Clustering app server
Is Oracle Infrastructure required for clustering OHS/OC4J app server? If not, how is the cluster setup and managed?
Sorry for the beginner questions, but I've never used Oracle before. I am evaluating porting a J2EE app that currently runs in Weblogic to 9iAS.
I have my application working in OC4J standalone, but need to support clustering. The docs say that only OC4J instances in a Farm can be clustered, but I'm not sure how to create a farm. I would like to be able to run OHS on one machine and have mod_oc4j load balance between multiple OC4J instances on multiple machines if possible. As a starting point, I've installed "Oracle9iAS J2EE and Web Cache v9.0.3".
Do I need to create a farm, or can I specify different host machines for each OC4J instance without one?

Wls 7.0 sp2 proxy plugin issue with iplanet6.x and wls 6.1 sp3 app server
Hi,
I've a setup with iplanet 6.x webserver using the wls 7.0 sp2 proxy plugin to
route requests to the clustered app server instances (2 of them) that are in wls
6.1 sp3.
The issue is, I'm noticing that the session is not sticky and is getting routed
onto the other app server instance. The error that I see in the wlproxy.log is
as follows:
*******Exception type [PROTOCOL_ERROR] raised
at line 654 of URL.cpp
Thu Nov 13 11:30:08 2003 failure on sendRequest() w/ recycled connection
to Instance1:7001, numfailures=1
Thu Nov 13 11:30:08 2003 Marking Instance1:7001 as bad
Thu Nov 13 11:30:08 2003 got exception in sendRequest phase:

Thu Nov 13 11:30:08 2003 Failing over after sendRequest exception

Has anyone seen this issue? Can anyone explain why this issue is occuring.?
Thanks.Did you find a solution for this problem?
I have somthing very similar going on where I am currently working.
Thanks!

Clustered Application server problem
Hi All
How does the address from clustered Application servers get resolved by J2ee?
I have a strange problem while working on Clustered App server on RAC.
After deploying the code on the server, the individul instances of the application seem to work perfectly, however the main URL(The one that should ideally resolve the n children URL) seem to give a lot of problems.
Can someone shed light on this?
Thanks
GNI'll go ahead and answer my own question on this one, just in case it may save someone the research it took us to figure this one out. It turns out we were running MS Server 2003 SP1. There is a hotfix patch in SP2 that addresses the inability to put the object code on one server in the cluster and the print server on the other server in the cluster. Strange that it worked fine with COBOL code - I guess because it came across as plain text files with no grapics. After installing the hotfix on the server, it handles the CR file just fine.

Sql Server 2012 Cluster IP Responses to MS Dynamics APP server broadcasts
Hi All,
We are facing issues in our brand new MS Dynamics AX 2012 R3 installation with clustered MS SQL 2012.
The DB server responses to the APP servers is like broadcasting to every system connected to the subnet. In our case that subnet is 192.168.2.0/24. But the packets sent from the AOS / APP server is not refelecting on other machines. We haven't made any changes
to the routing / switching config after the installation.
Attaching a screenshot for your reference.
Please guide us on what can be done to find the cause and solve it
Thanks,
Sriram A DasHi D. Graf,
According to my knowledge, you can choose the order (each server's IP address-> SQL Server instance IP-> Failover cluster instance IP) to change these IP addresses.
And before the process, please take SQL Server Cluster Instance Offline in Failover Cluster Manager . For more details, please review the following articles.
How to change the IP address of the cluster nodes hosting a SQL Server instance
http://iamoffthebus.wordpress.com/2012/03/30/how-to-change-the-ip-address-of-the-cluster-nodes-hosting-a-sql-server-instance/
Change the IP Address of a Failover Cluster Instance
http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms190460(v=sql.110).aspx
In addition, about network adapter issues and cluster nodes issues, I would like to
recommend you post the question in the Windows
server clustering forum at
https://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/windowsserver/en-US/home?forum=winserverClustering
. It is appropriate and more experts will assist you.

Legacy java app & Web Logic App Server
Hi,
We have a legacy java application that we like to provide an EJB layer
for.
The legacy application provides a servelet interface, event queues, our
own
JDBC Conn Pools, etc...
Can we integerate legacy java code into the Web Logic App Server? That
is,
we like to use the Weblogic's api's for servelets and JDBC conn pools.
We would also
like to use the clustering feature to provide failover. Also, our
application creates bunches of
threads. Do we need to rewrite this code to use Weblogics thread
creation techniques?
If this cannot be done,
another option would be to provide an EJB layer where the entity beans
would map to
elements in the legacy application using our own version of the
connector.
Then the app server would only encapsulate the EJB
layer. Could we still use your JDBC Conn Pools and other services in
the java legacy app?
Still the problem with this solution is that we can't use your
clustering scheme around our legacy app,
or can we?
Any help would be appreciated.
-- tonyIt can even be a standard production scenario if you want to run Oracle Portal 11g on a single box. The single sign-on part typically requires you to install an AS 10g SSO server which co-exists with other components such as WebLogic server.
Notice that there is a sharp division between everything which is inherit from the old OAS, the so-called instance components, typically started with OPMN and the new WLS stuff. -
JDeveloper SOA Suite App Server connection issue
I am having an issue in JDeveloper connecting to SOA Suite deployed on an Amazon EC2 instance. From the application server tab, I can successfully create a new app server connection to SOA Suite (all 9 tests in the "Test Connection" run successfully). However, after that when I try to expand the SOA folder under the app server tab, I get a "javax.naming.CommunicationException", shown below. All the other folders (Clusters, Servers, Deployments, Web Services) expand and show the proper information without error.
One thing I notice is that an explicit IP of 10.80.47.145 using T3 protocol is listed in the error, as opposed to the host name of the Amazon EC2 instance over http. But I am not sure how to change that in JDeveloper's configuration for the app server. And it doesn't make sense why that is the only folder that errors out.
Thanks in advance for any help.
Jim.

Using the App Server DAS to access "my" MBeans on cluster servers
I am wanting to use JMX to access some custom MBeans that are on server instances that are participating in app server clusters. I figured the way to do this is by connecting to the DAS, but the service groups don't show within the DAS (like when using JConsole), I can access other AMX services, but not my custom ones. I can access my MBeans if I directly connect to the app servers.
Any ideas? I am trying to keep my jmx client from having to know physical location of the clustered servers, and only knowing about the DAS.
Thanks,
ScottHi,
I am not an Application Server expert so I won't be able to answer your question
directly - but maybe the article 'Managing and Monitoring Web Services in
Project GlassFish' could be of help:
http://developers.sun.com/prodtech/appserver/reference/techart/ws_mgmt.html
There's also the doc on docs.sun.com which you may already know:
Chapter 20 Using the Application Server Management Extensions
http://docs.sun.com/app/docs/doc/819-3659/6n5s6m5ck?a=view
If you still don't get your answer - you may also want to visit the glassfish project:
https://glassfish.dev.java.net/ (perhaps join its user's mailing list?)
or The Aquarium: http://blogs.sun.com/theaquarium which has lots of interesting
tips and articles.
Hope this helps,

Hello
i am using forms 6i with forms server on port=9000 with connect mode=socket, it is running without any problem.
now i want to switch my application server with oc4j or application server 9i. i have installed developer 10g with oc4j and oc4j is running successfully i have test to run form 10g.
any idea how to run my form 6i on oc4j i tried to test to change parameter in formsweb.cfg port=8889 and connectmode=HTTP but it shows nothing when i run.

aaksIn memory session replication doesn't use file's. So if replication is not
working, it is misconfigured.
1. Modify simplesession.jsp to print session.getId();
2. Hit servers directly one after another, and post the response back.

Using Office Web Apps Server with SharePoint Foundation 2013
I want to know whether I can configure Office Web Apps server to edit Excel documents on a SharePoint Foundation 2013 site.
I came across a TechNet article that states that "When used together with SharePoint Server 2013, Office Web Apps Server provides updated versions of Word Web App, Excel Web App, PowerPoint Web App, and OneNote Web App".
However, later in the same article, it states "If your organization licenses Office 2013 through a Volume Licensing program, you can enable Office Web Apps editing for SharePoint 2013 on-premises" (without mentioning Foundation or Server).Hi Lemesnil,
The Office Web App server should support the Edit licenses for SharePoin Foundation 2013, Office Web App is free to
download, you can also try installing and configuring in a test environment, see more from the below article applied to SharePoint Foundation 2013.

hi, i am running a background job in bw and for that created a file on the application server.now how do i delete that file.to create the file i just gave the name in the bw and the file got created.i am not able to find how to delete it.
or
rather than deleting the file how can we delete the data it is containing.please do let me knowhi,
but using DELETE DATASET u can remove file for app server.
If u want to delete the data alone then give the same name without data it will overwrite.
U can check it in AL11.

Previously I am able to start the server and was able to test an application. But, this time somehow it failed to start.
I have checked the port numbers whether they are in use. But, all the port numbers required for the app server are free. I have checked it through "netstat -a".
thanks in advance,

Error in downloading jars through jnlp from Oracle 10.1.3 App Server
I am working on migrating an application (containing two WARs) from Resin servlet server to Oracle 10.1.3 App Server. The migration was unit tested successfully. One of the WARs was implemented as a web service that downloaded JARs to the client PC through jnlp. When I tried to combine the two WARs into one (application) WAR, some of the JARs failed to download with an error message stating that they were "corrupted". 5 of the 6 "corrupted" contain native code, although two other native code JARs were able to download successfully.
Most of the time the jnlp failure was accompanied with this error: WARNING: Exception returned by remote server: {0}

Why is the jnlp failing when the WARs are part of the (main) application, but OK when it is part of a web service WAR? How can I overcome this problem?
Thanks for your help.Hi Marc ,
Thanks for your reply.....
Did you mentioning the script (upgrade_10131_
10133_oracle.sql) in the orabpel. I had run this script after applying the patch.
Still iam facing the same issue.
what need to be done?
Could you please help me on this, because I need to do the Fault Handling Framework in BPEL and so i need the faultpolicy folder to be present.
Since I got the folder by applying the patch, but what happend is when i try to check out for the activity status in the BPEL Console Activity tab it is showing the error as mentioned earlier. Any problem with patch implementation or any bug is there. So far i done the patch installation successfully without error and i upgraded the orabpel schema using the mentioned script also. Any other things i need to do?

How to set up database for form application in app. server 10g r2
Hi Friends and Bgrant.
I get user compiled fmb file.
I did not find componant in app. server.
However, I can see form server ment with 3 subitem : form compiler, formmigration and run form on the web.
The form application is supported by database. Other person already configured server for application .
I put a URL in URL field in run form on the web. I can see install ed successfully! Oracle application Server. Forme server. Oracle application server 10g. title: welcome oracle application server
after clicked OK button, the page is grey blank without any inforamtion to be displayed. No error message. status bottome as done. the page title as Oracle application server form server.
SO I think that i need to creade a datasource in app. server.
But I do not know how to fill field.
I can log into database from SQL*plus in server PC.
In datasource page in app. server: i copy a default ORCALEDS information
with new ID and password. it does not work
hereData Source Class:
JDBC URL :
JDBC Driver:
Location
Transactional(XA) Location
EJB Location
Thanks for any help!!
jimThanks for help!
I fixed issue of database connection with new issue.
Only display first form setting (first URL) for 4 different URL
URL:
http://salerpt.com/forms/frmservlet?config=emis-srmenu
fmx file Location as C:\OraMid\forms\salerpt-Forms fmx name as srmenu.fmx in same directory
fmb file location as C:\OraMid\forms\salerpt-Forms_source fmx name as srmenu.fmb in same directory
# Single Sign-On OID configuration parameter
oracle_home=C:\OraMid
in formweb.cfg file
baseHTMLjinitiator=basejini.htm
workingDirector : workingDirectory= blank. but C:\OraMid\forms\salerpt-Forms right now
# Forms runtime argument: which form module to run
##form=test.fmx
## i moved bottom section of form section in here and before
line as Forms runtime argument: database connection details
comment two line
#jinit_exename=jinit.exe
#jinit_mimetype=application/x-jinit-applet;version=1.3.1.22
I create 4 sections as
form=srmenu.fmx
width=1200
height=700
pageTitle=Sale Information System (SIS)
form=xxxx
net 3 form setting
However it only display one form interface that i put in( 4 different URL. only display first URL)
It seems that one formsweb.cfg, it doesn not support multip form application.
I have 4 small forms application with 4 URL for one formsweb.cfg.
What should I need to do?
I am waiting for your help!

HELP - DB2 v9 & App Server PE 9.0 - PING Connection Pool Failure - HELP
I've been playing around with Studio Creator and DB2 v9 without any issues.
So I figured I would installed App Server PE 9 and use this as my production server that I would deploy to from studio creator.
However, in my efforts to set up db2/v9 I have been trying to ping a connection pool without any luck. I get the following message:
Operation 'pingConnectionPool' failed in 'resources' Config Mbean. Target exception message: Connection could not be allocated because: [sunm][DB2 JDBC Driver]Resource Limits Reached( ALLOCATE MEMORY FOR NEW SQLSTT FAILED ). Diagnostic Info: FUNCTION ID = 0049 , PROBE POINT = 0400 , TRACE POINT = 0030 , SUBCODE1 = 8B0F0000, SUBCODE2 = 78A68A98, SUBCODE3 = 00000000, ERROR MSG = Parser: Memory allocation error.
My datasource class name is com.sun.sql.jdbcx.db2.DB2DataSource.
And my resource type is javax.sql.datasource
I have copied smbase.jar, smdb2.jar and smutil.jar into c:\sun\appserver\lib
and I have all of the properties (serverName, portNumber, databaseName, user, password) created and set accordingly.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Here is how I got the DB2 Express-C and Sun PE 9.0 to work. ( at least base connectivity wise )
1. ) You have to have at least the DB2 Client installed on the system that will be communicating to the DB2 instance.
2.) The following jars will be needed ( depending on the driver type used) . db2java.zip, db2jcc.jar, and db2jcc_license_cu.jar and use them in the App Server ->JVM settings -> Path Settings -> Classpath Suffix
3.) The next setup is dependent on the Type driver you use
I used the Type 4 and this is the resource setup I used.
Connection Pool:
Name: DB2TestPool
Datasource Classname: com.ibm.db2.jcc.DB2SimpleDataSource
Resource Type: javax.sql.ConnectionPoolDataSource
Properties:
user: xxxxxx
password: xxxxxx
databaseName: TEST
serverName: <hostname of machine>
portnumber: 50000
driverType: 4
URL: jdbc:db2://<hostname>:<port>/<database>
JDBC Resource:
JNDI Name: jdbc/TEST
Pool Name: DB2TestPool
With this configuration I was able to ping the database as well as connect to create an entity bean from a table. This should give you a starting point.
I have yet to deploy my application, but should be doing that sometime today to verify that a connection can be made and used from within the application.
