CLASSPATH not working !

I'm on Windows XP.
I have three jar files - the Microsoft SQL Server 2000 jar files - msbase.jar, msutil.jar and mssqlserver.jar.
I have copied them everywhere I can think of and set the CLASSPATH and even tried using the -classpath switch - I still get the error class not found.
I've copied them into the current directory, into the lib directory the lib\ex directory.
What am I doing wrong ?

I'm using the appletviewer as it's just a test applet to talk to SQL Server 2000.
Does the classpath switch work with appletviewer ?

  • Jdk 1.4 install - "." in Classpath not working

    Hello friends,
    I have installed jdk1.4. However "javac" won't compile files that include classes in the current dir:
    import classname;
    I keep getting error
    import classname;
    ^ "." expected.
    But the first thing in my CLASSPATH is ".;..".
    I don't see why it is not working properly. The system is windows 2000, and it was set up as enviroment variable. It worked fine with jdk1.3.
    Help!

    Found the problem - since they are in the same dir, shouldn't include them in "import..." at all.

  • Setting classpath not working in java control panelr of jre1.5

    -Dawt.toolkit=ttt.util.ProxyToolkit -cp ; ;C:\TTTHTML\TestingTool\tttruntime_v1.2.jar;
    when I place above path in java control pannel as runtime parameters
    browser is crashing in java 1.5 but in java 1.4 its working fine.
    Another observation i have made is that runtime parameters your specifiying in java control panel if there not there in the specfied location
    in java 1.4 version browser crashes but in java 1.5 it wont crash.
    You can give garbage parameters browser wont crash in jre1.5 where as in jre1.4 browser will crash

    Blah. It seems absurd that it doesn't work, but I've spent several hours at it and have gotten no further.
    For now I'm just resigned to the fact that I won't be able to have HTML in the JTextPane if I also want components.
    No one has any ideas?

  • Set CLASSPATH does not work, how do I run java.exe?

    Hi guys,
    I have a problem running the java.exe and I'm using Win XP. Here is my problem:
    Under the command prompt, I set the path: path = C:\Program Files\Java 2\j2sdk1.4.2_05\bin
    Then I created a folder in E:\Hello. I save my Hello.java in that folder, and I compiled it:
    javac Hello.java
    Now, there is a Hello.class created in that folder.
    Then I try to run it: java Hello
    but I got an error: "Exception in thread "main" java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: Hello"
    So, I try to set CLASSPATH, however, the problem remains, no matter how hard I try.
    Any ideas?

    None of the suggestion worked, I wonder why???
    Here is my location for the JDK:
    C:\Program Files\Java 2\j2sdk1.4.2_05\bin
    Here is my location for my Java project file:
    E:\JavaProject\Hello
    Here is the file name:
    Hello.java
    Here is the command prompt:
    C:\Documents and Settings\Alex Ngai> e:
    E:\> cd JavaProject
    E:\JavaProject> cd Hello
    E:\JavaProject\Hello> path = C:\Program Files\Java
    2\j2sdk1.4.2_05\bin
    E:\JavaProject\Hello> javac Hello.java
    E:\JavaProject\Hello> java Hello
    Exception in thread "main"
    java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: Hello
    E:\JavaProject\Hello> java -cp Hello
    // Does not work, it lists all of the options for java
    E:\JavaProject\Hello> set CLASSPATH =
    E:\JavaProject\Hello
    CLASSPATH="C:\Program

    E:\JavaProject\Hello> java Hello
    Exception in thread "main"
    java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: Hello
    // I have tried a lot more, none of them won't work!!
    Now what should I try in the following command prompt?
    E:\JavaProject\Hello>Given the above there is only one possible explaination.
    You have a file named "Hello.java".
    In that file you have a non-public class which is NOT named "Hello". Instead it is named something like "HelloWorld" or even "hello" (case matters.)

    Hello,
    The first step if to find the PL/SQL line causing the error in 'cf_1formula':
    create a procedure Trace in your Reports : (modify the line trace_file := Text_IO.Fopen('d:\temp\rep_trace.txt', 'A'); to adapt the filename to your system)
    PROCEDURE Trace (trace_string in varchar2) IS
    trace_file Text_IO.File_Type;
    BEGIN
    trace_file := Text_IO.Fopen('d:\temp\rep_trace.txt', 'A');
    Text_IO.Put_Line(trace_file, trace_string);
    Text_IO.Fclose (trace_file);
    END;
    Then, add some calls to this procedure in the program unit 'cf_1formula'
    trace('Before line 1';
    <PL/SQL code of line 1>
    trace('Before line 2';
    <PL/SQL code of line 2>
    trace('Before line 3';
    <PL/SQL code of line 3>
    Excecute the Reports and find in the file 'd:\temp\rep_trace.txt' the last line executed.

  • Crystal Report not works in JAR File

    I'm using Eclipse All in one, which includes Crystal Reports.. I Connected my Java program with Crystal Reports and its working properly. Now my problem is that the Report is not working in JAR files.. It throws some exception as

    Anybody help me please...

    Unable to load database connector
    'com.crystaldecisions.reports.queryengine..driverImpl.

    now you have any idea.. pleaseIs that a typo where you have two periods below?
    queryengine..driverImplOther than that I don't think anybody here can help you with that. If your classpath includes all necessary JAR files and you are able to access all your resources from within your application JAR file, then I imagine there is a problem with the third-party crystal decisions JAR file or how you are attempting to use it.
    My advice to you is to try and contact support with the vendor or provider of this API or possibly try posting on a support forum on their website to see if somebody can help you there.

  • Runtime.exe() is not working from within a jar file.

    Hi All,
    I have a jar file which have classes and a package in it.
    One of these classes is calling another class which is present in the package.
    The code i am using it is as follows:
    Runtime r=Runtime.getRuntime();
    Process p=null;
    p=r.exec("java deep.slideshow.PlayShow");It is working fine when i am executing it without making jar file.
    But when i make a jar file of all these things , this exec() is not working.
    I have tried a lot.
    If any body has any idea suggest me.
    Thanks

    thanks a lot for your reply friend.
    I tried the same you tell me to do by using the cmd;
    java -cp my.jar package.class  And then tried to make the jar file with the help of eclipse,
    after adding my jar file into classpath of my project in eclipse.
    Its working fine on my local system.
    But when i put this jar file on some other system it does not call my jar file(obviously bcz it will not the find the jar file according to the classpath set on my local system. )
    Is there any way that i can keep this jar into my project and then can give the classpath dynamically
    so that it can pick the file from my project automatically.?
    Later on i will pack this whole thing into a full jar file and it will work on a single click.
    Is it possible or not ?
    Please suggest me.
    Thanks

  • For the 10^6 time -- JMF on Fedora does not work!

    I've tried everything under the Sun (no pun intended), and I've seen many other people with this same problem, but no solution...
    (1) I installed the performance pack version of JMF 2.1.1 for Linux.
    (2) I modified my .bash_profile to read as follows...
    PATH=/usr/java/j2re1.4.2_06/bin:$PATH
    export PATH
    JAVA_HOME=/usr/java/j2re1.4.2_06
    export JAVA_HOME
    JMFHOME=/usr/java/JMF-2.1.1e
    CLASSPATH=$JMFHOME/lib/jmf.jar:.:${CLASSPATH}
    export JMFHOME CLASSPATH
    LD_LIBRARY_PATH=$JMFHOME/lib:${LD_LIBRARY_PATH}
    (3) Just to beat a dead horse, I even copied-pasted the following:
    /JMF-2.1.1e/lib/*.jar --> /usr/java/j2re1.4.2_06/lib/ext/
    /JMF-2.1.1e/lib/*.so --> /usr/java/j2re1.4.2_06/lib/i386/
    both *.jar and *.so --> /usr/mozilla/plugins/
    (4) But when I try running the online diagnostic applet
    http://java.sun.com/products/java-media/jmf/2.1.1/jmfdiagnostics.html
    I get the following:
    Java 1.1 compliant browser.....Maybe
    JMF classes.....Not Found
    and none of the sample JMF apps on the Sun website work.
    Any clues at all??? Does JMF not work on Fedora???
    I guess I'll just keep asking this question every few days until someone from Sun answers?
    Thanks anyways...

    Yes, I didn't make that clear (first thing in the morning). Even though the JMF Diagnostic applet doesn't work for me on RedHat 9.0 using the Java Plugin with JDK 1.4.2, JMF DOES work for me from the command line. It seems that the Java 1.4.2 Plugin isn't finding JMF on the path. For me, the Java 1.5 Plugin resolves this issue.

  • Type-mapping not working correctly, get "Unable to find a javaType for the xmlType" WARNING

    I'm manually creating a web-services.xml file, and using the autogen ant task to
    generate the codec XML/Java classes. The XML definition is provided by SAP.
    The ant build.xml file:
    <project name="buildWebservice" default="stubgen">
    <target name="stubgen">
    <clientgen ear="C:\projects\RMIS\ifrrequests\RMIS.ear"

    autotype="False" />
    </target>
    <target name="all" depends="stubgen"/>
    </project>
    The problem is seen below in the output from Ant. Note the WARNINIG. The problem
    is that the xml type cannot be mapped to the Java type.
    C:\projects\RMIS\ifrrequests>ant -buildfile clientbuild.xml

    The Java source that has the implementation of the service methods is simply:
    package com.aa.rmis.webservice;
    import com.aa.rmis.ifr.request.*;
    public class TestService
    public TestService()
    public int serviceRequest(PaymentRequestCreate request)
    System.out.println("Received serviceRequest message");
    return 0;
    public void testStringRequest(String request)
    The web-service.xml file is attached, which contains the schema for the SAP PaymentRequest.Create
    object definition.
    Another problem I have, which is probably related, is that the service method
    that has a complex data type (non-built in data type) is not being deployed into
    the WebLogic server. But the other service method that simply takes a String
    parameter is.
    The steps I took are:
    1. Get XML from SAP Interface Repository (IFR) for PaymentRequest
    2. Use ant task autogen to generate the request codec classes
    3. Create the web-services.xml file by inserting the schema definition and the
    mapping file created by the autogen task, and defining the operations
    4. Build web-services.war file that contains all autogen compiled class files,
    the web-services.xml file, and the service implementation class
    5. Build the ear file that holds the web service files
    6. Use the clientgen ant task to generate (included above) to generate the client
    jar file that should contain the proxy for both of the service methods
    Environment:
    * WebLogic 7.02
    * JDK 1.3.1_06
    * JBuilder 9 Enterprise
    * Ant 1.4
    Possible causes:
    * Namespace not being used correctly
    * copied verbatim the mapping xml file generated by autogen into the web-services.xml
    file
    * xml-schema part of web-services.xml might not be set correctly
    * operation definition might not be using the correct namespace
    * Classpath used for ant might not be right
    * Doubt this is the problem, but I'm out of other ideas
    * Set by using the setWLEnv.cmd file provided by WebLogic
    * Tried adding the generated classes directory for my project to the classpath,
    but did not work
    I've been referencing the Programming WebLogic Web Services document throughout
    this entire process. I must be missing something.
    Can anybody from BEA help me out with this problem?
    Thanks in advance.
    [web-services.xml]

    Hi JD,
    I spent a few cycles looking over your web-services.xml file, however I
    don't have any suggestions other that one that looks like you have
    already tried, at the top, in the <schema...>
    targetNamespace="urn:sap-com:document:sap:business"
    Making edits to these generated files can be tricky and my only
    suggestion is to create a small reproducer to run by our outstanding
    support team.
    A quick look at our problem database shows one issue (CR095109) related
    to a similar problem at deploy time that was fixed with 7.0SP3. Again,
    the support folks will be able to help focus in on the issue.

    * Tried adding the generated classes directory for my project to
    the classpath,
    but did not work
    I've been referencing the Programming WebLogic Web Services document
    throughout
    this entire process. I must be missing something.
    Can anybody from BEA help me out with this problem?
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi,
    I got solution to my problem of webservice is not working in CF8.
    the problem was
    we have already a "rt.jar" file in a location and we defined this location in CF Admin >> java jvm >> classpath
    so this file was conflicting.
    i simply removes this file path from CF Admin.
    and restart the CF services.
    and my web service start working.

  • Crystal Report not working in JAR File

    I am using Eclipse All in one, which includes the Crystal Report... I Finished every thing and the Crystal Report is working in Eclipse.. But its not working in JAR files.. Anybody suggest me WHICH FILES SHOULD BE SET AS CLASSPATHS FOR CREATING THIS JAR FILE...
    Thanks in advance

    Unable to load database connector
    'com.crystaldecisions.reports.queryengine..driverImpl.
    DriverLoader
    now you have any idea.. pleaseIs that a typo where you have two periods below?
    queryengine..driverImplOther than that I don't think anybody here can help you with that.

  • JasperReports does not work outside Netbeans

    Hi guys,
    Background story: application with a couple of forms, the data can be stored and saved from a sqlite database. In the end the forms need to be saved as a PDF.
    Netbeans 6.7, JasperReports 4.0.2.
    Libraries in my Classpath: Commons-beanutils, Commons collections, commons digester, commons javaflow, commons logging, iText, Jasperreports
    I tried to use JasperReports for this matter. It runs perfectly when in Netbeans, and my PDF is generated.
    However, when I try to run the compiled .jar file from windows explorer... the whole JasperReports part does not work at all.
    I made a simple example showing my problem. It produces a nice 1 line PDF when in netbeans, but outside Netbeans, nothing again.
    Could you give me some advice on this? Or maybe an alternative for JasperReports?
    Thanks alot,

    I pretty sure that the problem is the BarcodeMaker.java class in the oraclebarcode.jar. I got the barcode example to work locally (on Windows XP) in reports builder, but I couldn't run it in our webApp on a Solaris appServer. However, I was actually just doing the barcode example to learn how to display gantt charts in a report. So I wrote a simple java class called GantChartTest that uses the JFreeChart API to create a gantt chart as a jpg. I followed the bar code example almost exactly and my gantt charts did show up on the Solaris appServer. Here's my imagefilename function:
    function ImageFilenameFormula return VarChar2 is
    myFileName varchar2(500);
    result varchar2(500);
    thePhase VarChar2(50) := :phase;
    estStartDate VarChar2(50) := :est_start_date;
    estEndDate VarChar2(50) := :est_end_date;
    wipActualStartDate VarChar2(50) := :wip_actual_start_date;
    wipActualEndDate VarChar2(50) := :wip_actual_end_date;
    begin
         myFileName := srw.create_temporary_filename;
         GantChartTest.createGanttChart(globals.bcobj, thePhase, estStartDate, estEndDate, wipActualStartDate, wipActualEndDate, myFileName);
         return(myFileName);
    end;
