Cleaning up Old systems or marking obsolete after upgrade

Hello there,
We have 80+ systems in our landscape.  We have SAP R3 4.7 Enterprise to ECC 6.0 installations.  We have BW systems.  We have PI systems....
We just went through an upgrade of our oldest system that was 4.6C.  We had manually placed these systems in the SLD.  I have deleted the old 4.6C systems from the SLD but how to clean these systems out of Solution Manager?  The SLD fed this system information to our Solution Manager so I can not update the system in SMSY because it is marked as the Source being SLD.
This system was in a Logical component and in Projects.
I see in the gateway logs that Solution Manager is still trying to talk to this system.  How can I stop all the obsolete systems that we want to keep for documentation purposes in the projects and in the old logical components but tell Solution Manager not to monitor or try to get information from this system.
We have other instance where we bring up and sandbox and now the sandbox is gone.... so we are accumulating quite a mess in solution manager with out knowing a way to retire a system.
Thanks for your assistance.
Deidre Logan

Thanks for the input.  So here are some more details.
We had a landscape that is 4.6c
DEV -->  UNT -->  QAS --->  PRD
So these systems exist in Solution manager and they created an upgrade project in solution manager.
Now We basis create a new development system that is upgraded...so during the upgrade we have a duplicate landscape.
Now the new landscape is
DV1  -->  UN1 --->  QA1
then on go live weekend we upgrade production in place....
so the old landscape of DEV,  UNT, QAS is retired...PRD is still valid... the old logical component and new logical component are in Solution manager as part of the upgrade project.
We want to keep the old logical component and old projects for reference for when we have to do another upgrade or whatever.
But I do not want my Solution manager trying to go to DEV, UNT, QAS...they have been taken down and will NEVER return in there old status.
I was just wondering how to limit RFC errors in the gateway....we have done 3 upgrade this year and now I have this situation times 3...so I have a Solution manager gateway busy doing unnecessary work...
I wanted to make sure I was not missing something in my configuration to tell Solution Manager that these were valid systems but now they are retired.
The old logical systems and is in many projects and it is too messy to clean up manually and the project team wants to keep the projects...
Let me know if there is a way to retire systems without a massive delete of the where used list...

  • System becoming un-responsive after upgrade to Maverick

After upgrading to Maverick I am experiencing massive performace problems to the point of the system not being usable.
    System: 2010 iMac
Upgraded Yesterday morning, Upgrade process went smooth, no issues at first. First symptoms of problems were hick-ups in video playback, jerks in window switching. From then on over several hours the system became slower and slower to the point of being unusable. Performed system reboot, which took 45min, followed by fast degradation and unusability.
Attempted revovery actions with help from Apple support (thanks, even though the problem remains so far):
Booted system via the network into recovery mode, performed disk check: SMART status OK,  verified and repaired disk no issues deteced, verified partition, no issues detected, data volume looks correct.
    Attempted normal boot-up, unsucceful
Performed powerdown, followed by opt+cntr+R+P boot, no success
Performed safe boot (shift), system came back up after 1.5 hours, extremely unresponsive, but at least it is up. I am scared to try to shut it down.
Diagnosis attempts: Other than time-outs, no unusual errors in console, file hirachy and files look Ok from terminal, access very slow. Can't see any obviously problematic processes in Activity Monitor, RAM usage about 2.5GBytes out of 12GBytes total, largest is kernel with 700MB, CPU not loaded, no high disk or network io. Evything looks to me like a pefectly normal system that runs at 1/100th or so speed.
Maverick managed to perform a time machine back-up over night and all earlier back-up are gone. So no chance to restore back to Mountain Lion that way.
Anybody with similar problems, any ideas for next steps?
    Thanks

  • System exception code 0xc0000005 after upgrading to LabVIEW 8.2

After upgrading to LabVIEW 8.2 from LabVIEW 8.0 I am continously getting a system reboot on my PXI (8187) when attempting to run my real time loops which worked fine with LabVIEW 8.0.  The loops seem to start, and within less than a 30 seconds the system reboots.  Upon reboot a message is displayed reboot due to system error.  After running and getting this error again the system reboots into safe mode.  Looking at the nirtlog file on the PXI, there is system crash log which list the exception code as 0xC0000005 and a listing of loaded dlls.
Does anyone have any idea what may be leading to this?
    Thanks,
    Kevin

The following is a simple example that produces the exception and reboots the PXI.  This VI was originally created on a machine with LabVIEW version 8.0 and run on a PXI-8187 w/ RealTime version 8 and it ran without issue.  I then took the VI to a machine running LabVIEW 8.2, I opened the VI, which compiled it to version 8.2, and ran it on another PXI-8187 w/ RealTime version 8.2 and I got a system exception and the PXI rebooted.  If I run the two loops at the same priority level, it seems to run without issue.  Also if I run with the loops at different priority levels and place a check in the Discard Missed Periods and in the Maintain Original Phase of the lower priority loop, it seems to run fine as well.  However if I uncheck either the Discard Missed Periods or the Maintain Original Phase (as is set in the attached VI) the exception will occur.  Any thoughts on what is going on, am I doing something wrong?
    Thanks,
    Kevin

    Hi,
If you are sure that you have checked everything like Copy control for item VTLF, and VTLA for update document flow, then run report SDVBUK00 for manual update.
Please post your feedback for further help.
    Thanks,
    Raja

  • All mail messages marked unread after upgrade from 10.4 to 10.5 server

After upgrading a Tiger server to Leopard, all messages in user mailboxes are marked as unread. This is just a test upgrade right now. But once we upgrade the live server, this will cause confusion to our users. Suggestions?

I'm pretty sure this is always going to happen due to the cyrus database needing a rebuild after being imported.

  • Problems cleaning up 12.1.0.1 agents after upgrading to 12.1.0.3

I have just completed upgrading OEM from 12.1.0.1 to 12.1.0.3. Agents have also been upgraded to 12.1.0.3.0 and I am now attempting to clean up 12.1.0.1.0 agents. In the console I choose Setup -> Manage Cloud Control -> Clean up Agents and choose the Post Agent Upgrade Tasks, select agents to clean up and choose submit and a job is submitted. I wait until the job completes successfully, choose another agent to clean up, submit the job and the submission fails with the error -
    ORA-20401: A job with the specified name already exists ORA-06512: at "SYSMAN.EM_JOB_OPS", line 290 ORA-06512: at "SYSMAN.GC_JOB", line 29 ORA-06512: at line 1
I look at job activity and the job shows as having completed successfully. If I wait a period of time (overnight in one case) or from the job console delete the most recent job I am then able to successfully submit another cleanup job.
Has anyone else experienced this or is this a bug or am I doing something wrong?
    Thanks
    Bill Wagman

    Anandu,
Apparently this is a known issue. Oracle's response -
There are some limitations related to user input for job name. These limitations are being tracked by bugs and are deferred to next release.
16689459---> EMCLI UPGRADE_AGENTS FAILS BADLY IF JOBNAME WAS REUSED
16689511---> EMCLI UNEXPECTED INPUT PARSING WHEN JOBNAME HAS SPECIAL CHARACTERS
    Suggestion:
Try submitting a new job with a new job name. Job names must be unique.
    Thank you.

  • Help:Can't connect to an old PM9500 from my PB after upgrading it to 10.4.5

Need help: I can't connect anymore to an old Powermac 9500 from my PB after I upgraded the PB to system 10.4.5. I get the message:this file server uses an incompatible version of the AFP protocol.
Before the upgrade the PB ran on 10.2.8 and it was no problem connecting to the PM9500 (OS 7.5.5) via Appletalk/Ethernet. As I still use the PM9500 to run an Optronics drum scanner, it remains vital to be able to transfer files to my PB.

    Hi,
Apple made some changes to the file sharing in Tiger that will cause this problem. It looks like you'll need to upgrade the 9500 to Mac OS 9 or later. More information is available in the Knowledge Base.

  • [SOLVED] System fails to boot after upgrade.

Not exactly sure what happened as the upgrade appeared to go smoothly. Now trying to start just causes an endless cycle of rebooting. I have been unable to even boot into single user mode. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated here.
Using the livecd I can mount all the filesystems, and I have run fsck on all of them so I know they are clean. Here are my grub entries:

I have tried using a kernel line of just:
    kernel /boot/vmlinuz26 root=/dev/sda2 ro
and get the same results, as soon as grub starts to load the kernel the system reboots and I can't see what's on screen long enough to know what's happening.

That does appear to be my issue, I use jfs with no separate /boot
    Edit:
    The following steps fixed it:
Mount your / (and /boot partition into this mount) from your Ach system, ex:
    sda2 (/) -> /mnt/arch
    sda1 (/boot)(if you have a own /boot) -> /mnt/arch/boot
    Do a chroot /mnt
    and therein a:
    pacman -U /var/cache/pacman/pkg/kernel26-2.6.30.1-1-x86_64.pkg.tar.gz (or i686)
further details at the link above.

  • System control panel malfunctioning after upgrade to windows 7 professional

I have an issue I just bought with my recently purchased Toshiba satellite P755-S5390. I had upgraded to windows 7 professional. Now the the system control panel is malfunctioning and I lost one USB bay. This included the switch to turn on and off wifi. After consulting with my some co-workers I have concluded that it is a hardware issue, but I find myself in a bit of a pickle. I didn't’t create a recovery disk for the laptop's original operating system and one was not provided. Is there any way I can get the system control panel function back to its factory settings so I can turn my wifi switch back on. With out having to purchase a restore disk from Toshiba.

The cheaper and easier thing to do is to consider purchasing the Recovery disks from Toshiba because alternatives can be time consuming and expensive in media.
Most of the newer Toshiba laptops do not include Recovery disks. So Toshiba gives you two options to run the Recovery. One is to create the Recovery disks using the Toshiba Recovery Disk Creator program. You'll find the program under Toshiba or Toshiba Utilities in the Program lists. The other way to run the Recovery is to turn on the computer while holding down the '0' (zero) key. This will activate a program in a hidden partition on the hard drive to send the computer back to it's out-of-the-box configuration. You can try this with your current operating system. It will give you a couple different opportunities to back out of running the Recovery before the process begins. The advantage of going back to the out-of-the-box configuration is that the Toshiba Recovery Disk Creator program will be created again and you'll be able to create the Recovery disks as many times as you'd like. The bad news is that running the Recovery software will wipe out EVERYTHING on the computer, including programs, files, pictures and music.
What you can do is back up all of your programs and files and run the Recovery using the hidden hard drive partition. Create the Recovery disks and then restore all of your programs and files again. But this is a lot of work and like I said,it might be cheaper and easier just to buy the disks.

  • New System Error on Vista after upgrading to LR 1.4.1

I just installed the upgrade to 1.4.1 last night. Today when I started my computer I received the error message: "Unsupported 16-bit application: The program or feature "\??\C:\Windows\Twunk_16.exe" cannot start or run due to incompatibity [sic] with 64-bit versions of Windows. Please contact the software vendor to ask if a 64-bit Windows compatible version is available.
Prior to the upgrade my system booted fine, and it also booted fine after I rolled back to version 1.3.1. Is there anything I can do so I don't have to acknowledge this message every time I start my computer?
    Thanks!
    Diana

This morning I started Lightroom and got a message box titled "Microsoft Visual C++Runtime Library" In the box was "Runtime Error! This application has requested the Runtime to terminate it in an unusual way. Please contact the application's support team for more information"
I have uninstalled, reinstalled, done a system restore, all but short of reinstalling Windows.
    Has anyone else seen this?
    Tim
PS I meant this to be a new topic. I apologize for being in the wrong place.

  • How can I restore my old iTunes Time Machine backup after upgrading to Mavericks?

I previously had Snow Leopard, and am wondering how I can simply restore ONLY my iTunes library from my Time Machine backup, last made only a few days ago when I had Snow Leopard. However, I seem to be unable to access anything backed up before I installed Mavericks. Any help would be great, because I'd hate to have to struggle to locate 160GB of music manually.
    Many thanks!

Your choice really. Either way will work. Retaining the older backups gives you a way to restore older files. When I upgrade from 10.8 to 10.9, the backups continued without errors. Depending on what you upgraded from, in 10.8/9 you have the option to backup to 2 separate drives thus giving you some protection in case one drive fails. You can either copy the old backup to a new drive (Disk Utility/Restore seems to work best) or start a new one.

  • Which old files do I keep after upgrading?

I upgraded from Photoshop CS5 to CS6, and from Lightroom 3 to 5. Do I have to keep any of the files from the previous version?

And if you uninstall, I believe that plugin folders etc will not be removed, but as Surt says, always best to leave the old version installed at least for a while.  It might be that certain plugins, or twain drivers etc will not work on later versions, or will be problematic.
