Client Logon Failed : Version of DB?

I had used Oracle Portal and Oracle Database version 8.1.6.3.0 Enterprise Edition and everything was working very well.
But when I upgrade the version of database Oracle to 8.1.6.3.4 Enterprise Edition, an error occur:
"Client Logon Failed with errorcode:604"
Error-Code:604
Error TimeStamp:Tue, 20 Mar 2001 13:32:30 GMT
Database Log In Failed
TNS is unable to connect to destination. Invalid TNS address supplied or destination is not listening. This error can also occur because of underlying network transport problems.
Verify that the TNS name in the connectstring entry of the DAD for this URL is valid and the database listener is running.
The connectstring entry of DAD is correct. Otherwise, I saw that a "session" was created on Oracle Database.
Any kind of Tips are welcome. Thanks
null

Enrique,
Can you back out this 8.1.6.3.4 patch back to 8.1.6.3.0 and resume operation with Portal as before? Do you have any database backups to get you back (on the data side) to 8.1.6.3.0?
Please let us know your latest situation.
Best Regards,
Harry

  • Error Message when logging on "The Group Policy Client service failed the logon. Access is denied"

Since the move to Windows 7 we have started getting this error above when people login at random times and on random machines, at first we thought it was only a select few users, but now it seems to have occurred to about 20 different Staff members working
at the school. Also of those 20 odd users it has happened to them on a few occasions.
    What we know
We know this problem is only occurring to staff with Roaming Profiles, it seems like somehow the profile is not Synchronizing with the Servers File Share that houses the profiles, which causes the NTUSER.DAT file to become corrupt and go from being around
2 – 3 MBs to 256KB (In all cases where a user has had this issue there NTUSER.DAT file has been 256KB)
    Current Resolution to the problem
When a staff member contact us with this problem, we fortunately have Previous Versions working on the profiles folder on the server, so we are able to restore their NTUSER.DAT file from 1 to 2 days before it became corrupt, which then seems to allow them
    to log on fine
What we have tried so far & suggested so far
After some research on Google, we found the following thread on EduGeek
    http://www.edugeek.net/forums/windows-7/78733-windows-7-user-profile-failed-error-again.html#post700415
Which suggested that the problem may lay within registry, so we implemented the Script that was posted on the website, however this has not seemed to make any difference
In the early stages when only 5 – 10 staff seemed to be having the problem, we believed the issue could be with just certain AD accounts. It had not seemed to happen to any recently created AD accounts so we thought it could be a corrupt attribute on
the user so we delete one of the staff AD accounts that had the problem and creating a brand new one, however within about 2 – 3 weeks that staff member had the issue occur again
Leading on from point two, we also thought the problem could be with people using multiple computers, logging on in 2 places and not logging off properly, but unfortunately the staff member referred to in point 2 only uses the one computer in reception.
Another potential cause that we figured might be the route of the problem, was it could be specific computers that are not communicating properly with the server, which could be causing this problem to occur, but we have no real way of testing this,
as the staff generally log onto 3 – 4 different computers throughout the day and in different location
We log a call with EE and they just pointed us to various websites that we had already checked and wasn’t much help.
    In Summary
This error has now occurred with about 20 members of staff, we currently only use Windows 7 at our Senior School & Moving to Windows 7 at our Prep School in the Summer
holidays, we would like to find out the route of this problem ideally before then, as we could potentially be doubling the amount of staff with the problem after the move. Has anyone else seen this problem or have a brain wave on how to solve it?

  • The Group Policy Client Service Failed The Logon

    Hello,
When our students login to our Windows 7 machines they are getting this error:
The Group Policy Client Service Failed The Logon
    Access is denied.
We are attempting to use both volatile and roaming profiles. The profiles are being stored on their H drives. I seem to only see the issue when the Windows NT 6.1 Workstation Profile.V2 folder already exists on their H drive. If the profile is not there then everything works fine.
Loading the user's ntuser.dat hive located in their H drive and changing the permissions manually to allow System, Administrators, and Users Full Control fixes the issue. How can I do this across all my user's H drives? Should I just delete them all and manually create the folder myself?
Last time I found one, the permissions for the hive had an "Unknown" user in the permissions list. There was no "Users" group. Removing the "Unknown" and adding "Users" fixed the problem. Are the permissions getting corrupted somehow?
    Thanks for any assistance.

  • Trial version logon failed.

    Dear All,
I have down loaded the trail version of Crystal report 10 days back, was using the same till yesterday. Now when I try to create a report I get a message "LOGON FAILED", on my machine. But using the same product key if I logon in another machine it works.
What could be the reason for the same?
    Any Answer??
    Yours Truly
    K Sengupto

Hey  Have you tried to create a sample report by using the default database, i.e. Extreme sample database.
If you were sucessfull to create that then try to create a new DSN.
Else you have no problem with crystal sample report then create new DSN connection and try to create a report, still if you are facing  any problem then it is suggested  to re-install the crystal version again because any of your Dll files might  be corrupted.

  • XI / 11.5 version conflict?  (logon failed)

Our software runs Crystal XI (installed via merge modules) against an Access database.  Everything was fine until one of our customers installed the latest upgrade to their accounting software, which uses Crystal 11.5.  Now, every time the customer tries to launch a report from our software, they get a "logon failed" message.
Uninstalling and re-installing our software did not have any effect.  Is there some known conflict between XI and 11.5?  If so, is there any workaround?
    Thanks,
    Ron Moses
    ConEst Software

    Hi Ron,
You need to get your developer involved. If you are using the RDC ( craxdrt.dll ) then you can specify the version to load. The other guys need to do this also. If you can't verify then your only option is to install your software on another PC.
Posted after your reply. Can you check what accounting package they are using and if they also version their runtime?
Try using Modules, you can get it from our download page. Run their software and then yours and save the listing file. then you can compare your against your test system to see what the difference is.
CR does version checking so XI won't load XI R2 runtime. It's likely something the other guys installed with the database drivers or MDAC.
    Thanks

    Hi Ychinnari,
I have tested on my local environment and can reproduce the issue, as
Vaishu00547 mentioned that the issue can be caused by the Execution Account you have configured in the Reporting Services Configuration Manager is not correct, Please update the Username and Password and restart the reporting services.
Please also find more details information about when to use the execution account, if possible, please also not specify this account:
This account is used under special circumstances when other sources of credentials are not available:
When the report server connects to a data source that does not require credentials. Examples of data sources that might not require credentials include XML documents and some client-side database applications.
When the report server connects to another server to retrieve external image files or other resources that are referenced in a report.

  • Logon Failed Error in Crystal Reports

    Hiii Experts,
We are facing one error while working on crystal reports 2008 and SAP Version 8.8-PL18 and SAP 8.81-PL 9
"Logon Failed"  Error comes  even when we add all connection details correctly in connection details window, sometimes it comes some time not.
              We face this error when,
    1) When verifying the database in Crystal reports.
2)When we are saving any particular report in sap B1.
3)It comes when we try to set the database Location in Crystal Reports.
4)Also,when we are trying to view preview of report.
This problem is too much time consuming and irregular. We are not able to find exact cause. Please, help  us.

    Hi Suhas,
when making a test, its always a good practice to test in the same PL, or in a Higher PL.
anyways, you need to update your Datasource, from your CR IDE goto Database -->> Set Datasource Location. then use either of the 2
    1. OLE DB (ADO) - Driver (SQL Server Native Client 10.0)
    2. SAP Business One
    and update your datasource accordingly.

  • Database logon failed

    Hi everyone,
I know this is a famous error in CR but due to my special case, I need to make sure before enacting any further actions.
We are developing a java application which uses CR2013 as its report server (32bit) installed on a 2012 windows server (64bit) and uses ODBC oracle client as database connection to our application's database (32bit).
The main functionality of CR is showing some reports in HTML format and in parallel, our application connects to CR in the background, generates the PDF version of the reports and places it in the database. We still have not got CR2013 license (before this we had 2008 licensed version but our software team are moving to 2013 and we, as the test team, have to) and CR2013 is working with a trial one. The issue we get when we try to generate more than a couple of reports is the following :
    com.company.software.report.control.ReportInterfaceImpl:generatePdfStream:110]-[ERROR] Database logon failed.
com.crystaldecisions.sdk.occa.report.lib.ReportSDKLogonException: Database logon failed.---- Error code:-2147217393 Error code name:dbLogonFailed
and after this error, you cannot generate any more reports, even if you close all of your sessions or anything. Every time you try to generate a report (whether its generating the pdf in the background or not) we see this error again until we restart CR or its server.
We had this issue in our CR2008 long time ago, and when we had the license, everything worked pretty well.
As our client is going to buy a license soon, so I need to make sure this problem's root cause is the license. My concern is that putting the license in the server does not make this problem go away.
As obvious, im not good at CR, we only use this for generating reports. I hope people in this community can help me over this issue.

May have something to do with .Refresh().
If you search for crlogger you'll find how to enable our database logging component. May tell you what you are looking for.

  • Logon fail error

I created a Windows appliction using CR 2008 basic (VS2008). It connects to an SQL server 2008 computer using SQL server authentication. The application works fine in Vista and Windows Server 2008; it connects to the SQL server, generates the report and shows it fine. All this without asking me about username and password to logon to the database (as i provide the username and password in the code). However, when i use the application in Windows Server 2003 or Win XP, it gives a logon failed error and shows a prompt for entering username and passord to logon to the database. Even when i enter the correct password, it keeps giving logon error. I'd appreciate any help. Thanks.

More than likely, this is a database client issue - either not installed, not installed correctly, or incorrect version. E.g.; it is not a code issue. Couple of ways of troubleshooting this:
    1) Download the Modules utility and compare the dlls loading on a working and non working machines. Modules is [here|https://smpdl.sap-ag.de/~sapidp/012002523100006252802008E/modules.zip]
    2) Download an eval of CR 2008, install it on one of the non working computers and try to run the report fromthe designer. Eval of CR 2008 can be downloaded from [here|http://www.sap.com/solutions/sapbusinessobjects/sme/freetrials/index.epx]

  • Message: "Logon failed. Details: Select one of the installed languages".

    Hi all,
In Crystal Reports 2008 (version: 12.1.0.892) I want to make a new connection to our SAP ECC system (SAP Table, Cluster or Function). The available SAP systems as defined in my SAP Logon appear and I choose the ECC system. After entry of Client, Username and Password an error message appears:
"Logon failed. Details: Select one of the installed languages"
I'm quite sure the system tries to make the login in Dutch and that language is not installed in SAP ECC (just English and German). However, Crystal operates fully in English. Has anyone an idea why the login takes place in Dutch and how the language can be changed at login?
    Thnx in advace,
    Henk.

    Hi Chris,
I am facing the same problem from Crystal Reports. I tried changing the locale as you instructed, but could not resolve the issue.
The difference here is, it was working perfect until a week before.
    Appreciate your help on this.
    Thanks & Regards,

  • "Program terminated in remote system NONE: Logon failed" when adding a new table

    Hello,
I set up a replication flow from a SAP ERP 6.0 EHP7 with SAP ASE 16.0 source to SAP HANA 1.0 rev 82 target
I am using a standalone SLT system NetWeaver 7.0 with DMIS 2011_1_731 (with SP 1 to 7).
I have 100 tables to replicate.
I succeeded to set up replication for 57 tables. These tables are replicating properly.
Whenever I try to add a new one (with LTRC transaction, Data Provisioning -> Start Replication), the new table is marked as 'Failed' after a little while.
When I press 'Show Error Log' button I got an obscure error message:
"Program terminated in remote system NONE: Logon failed "
I do not understand this message. I checked both on SAP ASE source and SAP HANA target. I am still able to connect against both source and target.
Can you please tell how to troubleshoot this error.
    Thanks in advance,
    Christian

First thank you for answering my questions. I really appreciate your answers.
    I rechecked the documentation.
"Application Operations Guide SAP Landscape Transformation Replication Server Document Version: 2.3 – 2014-07-08"
    Page 29 - 30
    3.5.2.2 Data Transfer Jobs
This section explains the relationship between the number of data transfer jobs and the number of available background work process.
Data transfer and data transformation processing on SLT server system is accomplished by the background work processes of the underlying SAP NetWeaver ABAP application server. Each job occupies 1 background work process in the SAP LT Replication Server system. For each configuration, the parameter Data Transfer Jobs restricts the maximum number of data load job for each mass transfer ID (MT_ID). In total, a mass transfer ID (MT_ID) requires at least 4 background jobs to be available:
 One monitoring job (master job)
     One master controller job
 At least one data load job
 One additional job either for the migration objects definition, access plan calculation or to change configuration settings in the Configuration & Monitoring Dashboard
    Example
If you set the parameter Data Transfer Jobs to 04 in a configuration “SCHEMA1”, a mass transfer ID 001 is assigned. As a result, the following jobs should be in the system:
    1 Master controller job: /1LT/IUC_REP_CNTR_001
     At most 4 parallel jobs for MT_ID 001: /1LT/IUC_LOAD_MT_001_001/~002/~003/~004
When configuring your data load or replication scenario, consider the following:
 Do not define more data transfer jobs than the number of available application server background work processes. If all available background work processes are already occupied by jobs, any other job will have to wait until a free work process becomes available. This can lead to long wait times until a new activity (for example creating triggers) can start, and can also result in significantly increased latency times for data replication.
 The number of dialog work processes in the source system corresponds 1:1 with the number of data transfer jobs in the SAP LT Replication Server system.
 Besides the work processes allocated by the data transfer jobs you need to provide additional available work processes for controller and monitoring jobs, the migration objects definition, access plan calculation or to perform configuration changes, and so on.
Sizing for SAP LT Replication Server involves determining how many work processes are required to perform the initial load of data into the target system within an acceptable timeframe, and accomplish the change capturing and the transfer of data changes to the target system within expected latency times.
Ensure that you add enough additional work processes to allow other required SAP LT Replication Server jobs to run.
Finally, you map the number of required application server work processes to their system resource consumption (CPU, memory, disc space) using the formulas provided by the SLT Sizing Guide.
With the simple formula below, you can calculate the number of required application server work processes (WPs) on the SLT Server for each active SLT configuration.
The number of required work processes can be determined by adding
 The Number of required data transfer jobs ,
 plus one background work process for Central Master (Monitoring) Job (only one per system!),
 plus one background work process for Master Controller Job,
 plus 3-5 additional empty background work processes (recommended per configuration),
 plus approx. 3 dialog work processes (recommended for each configuration).
Note: A lack of available free application server work processes can negatively affect the data load or data replication processes.
To summarize everything, the number of 'Data Transfer Jobs' must be set depending of the number of source tables, it is not the actual number of tables.
Assume that for my 100 tables I use 10 'Data Transfer Jobs' :
    - The number of work processes on the SLT server would be 20. I took the simple formula of the documentation:
    10 data transfer jobs ,
+ 1 background work process for Central Master (Monitoring) Job (only one per system!),
+ 1 background work process for Master Controller Job,
+ 5 additional empty background work processes (recommended per configuration),
+ 3 dialog work processes (recommended for each configuration).
    - The number of dialog processes on the source server would be 10 ( equal to the number of 'Data Transfer Jobs')
    Am I correct ?

    Christian

Is there a solution for that?

    Hi,
The service is responsible for applying settings configured by administrators for the computer and users through the Group Policy component. This issue can be caused by various reasons based on the computer environment.

  • Getting Logon Failed error connecting to SAP R/3 with Crystal

I have Crystal Reports 2008 and also the SAP Integration Kit installed on my desktop.  I've imported the transports into my DEV and QAS systems and am trying to connect directly to R/3 from Crystal using the SAP Table, Cluster or Function choice.
    I receive the error:
Logon failed.  Details: You do not have the necessary rights to design reports against the SAP system.  Please check with your system administrator.
I'm using a logon that has full rights within SAP.  It recognizes my password because when I try a password that I know is wrong I get a different error message: Logon failed. Detail: Name or password is incorrect.  I receive the same error in PRD even though I have not imported the transports into that client.
I have Crystal Server but am not trying to use that at the moment.  Just Crystal Reports as a standalone product.  If I've left something out please let me know.
    Thank you,
    Kevin Scheeler

  • Database Logon Failed after first report

I have a Windows Server 2003 x86 server running IIS6 and ASP.NET. On this server, I have two different web forms set up to export Crystal Reports to PDF.
My problem is that only one of these reports can run. For example, I open report 1 and can then reopen (generate PDF of) report1 as many times as I want. I cannot open report 2 - I get a "Database Logon Failed" error message. If I restart the server, I can generate a PDF of report 2 successfully and as many times as I want but report 1 will get a "Database Logon Failed" error message.
Has anyone seen this behavior before? My code is very concise and manually closes the report document (and forces the garbage collection to run) once the PDF has been generated. However, for some reason, the report is staying in memory and is trying to run again even though it has been closed. It is driving me crazy.
Thanks in advance for any assistance you can offer.

Let's get the server confusion out of the way.
A "server" runtime install is an msi file called CrystalReports11_5_NET_2005.msi.
The msi is in a download called Crystal Reports XI Release 2 - FP x.x .NET Server Install (where x.x refers to SP or FP version (e.g.; Crystal Reports XI Release 2 - FP 5.6 .NET Server Install)
So, this gives you an easy way of installing the CR runtime on a server (e.g.. Win 2003 server). No CR server (RAS) implication here. To install the runtime, all you have to do is run the msi, provide the keycode when prompted and the runtime is installed. You should see the directory C:\Program Files\Business Objects\Common\3.5\bin created. No pretty interface, etc. If you want a pretty interface, you create your own setup project or msi using the CR msm files.
Hopefully this clears up the "server" confusion.
To the actual issue on hand.
You say this works with older "Crystal Reports viewers" installed on a WIN 2003 64 bit server. My question is; does this CR XI r2 based app work anywhere? Your dev box? Staging server?
