Cloning of midtier midtier 1012

Dear All,
I have having a strange problem when doing an application cloing.
I am trying to clone the oracle appliction server midt1012 for serverA to serverB (new server - no oracle installation). The cloning goes on smoothly until near the end it tries to start the Oracle Enterprise manager. It is trying the following url http://serverC.uws.edu.au:1156/emd/console/aboutApplication.
We had done in the past cloning between A and C (swap the servers during upgrades). But now I cloned server A and EM and others components seems to be working fine on A. May be a file is still point to ServerC not changed during the cloning. Any idea from where the clone process might be getting ths url?
Thanks

  • Set-up with different urls for login server and mid-tier

The desired external host names are the following:
    Portal -> http://www.myportal.com
    Login Server -> http://www.login.com
The real (internal) host names are the following:
    midtier -> midtier.xyz.com
    infrastructure-> infra.xyz.com
How should the Oracle HTTP Server, Login/SSO server, portal be configured with this type of set-up?
In particular, what should be in the httpd.conf, dads.conf, mod_osso.conf files and which values should be passed to the ssocfg and ptlasst scripts? Does the DAS url need to have the internal or external host name?

How should the scenario described above be integrated into the instructions below? $HOSTNAME may refer to the internal or external midtier or infrastructure machine name. Which should be used?
Assume HTTPS for the login server --> https://www.login.com.

Subject: How to configure SSL with Portal 9.0.2
    Type: HOWTO
    Status: PUBLISHED
    Content Type: TEXT/PLAIN
    Creation Date: 25-OCT-2002
    Last Revision Date: 16-JAN-2003
PURPOSE ------- This note explains how to set up SSL with Portal. There are several ways to configure SSL with Portal. This note uses SSL only between the browser and WebCache. The communication between the Webcache/Apache or PPE/Webcache is done in HTTP. This installation is a lot less CPU extensive than a full SSL configuration. Please note the configuration outlined here is not currently certified for Portal 9.0.2; however, it is fully supported by Oracle Support and Development. This means that this configuration was not tested by the Portal QA Department within Oracle. The difference in the QA test was that all components of the configuration were in SSL mode. SCOPE & APPLICATION ------------------- This note is intended for Portal administrators. This note is based on Unix. The Windows NT configuration is very similar. HISTORY ------- Version 1.0: SSL with a Unix shell script Version 1.1: Comment about the Webcache HTTP port How to configure SSL with Portal 9.0.2 -------------------------------------- Step 1 - Prerequisite --------------------- A. Get a SSL certificate ------------------------ IAS v2 is given with dummy certificates. You can use them. If you wish to use real SSL certificates, follow a note to configure SSL with Webcache like : - Note 161863.1 - Configuring WebCache with SSL - NT/2000 - Note 165305.1 - Configuring WebCache with SSL - Unix B. Password of the database schemas of portal --------------------------------------------- You need to have the passwords of the following database users: Database user Your passwords ---------------------------------------------- portal orasso orasso_ps orasso_pa These passwords are normally randomized during the installation of IAS V2. To find them, please follow one of these notes: - Note 206514.1 : IAS 9.0.2 : How to get the portal passwords to run the PTLASST script (Windows) - Note 199633.1 : Script to determine orasso password in 9iAS 9.0.2 on Unix - Note 205984.1 : Script to determine orasso password in 9iAS 9.0.2 on Windows C. Ports -------- During this installation, you will need to know a lot of ports of IAS V2. Please collect this information, before to begin. You can see the port list by going to the homepage of the midtier and of the infrastructure web page and clicking on the tab Port. You can also read the file portlist.ini that resides in both ORACLE_HOME in the directory $ORACLE_HOME/install. Here is the list, you need: Name of the port My port numbers Your port numbers --------------------------------------------------------------------- Midtier Web Cache HTTP port 7783 Midtier Web Cache HTTPS port 4459 Midtier Web Cache Admin port 4000 Midtier Web Cache Invalidation port 4001 --------------------------------------------------------------------- Infrastructure Oracle HTTP Server port 7784 Infrastructure Oracle HTTPS Server port 4460 Infrastructure Internet Directory(non-SSL) 4039 --------------------------------------------------------------------- D. Backups ---------- You should take a backup of your IAS installation in case that you want to revert all the changes done here and/or if you make a mistake during the configuration. The only good way to do a backup of IAS 9.0.2 is to have a full backup of the both ORACLE_HOMES of the Infrastructure and of the MidTier. Step 2 - Configure Portal to run in SSL --------------------------------------- 1) Edit the Webcache configuration Go to the administration port > http://hostname:web_admin_port/ > Typically http://hostname:4000/ Login: administrator/administrator Go to General Configuration / Site to Server Mapping -> Change the rule WebCache SSL - HTTP SSL -> Below the title Select "Application Web Servers" -> Check the checkbox with HTTP -> Uncheck the one with HTTPS -> Submit On the top of Webcache admin screen, press on <Apply the changes> Then restart WebCache. 2) Edit the dads.conf (in $MIDTIER_ORACLE_HOME/Apache/modplql/conf) Add a new line in the DAD: <Location /pls/portal> PlsqlCGIEnvironmentList REQUEST_PROTOCOL=HTTPS,SERVER_PORT=4459 Where 4459 is the HTTPS port of the MIDTIER. 3) Modify the web.xml of the portal application ($MIDTIER_ORACLE_HOME/j2ee/OC4J_Portal/applications/portal/portal/WEB-INF) Add several parameters to the page servlet (PPE). [...] <servlet> <servlet-name>page</servlet-name> [...] <init-param> <param-name>useWebCache</param-name> <param-value>true</param-value> </init-param> <init-param> <param-name>useScheme</param-name> <param-value>http</param-value> </init-param> <init-param> <param-name>usePort</param-name> <param-value>7783</param-value> </init-param> </servlet> [...] Where 7783 is the HTTP port of Webcache. Step 3 - Run the PTLASST ------------------------ Because of bug 2659809, we will remove an entry in OID before to run the PTLASST script. This entry will be recreated by PTLASST. Because of bug 2654938, we will reconfigure Webcache after PTLASST. Run this script, and modify the environment variables with the values found above. This scripts does 3 things: 1) It configures SSO/DAS to run in the infrastructure HTTPS port 2) It configures Portal in HTTPS mode, and associates Portal with SSO in HTTPS. 3) Restart OC4J and HTTP processes of the MIDTIER and INFRASTRUCTURE - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - portal_ssl.sh - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - export INFRA_ORACLE_HOME=/u01/oracle/product/infra902 export MIDTIER_ORACLE_HOME=/u01/oracle/product/ias902 export INFRA_SID=iasdb export MIDTIER_SID=ias902 export PORTAL_SID=$INFRA_SID export PORTAL_TNS=iasdb export MIDTIER_HTTP_PORT=7783 export MIDTIER_HTTPS_PORT=4459 export WEBCACHE_INV_PORT=4001 export WEBCACHE_ADM_PORT=4000 export INFRA_HTTP_PORT=7784 export INFRA_HTTPS_PORT=4460 export OID_PORT=4039 export EM_PORT=1810 export PORTAL_PASSWORD=ABCDEFGH export ORASSO_PASSWORD=ABCDEFGH export ORASSO_PA_PASSWORD=ABCDEFGH export ORASSO_PS_PASSWORD=ABCDEFGH export HOSTNAME=machine.domain.com export IAS_PASSWORD=ABCDEFGH export ORAENV_ASK=NO export ORACLE_SID=$INFRA_SID . oraenv unset ORAENV_ASK echo '******** PART 1 - SSO IN SSL **********' export LD_LIBRARY_PATH=$INFRA_ORACLE_HOME/lib:$LD_LIBRARY_PATH export PATH=$INFRA_ORACLE_HOME/jdk/bin:$PATH export PATH=$ORACLE_HOME/bin:$PATH # This step will change the URL used to login by default for # all partner application cd $INFRA_ORACLE_HOME/sso/bin ./ssocfg.sh HTTPS $HOSTNAME $INFRA_HTTPS_PORT # This step add a new partner application to SSO. # It associates the new URL used by OIDDAS with SSO. cd $INFRA_ORACLE_HOME/sso/lib java -jar $ORACLE_HOME/sso/lib/ossoreg.jar -host $HOSTNAME -port 1521 -sid $INFRA_SID -site_name ssl_$HOSTNAME -success_url https://$HOSTNAME:$INFRA_HTTPS_PORT/osso_login_success -cancel_url https://$HOSTNAME:$INFRA_HTTPS_PORT/ -logout_url https://$HOSTNAME:$INFRA_HTTPS_PORT/osso_logout_success -home_url https://$HOSTNAME:$INFRA_HTTPS_PORT/ -start_date 08012002 -admin_id oracle -ip_check false -config_mod_osso true -oracle_home_path $INFRA_ORACLE_HOME -u root -sso_server_version v1.2 echo '---------------------' echo 'Change the URL of DAS' echo '---------------------' rm das.ldif echo 'dn:cn=OperationURLs,cn=DAS,cn=Products,cn=OracleContext' > das.ldif echo 'changetype:modify' >> das.ldif echo 'replace:orcldasurlbase' >> das.ldif echo orcldasurlbase:https://$HOSTNAME:$INFRA_HTTPS_PORT/ >> das.ldif ldapmodify -h $HOSTNAME -p $OID_PORT -D "cn=orcladmin" -w "$IAS_PASSWORD" -f das.ldif echo '******** PART 2 - PORTAL IN SSL **********' echo '-----------------------' echo 'Delete an entry in LDAP' echo '-----------------------' ldapdelete -h $HOSTNAME -p $OID_PORT -D "cn=orcladmin" -w "$IAS_PASSWORD" "orclApplicationCommonName=PORTAL,cn=Portal,cn=Products,cn=OracleContext"

Webcache has no way to limit the use of a port to a specific machine or IP address. This is not a real issue because the goal of SSL is not to avoid that people access your server but that people intercept the data sent between the browser and the webserver. But in case that you/your customer is very sensible about security and want a webserver with SSL only (what is very rare), you may want to add a firewall in front of Webcache to block the HTTP port. • How to use one wallet for both infrastructure & midtier installations?

I have a 10.1.2.0.2 Portal installation that also includes the metadata repository & other infrastructure components on the same server. I need to configure SSL throughout Portal and I have 1 server certificate that I installed in Oracle Wallet Manager in the infrastructure home. Can I use this same certificate for the midtier without installing it in the midtier Wallet Manager?
    Thanks,
    Denise

From one Directory Server (ds1) generate CSR with the name ds.example.com in the request. Once you get the signed cert import it into the same server you generated CSR with. Then from ds1.example.com :
    scp -p <slapd install/instance path>/alias/* <account>@ds2.example.com:<slapd install/instance path>/alias/
to copy the contents of the alias path to the same location on the other Directory Server. Make sure file permissions are the same.

  • 10g AS: How to run 2 Midtiers in one infrastructure

We are trying to install two midtiers of Portal 10g (lets call them internet and intranet) using one and the same infrastructure (infstr1).
So far we installed the 10g infstr1 using an existing Database placed on a different server. We also installed the internet-midtier of 10g Portal. The installation went, isntead of some minor adjustments, very well, thanks for the good programming.
Then we installed the intranet-midtier of 10g Portal on the same machine in a new oracle home. But now we are no more able to access the internet-midtier of 10g Portal.
My Question: In general, is it possible to install two midtiers on the same machine using the same infrastructure also installed on the same machine by having the database placed on a different server?
    Regards,
    Michael Kiefer-Berkmann

My Question: In general, is it possible to install two midtiers on the same machine using the same infrastructure also installed on the same machine by having the database placed on a different server?Though it is possible to install multiple midtiers against the same Portal repository, using these midtiers to access the same Portal with different site url's in not possible. Portal maintains the details of the webcache of the midtier in the repository for cache functionality. Anytime new Portal midtiers are added the new webcache entries would overwrite the existing entries (unless one selects not to configure Portal during the midtier install.) How to add new midtiers without overwriting the existing entries is detailed in the loadbalacer section (advanced Portal configuration chapter) of the Portal Configuration guide.
Multiple midtiers are added to the Portal for scalability and performance reasons and not for accessing it from multiple url's. These multiple midtiers are always frontended by loadbalancers. Please refer to the advanced configuration chapter of the Portal configuration guide which details how to setup reverse proxy, virtual hosts, load balancers based on your deployment requirements. iAS also provides a list of recommended deployment topologies in its documentation.

  • Whether Forms/Reports Service is present in Midtier of Oracle AS 10.1.3

    Hi,
Can anybody confirm whether Forms/Reports Service (i.e. Business Intelligence and Forms/Reports Service) is present in Midtier of Oracle AS 10.1.3?
How do I check this fact from Oracel documentation.
    Regards
    Suresh Shinde

    Hi,
    Do you mean running? Anyway you check your readme.txt for your mid installation, you can find similar contents as follows;
    Install Type: All Services
    Configured Components: Oracle HTTP Server,
Oracle Application Server 10g Containers for J2EE,
Oracle Application Server 10g Web Cache,

I have installed Oracle AS (Infraturcture & middle tier , BI & Forms) on same Linux box.i.e: Oracle As 10.1.2.0.2 (Rel 2, x86 for Linux), SLES 9
    Here is my question:
How to Stop and restart the midtier?
    Regards,
    DN

    biforms.sh
    export ORACLE_HOME=/opt/oracle/biforms
    export OH=$ORACLE_HOME
    export PATH=$OH/bin:$OH/opmn/bin:/bin:/usr/local/bin:/usr/bin:/usr/X11R6/bin:/bin:/opt/gnome/bin:/opt/kde3/bin:/usr/lib/java/bin
    export ORACLE_SID=ORCL
    export LD_LIBRARY_PATH=$OH/lib:/usr/openwin/lib:/usr/dt/lib:/usr/lib:/tools/lib
    infra.sh
export ORACLE_HOME=/opt/oracle/infra  <-- or correct one!
    export OH=$ORACLE_HOME
    export PATH=$OH/bin:$OH/opmn/bin:/bin:/usr/local/bin:/usr/bin:/usr/X11R6/bin:/bin:/opt/gnome/bin:/opt/kde3/bin:/usr/lib/java/bin
    export ORACLE_SID=ORCL
export LD_LIBRARY_PATH=$OH/lib:/usr/openwin/lib:/usr/dt/lib:/usr/lib:/tools/libAs you see, only the first row differs from these two scrips. Because I'm lazy, I usualy set export OH. Under certain circumstances you might want to add DISPLAY to biforms.sh. Set it to localhost:0 or whatever is correct.

  • PowerPivot: MidTier process account should have 'Full Read' permission on all associated SPWebApplications.

First time install of SharePoint 2013 (with SQL Server 2014) and Health Analyzer continuously shows the error in subject line.  Note that I've 'Reanalyzed' the error and attempted to 'Repair Automatically' but no luck.  I've followed the instructions
on related threads for this issue but to no avail.
Verified that the service account used by the App Pool has Full Read access on the web site as below.
First verified what App Pool is being used by the PowerPivot application:
Then verified what domain account is used as the service identity for the App Pool (under Service Accounts, but I can only upload 2 images per post).  The Service Account for the SharePoint Web Services System is <mydomain>\SPServices
Then checked that the domain account has Full Read on the web site
Any help of ways I can additionally troubleshoot would be greatly appreciated...

    Hi Dinesh,
Please use another domain account for PowerPivot Service Application instead of SP_farm, then grant full read permission to the content web applications associated to this service application through User Policy, then run the rule and check result again.

  • Best wasy to move OC4J from Production to Test MidTier

I've read the documents but I am still lost on the best way to move a OC4J instance to another MidTier
I have 3 separate OC4J instances that are deployed for 3 separate divisions that contain different apps.
What is the easiest way to move them to a different MidTier in a different environment. (in my case same OS,portal 10.1.2 just slightly different layout)
I have worked though the create a test from production and have my test up and running. I just need to deploy the production apps to the test environment. Both have separate MidTiers, Infrastures and database.
I know I can manually recreate OC$J instance names and then manually recreate the apps from the .ear files but is there a easier faster way to do this?
    Thanks

    Hi,
It's not a simple move, it's an upgrade...
So perhaps transportable tablespace can help you (export from 10gR1 and import into 10gR2 should be work).
Read the following doc for more info and sample :
    http://download-west.oracle.com/docs/cd/B14117_01/server.101/b10825/dp_export.htm#i1006840
    http://download-west.oracle.com/docs/cd/B14117_01/server.101/b10739/tspaces.htm#sthref1231
    http://download-uk.oracle.com/docs/cd/B19306_01/server.102/b14215/dp_import.htm#BEHFFDCD
    http://download-uk.oracle.com/docs/cd/B19306_01/server.102/b14231/tspaces.htm#sthref1267
Or export your db in dump file, on the new server, precreate your db as well, and import like for an upgrade :

  • Workflow Wizard (JDev) an BPEL 10.1.2.0.2 midtier install

    Hi,
I have a RHEL4 based AS environment set up for BPEL as follows:
    1. Infrastructure install of AS 10.1.2.0.2
    2. Midtier install of AS 10.1.2.0.2
    3. BPEL Midtier install into (2) and configured to use OID for LDAP and Metdata Repos for dehydration
    4. BPEL dev install for Jdev
In workflow wizard when we get to allocate groups/users we cannot seem to populate the wizard with user data from from OID.
Someone told me its not supported. Wanted to verify this.
    Thanks,Saul.

Hi Saul, I tried to install BPEL PM in midtier and my settings for installation are as follows and are like your settings:
    1. Infrastructure install of AS 10.1.2.0.2
    2. Midtier install of AS 10.1.2.0.2
    3. BPEL Midtier install into (2)
Now how do I configure to use OID for LDAP and Metdata Repos for dehydration. I get the following error and thus my defsault domain doesn't work.
None of the processes works either

    Hi.
I seem to be having the same problem. Have you solved this issue ?? I just opened a SR with Oracle on this issue.

  • OPMN Configuration Assistant Failed - During Midtier Installation

I'll try to make this short and sweet.
2 Boxes both running SLES9 Latest OCS Release (10.1.1.0.2 Sep 27).
By the book install. Have met all pre-install reqs.
Infra box installed okay. Very vanilla install except I opted for port ranges: web 7777, SSL 4443 etc.
Second Box , Midtier.(Apps Install) Trying to get a very vanilla install as well. Did not opt for port changes, took the defaults.
After about 40 minutes of the OPMN Config Assistant trying to start Webcache
and Wireless Notification engine, the installer finally times out and fails.
    Logs indicate the following:
Webcache log -- ...Failed to assign port 80: permission denied...server could not initalize
OPMN/wireless_notif_eng_1003 log --Panama server notif..eng..1003 failed to initalize
    ipm.log -- Process Crashed: OC4J~OC4J_imeeting~default_island~ Restarting
Even getting some indication of sql*net listener for email on port 25 failing because of permissions.
I was under the impression that the installation user id had rights to make high level changes. (I did get the prompt to run the root.sh)
I have the Metalink guys on this as well and its got them digging a bit deeper.
Does anyone have any ideas? What am I missing here?
    Thanks in advance!
    Paul

The Infra box install did give me a problem when I left the port selections to default (I did not use a portlist) i.e http=80, https=443, ldap 389, sldap 636. It refused to finish the install because it did not have rights to assign services to ports below 1024.
I thought that the Root.sh script took care of that issue (which has been confirmed by the Metalink folks) So I went with what some of the examples in the install guide had and used 7777 for http, 4443 for https, 3060 for ldap and 3131 for sldap. The Infra box then installed without a hitch.
I have met or exceed the hardware requirements for both boxes and have followed every detail regarding OS configs prior to install.
I am running into the same issue when installing the Apps box. Trying to take the defaults, no portlist file, just a plain default install.
I have double checked that no other services are running on these new boxes as I installed the OS with no bells or whistles. Very plain setup in other words.
My last chat with the Metalink guys seem to think there is a permissions issue and that SLES9 is not playing nice when executing the root.sh. script.
I am really flustered. Any ideas?
