Classpath sourcepath question

Getting this error when trying to complete tutorial "creating JSP from business components".

Where are you getting this error, running, or compiling?
Do you have the library "JSP Runtime" in your project?

  • Flash default classPath / sourcePath

    I'm developing a utility application that gives all kinds of tools for flash designers. Some of the features requires me to install AS2 and AS3 classes and some include files.
    So the install processes needs to place actionscript files where flash IDE can find them.
    Includes and AS2 classes are easily placed under the user folder and AS3 classes are a bit harder.. In CS3 the default sourcePath is under the Flash IDE install directory, however CS4 doesn't seem to have any default source path directory when installed.
    The more 'elegant' solution is to save the classes to the utility application directory and edit the classPath / sourchPath, but I just can't find a way to do that
    So I have 2 questions:
    1. Is there a way to edit the classPath / sourchPath?
    2. Is there a default directory that CS4 is looking at when compiling an AS3 project?
    Thanks in advance,
    Ido

    File, Preferences, Actionscript, Actionscript 2.0/3.0
    You can set as many class paths as you would like.

  • Javac -classpath / -sourcepath does not work ?

    when i call javac in the current directory (where the java source files within subdirectories for package names) the compilation works. but when i go one directory up and want to use the -classpath or the -sourcepath options, i just get errors:
    D:\TEMP\Java>javac -classpath ./examples test/HelloWorld.java
    error: cannot read: test/HelloWorld.java
    1 error
    D:\TEMP\Java>javac -sourcepath ./examples test/HelloWorld.java
    error: cannot read: test/HelloWorld.java
    1 errorRunning javac in the directory D:\TEMP\Java\examples works ...

    nope, the doc for javac clearly says:
    "If the -sourcepath option is not specified, the user
    class path is searched for source files as well as
    class files. "
    (see
    http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.4.2/docs/tooldocs/windows/ja
    ac.html#options)Yes but this is in reference to dependent classes, as the page you referenced explains.
    The basic format of javac isjavac source_fileIf the source file needs other user classes, then the classpath is searched for either .class files or .java files.

  • Another simple classpath problem question

    Hi All
    Yes I know, there are a lots of questions about this matter, but I couldn't found a solution to my problem.
    I have a simple program:
    public class prueba {
            public static void main(String[] args) {
                    System.out.println("Ahi va...");
    }placed in /tmp/javier/prueba.java
    After compiled, I've tried to run it from / and then problems started:
    cd /
    java /tmp/javier/prueba
    Exception in thread "main" java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: /tmp/javier/prueba (wrong name: prueba)
    I said, ok...it could be a classpath problem...then:
    java -cp /tmp/javier/ /tmp/javier/prueba
    Exception in thread "main" java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: /tmp/javier/prueba
    Damn, another try...
    java -cp .:/tmp/javier/ /tmp/javier/prueba
    Exception in thread "main" java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: /tmp/javier/prueba (wrong name: prueba)
    Jesus Christ....may be the last slash....
    java -cp .:/tmp/javier /tmp/javier/prueba
    Exception in thread "main" java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: /tmp/javier/prueba (wrong name: prueba)
    Oh...no.... may be classpath to java classes..
    java -cp .:/usr/java/j2sdk1.4.2_01/lib/jre/:/tmp/javier/ /tmp/javier/prueba
    Exception in thread "main" java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: /tmp/javier/prueba (wrong name: prueba)
    Well, I don't know why this error happens....
    Please, could somebody help me !!!
    Thanks in advance...

    tmlHi
    thanks for your reply.
    Yes, I agree. I use conventions with my programs. But my real problem was with a real application and then I did quickly this simple code to help others to understand the problem and give a fast reply...
    Let me know if that works. (It was fine on my

  • Important non classpath related question

    Simple enought question.
    Danni or Kylie?

    I'd like to apologise about this comment yesterday
    "if you don't need it tomorrow, then you probably don't have very much use for it today, this is NOT a fallacy."
    I was feeling discombobulated with the program I was working on and had just deleted and eliminated the bug-ridden one rather than the the near-completed one - HATE IT WHEN THAT HAPPENS.
    PS: Kylie is an embarrassment and a disgrace to the entire female race
    (and her bum is 10x better than mine ever was or ever will be)

  • Another classpath-package question

    I have two classes residing in a directory called Record, and both classes declarepackage Record;as their first line of code. The RecordObject class instantiates the DBConnector class, and will not compile unless I strip the package declarations off both classes. The compile error for RecordObject (when both classes have the package directive) is:
    C:\jswdk-1.0.1\examples\WEB-INF\servlets\Record\RecordObj.java:9: cannot resolve symbol
    symbol : class DBConnector
    location: class Record.RecordObj
    static DBConnector dbc;
    ^
    C:\jswdk-1.0.1\examples\WEB-INF\servlets\Record\RecordObj.java:27: cannot resolve symbol
    symbol : variable DBConnector
    location: class Record.RecordObj
    connection = DBConnector.getInstance().getConnection();
    when only the RecordObject class has the package directive, the error is:
    C:\jswdk-1.0.1\examples\WEB-INF\servlets\Record\RecordObj.java:9: cannot access DBConnector
    bad class file: .\DBConnector.class
    class file contains wrong class: Record.DBConnector
    Please remove or make sure it appears in the correct subdirectory of the classpath.
    static DBConnector dbc;
    Following the recent classpath posts, I just changed my classpath, but this did not help the compilation:
    C:\>set CLASSPATH=%CLASSPATH%;C:\jswdk-1.0.1\examples\WEB-INF\servlets;
    ^

    This is even stranger:
    When I enter "set" in the dos window that I set the classpath in, I see my setting. However, if I open a separate dos window and enter "set", there is no CLASSPATH entry at all.
    When I try to compile my RecordObj class from the command line of the dos window with the classpath, all is fine. I had been compiling from Textpad before. But when I try to compile from the other dos shell, I get the same errors that TextPad showed me.
    Could somebody explain how setting the CLASSPATH only sets it in one dos window, and not in the total environment? Thanks.

  • J2ee, eclipse and classpath.

    Hey. First of all, sorry for another classpath-related question. I know there are many solutions for problems like that, my either my problem is different, or I just can't figure out the solution. This post can look like it's Spring-related, but I think it's because an improper configuration of classpath (of course, I can be wrong, because I have no idea how to fix it).
    I'm writing a project in J2EE, using Spring Framework, JSP files, and class files. On the beginning I was using vim and ant to write code, compile and deploy compiled WAR file to tomcat. I had everything configured and running as it should, but as the project grow bigger I decided to switch to Eclipse, because of many features this IDE has to offer.
    In the code, I'm using Spring's Dependency Injection mechanism to configure some classes, so I need to have external XML files that will allow me to change the bechaviour of the application without recompiling the code. This XML files were earlier located in the 'classes' directory, and it was the root of all compiled .class files. I could load this XML files from the code by creating the ClassPathResource("file.xml"). It should load the 'file.xml' from the class-path, but instead it throws at me the FileNotFoundException exception. I've tried to copy this file to 'build' directory that is the root dir for .class files that Eclipse is using and it worked, but after a while this file dissapeared, because i presume Eclipse is cleaning this directory when it wants to, so it's not a good place to put configuration files in.
    So, the question is, is it possible to configure project-specific classpath to, for example, WEB-INF directory? Then I could just put the XML files into this directory and I should be able to load them using any classpath-aware loader class. I don't want to search for the 'correct' folder by using trial-and-error "technique", because I want the solution to work with any servlet container, not only Tomcat. I've tried to change classpath in runtime, but Tomcat said I have to modify it's configuration files, and this is also not acceptable.
    I am sorry if I'm missing something obvious, but ATM my irritation is partly covering my eyes. Thanks for any help.

    Ok, never mind. Like I said, it was a problem with classpath. Changing the classpath from Run As...->(tomcat server)->classpath and adding the WEB-INF directory fixed the problem.

  • Invoking web service from EJB3 throw java.lang.IllegalArgumentException

    I used JAX-WS to develop a web service and deployed it on webloigc 10.3.5. The web service was invoked from web application and it worked fine. However, when I tried to invoke the web service from a stateless session bean, java.lang.IllegalArgumentException was thrown out and complained that "*interface gov.fema.web.nimcast.service.client.UpdateEmailPortType is not visible from class loader*". I tried following three ways to solve the problem
    1. put the web service client artifacts under APP-INF/classes of the EAR
    2. bundle the web service client artifacts into a jar file and put it under APP-INF/lib of the EAR
    3. put the web service client artifacts into the same jar file of the EJB
    However, none of the above approaches worked out, every time same exception thrown out.
    I used following commands in my ant script to generate the web service client artifacts
    <path id="deploypathref">
    <fileset dir="${wl.server}">
    <include name="server/lib/weblogic.jar"/>
    <include name="server/lib/weblogic_sp.jar"/>
    <include name="server/lib/xqrl.jar"/>
    <include name="server/lib/webservices.jar"/>
    <include name="../modules/features/weblogic.server.modules_10.3.3.0.jar"/>
    </fileset>
    </path>
    <taskdef name="clientgen"
    classname="weblogic.wsee.tools.anttasks.ClientGenTask" >
         <classpath refid="deploypathref"/>

    No you haven't, because
    Caused by: java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: org.example.www.Sample_PortType a relevant class can still not be found and Java really is not going to lie to you; this class is not on your application's classpath so it is either missing or put in the wrong place. Note that missing classes can be caused by you forgetting to properly redeploying your application - its usually something silly like that. Figure out what you did wrong and correct your mistake.
    The fact that you have to mention that you "setup the classpath" is questionable; in web applications you don't touch the classpath at all. So what exactly did you do?

    No you haven't, because
    Caused by: java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: org.example.www.Sample_PortType a relevant class can still not be found and Java really is not going to lie to you; this class is not on your application's classpath so it is either missing or put in the wrong place. Note that missing classes can be caused by you forgetting to properly redeploying your application - its usually something silly like that. Figure out what you did wrong and correct your mistake.
    The fact that you have to mention that you "setup the classpath" is questionable; in web applications you don't touch the classpath at all. So what exactly did you do?

  • Addon not starting - help needed in using ExtensionPackage tool

    Hi,
    I have deployed my addon using Lightweight Deployment in 9.1 PL00.
    When starting my addon, I get the error: SapProject1 has stopped working.
    What may be the issue?
    I packaged my addon using ExtensionPackage tool. In the SBO compatibility tab, we need to give the  version like 910.000.00. How should I check I my exact version number? In SAP application->Help->About SAP Business One, it shows version as 9.10.105, but in ExtensionPackage tool, I am supposed to write as nnn.nnn.nn. So how should I mention there?
    Secondly, in the Register 32-Bit Microsoft COM DLLs tab, should I select the DLLs: Interop.SAPbobsCOM.dll and Interop.SAPbouiCOM.dll ?
    Please guide me. I am trying to do it for first time.
    Thanks.

    I have never ran the DocCheck from the command prompt, so I really don't know how to do it, but I do run it succesfully using ant (build tool from apache - jakarta, if you use tomcat you already have it installed).
    So.. if you do use ant.. this will help:
    <target name="doccheck" depends="prepare">
         <javadoc
              packagenames="${packages}"
                    destdir="${doccheck.home}"
              doclet="com.sun.tools.doclets.doccheck.DocCheck"

         </javadoc>
    </target>If you don't use it.. I guess I was of no help, sorry.

  • Help Needed in using the FM-URGENT

    Hi ALL,
    Can anybody throw some light on how the following FM's are used , a sample program if any .
    RKE_CREATE_CO_ITEM_PLANNING
    RKE_POST_CO_ITEM_PLANNING.
    Actually I could not come to any conclusion on using one of them for posting my Planning data across my Control area to a specific Cost center.
    If there is any other better way to achive this other than posting directly to transactions through BDC, Please let me know.
    Boss its very Urgent. Please help me.

    Question 1:
    ==========
    - I started with JDK1.2.2 but lately installed JBUILDER development tools that has JDK1.3 I assume I could delete the 1.2.2 files
    - I re-adjusted the PATH env variable to contain c:\jbuilder\jdk1.3\bin instead of the previous c:\jdk1.2.2\bin. It did made my life easier when I compile my codes using javac (since I have deleted the old 1.2.2 folder)
    This is not a classpath problem/question. I am not having any problem to find my user class when I try to run javac or java.
    I assume javac (invoke it under the command prompt in DOS) will find its needed Java platform classes from the new directory jdk1.3 and not from the previous jdk1.2.2 folder. Question is:how does it know? I was told I could safely delete all files under c:\jdk1.2.2 after installing Jbuilder and I did.
    Question 2:
    ==========
    This is similar situation when running an application. I have installed the Java plug-in because I think I need them if I need to test an Applet running under a web browser. For some reasons I installed different versions of Java run time environments onto my same machine. In my machine folder c:\program files\javasoft\ I've got three(3) different subfolders 1.2, 1.3.1, and 1.3.1_02 now.
    When I run the JVM command java or the Appletviewer command, how do I know whether the system will find it Java platform classes from the new c:\program files\javasoft\jre\1.3.1.02\lib\rt.jar or from the former c:\program files\javasoft\jre\1.3.1\lib\rt.jar folder?
    Question 3:
    ==========
    How about the rt.jar classes in the development kit. For example, the one residing under c:\jbuilder\jdk1.3\jre\lib\ folder? Which one is my machine choosing, this one or the one under javasoft\jre\1.3.1_02. And how could I find out?
    Hope these questions make sense.

    I assume javac (invoke it under the command prompt in DOS) will find its needed Java platform classes from the new directory jdk1.3 and not from the previous jdk1.2.2 folder. Question is:how does it know?
    The PATH (not CLASSPATH) variable is used by Windows/DOS to locate executable programs. The current (working) directory is automatically included in this list. When you type "javac foo.java", Windows/DOS starts looking for an executable named "javac" - the extension could be exe, com, or bat - first in the current directory, then in each of the directories listed in the PATH, from left to right. The first match is executed; if no match is found, the error message "Bad command or file name" is produced. For the rest of the answer, see Question 3
    Question 2:
    I assume javac (invoke it under the command prompt in DOS) will find its needed Java platform classes from the new directory jdk1.3 and not from the previous jdk1.2.2 folder. Question is:how does it know?
    This is a messy one. First, the current Java Plugin Control Panel has a tab that allows you to specify the version of the plugin. This has evolved from version to version, and the greatest change was made between 1.2 and 1.3. Because of the evolving changes, I'm not sure what you see. (I've forgotten, I'm using 1.4.1_02) Anyway, you can specify a version to be used. If it's left at "Default", then normally the last installed version is used (but problems that Sun has had can change this - see the Buglist). If applets are involved, then it gets really messy - see the Plugin Developer's Guide http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.4.1/docs/guide/plugin/developer_guide/contents.html for the details.
    Question 3:
    How about the rt.jar classes in the development kit. For example, the one residing under c:\jbuilder\jdk1.3\jre\lib\ folder? Which one is my machine choosing, this one or the one under javasoft\jre\1.3.1_02. And how could I find out?
    Depends on what executable is invoked - e.g., the rt.jar that was installed with the version of the executable will be used (in a perfect world). In reality, Sun has had a number of problems getting this matter sorted out (the evolution, ya know), so there could be a number of posssibilities. And you're right, there are a couple of Registry key/values that are involved. The easiest way to find out is to experiment - just rename one of the copies and try it out.
    You can delete all of the older versions - unless you need to maintain multiple versions for compatibility purposes. Sun (and me!) recommends this - in fact, you'll get the cleanest update if you delete the old version first, then install the new version. This is about to change though - Sun is working on a real update-in-place - and it may make it into 1.4.2.
