Client to unzip tar.gz file on remote webserver

I'm not sure if this is the right place to post my question - sorry.
I was wondering if there is a mac client program to assist in unzipping a tar.gz file on a remote web server.
I know that it can be done using putty, but was hoping that there might be a "cleaner and more usable" solution.
TIA
-jP

Mac has a build-in unzipper.
Just double-click the file.
In case itt does not expand, select the file and type Cmd-I.
Then at +Open with,+ navigate to:
/System/Library/CoreServices/
and choose BOMArchiveHelper
Click +Always open with this application+.

  • Read and List the Files from Remote Webserver Path

    Hi All,
    I have requirement where i need to Read and List the files from a Folder of Remote webserver path using JAVA.
    Remote webserver is within the network only...No Firewall and also Access is given to Read the folder. No Issues on this.
    Folder will just contain some PDF files...
    I just need to display the PDF file names available in the Folder..
    No need to read the PDF File...Only required to read the folder to list the file names in it.
    Looking forward some workaround to this.
    Thanks and Regards.

    I need to read the folder from a webserver path of different machine...
    File dir = new File( prop.getProperty("inputPath"));
    File[] files = dir.listFiles(fileFilter);
    final String match=siteName;
         final String type=reportType;
         Calendar c1 = Calendar.getInstance();
         c1.add(Calendar.MONTH, - Integer.parseInt(prop.getProperty("filterMonths"))); //Filters reportes generated in last X months (X picked from config file)
         final long filterDate = c1.getTime().getTime();
         FileFilter fileFilter = new FileFilter() {
         public boolean accept(File file) {
         long fileLastModiDate = file.lastModified();
         if((fileLastModiDate >= filterDate) && (file.getName().toLowerCase().startsWith(match)) && ( (type.equals("M") && file.getName().indexOf("WIP")==-1) || ((!type.equals("M") && file.getName().indexOf("WIP")!=-1)) ) ) {
              return true;
         }else {
              return false;
    Here it works fine if the input path is local machine..
    But i need to know how to give the input path as WEBSERVER PATH of different machine??

  • Finder not displaying all files in remote directory

    Sorry, this is a repost as I have gotten no response from my original request here: Finder not displaying all files in remote directory
    I've exported pictures from iPhoto on my iMac to a shared directory on my mac mini. When I access that directory from my iMac, I can see some but not all of the pictures. I know the pictures exported properly because I can see them all from the mac mini. I can open up a terminal window on my iMac and see all of the files; I can also open those files from the terminal.
    I'm running OSX 10.9.4 on both computers, with the mac mini also running OSX Server. I've placed a screen grab below from my iMac of what Finder sees vs what I can see from the terminal.
    Why isn't Finder displaying all of my files?

    thanks for responding
    Adding a new file to the shared folder results in me being able to see the new file from my clients regardless of where it was added from, however the "hidden" files do not suddenly pop up.
    I tried a few more experiments that had interesting results, but still didn't lead me to an answer.
    First I tried copying the files from the remote directory to a local directory; I did this in 2 different ways and had different results. Method A) I copied files from the mounted share to a local dir: "cp /Volumes/MyShare/dir/*.JPG .". Method B) I copied the files using secure copy: "scp user@server:/path/to/dir/*.JPG .".
    Method A resulted in Finder not being able to see the files in the local directory, while Method B did. This was interesting and lead me to suspect an issue with the way I am sharing the directory on the server. From Server settings I have both afp and smb checked. I tried enabling only one or the other and reconnecting; but this did not fix the problem.
    Next I tried exporting the photos from iPhoto again. Exporting them locally results in files that Finder can see. Exporting them to my server results the same bad behavior
    Getting desperate, I also tried renaming all of the files from "*.JPG" to "*.jpg" but this didn't help.
    One last experiment, I see the same behavior from both another Mac and a PC on my local network... FTP works fine.
    Any more ideas?

  • Cannot untar a tar zip file

    I'm initially a linux user, now trying to chnage to solaris server. I found a problem untaring a tar zip file. There is no command 'gzip' or 'gunzip' in my solaris server. And for the tar command, there is no option '-z'. So, how can I untar and unzip a tar zip file?

    Hi ,
    What Solaris Version you are using? On www.sunfreeware.com site, once you choose correct operating system version you may see all utilities on right side at bottom. There are some in pkgadd format.
    e.g gzip 1.2.4-sol26-sparc-local is in pkgadd format for Solaris 2.6.
    You will find similar files for Sparc/Intel for all vesions.
    Download same.
    #pkgadd -d gzip 1.2.4-sol26-sparc-local
    This will install all you needed. I hope this will help you.
    Thanks,

  • Unzip a zip file

    Can someone help me for the following problem,
    Iam downloading a zip file from the server to the client.i want to unzip and execute the .EXE file, which is inside the zip file through the java coding.can any one help me!
    thanking you

    I think you can do all of this using the Java runtime interface which allows you to execute command line commands via Java code (ie, launching an EXE).
    See http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.4.2/docs/api/java/lang/Runtime.html
    I don't believe there is a component of the Java API that allows you to unzip a zip file. But you could still accomplish this using the winzip command line support. See http://www.winzip.com/wzcline.htm in combination with the Java runtime.

  • BomArchiver not working anymore for tar.gz files

    I don't know what happened to my system, but I can't expand tar.gz files anymore using BomArchiver. The "Expand window" flashes half a second and disappears.
    I check all Permissions but no chance.
    Then i opened a terminal window pointing to the gzip file and discovered that, each time i try to unzip the file, a new invisible folder, name .BAHxxxx (where xxxx is a random number) containing an invalid file. Group for that folder is wheel with Read Only.
    Any help ?

    Yes, at the moment 14 people have read your message but evidently no one, including me, actually knows the nature of the problem, let alone a solution. If you have Console (it is in your Utilities folder) running in the background, does it show an error message when the failure occurs?

  • Browsing file at remote host

    Does anyone know how to browse file at remote host ?
    Its features are similar with windows explorer.
    I've found JTreeTable article written by Philip Milne which
    is like windows explorer, but how to make it has
    capability browsing file at remote host ?
    Any idea, what steps I have to do ?

    You need a program running on the remote host that can collect the directory structure and return it to the client. If you are using java at both ends, then this is a pretty straight-forward process. If you use cgi, it is a little more complicated, but not at all difficult.

  • How to read file from remote machine

    Hello,
    Hi, i would like to know how to read text file from remote machine using java source code, any code ?
    Thanks very much;
    Best regards
    Kim

    On the server, perform the following steps:
    Parse the request and determine the file to serve
    Open a FileInputStream to the appropriate file
    Obtain a reference to the Servlet OutputStream
    Pipe the bytes from the file to the output stream
    Flush and close the streamYou might want to call HttpServletResponse.setContentType("application/octet") to indicate to the browser that a file download will be occurring. Do so before getting the reference to the Servlet's OutputStream.

  • HOw to delete files from remote server?

    Hi,
    I want to delete files from a directory on remote server.
    I use the following command to delete on current server:
    find $srcdir -mtime +90 -name "COR*.txt" -exec rm -f {} \;
    Now, how can I delete files from remote server ?
    Thanks!
    Yogini

    Some possible options:
    1. There exists SSH implementation for Windows.
    2. You can make a workaround. You can setup share for specific/wanted directory.
    Then you can mount it on Linux machine and execute command localy and delete files "localy" in mounted directory.
    3. You can setup FTP server on Windows machine and do that remotely via FTP commands.

  • Unable to generate WebService Client with Exported (BAPI) WSDL file from XI

    Hi there,
    I, trying to setup a simple Web Service environment where I'll be exposing a BAPI as Web Service via XI.
    So these are the steps I followed:
    <b>1)</b> first I imported the BAPI meta data into my SWC in the repository. <b>2)</b> Second I defined my interrface etc.. <b>3)</b> Third I exported the generated BAPI WSDL file. <b>4)</b> Fourth, I tried to generate a Java proxy/client for my Web Service using a Java IDE (IBM WebSphere Application Developer and XML Spy).
    Now the problem is that Im not able to generate the Web Service client using the exported WSDL file, the WSDL seems not to be valid...From the generated errors in the IDE, I can see that the problem has to do somewhere/somehow with the WSDL Binding element, which input parameters do not match the input parameters of the port type.
    This is a small part of the WSDL file as generated by XI:
         <wsdl:message name="BAPI_AR_ACC_GETOPENITEMS.Input">
              <wsdl:part name="parameters" element="s0:BAPI_AR_ACC_GETOPENITEMS" xmlns:wsdl="http://schemas.xmlsoap.org/wsdl/"/>
         </wsdl:message>
         <wsdl:message name="BAPI_AR_ACC_GETOPENITEMS.Output">
              <wsdl:part name="parameters" element="s0:BAPI_AR_ACC_GETOPENITEMS.Response" xmlns:wsdl="http://schemas.xmlsoap.org/wsdl/"/>
         </wsdl:message>
         <wsdl:portType name="BAPI_AR_ACC_GETOPENITEMS.PortType">
              <wsdl:operation name="BAPI_AR_ACC_GETOPENITEMS">
                   <wsdl:input message="s0:BAPI_AR_ACC_GETOPENITEMS.Input"/>
                   <wsdl:output message="s0:BAPI_AR_ACC_GETOPENITEMS.Output"/>
              </wsdl:operation>
         </wsdl:portType>
         <wsdl:binding name="BAPI_AR_ACC_GETOPENITEMS.SAPBinding" type="s0:BAPI_AR_ACC_GETOPENITEMS.PortType" xmlns:wsdl="http://schemas.xmlsoap.org/wsdl/">
              <s0:binding style="rfc"/>
    Has anyone faced a situation like this before? Any clues where to look? I appreciate any feedback, thanks!

    Hi Rob!
    I'm facing the same problem - how did you solve your issue then? I'm getting following error during generation on .NET side:

    Error: There was an error processing 'http://server/wsdl/MIAMI_ACCDOCPost.wsdl'.

    The error message from each known type may help you fix the problem:
    - Report from 'DISCO Document' is 'Discovery document at the URL http://server/wsdl/MIAMI_ACCDOCPost.wsdl could not be found.'.
      - The document format is not recognized (the content type is 'content/unknown').
    - Report from 'WSDL Document' is 'There is an error in XML document (2, 70138).'.

  • Hi I am looking for a way to have trace32 open multiple files on remote computers

    Simply put I am looking for someone who could afford to give me a basic script (vbs) that I could run from an elevated command prompt. It would need to be available for me to type in the name of a remote computer or (mulitple if possible) and also
    allow me to choose log files to open or multiple files and then open them using trace 32. Hopefully it would detect the available log files and show me what is available to choose to open... anyone know of such a thing or know how to go about setting up something
    like this for people to use?
    EDIT
    I was able to create a basic script to do what I wanted but I want to be able to add wildcards for the rollover logs... Can someone suggest the easiest way to do that as I am not sure how to add the wildcards directly before the .log
    here is the script.
    ' ******Created by Luis Delgado*********
    'This script will get a remote computers .log files depending on which documents you enter in the "files to open on remote computer using trace32" section
    'Get and open log files on remote Computer
    on error resume next
    Set WshShell = Wscript.CreateObject("Wscript.Shell")
    strcomputer   = inputbox("Enter remote computer name or leave as localhost for this computer","Get log files from a remote computer with Trace32","Localhost")
    If strComputer = "" Then
      WScript.Quit
    End If
    'Opens trace32
    wshShell.run "C:\Program Files\ConfigMgr 2007 Toolkit\CCM Tools\Trace32.exe"
    'Files to open on remote computer using trace32
    wshShell.Run "\\" & strcomputer & "\c$\Windows\System32\CCM\Logs\datatransferservice.log"
    wshShell.Run "\\" & strcomputer & "\c$\Windows\System32\CCM\Logs\ccmexec.log"
    wshShell.Run "\\" & strcomputer & "\c$\Windows\System32\CCM\Logs\locationservices.log"
    !!!!NOTE!!!
    What I need is for any file that starts with datatransferservices, ccmexec, or locationservices to open in trace32
    my thought would be place a wild card in its respective spots but it does not work see below
    wshShell.Run "\\" & strcomputer & "\c$\Windows\System32\CCM\Logs\datatransferservice*.log"
    wshShell.Run "\\" & strcomputer & "\c$\Windows\System32\CCM\Logs\ccmexec*.log"
    wshShell.Run "\\" & strcomputer & "\c$\Windows\System32\CCM\Logs\locationservices*.log"

    The roll over logs all have the same name exact the extension is .lo_ , So.. I'm not sure what you are looking for.
