Flash default classPath / sourcePath

I'm developing a utility application that gives all kinds of tools for flash designers. Some of the features requires me to install AS2 and AS3 classes and some include files.
So the install processes needs to place actionscript files where flash IDE can find them.
Includes and AS2 classes are easily placed under the user folder and AS3 classes are a bit harder.. In CS3 the default sourcePath is under the Flash IDE install directory, however CS4 doesn't seem to have any default source path directory when installed.
The more 'elegant' solution is to save the classes to the utility application directory and edit the classPath / sourchPath, but I just can't find a way to do that
So I have 2 questions:
1. Is there a way to edit the classPath / sourchPath?
2. Is there a default directory that CS4 is looking at when compiling an AS3 project?
Thanks in advance,
Ido

File, Preferences, Actionscript, Actionscript 2.0/3.0
You can set as many class paths as you would like.

  • Default CLASSPATH?

    I have been working with the J2EE tutorial and have had to set my classpath to point to the j2ee.jar file. No problems.
    However, when I went back to run some old java programs, I got the "NoClassDef" error. On a hunch, I unset the CLASSPATH, and it was able to execute the java programs in the current working directory.
    This leads me to believe there is a default classpath that will at the minimum search the CWD.
    I plan to add "." to my classpath, but I was wondering if anyone can explain the rules of classpath (ie what should be in it and what it defaults to.) There may be other things I need to add to the CLASSPATH.

    Maybe this will help.
    http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.4/docs/tooldocs/findingclasses.html
    If your system does not specify a system Classpath, java defaults to . (CWD). Also, you can use the -classpath option of javac and java commands.

  • Javac -classpath / -sourcepath does not work ?

    when i call javac in the current directory (where the java source files within subdirectories for package names) the compilation works. but when i go one directory up and want to use the -classpath or the -sourcepath options, i just get errors:
    D:\TEMP\Java>javac -classpath ./examples test/HelloWorld.java
    error: cannot read: test/HelloWorld.java
    1 error
    D:\TEMP\Java>javac -sourcepath ./examples test/HelloWorld.java
    error: cannot read: test/HelloWorld.java
    1 errorRunning javac in the directory D:\TEMP\Java\examples works ...

    nope, the doc for javac clearly says:
    "If the -sourcepath option is not specified, the user
    class path is searched for source files as well as
    class files. "
    (see
    http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.4.2/docs/tooldocs/windows/ja
    ac.html#options)Yes but this is in reference to dependent classes, as the page you referenced explains.
    The basic format of javac isjavac source_fileIf the source file needs other user classes, then the classpath is searched for either .class files or .java files.

  • CS4 Default Classpath

    Where do I find the default search path for .as class files
    in Adobe Flash Creative Suite 4? I have a windows install, I think
    it's beta, and I'm trying to make a class available by default
    without having to drop it into each project's working directory. So
    far the tutorials for CS3 and before have left me stumbling over
    menu options and terminology that has changed between versions.
    When I go under Edit -> Preferences -> ActionScript
    -> ActionScript 3.0 Settings... , the obvious field, "Source
    Path," is empty. The Flash IDE does not appear to set any
    environment variables on install, so how do I find out where to put
    this .as file so the class inside is available by default?

    File, Preferences, Actionscript, Actionscript 2.0/3.0
    You can set as many class paths as you would like.

  • Flash: Default PNG editor to Photoshop?

    Hello,
    I am working on a very large Flash (CS3) training project that has literally hundreds of photos sequenced together. When an image needs to be changed, from within Flash, I cannot click on the PNG and press the EDIT button (on the panel, located next to the SWAP button) and have the file open in Photoshop. I have changed the file program association so that a PNG does indeed open in Photoshop when I double-click the file in Windows Explorer. I am on PC using XP. The icon would not change but it would still open in Photoshop from within Flash. Exasperated, I uninstalled Fireworks, hoping it would default to Photoshop, but no good. Now, instead of offering to open files in Photoshop, the choice for "Edit with Fireworks" has been grayed out and I cannot edit the file automatically at all, in any program.
    I do not have a way to Edit Editors in the Flash Preferences.
    Is there a way to change this? Can I set up Flash to automatically open PNGs in Photoshop? Without this feature, I have to find every PNG file manually and either locate the file in Explorer or right click, Edit With... and select the Photoshop executable.
    Thank you.
    C5

    in the properties panel I don't get the option to edit a png but if I import a psd I do get the option to edit that.

  • Dreamweaver entries for Flash default image

    This is a companion question to my earlier one about not
    prompting viewers of my home page if they do not have the Flash
    player installed.
    What can I change in my Dreamweaver entries for a Flash movie
    so that, if they dont have the Flash player installed, a default
    image will be displayed at the same location? For example, I have a
    Flash movie that transitions different text objects on and off the
    stage, but, if they dont have Flash installed, I would like to put
    an image of one of the blocks of text in the place of the movie.
    And, of course, no prompting for plugins to accompany this.
    Many thanks for solutions

    In theory just with plain HTML, the 'object' element and its
    capability
    of nesting content:
    <object
    type="application/x-shockwave-flash"
    data="example.swf"
    width="200" height="150">
    Alternative no-Flash content
    </object>
    Some browsers might require an additional 'param' element:
    <object ...>
    <param name="movie" value="example.swf">
    </object>
    But that's it. In theory ...
    In practice be prepared for some bad surprises, especially in
    broken
    browsers like IE.

  • Wf_dispatcher.vbs and flash default skin  - Robo 7.00.145

    Hi,
    I have created a flash help system and moved the files to our server for publication on the intranet. All the files copied except wf_dispatcher.vbs. I got an error message saying it wasn't supported. Does this affect the flash skin? The project opens fine, but it looks like a web help project and not a flash help project. It's supposed to be using the flash help default skin. Is this missing file responsible? And if so, how can I fix it?
    Thanks!

    Welcome to our community
    I am aware that often folks have to ask their IT peeps to configure the web server with the right MIME types to allow the skin to show.
    Cheers... Rick

  • How to creating a web banner in Flash CS3?

    Hi all,
    I'm very new to Flash CS3. Can anyone give me a step-by-step

    I understand your pain...I just posted a similar request
    earlier today for help but finally figured it out on my own. I've
    done lots of searching online and used Adobe's Flash Classroom in a
    Book and also took an online ed2go class and I still don't have a
    good handle on Flash. Nothing seems to give clear step by step
    directions on animating images for web banners. You just have to do
    a lot of trial and error. These websites may help if you don't have
    time for the classes:

  • Plz help me out with classpaths

    Im doing a schoolprojet in Java, making an mp3-player.
    I want to use mp3spi from http://www.javazoom.net/mp3spi/mp3spi.html to play mp3 files, and in the readme file it says:
    - How to install MP3SPI ?
    Before running MP3SPI you must set PATH and CLASSPATH for JAVA
    and you must add jl1.0.jar, tritonus_share.jar and mp3spi1.9.4.jar to the CLASSPATH.
    But i have never used classpaths before, and am not quite sure what they are reffering to. isn't it enough just to leave these jars in the same folder as the project?
    thanks in advance for any help!

    Yeah, i did, and i read http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.5.0/docs/tooldocs/windows/classpath.html, but i still cant get it to work, it says that the default classpath is in the project directory, i have the jars there and it still wont work.
    Ive also written "java -classpath /home/finpingvin/workspace/soundtest/mp3spi1.9.4.jar" to set the classpath, but nothing happens, i just get an index of how to use the java-command

  • Flash upload form does not recognize foreign characters

    i have a flash form which uploads multimedia files and submit

    chinese or spanish, the worlds are garbled on the other side. it

    Thanks for the link. It didn't solve the issue on my mother in law's desktop, but it did contain a link to another solution for desktops (and for laptops not helped by the link you provided).
    The link reads: "If you don't have a PC laptop or the steps above did not help, see this document for more information."
    Essentially, putting the iPod into disc mode caused it to be recognized by XP and all was well.
    Anyway, your help is much appreciated as it's particularly difficult for me to work in the Windows enviroment since I so rarely do it.

  • Remote Start classpath

              Hi,
              I have installed an admin server, a managed server and a node manager on a single
              machine. (btw, I'm using WLS7 sp2)
              With the default config, the managed server starts and stops successfully from
              the console. However, I need to specify a classpath for this server to locate
              my log4j configuration file. I've used the "Class Path" field of the "Remote Start"
              tab of my managed server. As soon as a classpath is specified, the managed server
              doesn't start anymore, and I get the following log :
              29 juil. 03 12:22:01 CEST> <Info> <NodeManager@mymachine:5555> <Starting Server
              mydomain::managedserver ...>
              java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: weblogic/Server
              Exception in thread "main"
              <29 juil. 03 12:22:02 CEST> <Info> <NodeManager@mymachine:5555> <Server mydomain::managedserver
              started, process id = 72 040>
              I've tried different formats for my classpath (c:\mydir, c:/mydir ...), but I
              always get the same error.
              Any clue?

              The classpath from the console actually overrides the default classpath (I thought
              it was just appended).
              Adding weblogic.jar solved the problem.

  • Images will not appear on Stage area of Adobe Flash Professional

    I have Adobe Flash Professional CS5.
    Yesterday I successfully created an animation.
    Later the same day I tried to create another and the images will not appear on the stage.
    I loaded in PNG files - which worked the first time - now they will not show up.
    I can see their binding boxes on the stage, and move those but the images just do not show up.
    When I hit ctrl + enter to preview, I can see the images in the preview movie - just not on the stage working area!
    I tried restarting, shutting down, updating my PC, uninstalling programs, loading different file types (jpg), and resaving and reloading the PNG files. I even tried different types of Flash defaults. NOTHING WORKS.
    I hope someone can tell me what is wrong this makes no sense!

    Before you drag the image from the library to your stage, make sure you insert a blank keyframe (F6) on the layer you are working with, then drag to stage. This worked for me.
