  • Enable Design Browser Client (HTTP 404)

I've completed the design time and runtime installs for OWB, however, when I try to enable warehouse builder design browser client (section 2.4 of the OWB9.2InstallGuide docs) I get the initial screen from HTTP Server listing the following:
    Apache Documentation
    JServ Documentation
    Demo
    Oracle JSP Documentation
    Demos
    SOAP Release Notes and Documentation
    Mod_SSL Web Site
    OpenSSL
    FastCGI Developer's Kit Documentation
    mod_perl Web Site
    Mod_plsql Configuration Menu
    BC4J Documentation and Samples
    XML Developers Kit XDK Documentation
    Mod_OSE Documentation
When I select "mod_plsql Configuration Menu" I get a HTTP 404 error. Seems like it should be a simple config change, but I'm not sure what that would be. Anyone run into this. Any help would be appreciated.
    TIA

    Hi Mahesh,
I'm guessing your port is 7778 (you can find that in the file: <Oracle_home_DB>\Apache\Apache\conf\httpd.conf. Look for "Port 777" using Find in the file).
Take a look at the configuration guide for OWB for more details but these are the highlights:
The first thing to do is going to http://locahost:7778
There you you click the MOD PL/SQL entry. Create a Database Access Descriptor, use the same name for this as the OWB Design repository schema.
Then start the OC4J and launch the design browser from the programs owb entry.
    That should work.
For the Runtime browser there is no need to create a dad, just start the OC4J and use the menu entry.
    Hope this helps,

  • Design Browser Client

    Hi,
We have started installing OWB at our site and I managed to install Design & runtime repos. I am trying to enable the Design browser client. But hitting problems.
While installing Design repos, I have not mentioned any Port number. We have Oracle 9.2 database running on Windows 2000.
My HTTP Server is running and so OC4J.
When I give this, http://localhost:7778:owb_mahesh/, it does nothing. while I replace 7778 with 7777 it immediately comes out with an error. I tried 7779 and i get the same error.
When I initiate Browser from OWB Program menu, it tries to open the browser client with address - http://127.0.0.1:8999/owbb/DBLogin.uix.
    Any guidence is really helpful.
    Many Thanks

  • Applet does not get client certificate from browser (Firefox, IE7)

I'm writing a web service which runs Tomcat through Apache. One critical requirement is that the service be able to invoke certain device drivers on the end user's machine. Fortunately, there is a Java API for this, so this requirement can be fulfilled using an applet.
Here's the problem. This is a B2B application, so we're using SSL and requiring client authentication. I'm no web security guru, but I managed to get SSL set up through Apache (with a self-signed certificate for now; we'll get a real one from a real CA when we're ready to go to production). I also managed to set up client authentication by creating my own CA and generating a client certificate, which I then copied to my test client (Win XPSP2) and imported into both Firefox (2.0.0.15) and IE (6.0.2900). The applet is signed with a real certificate, and that causes no problems. And all of the pages for my web service work as expected.
All except one. The page which is supposed to load the applet pops a dialog stating 'Identification required. Please select certificate to be used for authentication', and presents a list of zero certificates.
Actually, I get this dialog in Firefox on my XPSP2 box, and also when I test on a Vista Home Premium box running IE 7.0.6000. Puzzlingly, this behavior does NOT occur on my XPSP2 box when running through IE 6.0. It seems that with XPSP2 and IE 6.0, the JVM can manage to obtain the required client certificate from the browser and pass it along to Apache, but the JVM can't do this when running in Firefox or in IE 7.0 on Vista.
I have gone to the Java Control Panel and verified that the 'Use certificates and keys in browser keystore' option is selected on both boxes.
I've done a fair amount of research for this (including in this forum) and see that this appears to be a chronic difficulty with applets. What makes it worse is that I don't think I can use the standard workaround, which is to download the applet from a different host/virtual host, because the applet needs to communicate with the web service. Since we have the additional layer of Tomcat container-managed user authentication, the applet needs to be communicating with the server using the same session token as everything else.
So at this point, I'm stuck. Does anyone know a solution to this problem? Two thoughts (I'm reaching at straws here):
    1) I have the certificate imported in both Firefox and IE as a 'personal' certificate. Is there someplace else I can put it so the JVM will know how to find it? A rather old thread in this forum mentioned something about setting properties in the Java Control Panel, but I see no place in the JCP to specify such properties, so I'm guessing that solution is no longer operative.
    2) I'm using a trick I found on the internet to make the applet load cleanly with both Firefox and IE, namely, I'm using the <OBJECT> tag to specify the applet class and codebase for IE, and then using <COMMENT><EMBED ... /></COMMENT> within the <OBJECT> declaration to specify the information for Firefox. Is there some other way of doing the markup that will give the JVM a hint that it should get a certificate from the browser?
BTW . . . I would hate to drop support for Firefox, but if someone has an IE-only solution, I'll take it. Unfortunately, I reckon a Firefox-only solution would not fly.
    Thanks all.

My applet is also signed by a valid certificate. The question of whether the applet is signed/self-signed/unsigned >isn't an issue --- I just wanted you to make sure the Applet runs because it is a know valid Java2 Applet that is 100% signed properly and verified to run.
This eliminates the possibility that it is a JVM issue. However after reading your message further I am afraid
it is not relevant to your issue.
due to the client authentication, my browser (Firefox, IE7) refuses to even download the applet.
I went to your site, and I can see your applet in both Firefox and IE6. However, I don't believe your site is set up >quite like mine, because it appears I can run your applet whether I have imported your X509 certificate or not. What I >did was:If that is true we are all dead :) No I think you just missed the cert in the IE databse. It doesn't have to be in the
    Applet database to function. Surprise!
Check your IE/tools/internet options/content tab/certificates/trusted root certification authorities.
I then opened the Java control panel and verified that the certificate isn't listed there, either. So unless the certificate >is being cached/read from some other location (which could be, this certificate stuff is largely black magic to me), >then your server isn't requiring client authentication, either accidentally or by design. No HyperView is a valid java2 Applet and actually writes to a file "hyperview.dat" though it is probably empty.
If you click on a component in the view and then on the view and type "dumpgobs" it shoud write out some data about the current graphics objects so you can see it has complete read/write access..
Further it opens up a complete NIO server ands starts listening for connections on a random port
(Echoed in your java console) You can connect to it with telnet and watch impressive ping messages all day :)
This all goes back to a few years BTW back before there was a plugin and there was only Netscape & IE.
There are actually 2 certificate databases and what loads where depends on which type of cert you are using. Now self signed or not doesn't matter but what does matter is the type of certificate. IE: is it RSA/DSA/Sha1
etc. The Netscape DB was a Berkley DB and MS used whatever they use. The Cert is a DSA/Sha1 cert
which I like the best ATM as it (X fingers it stays so) always has worked.
Sadly that tidbit doesn't help you either I am afraid.
What I'm trying to do is require client authentication through Apache by including the following markup in a virtual >host definition:
    SSLCACertificateFile D:/Certificates/ca.crt
    SSLVerifyClient require
SSLVerifyDepth 1You got me there I avoid markup at all costs and only code in C java and assembler :)
Now unless I am wrong I think you are saying that you want the Applet to push the certificate to the server
automatically and I don't think this happens. Least I have never heard of this happening from an Applet automatically.
On my client machine, I have a certificate which was generated using OpenSSL and the ca.crt file listed. Testing >shows that the server is requiring a certificate from the client, and the web browser is always providing it.
The problem is that when the browser fires up the Java plugin to run an applet, there is not sufficient communication >between the browser and the plugin so that the plugin can obtain the certificate from the browser and provide it to >the server.
So the server refuses to send the applet bytecode to the JVM, and we're stuck. In terms of implementation ease I think you may have the cart before the horse because I think it would be far easier to run an Applet in the first place to do the authentication, and then send, for example, a jar file to bootstrap and run
(or some classes) in the event the connection is valid. Then again one never knows it all and there may be some classes which enables the plugin as you wish. I have never heard of this being done with the plugin the way you suggest.
I am thinking maybe there is another method of doing this I do not know.
Did you try pushing the cert via JavaScript/LIveConnect?? That way it could run before the Applet and do the authentication.
Maybe someone else has other ideas; did you try the security forum??
Sorry but I am afraid that is not much help.
I did snarf this tidbit which may have some relevance
The current fix for this bug in Mantis and 1.4.1_02 is using JSSE API, Here are the step:
In Java control panel, Advanced tab -> Java Runtime Parameters, specify:
-Djavax.net.ssl.keyStore=<name and path to client keystore file>
-Djavax.net.ssl.keyStorePassword=<password to access this client keystore file>
If it is a PKCS12 format keystore, specify:
    -Djavax.net.ssl.keyStoreType=PKCS12
In our future JRE release 1.5, we will create our own client authentication keystore file for JPI and use that for client authentication, for detail info, please see RFE 4797512.

  • FRM-92160: Web Client version too old

    Hi folks,
i have been developing and running my forms using Oracle 9iDS and the Oracle 9i database. The forms are run in the browser using the version of OC4J that comes with the developer suite.
i installed Oracle 10g Application server forms and reports services recently, however i have decided not to run my forms through the application server as yet.
when i tried to run running a form, i had an error message saying
FRM-92160: Web Client version too old.
I tried looking up the error but couldn't find it anywhere.
I can't run my forms now and i do not want to go through the application server as yet.
Any suggestions as to what to do?
    Thanks in advance.

I run into the same problem after upgrading my AS10g/W2k to 904011: Forms from the MiddleTier did run, but a Forms started from the DevSuite-environment would raise FRM-92160.
What worked in my case was copying the MidTier's '...\forms90\java' files over to the DevSuite, ie.
    - backup [DevSuite_Home]\forms90\java to java0
    - copy [MidTier_Home]\forms90\java to [DevSuite_Home]
After that, my Forms run flawlessly from both DevSuite's OC4J and the AS MidTier. I also 'upgraded' formsweb.cfg in [DevSuite_Home] from JInit 1.3.1.17 to 1.3.1.18 - works.
    Cheers

  • Error (access denied) when starting Client Runtime Audit Browser

    LS,
After starting the OC4J instance, I try to start the Client Runtime Audit Browser. For a brief moment I see a DOS-box, then an IE-page appears saying the following:
    ======================================================
    ERROR
The requested URL could not be retrieved
While trying to retrieve the URL: http://127.0.0.1:8999/owbb/RABLogin.uix
    The following error was encountered:
    Access Denied.
Access control configuration prevents your request from being allowed at this time. Please contact your service provider if you feel this is incorrect.
    ======================================================
Any idea whether this is a local problem?
I've tried applying the settings as mentioned in the configuration guide, but the Bypass option for the proxy is impossible to set since we do not use a proxy server.
    Your thoughts?
    Regards, Patrick

    Good morning All,
Maybe I've got the wrong idea of what is all needed to be able to run the RAB locally, but I thought that starting the OC4J instance would be sufficient to get started.
In the Installation and Configuration Guide the following is mentioned:
2.7 Step 6. Configure the Web Browser for Design and Runtime Audit Browsers
2.7.1 Add "LOCALHOST" to Your Web Browser Proxy Server Bypass List
2.7.2 Configure the Cache Management in Your Web Browser
2.7.3 Configure Warehouse Builder with a Net Service Name
    As said before:
@2.7.1, we do not use a proxy (according to Internet Explorer settings) therefore I can't add 'localhost' to the bypass-list, but then again I think that it does not need to be, since there is nothing to be bypassed in the first place.
    2.7.2 has been implemented.
@2.7.3, I added the net service name manually to TNSNAMES.ORA (since I also needed that to be able to get on to the database using TOAD and SQL*Plus).
We do not have 9iAS integration for RAB, nor do we have OEM integration.
Are there other things that need to be implemented? Mentioned so far have been HTTP-server and RTP services, but paragraph 2.7 does not mention anything about this. Maybe there are certain services that need to be running on the server (like HTTP and/or RTP), even though I would like to run the RAB locally?
Where does one actually need RTP for?
    Thanks in advance.
    Cheers, Patrick

  • Network becomes limited or unavailable as soon as i connect to cisco anyconnect secure mobility client, version - 3.1.05170

    Hiee,
I am using cisco anyconnect secure mobility client, version - 3.1.05170 , in my windows 8.1 PC to access vpn to my office desktop. But as soon as i connect cisco anyconnect client, my wifi networks becomes limited or unavailable. Thus, i am not able to get remote access to my office desktop. And not even able to access any other websites also. But as soon as i disconnect from the cisco anyconnect vpn client, every thing becomes normal, and the exclamation mark from the network icon also disappears.
kindly help me in this regard.
    Thanks and regards
    Neeraj

There are a few things to consider here:
    - The IPSec VPN client is EoL, so even if we consider this as a bug, it wouldn't be fixed
    - fixing the file server access would break the DHCP renew which means there is no completely clean way to fix this, at least not at the IP level since the client can't route to the same destination using 2 different paths.
Is there any chance we could do a static policy NAT for the DHCP traffic so it appears to come from another IP? It's twisted and it may not work (the client might use the DHCP server IP embedded inside the payload and not the source IP) but if it does, then we'd fix the overlap.
Could the server use another IP address for the DHCP service (much like using a loopback for a certain service on a router?)
A third solution would be to NAT the destination server IP on the ASA for traffic from the IP pool going to the server. We'd need DNS doctoring as well to resolve the server's name to the NATted IP. This way the server would appear from the VPN client as being at a different IP, thereby fixing the overlap.
All these potential solutions are quite involved... you may be better off wityh a simpler design: splitting of your server into 2 or using something else to do DHCP for the VPN clients.

  • OWB Design Browser reports Unexpected Error

    Hi,
I am trying OWB904 demo on OracleDB 9.2.0.2 and I have problem with OWB Design Browser. I can view all the reports but seems that I can not see any Diagrams (Impact and/or Lineage) - every time I get error message:
    Unexpected Error
    Unexpected Error
The operation can not be performed at the present time. Please contact your administrator for assistance.
I already tried Refreshing Dependency Index (several times) and set the MS_IE Browser setting for "Check for newer versions of stored page" to "every visit to the page". Does not help - still getting "Unexpected Error".
Any hint what else to try ???

    Bojan,
There are two possibilities, both related to installation and set-up:
    1. Has XML Toolkit been installed in SYS schema? This XML Toolkit is needed for Lineage diagrams to show correctly.
Check under SYS schema, whether you have XMLDOM and XMLParser package. Other way to check this is to see whether you have any invalid state package or package body in your OWB repos schema(OWBB_LIA and LIA_CLIENT are related to lineage diagrams).
    2. Check two tables: lia_xml_table and lia_xml_table2 have existed in OWB repos schema or not. They are needed for diagrams. One reason they may not been created during installation is these tables contain CLOB columns, and Oracle has a limitation: According to the 9i documentation: You cannot store LOBs in AUTO segment-managed tablespaces.
    Mark.

  • The Dreamweaver client version does not match this version of the BrowserLab client

    Cannot use BrowserLab
I have followed the upgrade instructions on this page
    http://labs.adobe.com/downloads/browserlab.html
Deleted the MeerMeerDW folder, downloaded and installed the latest MXP files.
But when I try to use BrowserLab from Dreamweaver after program loads error message says
"The Dreamweaver client version does not match this version of the BrowserLab client.
Please download and install the latest version of the Dreamweaver MXPs"
I have tried several times, even tried removing the extensions from Extension Manager, quiting the program,
deleting the MeerMeerDW folder, restarting Extension Manager and reinstalling the MXPs, then starting Dreamweaver
and trying the Preview in Browser>Adobe BrowserLab. Same problem, program loads and then get error message.
    Macintosh OS 10.5.8
    Dreamweaver CS4
    Extension Manager CS4 (2.1.115)

    Hello toni7,
I'm sorry to hear you're having problems. Are you prompted to replace the existing extensions when performing the installation? The error message you are receiving when using the service is expected if the new versions of the extensions are not installed.
What is the version number of the extensions displayed in Extension Manager?
Are you deleting the MeerMeerDW folder in the user library prior to installing the new version of the extensions? And just to be sure, are you logged in as the same user? [(user)\Library\Application Support\Adobe\CS4ServiceManager\extensions\MeerMeerDW]
Do you have more than one MeerMeerDW folder at the path above?
Also, be sure that all adobe applications are closed before trying to install the new extensions. I would also make sure that CS4ServiceManager, Extension Manager and Dreamweaver are not running when you delete the MeerMeerDW folder and prior to installing the updated extensions. Go to Applications\Utilities\Activity Monitor and Quit Process on any of those three running prior to installing.
It's critical that the MeerMeerDW folder is manually deleted, rather than removed using Extension Manager before updating the extensions.
    Best regards,
    Corey

  • How to login Design Browser

I have Oracle 9i Server, OWB 9.2 Server and Client installed in my system ( Windows 2000 Professional ). Actually I want to login to Design Browser to view reports on design repository. So, for that I have created a DAD. While entering all the required information, its ask again for a user name and password. After entering three times it throws an error which is "Authorization Required
This server could not verify that you are authorized to access the document requested. Either you supplied the wrong credentials (e.g., bad password), or your browser doesn't understand how to supply the credentials required. Oracle HTTP Server Powered by Apache/1.3.22 Server at tcs044227.tcskolkata.co.in Port 7778". And I am unable to login.
Anybody can help me out in this matter.
    Thanks

    A little information about anti-virus/anti-spyware.
First rule in using anti-virus/anti-spyware applications/programs: Never have more than one in active/real-time/on-access state checking everything as your are on-line. One can interfere with the other and the result can be less rather than more protection. Check your settings in Spybot and AVG and be sure that only one is set up for active/real-time/on-access scanning. If you have questions about how to check, go to the forums for Spybot and AVG and ask for assistance.
Second rule. No single anti-virus/anti-spyware application is 100% correct, 100% of the time. Some virus-signatures can result in "false positives". However, using Google I found that Spybot and McAfee both added "PBHotbar.SearchAssistant" to their '''''<u>adware</u>''''' definitions on March 9, 2011. (See: https://computersavvy.wordpress.com/2011/03/09/new-spybot-%E2%80%93-search-destroy-definition-update-available-2011-03-09/ and http://www.nutnworks.com/forums/threads/33947-Re-McAfee-Updates ) There may be other firms that added a malware/virus definition for "PBHotbar.SearchAssistant" under another name. '''''<u>Adware</u>''''' is designed to track your on-line activities, in this case your search activity, for the purpose of delivery advertising on pages that you visit. Somewhat benign, but do you want someone silently tracking your internet activity? Your decision as to whether to keep that Add-on.

  • Client version of 9iFS?

    Hi,
Is 9ifs has any client version? Similar as oracle 8 client or Oracle 9 client. Thanks!
    Ken

No 9iFS does not have a client version, but with the latest release you don't need that. 9iFS has been converted into HTML (thin client) instead of Java (thick client) and can therefore run from any browser this is part of the latest 9iAS release.

do I need to purchase kozuka gothic pro light font, if I wish to use it for a clients logo-design?
    thanks for response

To clear up (what I saw as) a bit of confusion, if you're simply using the font to create the logo and sending it to your client in a non-editable format, they do not need to purchase the font.
Only if they plan to use the same font on future materials - or if you send them a live text version of the logo - do they need to make the purchase.

in ADSI. I removed the MP object in CN=System, CN=System Management. Waited for it to be regenerated automatically by SCCM but the installation doesn't work still.
I tried to install with several methods including directly from ccmsetup.exe in ccmsetup folder, pushing by sccm itself, running from commandline, ...
I run SCCM 2012 R2 on Windows Server 2008 R2 and the database on SQL 2008 on Server 2008 R2
