Cloud automation testing feasibility using Coded UI 2013.

Hi,
I am unable to find any document which could explain whether automation testing for cloud application could be achieved using Coded UI 2013. In my project the plan is to move all applications to cloud network and as an automation tester I have automated
those application. I am bit confused how to start up the automation. We will be using private cloud, the confusion I have is, will it be similar to automate cloud application like our websites in a network ?
Please provide some details how to start up with cloud automation.

ADF applications automated testing

Is there an automated test tool used by the the ADF team at Oracle? Or any one out there, have successfully used an automated tool for ADF applications?

This depends on the kind of test you want to make and the technology stack your app is using.
JUnit is always worse a try (it integrated in JDev after some updates and give you rudimentary test classes).

Coded UI automation support for MIcrosoft Dynamic CRM 2013

Hi,
I have been checking for a UI automation tool for Microsoft Dynamic CRM 2013. Even though it is mentioned as coded UI fully supports Dynamic CRM, I was not able to automate CRM with VS2013, VS2015 Preview. Please reply if you have any workaround to make
it possible to automate UI testing of CRM 2013 using coded UI.

could you please tell me what version of VS you use to test your coded UI test?
In addition, I did some search and don’t find any information about CRM2013 support for Coded UI test.
Based on this article:

Recordings, Dynamics CRM web client is fully supported. Even though I am not sure whether it includes CRM2013, I suggest you should use VS to drag the crosshair
on the control to check the control can be identified by Coded UI Test.
In addition, since the issue is related to the Microsoft Dynamic CRM, I suggest you can ask the issue to
Microsoft Dynamic
CRM forum, may be you will get better support.
As you said that you are not able to automate coded UI test with VS2015 Preview, because VS2015 Preview is still a preview version

How to execute Coded UI automated test case remotely without installing Visual studio?

We are using visual studio 2013 premium. my object is to run the Coded ui automated test case remotely without installing visual studio. can you guide me how to approach it successfully ?

as far as I know that if we want to run the automation test remotely without vs using mstest, we will need to install and configure the test controller and the test agent machine.
Please refer to the following steps configure the test controller on locally machine and install a test agent on the remotely machine.
Note: If you an
automation test on locally machine, we must make sure the test agent be installed on remotely
machine.

Doubt about using automation testing in mtm and vs 2012

Hi
Ive a doubt in using mtm and vs 2012. I wanna test a software by automation method
1) whether i should record the steps in visual studio and attach the recorded file to mtm and test
or
2) can i record the script(steps) in mtm and run the automation testing in mtm, if you say yes what are the step.
Plz help me out for both 1 and 2 by tell the steps.

It is based on the detail requirement to choose them.
Do Coded UI test in visual studio 2012, we could record the action and playback, link tests to test case that in MTM, we also could base on the detail requirement to modify the code.
Do manual or automated test in MTM 2012, we also could record the action and playback, but can’t modify the code (need do it in vs), we could do automated tests in lab environment

I am not able to capture any objects of my web application using coded ui recorder. Even though it is a simple html page, coded ui is showing a message -"Interface not registered(Exception from HRESULT:0X...."

How to handle jquery and ajax call in single page application using coded ui

Hi,
I am facing a very tricky situation while using coded ui. My application interact with ajax and I was facing the issue to handle the ajax in the login page and other pages. and got solution for my problem. Now when ever a ajax is getting called in the page its getting handle with app config file. However the issue I am facing right now is.
When i click on a button a window will appear which is actually a "div tag". Please see the image below. In the that window when I have to select a item from drop down, the ajax will get called, however it will get called only for the window,
it wont be called for the entire page.. i.e. it will update only the window. I am not able to handle this ajax call, script gets stuck in refresh state. I will request you guys to provide a work around for it.
I would like to add more details - Visual studio version - 2013 update 3, IE11.
Application details: Its a single page application which uses bootstrap framework. All the ajax call are dynamic.

The window is not exactly a pop up window. Its a div tag in the same page. As this is my first time to work on a single page application I am not sure how it works. For the entire page I am able to handle the ajax call however the action performed
in the div tag is not getting handled.

I agree the point the UI has to be active or else the script will have issue during the playback. In my scenario I have to work on that window. I have to perform action on it. Now when the window(div thing) comes up the page in the background goes disable
till the action is performed on the window or the window is closed. I have to perform action on it then only I can proceed with the TC automation. Please let me know any option to solve this problem.

Automated Test in C# Need to get at JQuery Data on Page Test

Hello I am visiting an URL using Selenium/C#/IEDriver and clicking around the page just fine (automated test).
Now I have a drop down that is a Kendo (shown)
I have been able to PRINT to output those values shown using:

How do I select one of those options in my C# Code? Can someone just please, please put the actual code here? You can see my variables. You can see that I can print the text of this "listbox". For once in my life I would
really appreciate a straightforward answer where someone just plopped the 4 lines of code I need here - I would be so grateful, as I have helped many with headless automated testing and I just gave them the answers.

Hi Alistair,
there is no name for this process since it is not an APEX process. The mod_plsql or
PL/SQL embedded Gateway code is responsible for this. That's also the reason why
this must be configured in the modplsql's dads.conf file.
The insertion of files into WWV_FLOW_FILES is a process which you cannot
influence in an APEX environment. What you can do is coding an onSubmit process
which SELECTs the file from WWV_FLOW_FILES and inserts it into your own
table ... but the file will always take the path via WWV_FLOW_FILES

Electrical Engineer with automated test experience looking for job in San Antonio Area

I am an Electrical Engineer with 33 years of experience. Much of my experience involves computer programming with an emphasis on electrical systems, either controlling equipment or automated testing. I have experience in numerous languages, most recently LabView, LabWindows/CVI, and TestStand, but also including 'C', Visual Basic, FORTRAN, and Z80 assembler. I have most recently worked in the MS Windows environment, but I have worked in the UNIX environment as well.
In addition to programming I have done some hardware design and equipment specification. I have done drafting of schematics in Visio, but I also have some experience with AutoCAD. I have written user's manuals and done hardware/software integration. I feel I have a broad range of experience in many areas of engineering and programming. I also feel that my engineering background helps be to understand the needs of the customer and thus be better able to translate those needs into the control or test program they need.
I currently live in San Antonio, Texas and am looking for a job in this area. A job on the south side of Austin might be considered if I could tele-commute or work in my home with occasional trips, eg. weekly, to Austin.

Where should i found the executed automation test cases result in TestResult folder?

we are using VS2013, i have automated some coded ui test cases and executed from test explorer. once completed i am able to view the test result in the Test explorer window. But I am unable to view in the 'TestResult' folder under project location. (In The
Test result folder created IN & Out sub folder ) I think it should be create .trx file under TestResult folder. is there any configuration required.
Please guide me.

Thank you for posting in MSDN forum.
As far as I know that when we automated coded ui test cases from VS IDE, it is default that there have no the .trx file be created in the TestResult folder. However, there have a replace workaround that we can automate coded ui test cases using MSTest.exe
in command line. And then we can get the .trx file be created in the TestResult folder.
So you can execute the /resultsfile command to get the .trx file using mstest.exe in command line.

Interesting db mail issue. If i click send test mail from sql mgmt studio, it works fine, but when i execute a SP to send a mail, it fails. One thing I noticed is that the "LastModified" column in the mail log shows the domain account when a test
mail was sent from mgmt studio, but show "sa" when the SP was used to send mail.
This is from SQL 2012, did not see this in sql 2008, looks like 2008 always used the service account. any ideas ?

I also use SQL Server 2012. I send a test email through SQL Server Management and the last modified By “sa”.
If you used stored procedure to send a test email. Please use the command below:

@body = 'The stored procedure finished successfully.',
@subject = 'Automated Success Message' ;
I can both send test email through SQL Server Management Studio and SP. Make sure you have the right profile. Since you could send test mail via SQL Server Management Studio, please try again to send it via SP.

WS Automated testing

Hi,
Does anyone know of an open source tool for automated testing of web services? I guess something like Apache Lataka but for WS. Ideally Im looking for something which allows conversational state to be maintained and referenced, maybe the interactions are configured rather than coded, and behind the scenes a WSDL is used to generate the appropriate client stubs.
I googled for a while - so not hopeful, but I'd appreciate any tips.

Forms and Reports: Automated Test tools - functionality AND performance

All,
I'm looking to get a few leads on an automated test tools that may be used to validate Oracle forms and reports (see my software configuration below). I'm looking for tools that can automate both functional tests and performance. By this I mean;
Functional Testing:
* Use of shortcut keys
* Navigation between fields
* Screen organisation (filed locations)
* Exercise forms validation (bad input values)
* Provide values to forms and simulate user commit, and go and verify database state is as expected
Performance Testing:
* carry out tests for fixed user load
* carry out tests for scaled step increase in user load
* automated collection of log files and metrics during test

Your question is unclear. As IK mentioned, the only tool you need is a new version of Oracle Forms/Reports. Open your v10 modules in a v11 Builder and select Save. You now have a v11 module. Doing a "Compile All PL/SQL" before saving is a good idea, but not required. The Builders and utilites provided with the version 11 installation are the only supported tools for upgrading your application. If you are trying to do the conversion of many Forms files in a scripted manner, you can use the Forms compiler in a script. Generating new "X" files will also update the source modules (fmb, mmb, pll). See MyOracleSupport Note 955143.1
Also included in the installation in the Forms Migration Assistant. Although it is more useful to people coming from older versions, it can also be used to move from v10 to 11. It allows you to select more than one file at a time. Documentation for this utility can be found in the Forms Upgrade Guide.
