Client side transaction support?

Hi,
I am curious if anyone knows of any client side AS3/flex
transaction library out there. Specifically client side, not
anything server side.
For example I have one operation that does 2 distinct
operations, if any one of them fails I need to rollback both of
them. An example would be a class that is responsible for modifying
a file on disk and then updating a local database on the client
(regardless of implementation sqllite, xml, textfile etc). Should
either of these operations fail I would like to rollback the
file/db to it's original state.
Does anyone know of any client side AS3 transaction library
that defines interfaces for such a framework? Thanks!

The problem is that NTLM is a Microsoft proprietary authentication mechanism.
I believe there are some products in the JavaMail Third Party Products page
that support NTLM.

We must manage the transaction on the client's side (using UserTransaction from
javax.transaction.UserTransaction) due to we have a entity-relasionship
model and we must care about the data so if an entity can not not insert the data, we must
roll back the whole trasaction.
Unfortunally the OAS, when we are asking for a new transaction, it doesn't recognize
the request, so we need to know how to implement this part or we need to install a service
pack in order to get this functionality from the server.

There's your fundamental problem... We KNOW from bitter experience that rich client app are NOT scalable. The world simply doesn't work that way.
Architecture starts from the foundations and works up. Computer systems achitectures start from the server and work out... We're just not out there yet dude.
My crystal ball says that within 20 years computers will be sooooo freeken fast that "scalable" really won't be an issue any longer, except for worldwide realtime massive transaction rate systems (like VR role playing games)... so enterprise solutions will naturally migrate back towards the desktop.
In the meantime the kids are having fun on the desktop and us "boring backend people" collect $40 million dollars in twenty minutes with rock-solid server-side solutions. Horses for courses. Watch for pitch reports.

Client side caching

Hi all,
I wonder how client side caching (in memory) would work with BlazeDS.
There was a project called FAST that would support client side caching for Remoting:
http://www.adobe.com/devnet/flex/articles/fast_userguide.html, but this doesn't seem to work for Flex 3.
Do I have to invent my own caching mechanism?
Without client side caching support I don't see how an application build on BlazeDS remoting would ever scale to many users.

Hi Markus. I took a look at that FAST project. There isn't anything like that in BlazeDS currently. It probably wouldn't be too hard to port that code to make it work with Flex 3 but it's usefulness looks somewhat limited. There doesn't look to be any way to timeout a request that has been cached for example which I think most people would want. If you think this is something that would be useful you can log an enhancement request in Jira.

As to your point about not seeing how an application built on BlazeDS remoting would scale, I think it's a fairly common practice to not expose functions to the end user that directly call backend services. It's pretty straightforward, for example, to request some data when the application loads and then refresh the data at some interval. You don't need a caching API to do this.

Does URL Services support client side script?

My ASP page it built as a portlet, and displays fine but it
won't submit. When I view the Source in my browser, Portal
didn't include any of my client side vbscript script, then html
is there but everything else is missing....
Question: Does URLServices support client-side VBScript?
I am using some vbscript for validation purposes and then
using the document.ChangePassword.submit() to submit the
form.
If URLServices doesn't support it, then URLServices is totally

Client Side Rich Internet Applications in Java. Do we have support for it ?

What about the use of Java EE technologies on client-side ? The Java EE 5 specification lists different technologies: servlet, JSP, JSF, EJB, JTA, JDBC, JPA, JMS, JNDI, JavaMail, XML processing, JCA, JAAS, web services, JMX...
Almost all of them are used on the server side. What about building applications on the client side ?
Is Sun thinking too much hardware these days ? Why is that most of the products come out of 3rd party vendors like apache for instance ?

Client Side Support for NTLM

Hi
I have been trying to read my mails from Microsoft Exchange Server by using java library developed by Various Software Products like Javamail,Mousetrap,Icemail,Jscape,JavaMail, and IPWorks.
On our server side we are having "Secure Password Authentication"(NTLM) in order to encode and decode mails, So we need to use the same Authorisation Mechanism on Client Side so that we can read mails from the Exchange Server.
( As Server Side Autherisation Mechanism should match with Client Side Autherisation Mechansim to read mails from Exchange Server)
On Client Side, I have tried using the software products that i specified above. All the above listed products are supporting CRAMMD5,PLAIN,LOGIN,DIGEST-MD5 Autherisation Mechanisms But, No one are supporting NTLM Autherisation.
As we have NTLM autherisation mechanism set on the server side, so i need to use the same Autherisation mechanism on client side too.
The current Exchange server version we are using is " 5.5.2654.50". I have also tried installing the Evaluation version of Microsoft Exchange server 2003 and checked whether it supports any other authentication other than NTLM. I found that, it is allowing me to use either "Clear Text" or "NTLM".
could anyone help me in providing any Software Product (Java Library) that supports "NTLM Autherisation" to read mails from Exchange Server.

How can i load file into database from client-side to server-side

i want to upload file from client-side to server-side, i use the following code to load blob into database.
if the file is in the server-side, it can work, but if it in the client-side, it said that the system cannot find the file. i think it only will search the file is in the server-side or not, it will not search the client-side.
how can i solve it without upload the file to the server first, then load it into database??

Without some more details of the configuration, its difficult to know
what's happening here. For example, what do you mean by client side
and server side, and where are you running the upload Java application?
If you always run the application on the database server system, but can't
open the file on a different machine, then it sounds like a file protection
problem that isn't really connected with the database at all. That is to
say, if the new FileInputStream (binaryFile) statement fails, then its not
really a database problem, but a file protection issue. On the other hand,
I can't explain what's happening if you run the program on the same machine
as the document file (client machine), but you can't write the data to the
server, assuming the JDBC connection string is set correctly to connect to
the appropriate database server.
If you can provide some more information, we'll try to help.

I have few requirement in the crytsal report asp,net page:-
1) If user click Print button of crystal report viewer toolbar then it goes to PDf then its show me all of my pages instead of showing me the current page on which i click print.
2) I want to use client side print..if user click on a my print button then i need to show print dailogue like image above in that if user click print then i need to print that current page.. let us consider im viewing I3 Invoice number using Crysatl report viewer Navagition then it show me as 3/7 in toolbar if user click on my print button then i need to print the page 3 only.. coz user clicked print on Page3.
3)My asp.net web app is in Hosting server if user click my print button then i need to show client print dailogue and it will show my cleint connected printer. Here crytsal report toolbar and other things should be hide. It should be like what we have designed in crystal report that alone should be get printed.

I have a requirement where I need to add client-side scripting in an HTML page to be supported by Safari on iPad that creates a private / public key pair and that creates a CSR (Certificate Signing Request) in PKCS#10 or SPKAC format that can be sent to a certification authority server using form HTTP/POST that will then return the generated certificate.
I initially thought that I could simply use the HTML 5 tag <keygen> which can do exactly what I need, but unfortunately this tag is not at all supported on mobile Apple devices like iPad or iPhone, so I have to look for another solution.
I have noticed that the KeyChain tool should be available on iPad using the documented API, but I have no idea based on the documentation whether the API can be called from client-side HTML scripting on iPad.
Question : is it technically possible using the functionalities and API's exposed on an iPad to implement what I just described in HTML client-side scripting? If so, do you have some links with useful information that can help me on my way?

Error running a client side program through the worklist app

I am trying to run a simple client side application (actually just a command script

The reason I asked about the computer OS was in case you needed to do a clean install of iTunes. It works differently on the Mac computer than on Windows. A complete uninstall and reinstall on a Windows computer requires you to follow specific instructions in a support document, while on a Mac, I have read you just have to reinstall over the old one.
I'm not sure if installing/updating to iTunes 11 would be the same on Windows or not, but since you report using a Mac, then it is probably a mute point. Good luck.

Why does IE8 running on XP and Win7 Virtual Machine deletes the history while I'm still browsing the same site with client-side hashbang routing?

I have a asp.net mvc 5 web application running on .net 4.5 hosted on my local windows 8 machine on macbook pro using parallels. I'm running Internet Explorer 8 Version: 8.0.6001.18702 running on XP and Version: 8.0.7601.17514 running on Windows 7 Enterprise.
I've got both of the virtual machine source from www.modern.ie
My web application is attempting to provide single page user experience by having some client-side routing by using '#!/xxx' hashbangs in the url so that I can get and post via ajax and change the hash in the url without causing the page to reload. My
code works fine in IE9+ and other modern browsers.
However, I'm facing this strange issue in both of the IE8 versions. When running my demo app in IE8, I can login, view home page and can navigate from this home page to many details page. From the very first login page, all the pages are the result
of form's post action via ajax which then expects html from server and loads in the DOM. The page structure of my app is like summary form => Details page (can also contain summary forms) => Details...so on.
The above process works fine for few of the navigation steps. If I keep navigating from one page to another & go back, I have observed that the browser back button is removing the history items slowly. And a time comes when it totally forgets about
all the history pages that I visited to reach this current page I'm viewing!! It treats like I have just started my browsing session and this current page is the first page I've landed on with no back option. Now if I again try to navigate, I have encountered
problems like both the back and forward buttons gets disabled.
Hope, my words above is clear enough to explain this problem. The same application works fine in IE9+ and other browsers.
Till now, I have tried following steps on both VMs:
Resetting IE8.
Increasing disk space to 1024mb for temporary internet files storage.
Setting 'Never' for Check for newer versions of stored pages.
Disabling the automatic crash recovery feature didn't helped in this case. Found this on support website.
Deleted temporary files, history, cache, etc many a times.
Search many forums, posted question on StackOverflow, ASP.NET
Forums - but didn't helped.
Tried 'beforeunload' event of browser to see if any of the page is reloading because of submit or any other reason. But the page doesn't reload at all.
The issue is browser forgets about the browsing history while I'm still browsing the same site.
Is there any possible fix for the issue above? Does IE8 have any issues as many ajax form post is happening on every page?

I have really tried many things to identify any possible reason of the issue above. Even rewrote all my javascript navigation code and checked server-side code.
But the only place where I got the solution is at site: http://www.enhanceie.com/ie/bugs.asp which states that there is a bug in IE8 which reads like:
IE0012: IE Travellog broken when navigating back/away from a page with
a large POST form If there is a form input field with a value longer
than 523,659 characters, when you navigate away from the page, IE may
clear the current session's travellog (similar to history), disabling
the back and forward buttons. Repros in IE6 & IE7.
There are following solutions that you can go for:
- Check for the input field that has lots of characters as mentioned above and solve your problem.
- If you have control over the system where IE8 will be used, you can add the following registry key on that machine. There is no existing key, so, you need to add a new one:

I am really relaxed to find this information as I spent really long time to solve this issue. Hope this will help someone.

This is an error I've been seeing forever and it was always the impression that upgrading would resolve it, but it never has even in 10.3. 100% of our users get these errors in the Event Viewer:

We also seem to have flakey policy issues where once in awhile a user will not be able to logon to Windows with Workstation Only while getting the " not allowed to logon interactively" message, other times the users report not being able to access the Windows Date and Time Properties and further sometimes they are unable to make system changes.
We have troubleshooted this and the only resolutions we've found are to run zac cc, zac ref, zac pl and sometimes it seems like deleting c:\windows\system32\grouppolicy will help.
In regards to the Event Viewer entry I posted, on any given machine I can issue the command gpupdate and it will put another entry into the Event Viewer (sometimes multiple ones). I've learned through research that if I "clean up" c:\windows\system32\grouppolicy\gpt.ini the errors go away, but once the policy is refreshed they come right back.

I'm not sure how to get Zenworks to use the cleaned up version nor and I too sure what those extra extensions are and how they got in there. I may need to contact Novell in regards to this, but since I'm already working on an SR with them I figured I'd go ahead and post here first.

Read and write info from/to file available at client side.

Hi,
I have some table name in one CSV file at client side.
once you get list of tables name from input CSV file at client side.
Need to run one query to know total rows and size of table in MB , this i need to repeat for all tables which i got from input file.
finally write 'table name | total rows | size of table in MB' whole info in another CSV file at client side. this output CSV file name will contain timestamp.
Please guide me in detail how to read and write file avail at client side.
I am using sql developer at client side.

RMI client-side - how to encrypt,decrypt in client-side

I write javacard RMI style. My problem is...
Source code below is work when it write in applet (card - side)
but in client-side (reader -side) I copy it to client - side code and test to run, if fail --> throw exception 0x3 - javacard.security.CryptoException.NO_SUCH_ALGORITHM
It seem to be "javacardx.crypto" and "javacard.security" is make for use in applet in card only. Did I misunderstand?
if it make for use in applet only, how is possible to do like this " card use privatekey to sign message and send to reader , reader use card's publickey to verify that card sign this signature or not."
or
"card use reader's publickey to encrypt message and send to reader, then reader use privatekey to decrypt message (reader authencate itself) "
because I can't do any of cipher , keybuilder in RMI-client side(reader)
