re: "Microsoft proprietary code used by IE and will not work in Firefox."<br />
Why doesn't Microsoft get busy and write some plugins for other browsers? They wrote Silverlight for Firefox. Are they afraid other browsers will become more popular then IE? Or maybe that's already happened. I have a Mac Book Pro w/OSX snow leopard. It's a superior machine and OS. I tried a HP laptop w/Win 7 first. I had to return it before regurgitating.<br />
Addendum: Reasons for my disgust w/IE:
# If you run IEv8x w/all the "security updates" the processor is bogged down until the speed is unbearably slow. I doubt if there's one lousy compute cycle left for another task.
# Reasons for the above: all those security updates etc. are dialing home with tattle tale crap, along with all the adware, spyware, malware, and viruses you can think of that are floating around in cyberspace just waiting to infect your PC w/Windows OS.
# I have Symantec/Norton Internet Security on my Mac Book Pro. None of the above stuff has infected my Mac since I bought it 2 months ago. A welcome relief.

  • Wav files won't play in Firefox 22

Wav files won't play in Firefox 22. Previous versions of Firefox are fine. Other sound is fine. I have the latest mac OS X. Quicktime is set to play wav files. I have the latest version of it.
Is there a fix for this?
Is there any other plugins I can install which will play the wav files?

Thank you for your response Alice.
    I checked about:plugins and I DO have audio/wav and audio/x-wav. It it QuickTime 7.7.1 I have.
In Firefox Preferences Applications Panel I do not seem to have the iTunes.Document audio/x-wav there, only the audio/wav and Waveform Audio.
Re the New Email Notification feature with my Webmail, this is not activated via a Firefox extension. I don't really know how it works but when I'm logged into my Webmail email account and a new email arrives, a wav sound is played to alert me of the new email. This has always happened with all previous versions of Firefox, just not since I updated to Firefox 22 but when I go back to Firefox 21, it works again.
I have previously asked about this with my Webmail company. They knew nothing of this problem. I have now asked them for a second time now that I know that it is only THEIR wav sound that won't play. Other wav files play OK with Firefox 22.
I do not know what is at fault - Firefox 22, QuickTime or the Webmail site but for the past few days I have frequently switched between Firefox 22 and Firefox 21. Each time the New Email Notification wav sound works with Firefox 21 and doesn't with Firefox 22 so that makes me suspect that somehow Firefox 22 is at fault.
But it is a mystery and I might be stuck with it - unless it disappears as mysteriously as it arrived with a newer version of Firefox or maybe even a newer version of Quicktime.
Thank you to everybody who has tried to help me.

  • Imported Flash files are not playing in published output

Adobe Presenter 7 with the latest updates and PowerPoint 2007
When I insert a Captivate 3 generated Flash file into a Presenter slide, the flash file does not play in the Published output. The slide's image is displayed for 5 seconds and then stops.
After further review, I found that my imported Flash files are not included in the output. Any ideas?
    Terry

    Hi Terry,
It's been awhile since I've messed around w/ Captivate 3, but I have a quick question: does your Captivate content include a skin.swf file?  If so, then you may have to look at a couple of different solutions to fix the playback problem that you're seeing with Presenter.
One fix includes eliminating the skin by turning the borders option off which will eliminate the "_skin.swf" file. That'll be one less file to deal with, but you need to do that BEFORE publishing in Captivate.  From there, you should end up with one swf file from your Captivate content; and then at that point you can include that swf in your Presenter content.
And while we're at it....are you using any Full Motion Recordings at all?  I've seen instances where, as you reported, Captivate content will run for awhile, but then the screen "goes blank"...so I'm just curious to know if your Captivate content in actuality has many more files than the "base" swf---which is probably the swf you included in PowerPoint.
Having said that, can you share more information about what your Captivate project looks like (in terms of the number of swf files you're working with, etc), and let's see if we can resolve this for you.

  • .Mov files are not playing on my Mac BookPro

As of this week, I am unable to play my .mov files through Quick Time on my Mac Book Pro.  A small windo appears and states that sometype of conversion is occurring and eventually some of my movie files will play.
I am at work creating a .mov file through quick time and the file will not play.

That's a well documented limitation of JavaFX. Mov files are simply not supported.

  • [SOLVED] SWF files are not working in Firefox 5.0.1. When visiting websites with 'zoom' on photos Forefox asks how to handle rather than just going to zoom

On previous versions of Firefox I was able to use the 'zoom' feature on photos at retail websites. This no longer works. (You can go to Territory Ahead as an example). Firefox asks what to do with the SWF file. There is no option to use Shockwave (I think this is a Shockwave file). Thanks for your help. Warren

Ooops. Never mind. I recently upgraded other programs and I no longer had the Shockwave player installed in my system. Reinstalled it and all if well.

that's probably a local security restriction you have.  reset it to allow your swf to communicate across your local sandbox to the internet:  http://www.macromedia.com/support/documentation/en/flashplayer/help/settings_manager04.htm l

  • Cisco AQM 8.5 not recording : wav files are deleted from client side

    Daer Networkers,
We do have Cisco AQM 8.5 SR2 ES1 installed with UCCX 8.5
The issue is that when accessing the Web interface of AQM and try to look for calls, I can't find any one.
When checking the client side, I can see that the call are being recorded : The FROM and TO files are there. But once the call is terminated, the wav file appear for some seconds and then it dissappears asi fi it's deleted.
    The wav files are not in the server too;
I don't know what is the issue. Can you please help ?
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi,
This issue was resolved by doing a repair to the QM Base services, then run postinstall as if it was run for the first once.
The Proxy Gateway program was missing for some reason. After doing the repair the issue was resovled and calls are uploaded to the server.
Now I am facing another issue !  : I can hear the client voice only. Agent's voice couln't be heard in the recorded files. As if the agent's voice is not recorded. Can you please advise ?

  • Non-image files are not copied to the Backup Location

I'm on Aperture 3.0.3... I just noticed that non-image files (e.g., WAV files) are not copied into the Backup Location, although they are copied into the main folder location during an import. Does anyone else see this behavior?

    Shawnsat,
Yes you can still stream from the host computer, the knowledge base article that describes this is http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=305098. If you are attempting to display Photos on Apple TV, they must be synced to the Apple TV, per knowledge base article http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=305139.

  • "This wav file could not be read"

I have a DL project with 30 timelines. It has been playing and burning fine for the last 4 months--I've just been tweaking menus and replacing some of the assets with newer encodes.
Yesterday when I attempted to preview I got the message "this wav file could not be read." There are 35 .wav files in the project. This morning I did a "save as" on the project and systematically removed the wav files from the timelines two at a time until I found what was causing the problem (naturally it was the very last one). This was not a wav file that had been replaced in recent months, it has been in the project from the beginning
Then I opened the original project and deleted only that .wav file from the timeline and the project previewed fine. So I deleted the .wav file from the project and then imported the same .wav file again, placed it in the timeline and the project works fine.
Can someone tell me what would cause this behavior? Is there some sort of corruption in the asset and I'm going to have the same problem again? Or is it more likely some corruption in the project, and if so what could it be or what should I do about it?

I have just replaced all WAV files in the project with ac3 files("reaplace asset" command).
Still, when building DVD, god damned Encore CS4 mumbles "this WAV file could not be read."
    WTF?
I looked through several topics on the Adobe forums where people ask the same question. There is no one a single answer! So, I'm back to Sonic Scenarist!
No time for "dancing with a tambourine," around a blunt Adobe.
And by the way, when Encore telling "This wav file could not be read" -- WHY it's not telling me WHICH ONE file? Do I have to guess or ask a fortune-teller?

  • FLV File does not play when published to my web server

Hi. I have created a short video in VC3 and selected the FLV option to create a web page. When I uploaded the entire file content to my web server (windows 2003 server hosted at Network Solutions) the FLV file will not play. Now... if I do the same with a WMV tile, the video plays.
You can view the file at

    Hi again
You should probably double-check to ensure the standard.js file was also copied in when the HTML page was imported. It should be there but it never hurts to double check.
You might also perform a double-check to ensure things ended up in the correct folder (if you are organizing your project into folders). It could be that you moved the HTML page into a different folder and orphaned the JavaScript file.

  • Some of my songs on itunes are not playing correctly...

i moved all my music files to my external hardrive, and they were working just fine. but for the last month, some random songs are not playing correctly!! they sound like how a scratched cd sounds (skipping, etc..., and then it just stops and it skips to the next song). the songs were playing perfectly before, it was all of a sudden, and not all, just some of them.)Also, the same songs that are not playing can not be transfered to my ipod... (tear)
    PLEASE HELP!
    (I have itunes 6)

Well, several people have now replied to this post, but if you mean Apple, the answer is "no". This is a user support forum, and Apple do not provide product support through it.
If you want to report a problem with something you have purchased, open the iTunes Store and login to your account. On the home page at the very bottom of the screen, you will see a link that says "Purchase History". Click this, and click the "Report a Problem" button and follow the instructions.

  • Clips on time line are not playing at right time.

I dragged my movie clips and photos onto my timeline, but when I play the movie back the clips and photos are not playing at the time they are placed on the timeline. What do I do? Thanks.

    Hi
TimeLine in iMovie - any version - doesn't behave as in other video editors as FCE/P or Premiere.
Here each new video-clip or photo snapps to the one to it's left. One can't fix them in Time else putting in "Dummy" clips in between.
If they still don't playback in a continous way - there can be several problems
    • free space on Start-up hard disk low - I never go under 25Gb free space
(free space on other second/external hard disks - doesn't matter)
    • iMovie pref file might have been corrupted - close iMovie, trash it and re-start iMovie
    • Use of strange video and photo and audio file format might also do this - iMovie HD6 wants
video - streamingDV as from miniDV tape Camera via FireWire
    photos - .jpg and .png
audio - .aiff 48kHz 16-bit (or from Audio-CD) - NO .mp3 or direct from iTunes
