Clients hang problem using database operations

Hi there,
I am using Oracle 9i Release 2 (9.2.0.1.0) as a database and have 10g Developer Suite (9.0.4) for Windows ...
I am having strange problem with the clients like if one user runs my application it has no problem when more then 1 user tries to run the application after certain time period they get hang on any database operations like QUERY, INSERTION OR DELETION...one long cursor on status bar moves right and left constantly and nothing happens...can u tell me whats the problem and what are the settings which can make it better...i am on a very embarrasing state at this moment.
Plus i wud also want to know is 9i release 2 (9.2.0.1.0) version is stable? or should I move on to 10g relase 10.1 database alongwith my developer suite? ..thanks

Just because of this hanging you cannot assume that 9i is not stable.

Client hang when using enable radio management support

WLC version 5.0.148.0
When the client (mainly XP SP2) using IntelProSet connects to the wifi, the client hangs and requires power down. The radio management support has been enabled for sometime and the problem just happened from few weeks ago. No configuration change in WLC and the Wintel team says there was no patch installed.
If the radio management support is disabled, there is no hanging issue.
The clients should be mainly of CCXv2 or below.
Please help. Thanks in advance

"enabling radio management" means to check the "enable radio management support" option in the Intel ProSet client. All the settings here are talking about client side.
Not every client nor every Intel Client has problem.
I checked that the client hangs not because of "enable radio management support" but enable CCX (again on client side).
Anyway, one has to enable CCX in order to enable radio management support. Otherwise, the enable radio management support checkbox will be greyed out.
And for the client with problem, it comes with Intel wireless module but not the Dell one mentioned in http://www.cisco.com/web/partners/pr46/pr147/partners_pgm_partners_0900aecd800c1a1e.html
I don't know which CCX version it is. It is using latest Intel ProSet and driver version.
I do have some other Dell notebooks (totally different model, driver and Intel Proset version) using Intel wireless module and not suffer from the CCX issue. I think it is just naming issue in the CCX compatibility table, the wireless module is equivalent in some sense.

Statements hang when using fuzzy operator

Hi all,
Since we rolled out an update of our application, the database sessions seem to run into deadlocks. I would really apreciate any help!
perhaps this is a known issue?
In the old version we already used Oracle Text without problems.
The only change we applied in our SQL statements was to encapsulate the search term with {}.
Here is the relevant part:
AND contains(column, 'fuzzy({example})', 1, 100, WEIGHT)', 1) > 0
In the previous release we used this without problems:
AND contains (column, 'fuzzy(example)', 1, 100, WEIGHT)', 1) > 0
The whole statement is quite large, uses unions over several similar selects on different tables.
the hanging sessions have the message: Cursor: pin S wait on X.
What I saw from other posts, this seems to be a common thing for deadlock situations.
A second strange thing is that the sessions hang only when accessing certain tables. Similar statements that access other tables never hang.

Turkish Character Problem Using Database Link

Hi all,
I have a link created to a 10g XE database, from a 9i database. The link works fine for everything, but there is a problem with Turkish characters. Consider following query;
INSERT INTO xxer_char_deneme_brk@teta -- obviously teta is the link from 9i to 10g XE
SELECT urun_adi, --Atkı - CQS - 00 Beden
'ĞÜŞİÖÇI','ğüşiöçı',
URUN_UZUN_ACIKLAMA --%35 VİSKOZ %29 YÜN %20 POLYAMID %8 ANGORA %8 KAŞMİR
FROM xxer.xxer_stok --9i table
WHERE urun_adi LIKE '%Atk%';
In this query as you can see I insert two column values manually, and two from a table in my production database(9i). Also I show the correct values of columns as comments. When I run this query those columns are inserted to the remote database(10g XE) as 'Atki - CQS - 00 Beden' and '%35 VISKOZ %29 YÜN %20 POLYAMID %8 ANGORA %8 KASMIR', but the manual values are inserted without any conversion. As you can see only the values selected from the table change. For example İ is converted to I, Ş to S, Ğ to G and so on.
Now first I thought of NLS parameters, but both databases have Turkish language and territory settings. 9i runs on AIX 5.3, 10g runs on Windows server 2008.
Any help will be appreciated.

Local client Copy problem using sccl in ECC 6.0- Long time

Hi,
My system ecc6.0 and I am started the client copy form 000 client to 100 client
Now 25 passed but still the copy process not completed .
I am create the client 100 in 000
Then logged into 100
Then start the client copy usuing sccl in background
I am not run the test run
Please check the below logs and suggest.

Problem with using database link from oracle 7 to oracle 9i

Hi To Every One
I have two oracle database oracle 7.3.4.0.1 and oracle 9i 9.2.0.1.0.
and the tns alias to connect to oracle 9i database is oracle9i and tns
alias to oracle 7 database is oracle7.I have no problem in connect to
these database using these tns aliases from either database.The tns
alias for oracle 7 is available in tnsnames.ora file of oracle9i and
tns alias for oracle 9i is available in tnsnames.ora file of oracle 7.
So there is no connection problem from each other.Connection is
working fine for each other but the problem with database links is
like this
Problem:
when i create database link from oracle9i user or public database link
from oracle9i for oracle7 user like this
SQL ORACLE9I >CREATE DATABASE LINK ORACLE7 CONNECT TO <ORACLE7USER>

The links get created sucessfully but when i write command like

Oracle 9.2.0 does not support connectivity to Oracle 7. The newest version that will support this is 9.0.1.

Problem in JDBC , when using LIKE operator.
LINE 1 : String temp = "AA";
LINE 2 : String query = "select * from emp where EMPNAME like '*temp*' ";
LINE 3 : Staement st = con.createStaement();
LINE 4 : ResultSet rs = st.executeQuery(query);
'*' character is not getting evaluated. In MS ACCESS2000 only * is accepted instead of '%'. Moreover in MS ACCESS the like operator has to be used within double quotes as a String. whereas in other databases, it accepts single quotes as a String.
Ex:
In MS ACCESS
     select * from emp where ename like "*aa*";
Other Databases
     select * from emp where ename like '%aa%';
In my situation iam passing a Variable inside a like operator and '*' is used.
For the above Scenario, Please help me out.
If possible Kindly let me know the exact Syntax.

We have the following problem:
LabView (8.2) hangs when using I/O operations with traditional NI-DAQ 7.4.4 after aborting LabView program
We freshly installed LabView 8.2 (2006) and NI-DAQ 7.4.4 on a PC running Windows XP (Service Pack 3). We built a larger vi that remotely controls a traditional NI-DAQ card (AT-AO-10) on a second PC via NI-VISA 5.0.3. We were successfully running this program until a power failure caused the first computer to crash. After this crash we were unable to start the program again: LabView freezes while loading the vi. LabView itself can be started but freezes when adding I/O operations from the NI-DAQ palette to a block diagram.
We have tried to re-install NI-DAQ 7.4.4, but it did not help. We then re-installed all NI software, but still no improvement. In the end we decided to reinstall ALL software, first Windows XP, then LabView and finally NI-DAQ 7.4.4. This worked. However, after a few days of running the program we had to abort LabView via Windows Task manager and afterward we again experienced the same problem as before: LabView freezes when loading the program.
Obviously, we cannot afford to reinstall Windows every time. Are there any known Windows XP / NI-DAQ issues that might cause the freezing of LabView? We would be very grateful for any idea.

What kind of signals are your photons creating? Are they TTL compatible at a certain
frequency? You don’t care about overwriting

Problem using CORBA clients with RMI/EJB servers..!!!???

Hi,
I have a question on using EJB / or RMI servers with CORBA clients using
RMI-IIOP transport, which in theory should work, but in practice has few
glitches.
Basically, I have implemented a very simple server, StockTreader, which
looks up for a symbol and returns a 'Stock' object. In the first example, I
simplified the 'Stock' object to be a mere java.lang.String, so that lookup
would simply return the 'synbol'.
Then I have implemented the above, as an RMI-IIOP server (case 1) and a
CORBA server (case 2) with respective clients, and the pair of
client-servers work fine as long as they are CORBA-to-CORBA and RMI-to-RMI.
But the problem arises when I tried using the RMI server (via IIOP) with the
CORBA client, when the client tries to narrow the object ref obtained from
the naming service into the CORBA idl defined type (StockTrader) it ends up
with a class cast exception.
This is what I did to achieve the above results:
[1] Define an RMI interface StockTrader.java (extending java.rmi.Remote)
with the method,
public String lookup( String symbol) throws RMIException;
[2] Implement the StorckTrader interface (on a PortableRemoteObject derived
class, to make it IIOP compliant), and then the server to register the stock
trader with COS Naming service as follows:

The <obj> returned by naming service turns out to be of the type;

On the contrary... all that is being said is that we needed to provide clearer examples/documentation in the 5.1.0 release. There will be no difference between the product as found in the service pack and the product found in the 5.1.1. That is, the only substantive will be that 5.1.1 will also
include the examples.

As I said, you must separate the idl related classes (class files and
java
files) from the rmi classes... in the rmic step, you must set a newtarget
(as you did), emit the java files into that directory (it's not clearyou
did this), then remove all the rmi class files from the class path... ifyou
need to compile more classes at that point, copy the java files to theidl
directly is you must, but you can not share the types in any way.
I fear that as soon as the call to narrow succeeds, the remainingapplication will fail to work correctly because it is too difficult otuse
an idl client in java to work.

Using database views in ADF mobile client application

Hi,
I am using Jdeveloper 11.1.1.4 and WLS 10.3.4.
I have developed a POC in ADF mobile client application both with and without synchronization. However, both work with entity objects based on tables.
I need to use database views instead of tables. When I try to include entity object (based on views) in the view object, it shows an error saying "Only the entity objects based on tables can be selected"
Please guide me if there is a work around for this.
Also, please let me know if there is way to develop an ADF mobile client application skipping the use of entity objects at all and using view objects directly to specify the database query and fetch data from the database.

Currently, out of box, ADF Mobile Client does not support synchronization against Database Views. This is because Mobile Server imposes some schema restrictions to ensure synchronization with multi-table views would work correctly. This schema restriction requires, for example, the view must have a primary parent table with key defined, and also all base table must be included in the data publication. These dependencies requires manual resolution and advanced planning, and is managed outside of the ADF Mobile Client/JDeveloper project.
To continue development, you would need to create server Entity Objects directly against the base tables. You can then create the mobile ADF Business Component (EOs, VOs, etc). You can then create View Objects in your ADF Mobile Client application based on the database views, in order to retrieve the data you need exactly. In other words, instead of basing EO on the database view, create View Objects in the mobile applicaiton to mimic what you had in the View Object.
Is there any other reason why you would need to access data via database views, instead of directly against base tables?

I believe that our “Werbung problem” adds an additional second hyperlink to the pop-up window. This second link is activated whenever you trigger a saved hyperlink to a Mail.com site.
I had the same problem and eliminated it by deleting all bookmarks, hyperlinks and automatic links that take firefox to a mail.com address. So I just deleted all bookmarks I had saved for mail.com. I also changed my home page link because it also went to my email at mail.com. I then did a warm boot, opened firefox and re-saved my bookmarks and homepage to the desired addresses. Good luck.

Problem when using About Operator in Contains Query

I'm new to Oracle and this forums too. I have a problem when using about operator in contains query.
I create a table with some records and then create a context index on 'name' column.

Problem using the File Dialog Box in a Client/Server application

I am developping a client-server application using Labview 5.1 . The application on the server acquires data from some instruments and saves it on file, while the application on the clients displayes such acquired data. For doing this I call some routines on the server via the "Open Application vi" (remote connection). All goes well except when I open on the server the "File Dialog Box vi" : in this case the application on the clients is blocked (is blocked the execution of the called vi on the server). Only when
the File Dialog Box on the server is closed, the execution of the called vi on the server starts again.
I need to use the File Dialog Box on the server, but I don' t want to stop at the same time
the clients !!
I need help for resolving such problem.

Are you sure? I think, that File Dialog, called by LabVIEW File Dialog from Advanced File Functions Palette doesn't blocking any cycles in subVI, which running in UI Thread. Look in my old example (that was prepared for other topic, but may be good for this topic too).

I think, you must a little bit reorganize you application for to do this. You must put your File Dialog into separated cycle. This cycle, of course, will be blocked when File Dialog appear on the screen. But other cy
cle, which responsible for visualization will run continuosly at the same time...

Problem using Enterprise Manager 11g Database Control in Firefox 3.6.6

Hello all,
I just intalled Oracle 11g and trying to familiarize myself with Enterprise Manager 11g Dataabse Control using Firefox 3.6.6 in Windows XP.
I'm able to login to Enterprise manager successfully.
However, when I click on on "Performance Tab", the "SYSTEM_MOVING_WINDOW" is empty, and there's a prompt "Click Here to Download Plugin."
When I do click on it, I get message:
No suitable plugins were found.
Unknown plugin (application/octet-stream) [Manual Install].
I'm not sure what plugin I need so I can use Enterprise Manager properly.

I use the Opera browser so I can split the screen to monitor multiple instances at the same time on my 2nd monitor. I am not having issues with the 10g OEM but having the same problem listed in this thread with the 11g OEM ( we have both running during our migration to 11g). The posts here didn't help me with the 11g OEM as there must be some difference from 10g OEM. I will hate it if I can't do the split screen to monitor multiple instances at the same time. And if you are connecting via solaris or lunix browser then IE is not an option ( W3C standards please ).

Using older client 10201 with 11g database

Hello,
Are there any issues with using sqlplus client 10201 with 11g database with regard to performance? I would think using the 11g client with 11g database would be preferred but what would be the disadvantage in using sqlplus 10201 with 11g database?
Also, what would be disadvantage if using sqlplus 11g with an older database 10201/10202? Thank you.

I guess the most visible and the prominent issue of using an old version client with the more latest version db would be that the older version client won't be able to display/use some of the newest features. This sounds more like a usability issue than performance issue which you mentioned but that's what which came on top of the mind. Performance should not be affected as the client doesn' do much except to pull the data so if there would be any issues actualy , they would be with the server rather than the client.
