Environment: BOXIR3.1 SP3 FP 3.6
When the user logging into infoview/CMC that time one session is creating , once logged off session also automatically closing. But when we using the open doc link, we dont have option to sign out the application. At that time we wanted to close the browser. But in CMC still we could see the users session in active. Could you please help us to kill the session when the browser is closed .
is there any possible to kill such kind if session in BOXIr3.1
Thanks

Hi,
You can only kill sessions using the SDK and it's not recommended.
Sessions should be automatically cleaned from the CMS after the timeout period. If it is not your case, follow the steps indicated in this KBA:

  • How to close a session when user clicks Logout

In my jsp page i create a session for every user's name.
when particular user clicks logut without closing his personal page,
the others can access his page.
so, how to close a session when clicks logout link.?
similarly when user gets signin one system,he will not be sigin in other system.but how can we achieve this?
    Thanks in Advance

What is the name of the session variable that you are creating on login? When he clicks logout, set that session variable to null. Like session.setAttribute("userName",null); and check for non-null condition before proceeding with any functionality in your jsp's.
What is the second question? You want to prevent duplicate logins from different systems? You would have to maintain a static datastructure like a HashMap for instance. Everytime a user logs in, put an entry into the HashMap...like userMap.put("userName","userName"); If an entry already exists, throw a message saying that user already logged in from another machine...

  • I HAVE LOST THE "CLOSE TAB" OPTION WHEN CLOSING A SCREEN THE SYSTEM WILL ONLY CLOSE BACK TO THE DESKTOP? RUSS

    Hi,
When closing a screen I have, in the past, used the File button [top left] this produced the drop down menu, there was the option to "CLOSE TAB", which I used, this closed the screen but left Firefox open, this option has now disappeared, the only way I can close a screen now is to exit back to the Desktop and reopen Firefox.
    Russ

    Hi,
Thanks for the prompt response, unfortunately whilst the solution you proposed works on most tabs when I am down to the last one absolutely nothing I do will get rid of it, at present I cannot close the Mozilla Add-ons Manager tab. I have tried your suggestion followed by clicking the cross in the top right of the screen, I have also tried File and then exit. But when I next click onto the Mozilla icon it returns to the last tab shown on the screen.

  • Firefox 4 tries to close all tabs when closing a pop-up. How do I stop this?

Just upgraded to Firefox 4 yesterday. It's great! EXCEPT every time a pop-up occurs, if I try to just click on the "x" to close the pop-up, Firefox wants to close all my tabs (and thus my browser).

For example, on the following link:
    http://www.amazon.com/Clear2GO-Water-Bottle-with-Filter/dp/B002VPRKSC/ref=pd_sim_k_4
When I click on the water bottle image, a window pops up with an enlarged picture of the product. However, when I try to close the popup, it asks me if I want to close all my tabs.

  • Invalidate session when closing browser

    Hi All,
Please anybody help me regarding session invalidate in servlet(web application) when closing browser.
    how can do this.
    Thanks,

It can't be done in pure servlet because browser closing event is not caught be servlet. Google for JavaScript's onBeforeUnload event and invoke Ajax call to invalidate the session - this is the only way to handle this.

  • Close portal (session) when calling external url

    Hi there,
does anyone know if its possible and if yes, how to automatically close a portal session when (or after) calling an external url from within the portal.

  • Portal not closing session when closing the browser window

    Hi,
We have a problem in portal where the user logs onto Portal with their userid/password and has another window opened eg. www.google.com.
The user then closes their browser(x) on IE, but still has the other session opened. (www.google.com)
Later the user tries to logon to Portal, but is not prompted with their userid/password, and is taken directly into Portals.
This is a problem, we want the users to always be prompted with their userid/password.
    Thanks
    Sushanth

If the second browser session is a child of the first (e.g. started via Ctrl-N) the session context is inherited, including session cookies (here: MYSAPSSO2), which are relevant for user authentication against the portal.
    That's how IE works.
If the second browser is a new instance and the session cookie is set in this browser session as well, it's a browser bug. Try to update OS and/or IE.

  • Firefox is saving last session when closed, and it won't open a new window once a session is started.

Firefox 3.6.13 running on Windows XP SP 3, Zonealarm 9.3
Noticed that I can no longer open new windows - the cursor blinks momentarily and then nothing happens. After closing a Firefox window, cannot run Firefox without a system restart. After a system restart, Firefox will open but will either restore the last session or give an error that it cannot restore the last session. My start-up option is to go to my Home Page, which is google. I have uninstalled and reinstalled Firefox and the problem continues.

The "System Tray" is located at the very bottom right of your screen and is a list of most/all running applications that will show in this list.
For your SysFader issue, this "may" be the problem:
1 Find the "My Computer" desktop icon and right-click it. A pull-down menu will appear. Select "Properties."
2 Click on the "Advanced" tab. This will load a new page of options.
3 Select the "Visual Effects" tab at the top of the window and deselect "Animate Windows when minimizing and maximizing," "Fade or slide menus into view," "Fade or slide Tool Tips into view" and "Fade out Menu items after checking."
4 Click "OK." This will remove most if not all of the Sysfader effects, at the same time correcting related errors that used to come up during opening a new file or program.

i've opened many tabs that i want. When I close Firefox there are many tabs. Those tabs have to be restored when i open again Firefox. how to activate in firefox 4.o. In firefox 3.6 it is asking defaultly to save sessions.

In Firefox 4 you can always restore the previous session via Firefox > History > Restore Previous Session
You can set the warn prefs on the about:config page to true via the right-click context menu or toggle with a double left-click.

  • Session termination when close the browser

    Hello
Is there any way I can close all sessions when user closes the browser by clicking the X button on the top right hand corner of the browser instead of logging out.
Please help as this is a serious security concern I am facing with my application.

You have to write code that captures the window closing event and send a request (ajax will do) to the server to fire off the session invalidation.
Google for "handle window closing in browsers". AFAIK, there is no standard event that works on FF, IE and Safari - so if cross browser compatibility is a requirement, you have problems. There are workarounds that googling will lead you to.
Another option - If possible use per browser cookies for your session - the session finishes when the browser is closed. Mind you, the session would still be alive on the server side and would get recycled only when the session inactive interval is exceeded.

    ram.

  • Editing OpenDoc Link

    Hie Guys,
I have a OpenDoc link inside a Dashboard/URL button to a Detail Report (Webi). I edited the Detail Report by deleting a predefined filter object from the query panel.
During the migration process to production, a copy of the Detail Report was created in Prod, which contained the changes I had made. Now, this resulted in no changes to the Dashboard as the hyperlink was still pointing to the Original Detail Report. To resolve the issue, the copy of the Detail Report was deleted from production and the Detail Report was remigrated from Test to Production overwriting the Original Detail Report in Prod. But, now when I click on the URL button, I get an error - "Could not find the document". I think it is giving the error because the CUID of the Detail Report has changed now.
Can anyone help me make the necessary changes to the OpenDoc link in the dashboard? I've attached the necessary links below FYI. Thanks.
Updated Detail Report Link - /BOE/OpenDocument/opendoc/openDocument.jsp?sIDType=CUID&iDocID=Abp21Xjwbo9PlAikoMhf_Co
Original Dashboard URL Button  OpenDoc -
    /BOE/OpenDocument/opendoc/openDocument.jsp?sType=wid&sIDType=CUID&iDocID=AbZfWEmnHFlFvps9a_.LYOE&lsSEnter Fiscal Year:=&lsSEnter Company Direct Name:=Operational Support;Performance Optimization&lsSEnter Unit Plus one:=N&lsSEnter Unit Number:=N&lsSEnter Resource Type:=N&lsSEnter Resource Name:=N

Well I would expect that since the values you are passing are all N
If the prompts that you want to pass to your webi report you have to link the variables to the cells in the dashboard that contains the values.
So let's assume that you got the values in row A1 to A5
    /BOE/OpenDocument/opendoc/openDocument.jsp?sType=wid&sIDType=CUID&iDocID=Abp21Xjwbo9PlAikoMhf_Co&lsSEnter Fiscal Year:=A1&lsSEnter Company Direct Name:=Operational Support;Performance Optimization&lsSEnter Unit Plus one:=A2&lsSEnter Unit Number:=A3&lsSEnter Resource Type:=A4&lsSEnter Resource Name:=A5

  • How to close a HTTP session when a user closes the window

    Hi,
I am having problems when closing the browser of a BW web report. After I closed the browser by going File->close, I ran SM04 and found out the Plugin HTTP session hangs at the server side.
How can we terminate the Plugin HTTP session at the server side when user closes the internet browser?
I did implement a logoff function at my web template and this was implimented on the Menu page, if user clicks on the logoff, the Plugin HTTP session is terminated at server side correctly.
If user navigates to the other pages from the main page... then the logoff function was not implimented in the other pages. So many of the users are closing the windows directly. Eevn if we impliment logoff in all the subpages, As you know, 50% of time user will close the report by closing the internet browser instead of clicking the logoff. That leaves lots of hanging Plugin HTTP sessions at our server side.
    Regards,
    Tony

    Hi,
And also take a look on the Genral property of the web template. We solved this problem by changing only this property (no extra things).

  • Firefox keeps running in the backround after closing it, it just lingers there, and when I try to restart firefox, it says that I have to close the current one or restart my system to clear the last firefox. what can I do, thanks...

After the last update, my IBM Clone computer does not close the session of firefox when clicking on "close" it clears the screen back to the desktop but firefox continues to hang there in the backround and will not allow another session of firefox to start until the first session is closed. The only way to reconnect is to do a restart on my system, and then the old firefox session is closed and the new session will start.

Must be the "hang at exit" problem. <br /><br />

  • When I have two browser windows open, the first with multiple tabs the second a window opened from a link (so just one tab), and close the second window, I receive the Quit Firefox prompt, "do you want to save tabs...?"

This was happening with FF 3 before upgrading to 4, and was not happening with FF4.0 until the 4.0.1 update was applied, the first time it ran. Same issue on another computer running FF3, so may be a extension related problem.
If I have three windows open and close the third, I do Not get this. Only when two are opened and one is closed. I could have three, close one, then the second and get the prompt.
