Clear my doubts Developer super.init(config);
When do we need to override super.init(config); method also what is the difference b/w in overriding doget and dopost methods
Thanks in advance.
override init when you need to do something on initialisation, like say, initialising a counter (it's kind of like a static initialiser).
doGet responds to HTTP get requests, doPost responds to HTTP post requests.
Read RFC2616 for more info.

Hi, everyone..
I wonder why we call super.init(config) in init method of servlet... If i dont call it ; when i try to get servletcontext in service method it throws java.lang.NullPointerException...when we call super.init() , what is happening behind the scene? If anybody has a technical explanation for my question , i will be very pleased...
THX FOR YOUR FUTURE REPLIES IN ADVANCE....I am sorry about the uppercases and i dont want to seem smart on java forums... Anyway, m8 this is the thing that i know... i meant; for instance when we override doGet or doPost method ; we dont need to override init method; but the server loads the servlet and we can get the context of the servlet in these methods easily by calling getServletContext() method; however when we want to call service method implicitly by jndi, servlet needs to be loaded and init method must call its parent...(i also write down in web.xml <load-on-startup>.... for that servlet).
thx for your replies in advance.... -
Super.init(config)
Hi all
Can anyone please tell me why we write this line in init()?
super.init(config)?
What does config contain???
I am really full of queries!!! :-(Read the javadocs for the method and classes involved. Or get a servlet book.
Config is the servlet configuration from the container. The init method is just setting them for the javax.servlet.Servlet class.

Could u pls clear my doubts?
Hai abapers
I m new to ABAP objects....pls clear my doubts.
1.what is an event? how is it useful in application development?
2.Is it mandatory to give the same name for both object reference variable and object?
Advance thanks
regards,
SelvaHi Selvakumar,
1.what is an event? how is it useful in application development?
An u201Ceventu201D is the occurrence of a special condition during the execution of an ABAP program. This occurrence must be of sufficient importance for the ABAP program to take a special action.
Refer the below link for events.

2.Is it mandatory to give the same name for both object reference variable and object?
Yes. The reference variable oref must be declared as an object reference variable. Instance components of an object created using CREATE OBJECT can only be accessed using object reference variables.

Plz clear the doubt regarding Currrent indicator value in cluster RT
Hi Gurus,
Current Indicator in RT table have the values as A and P. So as payroll is run in the month Feb and retro run for Jan also. There are two result in RT with the Current Indicator A(Feb) and P(Jan retro) OR both have the same indicator as A and P for the previous Payroll RUN...
Please clear this ..
Regards
LAKHANHI Srinivasarao,
Thanks for the reply.
I am still a little bit confused ..AS there in T-code PC_PAYRESULT (for cluster data display) :
Payroll is run for Feb.2008
SEQNR FPPER FPBEG FPEND INPER IPEND SRTZA
61 200710 20080101 20080131 200710 20080131 P
62 200710 20080101 20080131 200711 20080229 A
63 200711 20080201 20080229 200711 20080229 A
The Last Two row show the payroll results for the Feb.2008 wih the A indicator.
Is this corrrect
OR the below rows are correct(AS i have understand from your reply)
62 200710 20080101 20080131 200711 20080229 P
63 200711 20080201 20080229 200711 20080229 A
Please clear my doubt

Clear the Doubt : ABAP Activity or Basis Activity
Hi All,
I have one requirement, if i excute a report am getting report output, from here if i clickes its enters the VD02 transaction, from there user can enter customer change option. Using vd02 user can change the customer details.
But in customer details i need only display format, for that basis person currently having a ZROLE.
I want to know how to include selected fields under this role?* This is a Basis activity or ABAP Activity.*
Basis team told that its a abap activity, create a z field group and give to us, we will add this zfield group into that particullar ZROLE.
Is its correct?
Pls anyone having idea pls clear this doubt.Hi,
I believe your BASIS Team is right. They can only restrict upto the Txn Code Level from the BASIS Security feature.
Post this thread in BASIS Forum also so as to get the feel from BASIS Experts. -
Hi Experts.
I'm a beginner in SUP.
I 'm working with Sybase SUP and this SUP and sup transfers and receives data from a C # application to SAP.(whe don't use for cell phones)
1-Am i in correct comunitty ? I work with SUP sy-base.( there are 3 or 4 comunitties abou mobile)
2-I'm reading the site inforcerter of sy-base , there are other things I should study outside the SUP?
3-What the diference betwen SAP Mobile Platform Developer Center comunitty and SAP Mobile comunitty .?
In my compny we use the sup that way:
Aplication C# to sales for clientes
|
|
SUP to comunicate betwen C# and SAP
|
|
SAP with yours RFCsThis is the right community for SUP and its inheritor SMP, however for historical reasons, most of the SUP Discussions will be in the http://scn.sap.com/community/mobile (SAP for Mobile) community. I would recommend doing searches there on SUP and any involving SMP in both places.
As you said, there are quite a few Mobile related communities (more than 3-4 unfortunately), so figuring out which one is most appropriate can be quite difficult.
SAP for Mobile is kind of a catchall community mainly focused on application development, but also includes Afaria (MDM, Mobile Device Management), SUP (Sybase Unified Platform), now superceded by SMP (SAP Mobile Platform) and probably quite a few others. Agentry, Fiori, HWC, Afaria, SUP, some SMP, MBO, PhoneGap, Codova, Kapsel, SAPUI5 (though these should mostly be over in http://scn.sap.com/community/developer-center/front-end, UI Development Toolkit for HTML5 Developer Center), and many other technologies can all be found in this community.
Since Platforms (SMP and HANA based) are blending issues with application installation/configuration, there are probably another half dozen communities which sometimes come into the picture. Some should probably be decremented as having insufficient traffic. Others should probably be combined with later, more active/robust communities.
Hope this helps

The "installation guide" says that if you are doing so, you need to create a file named libx11.so.4 and update your LD_LIBRARY_PATH (see http://docs.iplanet.com/docs/manuals/messaging/ims52/ig/unix/overview.htm)but:
1- the library name is libX11.so.4 and
2- for jre a common file is not enough, you need to install SUNWxwplt at least. This will install the library on /usr/openwin/lib.
You can check the results running <server-root>/bin/base/jre/bin/jre

Developing an admin config page...
Hi, I would like to develop my own admin config page. Basically, in the end, this is what I want to empower an administrator to do:
<b>Administrator creates an iView on Portal Catalog by: New from Par --> create an iView using my par file --> And when admin double-clicks on newly created iView --> My own custom iView configuration page pops up --> admin makes some changes to iView (height, width..) --> admin clicks 'Save' --> all changes to that particular iView will be in effect for all users.</b>
I was wondering if someone could provide me with some guidance as to how to approach doing this or any samples to start this? I'm reading about modes (EDIT_MODE, TEST_MODE) both the 'Portal Runtime Technology' and docs inside the PDK but none of them really talk about any config mode. Does anyone have any other guides, articles, code, or anything that can help guide me?
Any help is greatly, greatly appreciated!
Thanks so much,
BaggettHi Baggett,
> From my understanding, the "CONFIG_MODE" is a mode
That's what I would have expected (before being sure that it's not really used).
> what has replaced it, or what mechanism does the SAP
> Portal have in which an administrator can change the
> preferences of an iView
I will have to develope a special property editor within the next months, so that's a question I'm also interested in.
Just have a look at the URL-iView Editor (this is some special property editor). See portal application com.sap.portal.httpconnectivity.urliviews and the portalapp.xml provided there. The runtime component has a profile property
<property name="com.sap.portal.reserved.iview.EditorURL"
value="com.sap.portal.httpconnectivity.urliviews.editor">
- and that's the component defined just before the runtime component. This again seems to need different properties set, like com.sap.portal.admin.editorframework.dataHandler and com.sap.portal.admin.editorframework.jsResource. Anyhow, again, this doesn not seem to be documented at all (nevertheless, it does not appear that hard to get behind these secrets...).
Hope it helps

Doubts developing web services on JDev 10.1.3.0.4
Hi,
I was trying to follow this guide
http://www.oracle.com/technology/oramag/webcolumns/2003/techarticles/balusamy.html
in order to develop this web service on Jdev 10.1.3.0.4.
But the menus are different from the version used on the tutorial. I´m having some difficulties with the selections that i have to make in the menus. Also, after trying several options, the files generated are different from the ones that appear on this tutorial.
Does anyone know how to reproduce this tutorial on this version of jdev ?
Thanks.Hi,
The guide you were refering was pointing to 10.1.2 wizards.
For the latest 10.1.3 tutorial, please follow the below tutorial link :
http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/jdev/101/tutorials/WS/WSandAScontrol.htm
Hope this helps,

Need Help on Clearing my doubts
Hi all,
I have a question on running Apache and Tomcat with the use of mod_jk connector. With all the guide I have gathered from the web. Below are my configuration:
Red Hat 8.0
Apache 2.0.46 Using Port 80
Tomcat 4.1.24 Using Port 8080
J2SDK 1.4.1
I have no problem running these two applications. However, I cannot seems to access the default 'example' folder that comes with tomcat on port 80. Accessing it on port 8080 has no problem for me.
Please note that all my configuration is done with the help of the following url:
http://www.johnturner.com/howto/rh72-howto.html
According to one of the mail which I have received, I saw him putting this in apache : httpd.conf:
============================================================================
JkWorkersFile /home/gmh2441/uPortal/Tomcat_4-0-4/conf/workers.properties
JkLogFile /home/gmh2441/uPortal/Tomcat_4-0-4/logs/mod_jk.log
JkLogLevel debug
JkOptions +ForwardDirectories
Alias /examples /home/gmh2441/uPortal/Tomcat_4-0-4/webapps/examples
<Directory "/home/gmh2441/uPortal/Tomcat_4-0-4/webapps/examples">
Options Indexes FollowSymLinks
</Directory>
<Location "/examples/WEB-INF/">
AllowOverride None
deny from all
</Location>
============================================================================
I tried putting the same thing into my httpd.conf, and now accessing the example folder on port 80 works!.
My question is :
1) Based on the above config, it is asking apache to 're-direct' this folder to the tomcat container and thus run on it. In that case, is apache pushing all the jobs to tomcat instead?. What if some of the files in this folder contains some html and is tomcat or apache processing it??
2) Secondly, if I were to have more folders which I need to publish on the web, does it mean that I have to add or of it on this config file in order for it to work?
3) I would appreciate if there are some kind soul could give me some URL on how to utilize apache tomcat to process both static and jsp content.
Thanks in advance,
Joemake sure in your tomcat/conf/server.xml file that the Connector for 8009 is not commented out.

Hi,
When a class implement an interface,the method of the class should thorugh the same exception or any of its subclass exception or any different exception,as that of the exception declared on the abstarct method of the interface.
Please any one solve my doubt as early as possible.
Thanks
VishHi,
When a class implement an interface,the method of
the class should thorugh the same exception or any of
its subclass exception or any different exception,as
that of the exception declared on the abstarct method
of the interface.
Is this supposed to be multiple choice?
The easiest way for you to answer this question is to try it out yourself in code. -
