Clearing values of input boxes

Can any one Help me with the problem i am having with clearing the values for several input text fields from the generated HTML page. so the user can press the back button and all the fields are clear in the previous page.
this is my line of thought so far
<code>
private void populateDates()
//UIComponent component = new HtmlInputText();
// NOTE: myBooking should not be null when this is called, and all dates should
// be valid
String defaultDatePattern = "EEE dd MMM yy";
DateFormat df = new SimpleDateFormat(defaultDatePattern);
if (!StrUtil.isEmpty(date1))
log.debug("the first date is" + date1);
BookingDate d1 = new BookingDate();
try
d1.setDate(df.parse(date1));
log.debug("date1 should have been put into the model size is " +
myBooking.getDates().size());
catch (ParseException ex)
log.error("date1 is invalid, how did it get past the validator? " +
ex.getMessage());
try
myBooking.getDates().add(d1);
log.debug("date1 now should have been put into the model its size is " +
myBooking.getDates().size());
catch (Exception ex)
log.debug("date1 is not adding to the date model" + ex.getMessage());
try
// UIInput textBox = (UIInput) component;
//textBox.setValid(true);
// log.debug("about to set border for date1" + component.getId());
// ((HtmlInputText) textBox).setStyle("border:1px #ccc solid;");
// log.debug("about to set value for date1");
// textBox.setValue("");
catch (Exception ex)
log.debug("Not able to clear date1" + ex);
</code>
Thanks to all that can help

  • Clear an input box with failed validation status

    My jdev version is 11.1.1.5.0
    I have an input box with certain validation.If validation fails it doesnt clear its contents on button click.
    My button click code is :
    propButton.setValue(null);
    where propButton is binding name to button.

    Hi Lovin,
    How are you actually validating? Is it by <f:Validator> Tag, or Validation in the Button click code?
    If its in button click code: Refreshing programmatically in the button code, will ensure that the value is cleared in the inputTextBox and then refreshed.
    Refreshing programmatically:
    First, create a binding to the InputText Box in a managed bean, using the Binding attribute.
    binding="#{managedBeanName.inputTextBox}"
    public void clickButton(ActionEvent ae){
    this.getInputTextBox().setValue(null);
    AdfFacesContext.getCurrentInstance().addPartialTarget(this.getInputTextBox());
    Thanks,
    Pandu

  • Clearing the input box

    When I make a program that asks the user to input two integers and then the program computes the sum and displays it, I noticed that every time I re-run the program the previous first integer that was entered is still sitting in the input box. I've made this same program in both Eclipse and JDeveloper and neither one of those do this. It's rather annoying to re-run the program and to be looking at the input box and it still has previous input stuck in it.
    Just wondering if there is any way to clear the input box automatically upon re-running the program.

    This is just a console application. When I say re-run, I mean after you are done looking at the output, you hit the run button again to run the program again and have fun entering in new integer values. That's what I like to do with most of my programs. Here is the code:
    import java.util.*;
    public class GettingInput {
        public static void main(String args[])
            // create Scanner to obtain input from command window
            Scanner input = new Scanner( System.in );
            int number1; // first number to add
            int number2; // second number to add
            int sum; // sum of number1 and number2
            System.out.println( "Enter first integer: " ); // prompt
            number1 = input.nextInt(); // read first number from user
            System.out.println( "Enter second integer: " ); // prompt
            number2 = input.nextInt(); // read second number from user
            sum = number1 + number2; // add numbers
            System.out.print( "The sum is " + sum);
    }Getting back to that JComponent thing, in order to make the setText( ) thing work, would I just include an import JComponent statement at the top of my code or what?

  • Can we hide the real value of input text box and show other value in ADF?

    Hi All,
    I have a table in which i have one the column as "Quantity" and text box as "quantity" :-
    <af:column sortProperty="quantity" filterable="true"
    sortable="true" headerText="Quantity" id="c3"
    width="60"
    rendered="#{row.bindings.booleanFlag.inputValue != 'E'}"
    filterFeatures="caseInsensitive">
    <div align="center">
    *<af:inputText value="#{row.bindings.quantity.inputValue}"*
    label="#{bindings.queryProductResponseType.hints.quantity.label}"
    required="#{bindings.queryProductResponseType.hints.quantity.mandatory}"
    columns="#{bindings.queryProductResponseType.hints.quantity.displayWidth}"
    maximumLength="#{bindings.queryProductResponseType.hints.quantity.precision}"
    shortDesc="#{bindings.queryProductResponseType.hints.quantity.tooltip}"
    id="it5" partialTriggers="it19"
    readOnly="#{row.activeYN == 'N'}">
    <f:validator binding="#{row.bindings.quantity.validator}"/>
    <af:validateRegExp pattern="^[1-9]+[0-9]*$"
    messageDetailNoMatch="Quantity must be in whole number format."/>
    </af:inputText>
    </div>
    </af:column>
    Now when the user will enter say 400 in input text box "quantity" , the value should be divided in the same row to other column text box say "conversion" which holds the value as 40 , so if the division doesn't give any remainder(means remainder =0 ) means real value(400/40) = 10 then it should set the value of input text box "quantity" as 10 but the user should be able to see 400 which he/she entered before, as we want to send the 10 as request but we have to show 400 to the user and if remainder goes greater than 1 than it should show an error.
    I have to implement this in value change listener of the text box as i need to calculate the real value each time for a row.
    How should i implement this ?
    Thanks .
    Thanks.

    Thanks timo,
    But can you give me full details how should i implement this as i am newbie to ADF. I have found the data control in Data controls tab in left hand side and right click on it -> edit definition -> but it does not give me the option to add attribute , it just give me the option to edit the existing attribute. Can you explain me how to add the transient attribute and how to implement it ? Any sample code snippet ?
    Thanks.

  • Reset value of text box and still have user input as well.

    Hi,
    I currently have a PDF form that helps users print of labels depending what is entered into the first page and one of the boxes has an 'Additional Info' box that puts unto 10 characters onto one of the labels.
    This was made because a customer wanted something defining on the boxes so I included it on the box label now I have found another use for it.
    If a customer asks we can make a custom size curtain but only so many can fit in a box as we show on the label how many fits in the box depending on the size via icons and I have decided to use this extra info to define how many are in this box if the customer asks for a custom size and I have managed to be able to have a dialogue box that the user enters how many will be in the box and it will enter that into the extra info box but I have found no way of clearing it when we start using standard size again except from event.value = " " unfortunately this stops the user from being able to edit anything within the box as it clears as any calculation is run through again.
    I have tried using
    if (this.getField("SizeDrop").value == 'BE'){
    event.value = this.getField("csn").value + " IN A BOX"
    } else {
    event.value.defaultValue;
    but it will not clear the box but allows the user to clear it and be able to put any other information in it if required.
    is there anyway of having the box cleared after "SizeDrop" is changed from 'BE'?
    Thanks,
    Bruce

    Hi - Thanks for your time; I was trying to make it work without using the operator pattern MATCH within the prompt definition; i dont want to show the answers report to the user with the words like contains any, pattern match so i was trying to use the operator equal to/is in within the prompt definition which does not work
    thanks for your time

  • Filtering based on the value in a Input Box?

    Is it possible to filter a gallery based on something I enter into an input box?
    If so what is the syntax for the command I need?
    Right now I am trying Filter(UF_Football_Roster, Number =) and then I have no idea what to put after the equals sign.
    Thanks for the help!

    Hi Philip,
    Yes. Assuming Number is a column in the table_UF_Football_Roster, and assuming you added an input text visual named InputText1, here is the syntax:
    Filter(UF_Football_Roster, Number = InputText1!Text)
    If the value in the Number column are stored as numbers you may need to use the function
    Value:
    Filter(UF_Football_Roster, Number = Value(InputText1!Text))

  • How to show value in list box on screen.

  • Changing an output box in a case structure to an input box

    Hi, I have been struggling with the following problem in Labview:
    Hi, I was working on a wiring diagram in Labview and I was trying to
    wire an absolute value symbol to the right border of a case structure.
    The problem is that I get an output box (an white filled box with an
    orange border) instead of an input box (an orange filled box). How
    would I change the output box into an input box? I have tried Ray
    Kong's method, which is to add a constant and that would make the box
    solid. It worked only once but when I tried it on another output box
    it did not work. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Please
    include step by step instructions as I am still learning Labview.
    Thank you
    Muhammad Asfour

    The box type will be appropriate for what you have wired to the box.
    When you say you want an "input box", do you REALLY want an input box (ie, a
    connection bringing a value from outside of your case statement to the
    inside of your case statement) or do you mean that you want your output box
    (a connection bringing data from inside your case statement to the outside)
    to be solid orange? The output box will go solid orange when you have a
    connection from EACH case to the box. Remember that a single output box
    (usually on the right side of the case statement) must be connected to
    something in each case of your case statement. It will be filled white
    until all cases are wired.
    Write back if this isn't clear of if I have mis-understood your situation.
    Hope this hel
    ps.

  • Conditional for a text input box NOT being null? Sorry for asking so many questions!

    Okay, here's the situation. I'm creating a simulation of a form on which there are several text input boxes, 7 of which are mandatory fields. I know I can use a conditional to check whether the box has nothing in it by creating a null variable with no value and doing "if [box variable] is equal to [null variable] then", but the problem is that the validation captions I need to show need to be shown in order, that is to say that the caption for entering a value for the first box will always be shown if that box is null regardless of the contents of other boxes, the second will be shown if that one is null and the first one isn't etc.
    When I was investigating this I noticed a post by Lilybiri saying that comparison with a null variable doesn't work for "not equal to" so I'm having a hard time figuring out how to show the captions based on priority. For example, to show the second caption I need to not only check whether the second box variable is null, but also whether the first one isn't.
    It gets pretty crazy further along the line where I get to the 7th mandatory field and need to check whether the first, second, third, fourth, fifth and sixth boxes are NOT null and whether the 7th one IS. Help!
    I did come up with one potential solution to this prior to posting: if I set a different advanced action for each input box losing focus which checks whether the variable is null and if so sets a "flag" variable to 0, and in the else set it to 1, I imagine I can then replace the "not equal to" with a check to that flag variable being equal to 1 (which means there is text in the box). I think this will work but I thought I'd check to see if there's an easier way first.

    No it DOESN'T require everything to be on one slide.  It just has to LOOK as if that's what it is.
    I would suggest that it doesn't really matter how many Captivate slides are involved in the final solution, as long as it works the same way (or as close as possible) to the original software that you are simulating.  Your users don't frankly know or care how you achieved the simulation.  I guarantee they won't be thinking of you or Captivate.
    In my experience, you can make creating elearning a lot more difficult than it needs to be in Captivate by trying to rebuild the app, rather than just simulating how it works. For example, thinking that if everything happened on one web page or screen in the app then it must also happen on a single slide in Captivate.  The fact of the matter is IT DOESN'T need to work this way.  And in some cases it might even be impossible to reproduce in Captivate this way.
    So the quickest path to a solution is often to use multiple slides, which has the advantage of allowing you to "fix" certain things on screen (e.g. the contents of fields already visited) by using READ ONLY variable output in transparent captions, focusing only on one element of the interface that the user can interact with on that slide.  It doesn't necessarily prevent you from moving back and forth between elements, just as you can in the original app.  But it is far easier to create and maintain.
    I'm not saying you wouldn't be able to pull this off on one slide in Captivate, but it is going to require a LOT of variables and Advanced Actions to build and debug.  So the term Rapid Elearning becomes something of a misnomer if it takes you a long time to complete one slide.

  • Text input box to show in another text field

    Hello,
    I have a text input box (Text1) showing during a certain label on the stage.  On another label there is another text field (Text2) that is not input-able.  This second text field (Text2) should show whatever the user has inputted in the first text input field (Text1).
    Both of these elements are not symbols and right now they are both text elements.
    Does anyone know how to do this?
    Thanks,
    ~iana~

    I believe the inputField is set accordingly.  And including your reply, here's what I've got on my stage:
    sym.$("Name").attr('contentEditable', true);
    var inputValue = sym.$("Name").value;
    // other text
    sym.$("Signature").html(inputValue);
    Thus far, this does not work. "Name" field is Text1 (inputField) and the "Signature" is Text2 (text box)
    I'm new to all this so I've prob got something wrong...do you know what I should adjust?

  • How do I create an input box with a cancel button that will end a loop in my script?

    I have been working on a script for my client and I am having trouble getting it to work properly. I stole most of the code from the PowerShell Tip of the Week "Creating a Custom Input Box". I also took someone's code for the Show-MessageBox function.
    I have slightly modified the original code with two parameters and an additional text box. The first field is for an e-mail address and the second is for an employee number.
    I need to know how I can get a Do Until loop to recognize when the cancel button is pushed and break the loop and effectively end the script. The work happens at the end but perhaps I need something added/modified in the InputBox function.
    I want the script to check to see if anything has been entered in the second text box. If empty it displays a message and calls the InputBox function again. Then if there is something I use elseif to check to see if it matches my RegEx (digits only). If
    it doesn't match it will loop and call the InputBox function again.
    This all works fine. The problem I am having is that I cannot cancel out of the form. I'd like the loop to continue until the second box matches my RegEx or Cancel is clicked. Clicking cancel doesn't break the loop. I need to know how I can stop the loop
    when cancel is pressed. I've seen Stack "Overflow: PowerShell Cancel Button Stop Script" but I don't think this will work in a loop.
    Any help would be awesome. As a note, I DO NOT want to use the VB Interaction stuff.

  • How to set an input box in an HTML Web Resource embedded in a CRM 2013 form

    I have embedded an HTML web resource that contains some input boxes in a custom CRM form. In the CRM form I have created some fields that corresponds to the input boxes in the web resource and they are hidden.
    The reason to do so was the limitation of the CRM not giving me the flexibility of the layout I was looking for. So basically, the user enters the data in the web resource and once saved they write to the hidden fields. On the other hand, when the form loads
    the values from the hidden fields are copied into the web resource input boxes.
    I am having a hard time setting those input boxes from the corresponding hidden fields on the form. I can read the crm fields easily using JavaScript. I can also get to the HTML web resource using the following:
    var target = Xrm.Page.getControl("WebResource_CriticalPath").getObject(); I also appended the contentWindow.document to the end of this and it comes back not null but when I try to get to the HTML element which is the inputbox I am trying to set
    the value to, I get a null reference. I am using:
    target.getElementById('input20'); to get to the element. I know this is not supported and I have to use Xrm.Page but I cannot figure out how to do so.
    Also, any advice on how to do the writing back (i.e. from the element to the form field) when the record is save would be helpful.
    I really appreciate any comments/help in this regard.

    Hello,
    What I would suggest is try to do everything from your html webresource. Add following code to set you field's value during onload:
    document.getElementById('input20').value = window.parent.Xrm.Page.getAttribute('hidden field id').getValue();
    Add following code to onchange hanlder to put changes back:
    window.parent.Xrm.Page.getAttribute('hidden field id').setValue(document.getElementById('input20').value);

  • How to use input box LOV in query panel (search region)

    Hi,
    We are having JDeveloper version 11.1.2.4.0
    In one of the JSF page, we are showing some data (absences).
    Requirement is to add search region at the top so that user can filter the data, based on search parameters like Business Group, Job etc.
    The search parameters are inter-dependent e.g. Job is dependent on Business Group. So when user selects some particular Business Group, Job search field should show jobs for that Business Group only.
    This works fine we use Choice List for both Business Group and Job.
    However since there are huge number of jobs, Job choice list makes page rendering very slow.
    So we tried to use Input box with LOV for Job.
    But now when job is selected in the LOV popup and returned to main page, job search field shows job id instead of job name.
    Please note that our base VO (AbsencesVO) contains JobId attribute. We have added List of Values on JobId, which fetches Job Name through JobVO1 view accessor.
    How to make Job LOV field show selected Job Name instead of ID? Kindly advise.
    Thanks,
    Vivek

    Thanks Timo/Bangaram, for prompt replies
    Timo, the link mentioned by you talks about showing IDs (DepartmentId, ManagerId etc.) in the search region. I need to show names in the form of Input box LOV.
    Bangaram, as per your suggestion I tried using transient JobName attribute. However now when I select any value in the Job LOV popup and return to main page, it shows first Job Name in the Job Name search field.
    Also when I click 'Search' button in Search panel, it shows error - Attempt to set a parameter name that does not occur in the SQL: BindJobName
    Please note that I have added both JobName and JobId in the List configuration as you suggested.
    In View criteria, I have removed previous item (condition) on JobId and added condition on JobName.(This is required because JobId condition shows JobId search field)
    I also tried making JobName dependent on JobId..still same behaviour.
    Kindly advise.
    Thanks,
    Vivek
