Classpath per EAR file

System:
- Sun Java System Application Server 7 2004Q2
- OS: Windows 2000 Professional
- JVM: 1.4.2_04
Does the "library" directory, inside EAR file (at the EAR root) works as a classpath ?
The Assembly Tool, has an option to add libraries to the EAR file, where this action, just creates a
directory called "library", at the root of EAR file and put there the libraries (JAR files). Does this works as
classpath when deployed to SunOne 7 2004Q2 ?
I need this because my EAR app, has 2 webcontexts and 1 JAR module (around 12 EJBs)
each one has common libraries, where I want to put inside the EAR file, and don't want replicated
libraries along the modules (web and ejb).
Do you have some suggestion ?
Thanks in advance.

  • JMS Listener classpath and EAR files

    I am trying to deploy our application using the EAR file format on Weblogic

    In order to use JMS sessionPools, we call

    Can any one tell me in which classpath this listener class should be defined

    Is there any way around this (apart from putting it in the System class

  • JSPC classpath and .ear files (WLS6.0)

              We're just beginning to use weblogic 6.0, and would like to make use of the .ear file format for deployment. The odd thing is that the system seems to have a problem with compiling JSPs that rely on our code that's bundled in the jsp as an EJB element.
              We tried placing the non-ejb specific code outside the EJB jar file and in the war file's web-inf/lib directory, but the EJB woudln't deploy. So we stuffed all our non-web specific classes in one big jar, named it the EJB jar for the .ear file, and deployed the whole mess.
              The EJB jar deploys fine, but now the JSP's inside the WAR file won't compile because the system doesn't automatically know how to find the .jar file inside the .ear file.
              What should we do? Thanks in advance for any help,
              Tim

  • Can I specify classpath in MANIFEST.MF of a ear file?

    Hi,
    I know that one can specify classpath in MANIFEST.MF of a jar file, I'd like to know whether I can specify classpath in MANIFEST.MF of a ear file?
    If yes, will the classpath specified affect all j2ee components in this ear file?(e.g. jar files,war files)
    Thanks

    Unfortunately, yes, you'd have to edit the MANIFEST.MF
    of each module within the .ear that has a dependency on
    the bundled library. One workaround is to add the common
    code to the server's classpath. However, that approach
    doesn't work if the common code has dependencies on the
    code packaged within the ejb-jars and .wars themselves.

  • Servlet can not find classes in ear file, only in system classpath.

    Hi,
              My servlet "DataServlet" is included in ear/war file.
              When I try to reach it:
              http://www.mysite.com/DataServlet
              Servlet starts execute doPost() and throw Exception ClassNotFound.
              All classes inculuded in ear files and all jsp working fine.
              It works like standalone servlet and not as part of web application.
              Maybe, there is problem in context root?
              web.xml configuration:
              <servlet-mapping>
              <servlet-name>
              DataServlet
              </servlet-name>
              <url-pattern>
              /DataServlet
              </url-pattern>
              </servlet-mapping>
              application.xml configuration:
              <web>
              <web-uri>data.war</web-uri>
              <context-root>data</context-root>
              </web>
              Thanks,
              Oleg.

    Is the ClassNotFoundException on the DataServlet class, or a class the DataServlet class is trying to use?
              Did you try <http://www.mysite.com/data/DataServlet>?
              I would recommend you always define your classes in packages, as opposed to the default package, which you appear to be using. You'll run into problems down the line if you use the default package.

  • How to change web-app display name within EAR file?

    Currently we are deploying an EAR file (which contains a web-app and an EJB) per
    BEA recommendations. The web-app shows up on the admin console with '/' as the
    name. Is there anyway to change this to the name I want?
    thx,
    Matt

    FYI - here is the entire content of applicaiton.xml in the EAR file we deploy:
    <!DOCTYPE application PUBLIC '-//Sun Microsystems, Inc.//DTD J2EE Application
    1.3//EN' 'http://java.sun.com/dtd/application_1_3.dtd'>
    <application>

    No, you can't change that in the console. It's defined in the application's
    application.xml
    descriptor file.

  • How to access a jar file in EAR file?

    I have a EAR file which contains EJB.jar file and util.jar file. Outside of EAR, I mean in client side, I need to reference util.jar file. How can I access it?
    EAR structure is
    |--+META-INF/
    |--|---application.xml
    |--|---manifest.mf
    |--EJB.jar
    |--|---+MEAT-INF/
    |--|---|--- deployment descriptors...
    |--|---|--- manifest.mf
    |--|--- EJB classes
    |--Util.jar
    Util.jar must be executed in server side. If I just add Util.jar in client program's classpath, when client program is executed, serverside Util.jar is executed? Or what else I should do in the client program to reference server-side Util.jar?

    Excellent question. I don't see any client-jar in your EAR file structure. So I am assuming you are writing a separate client application which will talk to the ejbs deployed as part of this EAR. You need to do the following:
    Write another EAR file with the following structure:
    ear:
    META-INF/application.xml
    util.jar
    client.jar
    client.jar should have a META-INF/MANIFEST.MF and that should contain Class-Path:util.jar and value for Main-Class attribute.
    Now deploy this new ear to your application server and execute it using Application Client Container that comes with your app server.
    If you don't want to write another EAR file, then bundle th client.jar in your original EAR file.
    Points to note are:
    you have to repackage util.jar again inside this ear file.
    For portability reason, you should use Class-Path manifest entry in client.jar. Refer to http://java.sun.com/j2ee/verified/packaging.html and J2EE platform spec section #8.2.
    Hope this helps,
    Sahoo

  • Problems while deploying a war file as a part of ear file

    Hello!!!
              Is there a weblogic or Sun reference document to find out the correct way to specify library paths or class paths when one is trying to deploy a WAR file as a part of an EAR file?
              I have been having lot of trouble and very sporadic too in getting stuff to work correctly.
              -Eagle

    OK! I found something the very hard way. For my J2EE application packaged as an ear file containing one ejb module in an ejb-jar file and one web module in my .war file; further, noting that my web module is a struts application; it appears that the dependent jar libraries should be placed in the EAR file and a MANIFEST classpath entry should be added to the ejb-jar file's manifest - even for the WAR to work correctly. the presence or absence of dependent jar files in the "lib" directory of the WAR file makes no difference for the working of the WAR file.
              Is this behavior that I am seeing on my weblogic 8.1 server a documented and expected behavior? I am not too sure. did anyone else have such an experience?

    We have determined that you need to redeploy Forms (using txkChkFormsDeployment.pl).
    But could not do it automatically for you, due to some issues.
    For details refer the log files.
    Follow Note: 397174.1 to redeploy Forms manually.
    I then try and deploy a new Forms EAR file as per doc 397174.1 and run into errors as follows:

    How do I fix this?

    Still the same issue, yes.
    I have already logged an SR for this, but all is very quiet on that front.
    One funny, is that this HOME was never attached to the orainst.loc, so I did it manually.
    When I try and run opatch with lsinventory parm, it does not list any patches, although there are patches installed, if you look at $OH/.patch_storage.
    Any idea of how I should attach this home correctly?

  • SAP Note 0001370334: Error while deploying EAR file

  • Error after Deploying a .ear File

    Hi,
    I have deployed an .ear file on the SAP J2EE engine 6.20 on EP6.0 sp2. When I access one of the JSP's, I am getting a NoClassDefFound exception even though the particular jar (xml-apis.jar) file containing the class is in the additional-lib directory. Also, the jar file has been added to the classpath in go.bat? What other changes are to be done for a successful deployment?
    Environment :EP6.0, sp2 hotfix4 on Windows 2003, MS SQL server DB.
    Please reply ASAP

    hello,
    have you tried including the 3rd party jar in your EAR file itself?
    i use a number of external jars in my web app and ejb, including some xml parsing classes. what i did was to put them all in the EAR, at the root level, in other words, not in a sub-directory. then in my WAR's meta-inf/MANIFEST.MF file reference them in the Class-path. do simililar thing for the ejbs if necessary.
    when you tried to use the inqxml instead, did you make a reference in manager/referecen.txt from your app to the inqmy library? if so, did you look into the inqmyxml.jar to see if the Node class is actually there?
