Clusterware installation 10.2.0.1
Hi!
I have trouble with clusterware installation.
I use two VM's with Centos 5.3
./vipca
/u01/app/oracle/product/10.2.0/crs/jdk/jre//bin/java: error while loading shared libraries: libpthread.so.0: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory
Then I marked out this lines in vipca -->
#Remove this workaround when the bug 3937317 is fixed
# arch=`uname -m`
# if [ "$arch" = "i686" -o "$arch" = "ia64" ]
# then
# LD_ASSUME_KERNEL=2.4.19
# export LD_ASSUME_KERNEL
# fi
#End workaround
Now I got this problem:
./vipca
PRKH-1010 : Unable to communicate with CRS services.
[Communications Error(Native: prsr_initCLSS:[3])]

[Communications Error(Native: prsr_initCLSS:[3])]
PRKH-1010 : Unable to communicate with CRS services.
[Communications Error(Native: prsr_initCLSS:[3])]
How do I fix my problem?

Ken

Important points to install 10gR2 oracle RAC in linux5.
1.LINUX 5(Redhat 5) doesn't have /etc/sysconfig/rawdevices file. so we have to configure it.
2. Edit the /etc/redhat-release version to redhat-4 and and to invoke the runInstaller use the command
$runInstaller -ignoreSysPrereqs. //this will bypass the os check //
3. Next during clusterware installation at the end of root.sh in node 2 end with error message. So we have adjust the parameters in vipca and srvctl files.
4. vipca will fail to run. so we have to adjust some parameters and configure it manually.
refer the link, it will be useful to you to complete your installation.

Silent Clusterware Installation Question
Hello -
I am attempting to run a silent installation of Clusterware. I am installing on Linux, and here is part of my script:
/oracle_software/11g_clusterware/clusterware/runInstaller -silent -responseFile \
$ORA_SCRIPTS/RAC_installation_pckg/crs.rsp
However, I want the above process to finish in the script before going to the part of my script that runs the root commands for the installation. Currrently, the call to the command itself completes, and then the script goes to the part to run the root commands, while the above installation is still running. How can I get it to only call the root commands after the Clusterware installation has completed? Can I make use of wait command in my Linux script?
Any help or insight is greatyly appreciated!
Thanks,

Edited by: Eren GULERYUZ on 06.Ara.2010 05:57Hi,
it looks like, that your "shared device" you are using is not really shared.
The second node does "create an ASM diskgroup" and create OCR and Voting disks. If this indeed would be a shared device, he should have recognized, that your disk is shared.
So as a result your VMware configuration must be wrong, and the disk you presented as shared disk is not really shared.
Which VMWare version did you use? It will not work correctly with the workstation or player edition, since shared disks are only really working with the server version.
If you indeed using the server, could you paste your vm configurations?
Furthermore I recommend using Virtual Box. There is a nice how-to:

Oracle 10g Clusterware installation
Hi,
I am installing Oracle Clusterware 10.2.0.1 on LINUX RHEL 5 on Virtualbox.
I can't seem to get out of the problem in running the root.sh during the installation. Below is my error.

I have set the environment variables already of LD_LIBRARY_PATH and also the LDCONFIG consists of the $ORACLE_HOME\lib and permissions are set for oracle user and the group oinstall.
Please help me on this one. kind of stuckPlease run the following commands and post here.
env | grep ORA
env | grep PATH
ls -l $ORACLE_HOME/lib/libclntsh*Also check your LD_LIBRARY_PATH setting. Its probably something missing or incorrect in the environment.

Odd, the fourth word of you question is "installing" but somebody felt the need to move this from "Installing" to "Oracle Clusterware". Since I don't follow this forum I will show you the results of my Red Hat 5 command :

Oracle 11g clusterware installation issue.
In our test lab, we are facing the following issue.Kindly help us to resolve this issue.
Environment Details
O/S : Oracle Enterprise Linux

The nodes are created using vmware.
All the pre installation checks using clufvy utility are successful.
During Installation of clusterware software, we need to run root.sh at the end on all the nodes. We have 2 node cluster. Root.sh runs successfully on node 1, but fails on node 2.

Multiple 11gR2 Clusterware installations on the same subnet using GNS
Hi,
I am hoping someone could shed some light on an issue I appear to have regarding the installation of 11gR2 Clusterware. The main issue is that I have a host-vip.subdomain that fails to startup on installation. This is my 3rd cluster in my environment; the other 2 installed/configured ..fine. This install fails because the host-vip.subdomain does not resolve with its own GNS service.
Further investigation lead me down a path involving my other clusters. I found in my DNS server /var/log/messages file that the host-vip.subdomain was trying to resolve to host-vip.subdmain.subdomain_clust1 on IP xx.xxx.130.20. However, this cluster's GNS service is listening on xx.xxx.130.22
More detail on the environment:
I currently have in production, two 2-node clusters. Not RAC..just 2-node linux clusters; On the production clusters, I do have a single-instance database running in a 'warm failover' configuration. I do use SCAN to access each of the database on their respective clusters.
I am using GNS and DHCP (obviously) to generate the VIPs for each cluster. Cluster1 GNS IP - xx.xxx.130.20 ; Cluster2 GNS IP xx.xxx.130.21. Both are configured in DNS and resolve the SCAN address to each of the VIPs on that server.
When testing SCAN access to the database, I noticed that a tnsping DB1 - which uses SCAN-name1.subdomain1 connects fine. Also, tnsping to DB2 using SCAN-name2.subdomain2 connects fine as well.
However, the weird part is that if I use each others subdomain..they still connect ...ie....tnsping DB1 using SCAN-name1.subdomain2 ...still connects to DB1.. albeit , it takes about 10x longer to get a response.
This has lead me to the idea that since GNS is basically a mDNS service, broadcasting on the subnet .130...could it be possible that ANY GNS service on that subnet could resolve a name lookup request for any other GNS on the same subnet , and during installation of a new server, cause a new VIP to go to the wrong GNS service ?
So, my question is this : Is there any requirement I may have missed that state multiple Clusters using GNS / SCAN MUST BE on different subnets, as to not interfere with each other's lookup requests ?
Any info would be helpful
~ AllanWas able to override the multicast address thru the command line and have just P1 work with
the following overrides.
-Dtangosol.coherence.clusteraddress=P1Cluster -Dtangosol.coherence.clusterport=11111
where p1Cluster=224.2.1.99 (say)

Problems Detecting Disks Clusterware Installation
Hi guys, I need some urgent help!
I'm trying to install a 2 node cluster database on a Windows 2008 R1 64-bit OS for a production environment. For the datafiles I have some shared disks from an emc clariion CX3.
I've prepared the disks enabling automount, disabling write cache, and creating the RAW partitions.
The problems is that during clusterware setup, after getting all cluster verification ok, I can't see any disks in "Cluster Configuration Storage" screen.
I've tried with Oracle Clusterware Release 1 (11.1.0.7.0) and Oracle Clusterware Release 2 (10.2.0.4).
Am I doing something wrong?
What is the best practice regarding the disks scenario. My original idea was leaving the Oracle Homes in the OS disk and put all the database files in an OCFS shared disk.
Thank you
João AlmeidaHi,
I was having this problem as well setting up a test Windows 2008x64 environment for benchmarking and possibly transitioning our production systems
I fixed the issue by creating the drives and partitions using diskpart.exe and not the disk manager gui.
The gui only allowed me to create volumes in my 2008 environment. When extended partitions and logical drives were created at command line (on my third attempt to have the installation 'see' the drives) the Oracle Clusterware software picked up the shared drives available for ASM.
Previously the cluvfy was recognizing the shared storage but the installation software would not.
Let me know if this helps.

Hi
I am trying to install clusterware now and it is writing to SAN storage. However, it is very very slow installation, a couple of hours and still running. Is this the normal behaviour? What could be wrong? Thanks!Hi
Thanks for all replies! I am installing Oracle Clusterware for RHAS3. The directory which i am installing clusterware is a mount point between the 2 servers and located in the SAN storage.
It is struck in installing the clusterware software, the directory is increasing in size, but very very slowly!
I am wondering if ASM could have cause the slowness as I have configure the directory in the asm configure too. Any advices? -
Clusterware installation for both node
Hi,
I am pretty new to clusterware and oracle related installation system. What I want to ask that i have met all requirements and verified it with cluvfy.sh but how can I install both cluster nodes? if I try to install on one node other node gets automatically installed? Or do I have to install on every node separately. I have tried both methods on first method the second node can't get installed on the second mode (trying to install it on the second node) some requirements are not met.
I am interested to use clusterware for clustering other applications other than oracle's softwares.
Regards.Hi,
I think it is 11.2 (linux.x64_11gR1_clusterware.zip). To be frank I don't know the version at all. I have received two different replies that you have stated it should be manually installed and other reply states it is automatic ;) Which one is true ?Please read my update
You need not have to Install it manually on all nodes. So it will be done automatically.
thanks,

EBS R12 RAC Clusterware Installation.
Hi hussein/helios
The Oracle support has installed a RAC on our EBS Prod server but it was a POC(proof of concept) only. So the name was TEST RAC instance.
Now, we want to install the final config setup named PROD following the docs he made on the TEST POC. We will also
reuse all the files, directories, and raw devices used in TEST as PROD. Meaning all the traces of files and home dirs of TEST will be renamed to PROD, and change ownerships from oratest to oraprod.
First, we run deinstall of all the TEST install software like the CRS, ASM. We also delete the traces of TEST on inittab and oraInventory.
Then we now installed first the CRS_PROD. But to our surprise the CRS installation failed , it seems that it still
can see the "test" setup :(
Failure at SlfAccess(/u02/oracle/oratest/product/11.1.0/crs) with code -1Note the we already deleted the above directory since it belongs to the old setup, while the existing is:
/u02/oracle/oratprod/product/11.1.0/crs
My question is, how do you completely cleanup or deinstall all the previous traces of CRS?
Thanks a lot,
Ms KHi;
