still the same list of songs that are physically on the remote PC and nowhere does it say anything about sharing or give any indication that it is aware of the host library.
    What am I not getting?

    "iTunes Sharing, the built-in feature, has nothing to do with pointing your iTunes Music folder setting to a shared folder on another computer. Those are two separate features/capabilities."
    Yes, I get that - I was just trying everything I could think of to make it see my shared library.
    "do you have Sharing and "Look for shared" turned on in the iTunes Sharing preferences?"
    Yes.
    "you want to have your iTunes library using the shared folder on your other computer, you need to use the Add Folder to Library command to get the tracks into the iTunes library listing"
    Not quite sure what your getting at here. The help file for sharing the entire library gives 3 simple steps and then says "its name appears in the iTunes window (below Shared) on other local computers (in the same subnet) set up to look for shared libraries." - obviously this is not happening.
    The whole reason to share and use the host library is specifically to avoid having to manually add tracks/folders from the remote PC.

  • Adding shared library to project fails

    We've created a shared library of content and look & feel updates to Portal 9.2 mp1.
    Started by creating a new web and app project. Made sure it works in a test portal.
    I followed Floyd Jones instructions on creating shared J2EE libs.
    Created a "simple project" copied the files (with exception of the webcontent folder - but all its contents). Created the Manifest file. Saved it as a .war in the modules folder.
    Create a new web and app project for testing. When I pull in the library, portal doesn't seem to work following the instructions (Can't find WebLogic J2EE Libraries option to add). So I add the J2EE libraries via the project properties. When I link to the war file, the manifest information does not appear. Instead just the name of the actual .war file.
    I can add the versions. Workshop requires me to edit the weblogic.xml file to pull in the library.
    But no luck. My suspicion is there's something wrong with the library as it can't read the manifest. When I open the manifest inside the .war file all the information is there.
    Any idea what I'm doing wrong?
    Thanks...martin

    you'll have to physically put all the songs on to the computer that doesnt have it. to do this go to start>my network places and if you are on a network his computer should show up. You'll probably need to enable sharing for your My Music folder (just assuming thats where you music is at) and just copy it over.

  • How can I use a shared library made with the application builder?

    Hi,
    I am using LabVIEW 7.1 running on Slackware 10.1 (kernel 2.4.29) and I am trying to call a graph display from a C program that I use for debugging VME access from a VMIVME controler. So using the application builder I built the VI as a shared library (graph.vi -> graph.so) containing a function called "graph". In my main program the call to the dlopen fails with the error: "graph.so: undefined symbol: UninitLVClient". When I examin graph.so with nm I see that UninitLVClient and other LabVIEW functions are indeed undefined and using ldd shows that graph.so has dependencies only on libc.so.* and *linux*.so.* but not on LabVIEW related stuff. Those functions are defined in the liblv.so that's in the cintools directory but I have no idea if the user is supposed to use that.
    So I think I am missing an important concept here. Can somebody help or direct me to some documentation (I found lots of information about how to link external code to LabVIEW but nothing about how to link LabVIEW code to an external program)?

    Thanks Watermann,
    your message has been very useful so now I am linking to the proper library but I still have problems when trying to load dynamically the shared library produced with LabVIEW. It is strange that I could successfully load the lvrt library at loading time but it does not work when I am loading the library at execution time.
    I made a small LabVIEW program that prints a hello window and I am calling it from a C program. In the first program main.c I am linking to the lvrt library at loading time and it works but in the second one I am linking dynamically at execution time and it does not work. For my work I need to be able to load code done in LabVIEW at execution time. Any help is appreciated!
    Program main.c:
    // small program to call a LabVIEW shared library
    #include
    #include
    #include "hello.h" // got this from the LabVIEW builder, i.e. when I made the hello.so
    int main(void)
    printf("Hello from C!\nLets call LabVIEW now\n");
    hello();
    printf("Bye ... \n");
    return 0;
    The command to compile main.c, i.e. linking shared library lvrt when loading main program:
    gcc -Wall -I /usr/local/lv71/cintools/ -o main main.c hello.so -l lvrt
    The LD_LIBRARY_PATH has been defined and exported:
    $ LD_LIBRARY_PATH=$PWD
    $ export LD_LIBRARY_PATH
    IT WORKS!
    Program main2.c:
    // small program to call a LabVIEW shared library
    #include
    #include
    #include
    int main(void)
    void * h_lvrt;
    void * h_hello;
    void (* hello)(void);
    char * error;
    printf("Hello from C!\nLets call LabVIEW now\n");
    // open LabVIEW RunTime shared library
    // in my computer located at /usr/local/lib/liblvrt.so
    h_lvrt = dlopen("/usr/local/lib/liblvrt.so", RTLD_NOW);
    // check for error
    error = dlerror();
    if (error) {
    printf("error : could not open LabVIEW RunTime library\n");
    printf("%s\n", error);
    return 1;
    // open hello shared library
    // in my computer located at /home/darss/lv_call/hello.so
    h_hello = dlopen("hello.so", RTLD_NOW);
    // check for error
    error = dlerror();
    if (error) {
    // close LabVIEW RunTime shared library
    dlclose(h_lvrt);
    printf("error : could not open hello library\n");
    printf("%s\n", error);
    return 1;
    // get function hello from library hello.so
    hello = dlsym(h_hello, "hello");
    // check for error
    error = dlerror();
    if (error) {
    // close hello shared library
    dlclose(h_hello);
    // close LabVIEW RunTime shared library
    dlclose(h_lvrt);
    printf("error : could not get the hello function\n");
    printf("%s\n", error);
    return 1;
    // call hello function
    hello();
    // close hello shared library
    dlclose(h_hello);
    // close LabVIEW RunTime shared library
    dlclose(h_lvrt);
    printf("Bye ... \n");
    return 0;
    The command to compile main2.c, i.e. dynamically linking library lvrt at execution of main2 program:
    gcc -Wall -o main2 main2.c -l dl
    The LD_LIBRARY_PATH still defined and exported.
    IT DOES NOT WORK!
    Program output:
    Hello from C!
    Lets call LabVIEW now
    error : could not open hello library
    /home/darss/lv_call/hello.so: undefined symbol: WaitLVDLLReady

  • Resource bundle in shared library?

    Is it possible to create a resource bundle in a shared library so you can use the same resource bundle in different application?
    We are creating different ADF application and each of them should use the same resource bundle.
    I tried creating a new project that only contains the resource bundle and then add this to my jspx page:
    <c:set var="res"
             value="#{adfBundle['general.resources.generalBundle]}"/>When i do this, he can't find any entries. When i change the project properties and configure to use a single bundle for the entire project, this works.
    How can i share a bundle so each application does not need to create or copy/paste the bundle?
    Is it possible to deploy the bundle as a shared library? Even if their is nothing else, not even a single java class?

    Try to create a JAR with the resource file in it (under /META-INF) and add it as a library in your project.
    If it does not work, try to create a faces-config.xml file inside that directory that declares the resource file.
    I think it gets merged at runtime with the config of your application and resource bundle should be available.

  • How to catch exception from shared library on Linux?

    Description:
    JNI dynamically loads shared library. Shared library throws exception (class CTestException). JNI can not catch it by CTestException name, only (...) works.
    My config:
    Linux RH AS 4 (x86 64)
    gcc: 3.4.5
    glib: 2.2.5
    Java 1.5.0_06
    g++ compiler options for JNI and shared libraries:
    g++ -Wl,-E -fPIC -shared ...
    There are multiple bugs on Java bugs database regarding C++ ABI incompatibility between Java binaries and stdc++ libraries linked with native code. But I could not find any conclusions on these bugs. Only plans/suggestions to recompile Java on new gcc. These bugs were quite old (regarding Java 1.3, 1.4). Now 1.6 is available but still there is same incompatibility. Maybe I am missing something and there is a way to fix this problem? Like to use specific gcc/glib versions for compilation? How people solve such problems? Any help is appreciated.

    It isn't any different; the commands are the same. You can find the exp executable in tehe $ORACLE_HOME/bin directory.

  • Could not initialize AM in shared library

    Hello, I have some problem.
    I deployed adf-library as a shared library on weblogic. This library is a real application packed in jar, and then in war as is described here http://andrejusb.blogspot.com/2010/07/deploying-adf-applications-as-shared.html The problem is that when I call taskFlow in this library from another application, I get an exception: libraries application module could not be initialized:
    oracle.jbo.JboException: JBO-29000: java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError, Could not initialize class com.rstyle.rtn.model.module.CompanyAMImpl

    I’ll be very grateful for any idea about what is wrong and how to fix this.

    codeplay, thanks for your reply, but it doesn’t help, classpath doesn’t contain my adf-lib jar, but it also hasn’t another jars which works correctly. May be it is because wls-cat works incorrect on 11.1.1.2.0 version, because it is for 11.1.1.4.0. There is this jar into application temp directory on weblogic.
    I thought that my AMImpl can’t be initialized because there can’t be find something imported in it. But I’ve checked all dependencies and all seems correct. I also tried to use “prefer-web-inf-classes” property but no result.
    h0s, I added reference to my library in the weblogic.xml. I think the problem is not because my library is “shared”, if I add jar to project as a common adf-library there is the same result.
