CLOB problem (disregard my former message relating to Forms 6i)
Hallo,
I have a problem using CLOB's with JDeveloper 3.1. We have an Oracle DB (8.1.5 on a Unix server) where one of the tables has a CLOB column. We also created a view where we join several fields from three tables. One of the fields is the CLOB field. Now using JDeveloper 3.1 with BC4J we designed a simple user interface that accesses this view. So far everything works fine but if we edit the CLOB field of the record and and want to save the modification we either get Error Message JBO-25014: Another user has changed the row with primary key oracle.jbo.Key (although it is sure that no other user changed this record). The other Error Message that we get is JBO-25009: Unable to create object ... with value (and then it just prints the whole content of the CLOB field).
Any ideas what is wrong? We have a bit a problem with the CLOB's because we also cannot produce a working GUI with Forms 6i, alltough Forms has another kind of problem with CLOB's. I slowly start to wonder if the CLOB's have been introduced with the intent that nobody should use them .... :)

I've got the same problem, and if you press the save button two or three times it will work. (the first time it always gives error)
IF this is your problem (it was what happened with my programs, but I use 8iR2) you could done something like (*arrg*) this:

It's suprising that is working for me.

in the bottom of the screen in the default toolbar or taskbar , Now my requirement is to display such messages in the Center of the screen in the form of Alerts. What is the way of doing this. Please tell me step-by-procedure.

Problem with transfering unicode form data in MULTIPART/FORM-DATA

I have this web based multilingual application. Page 1(form6.jsp) is basic registeration form with 5 fields and one image upload to the server. Page 2(verify.jsp) is another jsp page for verification of UTF data entered in page 1.
page 2 (verify.jsp) also uses a bean called (verify.java) for picking up values. page 3(insertEntry.jsp) is the page for inserting that data into the Database and uses a bean called (logicbean.java).
Now, the problem im facing here is that if i use multipart/form-data, the unicode text filled in page1 is shown as garbage when its is transfered to page2 and displayed on page2. It is all gibberish. But if i do not use multipart/form-data, the unicode text transfered from page1 to page2 is displayed perfectly on page2.Im using devenagari(UTF) language for filling in details.

I have narrowed down the problem to the point where i understand that the "request.getParameter()" function for multipart is not able to understand or read UTF data properly. The out.println prints garbage from this function on the console. im using WAS

The form was created 10 or 11 months ago, and we are pretty sure that we were able to open it a while back
The same PDF file opens just fine in Windows 8.1 using Adober Reader XI 11,0.06, it is only the app that is affected.
The document cannot be opened by any other mobile app that we have tried or on another mobile OS (iOS)
Any ideas?

JimThe user's assertion is surprising to me, but perhaps I'm missing something important. I thought the correct position was from the conclusion of my earlier post "it can't be done". Adobe state their Reader Touch doesn't support XFA (http://blogs.adobe.com/readermobile/2012/12/13/adobe-reader-for-windows-8-tablets/). Unless (see that blog entry) you changed the type of form.

UNIX: problem running an DEV & QA environment using form/report servlets
I am trying to setup on one server an DEV and QA environment using the Forms Servlet, Forms Listener Servlet and Report Servlet.
I think I have the Forms Servlet and Forms Listener Servlet running properly. The problem is setting up the DEV and QA environment for running reports.
For example, when in DEV environment I would like to run a report from a directory specified in the REPORTS60_PATH. This doesn't seem possible.
It might be easier if I describe my configuration first:
DEV: run all forms and reports from the directory /data/release/dev
QA: run all forms and reports from the directory /data/release/qa

Custom Env files since we are using Developer 6i Patch 7
dev.env and qa.env
Here I specify FORMS60_PATH and REPORTS60_PATH,
eg: DEV -> FORMS60_PATH=/data/release/dev
REPORTS60_PATH=/data/release/dev
likewise for QA ../qa
In the formsweb.cfg file i have something like:

form=test.fmx
[qa]
serverURL=/servlet/fl60dev
form=test2.fmx
I have tested the following and they work without problems:
1. forms listener test page, eg: http://webserver:7777/servlet/fl60dev
2. running forms from the 2 environments
eg: http://webserver:7777/servlet/f60servlet?config=dev
this runs the form in the FORMS60_PATH (/data/release/dev)
Now my problems start with Reports.
When I run a report from forms (using run_report_object) it will not run any reports
as specified in the REPORTS60_PATH
Even using this url:
http://webserver:7777/servlet/RWServlet?server=rep60&report=test.rdf&destype=cache&desformat=html&
userid=scott/tiger@test9i
It NEVER seems to pickup and use the REPORTS60_PATH. I have tried nearly everything.
I have gone throught the instructions in "Integrating Oracle9iAS Reports in Oracle9iAS Forms -
White Paper"

and Forms6i Patch 7: Oracle Forms Listner Servlet for Deployment of FOrms on the Internet

plus any other documents in metalink relating to forms, or report servlets. I am
totally confused, please help.
I have tried setting the REPORTS60_PATH in the following files without success:
custom.env (as specified by initArgs=EnvFile in zone.properties)
jserv.properties
in the zone.properties I have tried to set a custom env file for the report servlet:
servlet.RWServlet.code=oracle.reports.rwcgi.RWServlet
servlet.RWServlet.initArgs=EnvFile=/u01/app/oracle/product/ias/6iserver/forms60/server/dev_rep.env
NO LUCK.
The only place that I can set the REPORTS60_PATH
is in "[6iserver home]/reports60_server" file when I start the reports server (did I even
get this right - I do have to have a reports server running don't I?)
Does this meaan I have to run multiple report servers for each of my environments?
Based on all the documentation I thought that REPORTS60_PATH as specified in the files relating
to the forms servlet would be the place to specify the path.
As you will understand I am getting really fustrated with this and it seems to
me that the reports servlet configuration in 6i is really half baked and since 9i
is coming out it will never be fixed.I am even not able to run forms servlets from two different forms60_path, Is there any configuration do you make other than what you have mentioned in this post.
I already open a TAR in this regard, I am still waiting reply from ORACLE.

Major problem using Nokia Test Message Editor
Using Nokia Test Message Editor on PC Suite 6.83 to create a new message (via USB cable), when I click on create new message (works fine) and then when I click on the "To" button, it says error. It asks me to close program as it has performed an illegal operation. Whys that? The only way I can currently get it to work is by manually entering the phone number but just cant use teh To button.

I tried to Repair PC Suite from the Unistaller, same error.
Then I uninstalled PC Suite, restarted, ran PC Suite Cleaner 3.5 to get rid of registry settings and files. Then I noticed some old data in Application Data\PC Suite (old IMEIs) which I all deleted, then I restarted again and installed the newest PC Suite back. It asked me to install MMSync onto my phone, which I did. (see separate bug report on that
Then it gave me a message that some "Old Contact Browser data was found and has been moved to a separate folder", which I think is somehow related to the Contacts bug which I had described for a previuos PCS version, under my old nick "zak1974". Feeling good and all hopeful at last, I launched the Contact browser and it got all contacts with no problem, I went to Messages - Inbox. Clicked on Create New Message button, then "To" - only to find the same bug, which I am perfectly able to reproduce and describe on any level reaqired, as I have saved all screenshots and messages on the way to the Text Message Editor crash. All the above gives me some right to declare a software/firmware bug with the versions of products I had described in my first post.
Any other ideas?

Problem Hosting an ActiveX which starts VB6 Forms in WPF
We need to “host” an older application written in VB6 into a WPF Shell. We need to make sure that this app is part of the new WPF shell.
The older app consists of:
1) ActiveX component that shows a grid with data and some buttons;
2) By selecting a record and double clicking a record a Modeless VB6 form is opened. This form is implemented in an in process vb6 app;
From these modeless form, other modeless forms and modal forms can be started by the user.
Showing these modeless forms that are implemented in the “in process” windowless ActiveX components gives us problems. We have tried out two options to get around the problems. But so far no success.
We have explored two options:
1) Host ActiveX component directly in WPF, which gives us problems with modeless forms and ‘tabbing’ though the controls of the form;
2) Start vb6 exe, host the ActiveX component there and then host the output of that VB6 exe in WPF: we now face some challenges with the communication between form and WPF shell;
In both cases we face some challenges with regards to the keyboard navigation. We want an have expert opinion on this matter. Does anyone have some tips on this topic?Thanks.
Let me try to describe the problem in some more detail. I have build a solution, that is a very simple representation of the actual problem we are facing. But without our own system layer and controls
(etc).
The example solution consists of:
VB6 ActiveX dll, representing one of our maintance apps: containing a class and a form. The class creates instances of the form and shows the form;
VB6 control (ocx), representing our custom control, which instantiates the class;
VB6 exe, representing our 'old Shell', which hosts the VB 6 control;
WPF exe, representing our 'new Shell', which hosts the VB 6 control.
In the 'new shell' we have hosted an vb6 control (ocx), by using the WindowsFormsHost object. This is done in a way described in the "Walk through" (http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms742735.aspx
The VB6 control consist of two buttons: 'show modeless form' and 'show modal form'. The buttons create an instance of the class and instructs the class to either start the form modal or modeless,
by calling public methods of the class.
When starting the VB 6 app, the user can start new modeless forms and modal forms without any problems. This is how our current (VB6) Shell works.
Now we want to move our solution to a newer platform, but gradual, no big bang conversion: the real system is large and complex. In the first phase we don’t want the touch the legacy apps.
We created a WPF exe that hosts the VB6 control. The user can start the modal form without any problems. However clicking the 'show modeless button' raises an error:
Run-time error: '406' Non-Modal Forms cannot be displayed in this host application from an ActiveX DLL, ActiveX control or property page
We figured out that we
have a fundamental problem here.

Instead of doing the frm.Show vbModeless, we now call the ShowWindow() api. This shows the user the modeless form, with some side effects like a 'tab key' that doesn't work as expected (and probably
some other effects we didn't find out yet).
From the user perspective, only showing modal forms is not an option (as is suggested in

We are now looking
into hosting the VB 6 control in a VB6 exe and then host the VB6 exe in WPF.
We then face some challenges in the communication (and navigation) between the two applications.

I cant see the reason y it would lock ALL rows of the tables that fks are reffering to, but just because I cant see it, it doesnt mean that it dont exist.. The normal should be to lock only the row fk is reffering to.. I think.
I dont even distinguish bettween "row share" and "row exclusive" locks u mention.
I still think that you should consider "delayed" locking mode, in order to avoid all these locks because you cant control time the user will have the records not saved and u cannot let other users depend on a single user, espesially when u have so much tables and fks to other tables. And then you can handle errors at the time that the user initiates commit (if a fk changed show an error message or somehting).
One thing is sure. There are people in here that can help you much more than I can.

How to share outgoing messages related to a specific public folder
I have a knotty problem to solve.
My scenario:
Exchange 2007
Public folder: staff (email: [email protected])
3 users (user1, user2, user3) are allowed to get access to staff public folder
My problem:
if user1 opens a message which was sent to [email protected] and then takes the trouble to send a reply, user2 doesn't actually know what user1 wrote to the customer (actually what user1 sent to the customer gets saved in his/her sent folder)
In a nutshell, is it possible to share outgoing messages related to a specific public folder?
As a solution (I might be wrong anyway) I was thinking of copying outgoing emails for specific users to another mailbox (let's say: staff_reply@...) through the creation of a new transport rule...Is that correct?

What release of Outlook are you using?
You can use a GPO to make a registry modification and Outlook 2010 will place the messages into the shared mailbox's "sent items" folder. See this link for details:

Whether or not this works for a public folder, I don't know.
Public folders have a setting to maintain a per-user read/unread status for messages. The problem is that if you pick the "per-user" option, the messages in the folder will look to be unread by a user unless THEY read them. IOW, if user "A" reads
a message it will appear as unread for user "B". That's not the case for a shared mailbox.

Hi:
i am working in developer suit 10g web base application.
while i change somthing doing wrong in required field in form and without tabout that field press [Exit] menu . system display alert
window with 'Close This Form' message.
can we trace and change this system default message?
how can we can stop the user to correct the change with alert button?

On the master data entry screen when user trying to exit from form with menu item. [Menu Item Code : exit_form(ask_commit)]
because we r not able to user forms alert in menu object. it ask every time when data changed.
if there r some required validation like name is mandatroy and user make blank name field and try to exit with menu item.
then system displsy default message 'Close This Form' without display another message which asked due to 'ask_commit'.
we don't want to display system default message.
is there any methode to trace system default message and chage?
is there any work around to stop the user to complete all the validation without close the form?

Problems with importing text messages from PC Suit...
Problems with importing text messages from PC Suit 7.1.18.0 to my Nokia 5800
I am trying to import a csv file that contains text messages (Note that this file was created using PC Suit 7.1.18.0) to a subfolder that I have created to My Folders but PC Suits only imports the text messages to the Draft folder. Note that initially it shows that the messages are import in the correct folder but after a refresh it shows them in the Draft Folder. Is their any setting that I should change in the PC Suit or the phone? My computer runs on Windows XP Service Pack 3 and the Nokia 5800 was upgraded to the latest firmware v20.0.012

To do a restoring, you need to backup the SMS as a .nbu file using PC Suite and restore later.
If you got an SD card, you can also do a backup on the SD Card (backup.arc) then restore later (reset and restore: backup.arc and mmc).

Problem with changes and visualization in the forms
I have a problem with forms, the problem is the next, I do a modification in the database with a update or with form and in other station no visualized the change. The other station need close the form and open for visualize the modification.
Why I have this problemI am not sure what you mean. Are you saying that after one form changes and commits data, it is not visible on the other user's screen?
If that is the problem, unfortunately, that is the way Forms works. A form must re-query the data to see changes on the database. If your form must close and re-open, then you should create a trigger in your form to re-query the same data.

How to display a little message after submitting form
I have an order form that I created in Acrobat Pro 9.2 (on a Mac), that is going to be living on my website, for users to fill out whenver they want to order something. After they hit submit, I'd love for a little message to pop up saying "thank you." Ideally, this would be more than just a warning or dialog box, so that I could include my logo and design the message a little bit. Can I make the form re-direct to a thank you page on my website or something after the user has successfully hit submit? Also, I need to make sure that they only get this message if the form successfully goes through - no sense in having them see the thank you page if their form doesn't get submitted for whatever reason...
