Clustering in SOA

Hi,
How we can differenate the clusetring in Active-Active or Active - Passive in Oracle SOA environement.

Kumar

What version are you interested in? There are suitable High Availability config options in the enterprise deployment guide:

  • WSS security and clustering  in SOA Suite 11g

We are calling one composite from another as a reference. Both are on the same clustered domain.
We are using AIA WSDLs so there is a default WSS username password token as policy.
While on the single server domain, we do not need to pass the credentials since request was going on the same Weblogic server and it was running fine.
But when we moved to the clustered domain, we changed the endpoints in composites to an external hardware load balancer and now it needs the sercurity credentials because the request is coming via the load balancer running on the different machine.
    I have two queries:
    1. Is there a way we can skip external load balancer while calling composites within the same clustered domain and still be able to route the requests to all managed servers instead of only one? (may be there is a way we can provide multuple URLs in the composite somehow or any other setting on cluster which would enable us to send all the requests to a common hostname which will route it to multiple managed servers in round robin)
    2. If above is not possible then we will have to use the external load balancer, in which case I need to set username password tokens while calling different composites. I need help in configuring this. It would be nice if anyone can provide me a link to a sample may be.
    Thanks

In 11g, Oracle WSM Agent has been integrated into Oracle WebLogic Server. Please refer below link for more details -

  • Can a SMB (server message block) be used as our file share in clustered OSB/SOA instance instead of a NAS?

We like to know if a SMB (server message block) will be adequate as our file share as opposed to a NAS. The SMB will be used for hosting files (e.g.: plan.xml, jms persistent stores, adapter control files, property files, binary files,...) that our services (OSB, SOA, Java) will be accessing in a cluster.
Also, is this a recommended approach that Oracle certifies?
Let me know if you need more details.
    Current instance details:
    OS: AIX 6.1
    Type: 64-bit
    WLS: 10.3.6

    Hi,
As far as I know and as suggested by Mahdi, there is no such Group Policy settings which can help us to achieve this.
However, as also suggested by Mahdi, we can ask for help in the following scripting forum to see whether some scripts can help achieving this.
    The Official Scripting Guys Forum
    https://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/scriptcenter/en-US/home?forum=ITCG
If we can get such a script, we can use Group Policy to deploy the script to clients.

  • Howto access clustered direct binding Endpoint from OSB - SOA?

    Hello,
I have one question in a clustered osb / soa envoirement. I a single instance to access a soa endpoint from the osb I use
    t3://serverip:8001/default/myProject/showUserDirectBinding
what do I have to to if I have a a Cluster?
I know i the WLS Console I have to add the Cluster Adress serverip1:8001 serverip2:8001
But what to configure in the OSB Direct Binding?
    t3://serverip1:8001/default/myProject/showUserDirectBinding, t3://serverip2:8001/default/myProject/showUserDirectBinding ?
    Thanks you for you help
    Kind Regards
    Ben

    Hello Anuj,
thank you for the quick response. I was just updating my post. My expectation is, that there has to be a cluster adress defined. Because when using lot of nodes, like 100+ or attaching new nodes to the cluster, i would be a bad way to always be forced to update the projects and deploy again.
For setting the cluster adress i have found the documentation :
    http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E14571_01/core.1111/e12036/extend_soa.htm#insertedID18
It is some how missleading. I can enter multiple cluster adresses here, why should I do this? How is this adress propagated to the nodes? And is this port custom? Or is this just a List of the Cluster Nodes, but where would be my cluster adress then?
A Simpler Question, if I enter to my osb cluster the clusteraddress osbfoobar:1234 would the cluster(osb1:8001, osb2:8001) be accessable through osbfoobar:1234?
    Kind Regards

  • SOA / OSB upgrade to 11.1.1.5 approach to follow

    Hi,
Currently have the below products and need to upgrade to 11.1.1.5
    2-Node clusters of
    SOA 11.1.1.2
    OSB 10gR3
Now need to upgrade both to 11.1.1.5 version. What approach is better.
Upgrade SOA 11.1.1.2 to 11.1.1.5 (What are the risks of upgrading the existing domain as compared to the last approach)
    Install OSB 11.1.15
    OR
Install both SOA and OSB in one Domain. What benefits does in give when installing SOA-OSB in one domain. As need to do clustering also so it a goos approach to have both OSB/SOA part of one domain.
    OR
Install from scratch SOA and OSB in different domains and then migrate the processes and osb services
Will appreciate if someone can share on thoughts around the best approach to follow.
    Thanks

Yes, before upgrading to OSB 11.1.1.5 you need to upgrade WLS.
As OSB is a full installer, there is no need to upgrade to 11.1.1.4 before moving to 11.1.1.5.
As it stands, what you have isn't supported - OSB 11.1.1.3 isn't tested using WLS 10.3.4.

  • OSB and SOA Suite in the Java Cloud

Hi All -- the question is rather to a technical support personnel of the Oracle Cloud,
Is it possible to deploy and run the OSB and SOA Suite applications on the Oracle Java Cloud? To be more precise:
    1. Is the WL server in the cloud configured to contain the Oracle Soa Suite?
    2. Is the WL server in the cloud configured to contain the Oracle Service Bus?
If not: would it be possible to configure the Cloud WL domains the way that these are supported?
What we need are two servers (or two clusters): a SOA Suite application runs on one, while the OSB application runs on the other.
    Thanks for help.

    Hi Chris,
Oracle's statement of direction that you can find at
    http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/integration/service-bus/docs/Oracle-Service-Bus-SOD.pdf
there will be convergence of the 2 products that basically address 2 different use cases (see Statement of Direction).
In my opinion new tools will be added to Jdeveloper to develop and deploy on Oracle Service Bus (OSB). In present OSB version, OSB tools are not part of Jdeveloper and transformations use XQuery instead of XSLT (as for Oracle ESB).
Hope this help you a little bit.

    Jean-Pierre

  • BAM Cluster setup - issue with whole server migration configuration

    HI,
We are working on a SOA , BAM , BPM Cluster setup on OEL VMs
    With Admin server running on Host1 and Soa_server1, BAM_server1 , Host2 - Soa_server2 , Bam_server2.
We were successfully able to setup clustering for Soa without using the webTier utilities in our environment, Just by adding entries in the /etc/hosts file.
Followed the document - except for web tier setup
    http://www.namredlek.nl/orasoa/InstallSOASuite11gOnCluster_v1.pdf
    1)     Installed Weblogic 11g.
    2)     Soa 11g.
    3)     Domain creation
    4) Configured Node manager
    5) Soa Clustering completed successfully.
    6) Domain up and running with SOA_Cluster up and running.
    7)     Extended the domain with BAM
The issue revolves when we are doing teh Migration configurations from the console for BAM and we restart BAM server we get an error -
    Apr 14, 2011 2:30:35 AM weblogic.nodemanager.server.Handler handleStart
WARNING: Exception while starting server 'bam_server1'
java.io.IOException: Command '/oracle/Shared_MWHome/user_projects/domains/SOA_Domain/bin/server_migration/wlsifconfig.sh -addif eth0 192.168.1.6 255.255.255.0 ' returned an unsuccessful exit code '1'. Check NM logs for script output.
and Bam server goes to Failed Not Restartable state.

The error is clearly out there
java.io.IOException: Command '/oracle/Shared_MWHome/user_projects/domains/SOA_Domain/bin/server_migration/wlsifconfig.sh -addif eth0 192.168.1.6 255.255.255.0 ' returned an unsuccessful exit code '1'. Check NM logs for script output.
This error occurs due to a failure in adding the virtual IP of BAM server to the network interface you have specified in nodemanager.properties.
You need to check whether you have specified the correct interface and subnet mask in node manager.properties as below :
The fourth step is to edit the Node Manager's properties file. This file is called nodemanager.properties
and is located in the ORACLE_BASE/product/osbmw/wlserver_10.3/common/nodemanager directory.
For server migration to work properly, you need to add the properties listed below:
    Interface=eth0
    NetMask=255.255.255.0
    UseMACBroadcast=true
    · Interface
This property specifies the interface name for the floating IP (for example, eth0).
    · NetMask
This property specifies the net mask for the interface for the floating IP. The net mask should the
same as the net mask on the interface; 255.255.255.0 is used as an example in this document.
    · UseMACBroadcast
This property specifies whether or not to use a node's MAC address when sending ARP packets,
that is, whether or not to use the -b flag in the arping command.

  • Design Time Repository question.

Hi, I'm clustering my SOA Suite per a consultant and this documentation:
    http://download-west.oracle.com/docs/cd/B31017_01/core.1013/b28939/j2ee.htm
In section 3.1.19 Configuring JNDIs for the Topic and Topic Connection Factory, it states:
Using Oracle Enterprise Manager 10g, follow these steps to configure JNDIs in the Design Time and both ESB repository instances.
Now I've followed these steps for the ESB repository, but I find it unclear as to what it's referencing with the "Design Time repository".
I'm having an issue where the SOAP WSDL's pull up without problem, but the SOAP Endpoint URI's always fail, and I'm wondering if this may have something to do with it.
    Thanks for your help!
    David

    Hi Paolo,
I am doubtful about the use of NDS. This is because the libraries available with NDS will be for WAS 6.40 and EP6 SP2 i feel is on WAS 6.20. I am really not sure about this but my main point is that there may be library version conflict issues.
I dont think there is any plugin available for DTR.
But then DTR is a WebDAV based server. Hence any WebDAV client should be able to solve your purpose.
But this is a good thread. Hope others will also provide their suggestions on this.

  • Failed to Deploy Workflow on Clustered SOA

    Hi,
We have developed a custom workflow which is working fine in the test environment which is a non clustered environment. However, now when we are deploying the same workflow on live SOA environment which is clustered, we are getting the error below. Can anyone guide how to fix this or identify which class path variables are creating problems. Does this have to do anything with clustering or not?

  • SOA suite clustering...

We are setting up SOA suite in clustered environmenet in one of our test projects which would be further be replicated to production
    env.
We have installed the oracle products in the following fashion.
    1. Installation of HTTP server and J2EE (Advanced SOA suite 10.1.3.1).
Have these to be done individually one after another or else how we have done in a single flow?
    2. Installation of BPEL Process Manager - 10.1.3.1 (separate installation on top
of oc4j home) Is this right or as suggested in the document from companion CD?
However we did not find any BPM components in the companion CD.
    3. Set the apps in cluster using multicast IP and the BPEL Managers in cluster using the
    collaxa*** files.
    4. Can you let me know the right time to apply the 10.1.3.3 patch during this whole clustering setup?
    5. Regarding testing....can you let us know the way in which we can get to know on which BPM server the process has
executed? Do any of the logs indicate on this?
    5. Can a hot backup/online of the installation files be used in future for recovery purpose or else we need
to stop the servers and initiate the backup?
    6. Please suggest some good software for software load balancer.
    7. Let me know if there are any limitations on usage of filesystem for cluster installation
? eg. Can we use nfs filesystem or shall we use only local filesystem ?
    Thanks,
    Rosh

  • SOA Suite 11g Clustering error/oracle bug ?

Hi, i got several experiment to implement soa suite 11g clustering, in my company.. at this moment we still use development mode in our application server. now i'm trying to get into production and also i want cluster the server.. here is the chronology what i do.
    i got 3 server :
    my plan is
server #1 become an proxy server, let say the name is soa_proxy
server #2 become an cluster node, let say the name is soa_server1
server #3 become an cluster node, let say the name is soa_server2
so i start install & configure it (applications is running under Windows Server 2003)
    1.*soa_proxy*
    - Installing WebLogic server
    - Installing SOA
    - Create Repository with RCU (oracle 10g database)
    2.*soa_server1*
    - Installing WebLogic server
    - Installing SOA
    3.*soa_server2*
    - Installing WebLogic server
    - Installing SOA
after installation finished, then i create domain in soa_proxy server let say it name 'MyDomain', then i assign the soa_server1 and soa_server2 in cluster node named 'MyCluster', also i assign the soa_proxy server as a HTTP Proxy Server.. i'm following the instructions just like this link Link: [http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E12839_01/doc.1111/e13925/config_screens.htm#CJAEABGD]
all the installation seems good, but when i try to deploy my composite application into the proxy server 'soa_proxy' with JDev, i got error like this
    Image: !http://img9.imageshack.us/img9/2122/error2z.jpg!
and when i go to Http://hostname:7001/em
i just see my composite deployed only in 'soa_server2'.
UPDATE : well, now the error was gone when deploying. but we still got little odd result,
when i deploy with jdev, it still fine, until i go to the enterprise manager. yess still.. my composite only deplyed in 'soa_server1'. i got some reference that we can copy the domain directory in soa_proxy and then paste into the server that not yet been deployed before. its seems oke..
i've been thinking, how if i got 10 node of cluster? 50 node of cluster ? should i copy the directory just like that ?? is there another charmed way to do it???
can somebody help me with this simple case?
    regards

    =======
here is my last trial to deploy the cluster environment, then i just got the same issues, our team here think thats the issues causing by oracle bug in code behind. for reminder what i do last experiment
    1. we deploy/configure the domain (admin console, cluster node) then starting up all the services smoothly without no issues & as we saw in the console monitor we can see the cluster is syncronizing.
    2. then we create simple composite.
    3. we try to deploy the composite to the cluster domain, and what we got is the composite only deployed in one cluster node.
let me describe to clear it,
    * first trial, when we deploy the composite, here is what we got in em console
    *[-] SoaInfra (SoaServer1)*
    [+] CompositeLabTest
    *[-] SoaInfra (SoaServer2)*
in JDev we also saw this message (the project CompositeLabTest Deploy Process is skipped), some kind like that
    * second time trial, we try to shut the SoaServer2 down, then restart it, what we got in em console
    *[-] SoaInfra (SoaServer1)*
    [+] CompositeLabTest
    *[-] SoaInfra (SoaServer2)*
    [+] CompositeLabTest
. so until today my soa suite 11g clustering experience is never going good practice.. any of you may had experience with clustering too, how that can be done? please respon...
    thanks

    Hi there.
Me too I have a similar problem with cluster deployment.
I have two different domains in two different phisical machine on the same LAN.
These domains are equals and the sole difference is regarding the IP configuration:
    domain 1
    machine 172.0.0.1
    soaadmin 172.0.0.1
    soa1 172.0.0.2
    soa1 172.0.0.3
    domain 2
    machine 172.0.1.1
    soaadmin 172.0.1.1
    soa1 172.0.1.2
    soa1 172.0.1.3
When I try to deploy a new composite from the EM this fails (it remains in waiting for a response like the followed)
    <Jun 18, 2010 10:42:00 AM CEST> <Warning> <org.apache.myfaces.trinidadinternal.context.RequestContextImpl> <BEA-000000> <Could not find partial trigger idArchiveFileBrowserDialog from RichInputText[UIXEditableFacesBeanImpl, id=idArchiveLoc]>
    Processing sar=/tmp/dir2448127768139530528tmp/sca_SOAComposite1_rev1.0.jar
    Adding sar file - /tmp/dir2448127768139530528tmp/sca_SOAComposite1_rev1.0.jar
Creating HTTP connection to host:172.0.0.2, port:10002
    What I checked:
In multicast configuration soa1 (domain1) sent the request to all soa servers in the LAN (even in that one that aren't configurated in his domain)
In unicast configuration soa1 (domain1) sent the request only to the soa2 (domain1) server but it remain in waiting for a response for all the time.
What it is strange is that if I stop the domain2 the request can be performed and my composite is deployed in both the servers.
Any idea about this strange behaviour?
    N.B.
    I'm not using Coherence.

  • Quartz Scheduler in Oracle SOA 10g clustered environment

    Hi,
I was able to successfully test the usage of Quartz scheduler in our Oracle SOA 10g dev environment. Our dev is single instance where as our Test and Prod are clustered. I would like to know if the scheduler works in clustered environment. I wasn't able to find any documentation specific to Quartz for Bpel. If it can be done can you provide some guidance.
    I really appreciate your help
    Jagan.

    Jagan
The schedulers do work on cluster environment. The trick is that every node has its oc4j containers, so you will need to deploy the scheduler process to every node in the cluster.
Suppose you have two nodes, and have a requirement to run certain process every two hours. You schedule the process in DEV environment to run every two hours. But in cluster you will specify to run every four hours on both the nodes. In simple explanation, node 1 will fire the process at 0,4,8, ... hours and node 2 will fire at 2, 6, 10, ... hours. So, the result is that your process is still running every two hours.
    Hope this will help ...

  • AIA FP 2.4 on SOA suit 10.3.1.4 clustered environment

    Hi
I am trying to install the FP on top of my SOA 10.1.3.4 MLR5. This is a clustered environment.
As described, one should install the FP with ant on the admin member, with ant --noconfig FPInstall.xml
But it keeps failng at deploy AIAReadJMSNotificationProcess with ORABPEL-12529
It says it misses some adapters :
    AdapterFrameworkImpl::endpointActivation - Endpoint Activation Error.
The Resource Adapter  was unable to activate the endpoint :{} due to the following reason: ORABPEL-12529
    ManagedConnectionFactory problem.
Could not instantiate ManagedConnectionFactory oracle.tip.adapter.jms.JmsManagedConnectionFactory due to:
    Missing class: oracle.tip.adapter.jms.JmsManagedConnectionFactory
    Dependent class: oracle.tip.adapter.fw.wsdl.WSDLUtils
    Loader: oracle.bpel.common:10.1.3
    Code-Source: /opt/oracle/product/10.1.3/assoa/bpel/lib/orabpel.jar
    Configuration: <code-source> in /opt/oracle/product/10.1.3/assoa/j2ee/oc4j_soa/config/server.xml
This load was initiated at orabpel.root:0.0.0 using the Class.forName() method.
The missing class is not available from any code-source or loader in the system.
Please make sure the corresponding JCA Resource Adapter has been deployed.
Please correct the reported issue and redeploy the BPEL process.
These adapters are installed in the oc4j_esbdt as the install guide on soa clustering describes, and I think the deployment expects it to be in the oc4j_soa. Am I right? Does anyone know how to overcome these issues?
    kind regrds
    Michel

    Hi Michel,
    I found the solution myself
Just manually deploy the adapters in oc4j_soa the same as in oc4j_esbdt, now deployment goes ok.
Please excuse my ignorance. How do you manually deploy the adapters as mentioned above? Please give the details.
    Thanks,
    Amorsolo

  • SOA 12C Enterprise Deployment - Clustered

We are currently implementing 12c with OSB(Oracle Service Bus), OTD (Oracle Traffic Director) and SOA
AS you can imagine the build has a number of SOA composites.
IN our Test and Production environments, we have 2 nodes per cluster, and we have separate OSB and SOA clusters. We also make use of MDS
Now to set the scene, a number of our SOA composites call other down stream composites.
As an example a payment composite may call a create customer composite as part of its process.
The way we have configured this all is the SOA Composites point to MDS, and the WSDL (Endpoint URL) contains the URL for the second service.
We currently have a situation where if a service is called on Node1, it will always call the downstream services on Node1 due to the fact that the MDS wsdl has the NODE1 endpoint Url Hard coded.
Obviously this does not make sense in a clustered environment, as such i am seeking assistance from the community on what the best practice is in this situation.
    Our current thoughts are
         1) Have the MDS wsdls point at a load balacer (potentially OTD or some other LBR) which will then distribute the traffic down stream
         2) Have the SOA composites point at an OSB proxy, which does load balancing to the downstream SOA composites
         3) Somehow configure the MDS wsdls to have the end points generate dynamically at run time (hopefully this will then automatigically distribute the load)
    Any advice is welcome

I think what you're looking for is "callback url"(in enterprise manager) and "frontend host/port" (in weblogic console -> cluster -> http tab).
    hope it helps
