Cms does not start on linux
Hi Experts,
I did a restart of my BOE 3.1 linux server and since then my cms is down.
Environment:
BOE 3.1 SP1
RHEL5 64 bit
mysql cms db
1. After reboot of the linux server, i ran the startservers script.
2. serverpids directory contains only files for the 2 SIA's. None were created by for the cms other servers.
3. tried enabling and starting cms server by running ccm -managedstart. No luck.
please help!
Deepu.
Hey Denis,
Please see my answers below...
why do you have 2 SIA's ?
I don't know. somebody else created it. I am unable to delete it using serverconfig as no cms is up.
is there a port conflict between them ?
l think so... the ccm.config shows that both are using 6410
I have chn

MartinCould also be a database connection issue.
What database are you running?
We've had an issue where the database (MSSQL) was hosted on a seperate server and where Windows Authentication was used. To resolve the issue, we had to change the Server Intelligence Agent (SIA) service to start with the Windows/domain account.

Firefox is crashing or closing unexpectedly
== Description
==
Problem: When I start FF in Linux, it crashes after the cursor is jumping for half a minute. Nothing is displayed. When I start FF from the command line, I get the prompt back after one second without any message. In safe-mode and with all extensions off it always starts.
However, when I change something in the extensions' settings, it may start: If I start in safemode, deactivate all extensions, and restart - here it goes, with all extensions off. If I activate all the extensions again and restart - here it goes again, with all extensions on. If I delete one or more of the extensions' folders in the extensions-directory of the profile (i.e. sth changes about the extensions!), it may start again, too, but not in every case.
What could be the cause of this issue and how can I resolve it?
I use FF 3.6.8 in openSUSE 11.3. The profile-directory I use with FF in Linux is also used by my Windows-FF. As for extensions, I use Greasemonkey, Firebug and Web Developers Toolbar

Apache does not start on Linux
Hi,
we installed 9iAS 1.0.2.1 (http-Server only) on a Linux-Box (Suse 7.0). There are no errors in the install.log. The http-Server starts, but dies after a few seconds. In the error_log are no messages.
TIAI've had the same problem with 9iAS EE on Red Had Linux 6.2EE. Thought I was going nuts! The only warning in the error_log is:
[Wed May 30 14:16:58 2001] [warn] pid file /usr/home/oracle/product/9ias/rel10210/Apache/Apache/logs/httpd.pid overwritten -- Unclean shutdown of previous Apache run?
This isn't surprising with the unexpected shutdown. I even tried an strace but nothing jumped out. None of our Apache gurus have ever seen this happen.

StratosHi,
although the binding order of the network cards (2 NIC present) was correct and the hostname was present in the host files there seemed to a problem for XI 3.0 by the name resolution. I had to add the hostname explicitely in the command line arguments of the CMS ("-port <hostname>") so that it can start. During the installation process I had to start the CMS manually in order for the installation process to complete succesfully.

Tomcat5 still does not start automatically
Hello,
Novell-tomcat5 still does not start automatically at boot although it is set to do so.
This is from beginning of the oes2/SBE2.5 installation (without simba).
It is still the same behavior after applying OES2/SP2 and SLES10/SP3 patches.
After booting at terminal console:
/etc/init.d/novell-tomcat5 status shows unused
/etc/init.d/novell-tomcat5 start starts tomcat5 without errors
In my boot.msg I found the following error:

Hi Oliver,
If you are manually installing the component products then this is no longer a "NOWS SBE" installation. Any issues you encounter are related solely to the component products. OES Linux Installation questions should be directed to: OES-L: Install
In the mean time, to see if it is configured to start automatically use "chkconfig". For instructions:
Code:
man chkconfig
Is it configured to start automatically?
Code:
server:~ # chkconfig --list | grep novell-tomcat5
novell-tomcat5 0:off 1:off 2:off 3:on 4:off 5:on 6:off
The response from the above command shows that novell-tomcat5 should start automatically for runlevels 3 and 5.
If it is not set to start automatically on your server, you can make it start by:
Code:
chkconfig novell-tomcat5 on
I am by no means a Linux expert. If this doesn't resolve your issue, I suggest you post in the appropriate forum where you will find knowledgeable people willing to help. -

Xfce4-power-manager does not start, but after relogin - works
Hi all.
When I login after system start, xfce4-power-manager does not start and systemtray icon doesn't appear. But after relogin (not restart), the systemtray icon of xfce4-power-manager appears and power manager itself works correctly (if I don't relogin, notebook will shutdown after 10 minutes of downtime - that rule doesn't exist in xfce4-power-manager settings).
Diff between two logs (before relogin and after, xfce4-power-manager --debug command)

Server IP has changed - server does not start anymore
HELP
our network hoster has changed all IPs of our network, and now, the server BO does not start anymore on the server it was installed ... does anyone know where could from the issue ? ..
thanks ...Changing IP does not seem to be a problem unless:
- you've bound ports using fqdn mentioning ip address.
- you've created cms dns pointing to specific ip address datasource.
Did you see logs in BO logging folder?
You may raise a ticket with support if problem persists.
Thanks,

VIPCA does not start from root.sh
Hi all,
I've a problem in installing RAC 10g on ia64 architecture.

[Solved]Laptop does not start (not even bios)
Hi all,
I was about to install archlinux on my laptop. When I generate partitions (I used GPT), I saw something like this:
"If you have a BIOS motherboard (or plan on booting in BIOS compatibility mode) and you want to setup GRUB on a GPT-partitioned drive, you will need to create an extra BIOS Boot Partition of size 1 or 2 MiB and EF02 type code. Syslinux does not need one."
So, I was planning to make this. When I run cgdisk, I was that lthere was a 1007kb unusued(?) space. So I thought I can use this space for boot sector. Then I changed its type to EF02. When I did this, my laptop shutted down quickly and does not start again. When I press the power up button; I hear the usual starting noise, and then it shuts down again.
What did I do to my laptop?
What I tried:
Remove battery, wait for 5 minutes, try again
Remove hdd, try again
Unplug&plug bios battery, try again
Edit: Solved with a shame. Wall-charger was unplugged. This topic can be removed.

Such an error is always caused by inconsistent files in the Firefox program folder (application.ini and/or platform.ini and possibly others) and your only option is to reinstall that version of Firefox, either via the software repositories or the Mozilla server.<br />
Be sure to delete all files in that folder before copying the files from that tar.bz2 archive.<

The situation is this
Untill now I used the system by console and started X when I needed it and esd just before X.
Now I decided to switch to run level 5 so I need to start esd at bootup otherwise it is not able to lock /dev/dsp.
But at bootup it doeas not find /dev/dsp !!! (my sound card is installed and work propelly)
So I gott back to level 3 with esd at boot up, It still not find /dev/dsp but if I login (I am in console mode ) and I manually start it
/etc/rc.d/esd start
everithing get fine.....
Any suggestion?may be my post was not so clear.
I do not have problem at all in starting in run level 3 or 5 either.
So lets try again
Normally I start my computer in rl 3
When I need to work with X at first I start esd then X, otherwise if the desktop (gnome, kde etc etc.) goes up it lock /dev/dsp and esd is not able to start
I decided to move to RL 5 so I have to start esd at bootup to avoid the above problem.
I put esd in rc.conf but it complain about that /dev/dsp is not present.
So I got back to RL 3 (may it help) but esd still does not start at bootup with the same error.
Suggestion??
P.S. for farphel

Emerald does not start at login (Gnome)
Hi, I've just installed Arch Linux and added Gnome. I installed compiz-fusion and Emerald, and added these two entries in the Session startup programs:
fusion-icon
emerald --replace
The fusion icon works fine but emerald does not start. I have to enter emerald --replace in a terminal for it to launch. After I do it, everything just works fine. I was having the same problem and this solution works fine. Is this a bug with fusion-icon, or with gnome?
