Clone Physical model didn't create grants for a packages

Hi All,
first of all I have to say that I'm using the tool more everyday,
I think is a really powerfull tool also if you are able to combine with SqlDeveloper,
My problem is that I have packages created in the Physical design of my model but I have several environments (PROD, UAT,DEV),
I could have different packages related to the same model in each physical model, that's really great,
I fixed my relational model and after I have defined all the privilege criteria in the Physical model (this should be PROD environment),
I have created a new physical model to reference one of the other environments but when I have cloned from the previous one the grants that I gave for this packages has not been clone as well,
anyway congrats for the develop, altough I have a couple of questions I will posted later in other threads,
I still think is a one of the best options in the market to work with the relational model,
Thanks in advance
Note: version 3.1.0.683

Hi,
Thanks for your comments on Data Modeler.
I've just done a quick test on your cloning problem, and it seems to be working fine for me.
The cloning operation works on saved Physical Models, so is it possible that the Physical Model had not been saved to filestore after the privileges were added?

David

  • Data modeler saving Physical model changes not saved

    I am using version 2.0.0.584.
The bug fix list contains: 8722310: Save does not save physical model changes
Hovever I still see unexpected behaviour.
I created a physical model for "Oracle database 10g" and allocated a couple of tables to a different tablespace.
I saved the physical model via Physical model--> right mouse button --> save all.
I saved the model with File--> save
    I close the model.
After opening, the physical model is not available anymore.
After Physical model--> right mouse button --> open (for Oracle 10g) the contents are not the same anymore.
Tablespaces with name "TableSpace3" and "TableSpace4" are added and objects belong to this tablespace.
We do not have currently a workaround for this behaviour.
    Can anyone help?
    Thanks

    Hi Philip,
default tablespaces were defined and I removed this. It did not have a positive effect.
Checking the log files was a good idea.
The log file contained errors about files which could not be found on the system.
I will do some additional tests and let you know.
    Thanks.

  • Data Modeler bug? - it keeps reporting missing physical model files

    Hi,
I'm having a rather serious problem with the latest data modeler, Oracle SQL Developer Data Modeler 3.1.4.710. It keeps losing physical model files for some reason.
I started to notice that it was not generating all the tables in my small design. After hours of struggle I found multiple error messages in the log file:

These messages appeared every time I opened my physical model (Oracle 10g).
After deleting and recreating the physical model the problem went away for a while. But after closing and reopening the design I started to see the errors again.
    Has anyone seen something similar?
    Regards,
    Brian

    Thanks Philip!
The workaround does the trick for the tables, primary keys and unique keys.
I have just observed that table level constraints show a slightly different behaviour.
Names show up like TCC5, TCC6, etc.
Seems the same problem as previously in SQL*Modeler forgets check constraint names
Is there a workaround for that problem too ?
I already noticed that there is no parameter NameChanged for a table constraint.

  • Setting "Segment Templates" on tables in physical model

Yesterday I set different "segment templates" to corresponding tables and indexes. It worked fine but, today, DDL generator does not apply them. Is it possible? Apparently, segment templates are easy to define and simple to set.
    Thank you.
    Bernat Fabregat

It is possible that "segment template" application were lost after closing and reopening.did you save your physical model? Usually it asks for that.
no sequences, no partitions, etcdo you see them in physical model? If not can you check design directories structure (for sequences) - are there files (*.xml) under directory "Sequence" - they are not directly in that directory - there are other directories with names like seg_0...

  • Physical attributes for index on temp tables (using physical model)

I need create index on temp tables.
When I generate DDL, it includes physical attributes like ‘LOGGING NOCOMPRESS NOPARALLEL’.
I get error "ORA – 14451 (unsupported feature w/temporary tables)"
I’ve to use physical model in OSDM. How do I get rid of physical attributes in DDL for index?

    Hi,
    Thanks for reporting this problem.
You can remove the LOGGING clause by opening the Properties dialog for the Index in the Physical model and setting its Logging property to the blank option.
However it's not possible to suppress the NOCOMPRESS and NOPARALLEL at the moment.
I've logged a bug on this.
As a workaround, you could do a global edit on the DDL file to remove all instances of NOCOMPRESS and NOPARALLEL.

  • How to specify COMPRESS FOR OLTP on a table in physical model?

    Hi,
we have licensed Oracle's Advanced Compression and want to use the OLTP compression on some tables. I am looking for a way to specify COMPRESS FOR OLTP on a table in the physical model. So far, I can only set "Data Compression" to YES or NO.
Are you going to add the "new" compression modes in the next release?
    Thanks,
    Frank
Version of SQL Developer Data Modeler is 3.1.3.709

    Hi Frank,
Are you going to add the "new" compression modes in the next release? There is support for compression type (including OLTP) in DM 3.3 EA and you can download it from OTN.

    Hi,
there is no such table MTL_ONHAND_DISCREPANCY or synonym in Applications 11.5.10.2. Is that custom table created in your db?
After dropping this table from APPS schema 'Re-create grants and synonyms for APPS schema' went thru fine. Its correct
This table does not exist in INV schema in 11.5.10.2.
Could be possible that the consultant could have created this table in INV and APPS schema by mistake or whatever.Yes, with the same name, there might be table in APPS SCHEMA. When you run recreate grants and synonyms, adadmin tries to create synonym for that table in APPS schema. since there is object available with the same name in apps chema, you got that error.

  • Arc is not implemented for SQL Server 2005 physical model

I added the Arc in my relational model, which is supposed to provide that references are mutually exclusive (so only one refering column can be not null). However there is not any implementation for this in the SQL Server 2005 physical model. The SQL code generated simply ignores the Arc and allows any values for the columns covered by Arc. If we check Oracle physical model. then it generates some trigger, which controls how many columns have values assigned - this is actually an implementation of Arc. But there is nothing of this kind for SQL Server model...
By the way, implementing this Arc by trigger looks like to heavy approach. The very simple table level check constraint will do the same job. But this is a different subject though.

  • Attributes For SQL Server Physical Models Aren't Saved

In version 3.0.0.665, a physical implementation implementation of data model was persisted to SQL Server 2005. The physical implementation required the use of IDENTITIES; the equivalence to an Oracle sequence.
The functionality works fine because the DDL generated correctly and the script was persisted to the target database without incidence. Both the physical model and DMD were saved. After deployment, the client required the addition of several attributes into the model. Since the model hadn't populated yet, the desired approach involved dropping the SQL SERVER database (Oracle Schema), applying the changes to the data model, generating the DDL, and creating the SQL SERVER database.
Upon inspection of the generated DDL, the IDENTITY directives were absence. Further research discovered the attributes were absence from the property sheets attached to the various physical tables. Further testing uncovered that these attributes only persist throughout the lifetime of the data modeling session.
I have not had this experience with Oracle physical models e.g.(creating trigger, sequences, etc). Most likely this is a defect in the software, but I was curious to know, if anyone else as run across this opportunity.
    Warm regards,
    Greg

  • MITI Integrator for Erwin 4.1 - Physical Model does not import

    Hello,
I'm running the MITI integrator in BOMM 3.0 for Ewrin 4.1
I'm using an ER1 file that contains both the Logical and physical data model.
When i explor the data in BOMM Explorer, i can only see the  Logical model.  There is a loose link to the physical model in the Technical Name field - but this does not seem to be completely accurate.  It looks like the integrator just takes the Logical name and replaces spaces with underscores.  This works in the following example where the logical name and physical name are essentially the same:
    Logical name: Customer Names
    Physical name: customer_names
    Technical name (parsed?): customer_names
In the above example BOMM will generate a same as relationship between tables called customer_names and the Logical table "Customer Names".  this is what we are hoping to see.
The following example is where the problem occurs.
    Logical Name: Customer Names
    Physical Name: cstmr_nm
    Technical Name (parsed?): customer_names
In the above scenario, BOMM is no longer able to draw the relationship from the logical name to the physical name.
As I stated at the beginning  - it seems that the Integrator is only importing the logical model and then parsing the technical name out of that - we are using an NSM file to convert common terms to erwin standard abbreviations and we were wondering if the ingtegrator could leverege this file in some way.

As has been pointed out, it would be **extremely** unusual to want to have a user that could create global temporary tables but not permanent tables. I'm very hard-pressed to imagine a scenario where that would make sense.
However, if you grant the user the CREATE TABLE privilege but do not grant the user quota on any permanent tablespace, they would be unable to create permanent tables but should be able to create global temporary tables. You'll have to make sure that you don't grant the user UNLIMITED TABLESPACE which would give them unlimited quota on all tablespaces. If you are using 11g and you have enabled deferred segment creation, the users would actually be able to create tables in tablespaces they have no quota on though they would not be able to insert any data in those tables.

I have tried with re-creating model and rebuild the project but still getting the same error.
    Kindly suggest.
    Thanks & Regards

    hi,
the problem is that you are missing a jar file called: webdynpromodel_webservice_default.jar
    which should be present inside:
    C:\Documents and Settings\<User Name>\.dtc\3\DCs\sap.com\tc\wd\wslib\_comp\gen\default\public\default\lib\java
For this you need to add tc/wd/wslib(default) DC as used DC. Go to DC Metadata -> DC Definition and expand used DCs. check whether it is present or not. If not then add it.
Just check this. Hope this will solve your problem
    thanks & regards,
    Manoj
