CMS server stuck at "Starting" status

CMS server stuck at "Starting" status. I cannot stop it and cannot restart it. I even rebooted the NT box several times and it didn't help. Any suggestions? I am running BO XI R2 on Windows NT box.
The message from Events Viewer is: CMS is unstable and will shut down immediately. Reason: Database access error. Reason ORA-24369: required callbacks not registered for one or more  bind handles
Edited by: Michael Burgoyne on Jun 4, 2009 5:50 PM

Here is the meaning of the error :
ORA-24369:
required callbacks not registered for one or more bind handles
Cause:      No callbacks have been registered for one or more of the bind handles which are part of the
RETURNING clause.
Action:      The bind handles which are to receive data in a DML statememt with a RETURNING clause must have their mode set as DATA_AT_EXEC and callback functions must be registered for these bind handles using OCIBindDynamic.
It sounds to me that when DB was moved from one server to another CMS DB was either corrupted or not migrated properly or new DB has different settings compared to original.
This is definately on the DB side.
How exactly this move was accomplished ?
How was R2 system repointed to new DB location ?
Do you still have original "pre-move" CMS DB ?

  • Managed Server stuck in starting

Hi every, thank you for reading.
We have a Oracle SOA domain running on WLS 10.3.6. The OS is windows server 2003.
Adminserver and soa_server1 are on vmmachine1.
proxy server and soa_server2 are on vmmachine2.
    soa_server1 and soa_server2 are in a cluster.
This domain has been working normally for serveral months. Managed server is controlled by nodemanager.
Yesterday, we increased the memory of vmmachine1 and vmmachine2 from 8g to 16g.
After that, soa_server2 cannot be started while other managed server of the domain starts normally.
I looked into the soa_server2.log and found that the log stucks at "<Notice> <Log Management> <BEA-170019> <The server log file C:\Oracle\Middleware\user_projects\domains\ctst_soa_domain\servers\soa_server2\logs\soa_server2.log is opened. All server side log events will be written to this file.> " forever.
The task manager shows that the memory of java.exe process of the stucked managed server is about 350m and at an increase rate of about 4k.
The cpu consumption of the process is 0 percent.
Below is part of JRockit Mission Control fly record event of the stucked JVM:

  • Server stuck in starting phase while starting webi server in BOXI 3.1  CMC

    Hello All,
I am new to  Business Objects and i am getting an issue in CMC,
many times i am getting an issue while starting or stopping webi servers.
Some times they may stuck in either stopping phase or starting phase.
Just want to know the reason and solution of the issue.
    Thanks in advance..

    Hi,
To activate trace and  restarting the server:
    > Log on CMC
    > Go to servers
    > At the very end of the Command Line Parameters add a blank space then -trace.
    > The server will show a red flag
    > Restart it
Let me know if you need any information.

  • Messaging service in "starting" status 8.8

When the server (Windows 2003) is started the Business One Messaging Service gets stuck in "Starting" status and messages fail when sent from B1. Client is using B1 8.8 PL07. The service is set to start automatically when the server starts. They are using SQL 2008 Standard.
If I terminate the B1mail.exe process, I can restart the service and all works well.
I am experiencing the same issue on my demo laptop (Windows Vista).

    Hi there,
I have just encountered exactly the same problem. My client is running Windows 7 Professional as a server and is on 8.8 PL 11. Gorden, do you have any idea what is causing this? I have UAC disabled and have the 'run as administrator' box ticked for the service manager. I have also tried running the service with the Administrator account rather than the local service. This made no difference.
I can't expect the client to manually start this service each time her reboots the server.
    Thanks.
    Kind regards,
    Simon

  • Webintelligenceprocessingserver stucks in "initializing" status

    Hello everybody!
I have serious problem whith Web Intelligence Processing Server. Today after rebooting SAP BO server it stucked in "initializing" status.
I've tried recreating webi server, tried different setting for it (Cannot initialize report engine server). Nothing, every new server also can't starts.
    Please help.
By the way, where can i find Web Intelligence Processing Server logs, if they exist?
    Thanks!

    I've solved this issue.
The problem was in extremly large amount of audit files in (Drive)\Install Directory\SAP BusinessObjects\SAP BusinessObjects Enterprise XI 12.0\Auditing\.
After deleting all of these files and desabling audit for WebIntelligenceProcessingServer this service starts fine.
    Some helpfull notes:

    Hi Mannyabdon,
Based on your description, I recommend to check the things below:
    1.  Run the PowerShell command below to check the status of the Secure Store Service:
    Get-SPServiceInstance |Where {$_.typename -like "Document Conversions Load Balancer Service"}
If it is not showing online, please stop the service first and then start it to see if the issue still occurs (the
<ServiceGUID> can be obtained obtained from the command above).
    Stop the service:
    Stop-SPServiceInstance -Identity <ServiceGUID>
    Start the service:
    Start-SPServiceInstance -Identity <ServiceGUID>
    2.  Check the ULS log for detailed error message.
For SharePoint 2013, by default, ULS log is at C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\Web Server Extensions\15\LOGS.
    Thanks,
    Victoria

  • Employee replications stuck in 'Not started' status.

Some of the Employee replication has been stuck in not started status. When you go to the edit mode and click on replicate and then save, the entries will be saved. But the status of the employee replication will be in not started status instead of successful or failed status.
The reason might be discrepancy in the secondary persistence. This lead to the fact that you got records by the query which seemed to be relevant, but in the original persistence they were already marked as irrelevant. From SAP end we trigger a reload of the secondary persistence and the issue will be solved.
    Thanks.
    Cryssal

Do you think there is an agent logged in and Not Ready, or do you think it's a hung session?
If you think it's a real login, reboot the PC.
If you think it's a hung session then you'll have to restart a service of two. I would just plan for a maintenance window and reboot the server along with your CUCM CTI Manager.
    Good luck and happy troubleshooting!

It's creating a log ot .TMP files under the managed tmp. There is a way to speed up or elude this "recover"? Please note that I'm quite noob with Weblogic.
    Thanks!

    Hi,
Add -Dweblogic.StdoutDebugEnabled flag while starting the managed server and then post the verbose error message in your next post
For setting the flag follow the below steps
If your using Linux box and not using node manager to start the managed server, add the below line startManagedWebLogic.sh file
    JAVA_OPTIONS="-Dweblogic.StdoutDebugEnabled=true ${JAVA_OPTIONS}"
    echo "JAVA_OPTIONS=${JAVA_OPTIONS}"
If your using Windows box and not using node manager to start the managed server, add the below line startManagedWebLogic.cmd file
    set JAVA_OPTIONS=-Dweblogic.StdoutDebugEnabled=true %JAVA_OPTIONS%
    echo JAVA_OPTIONS=%JAVA_OPTIONS%
If you are starting the Managed server through the node manager then use these flags From Admin console : servers >>>. MS1 >>>> server start >>>> Arguments :-Dweblogic.StdoutDebugEnabled=true

  • Managed server is stuck in STARTING

    Hi All,
I have managed severs on weblogic consol.
These servers are linked to the windows services on my prodcution server.
to start and stop the managed servers we used to simply restart the respective services on the production server.
Now the situation is - two managed servers are stuck in STARTING state though i restarted my windiws services several tims?
Please advice ASAP as its a production enviroment issue.. Thanks
    Mahendra

same thing in our case but little different.
i have a domain with four different clusters where two instances per cluster and those instances reside on two separate machines. All these instances are under NM control with -Xnohup switch on the serverstart tab.
the problem i have is, when we have a weekly reboot on the two windows servers, one particular cluster instances always in 'STARTING' state. As you can see below the .out log will have the following content and nothing else. EVen for a day or two the server sits on 'STARTING' state with no additional logging in .out file.
At this stage it gets ugly to bring the instances back to normal. We can't kill the instances so we had to use process explorer to kill it. As nodemanager restarts the instance immediately after killed the isntances we had to stop NM.
again start NM and start repeating the steps untill the instances back up to normal. This is not good.
not sure what else we can do. any kind of help is appreciated..thanks

This is exactly the same as a normal manual startup of the CMS server except it dies at the loading of the db2databasesubsystem section.
Business Objects is patched to Fix Pack 3.6 and is clustered in a HACMP environment. It is a requirement that when the DB2 database fails, shortly after restarting it can automatically start the Business Objects services remotely.
SSH will work if the command is entered manually from within a secured session, but it is only when automated that the failure occurs. Does anyone have an idea on why this is happening and whether it is in fact possible ?

we're going to run into deep offtopic if we continue that line ))
But I believe there is a big push to get the forum format actualy working this time.

    Any ideas?
    Thanks

We have resolved the problem (minutes after posting it!)
There are two NIC cards on the sever and apparently that caused the issue.
    Resolution:
    1. Log on to CmcApp
    2. Go to Servers
    3. Go to the properties of the ReportApplicationServer
    4. Under Common Settings:Host Identifiers:IP Addres: Specify the IP of of the primary NIC card of the BO Server.
    5. Save and close
    6. Restart the ReportApplicationServer

  • Workflow stuck in starting state after applying SharePoint 2010 CU December 2012

I have custom visual studio workflow which are associated with Custom content type. workflow gets triggered automatically when a file is uploaded to SharePoint. Everything was working fine till when i apply the following CU
    http://blogs.msdn.com/b/joerg_sinemus/archive/2012/12/27/sharepoint-2010-and-december-2012-cu.aspx
After applying this my workflow get stuck in "Starting" state.
No error were logged in 14 hive logs.
    Thanks in Advance!

It took me a while but I came up with a work around.  There is a PowerShell script below that can be used to trigger the workflow.  Hopefully this will hold all of us over until the official fix arrives.
First remove the auto start on change or new from the affected workflow
Edit the script below to match your environment
Add the script to Windows task scheduler with the PowerShell.exe in the command line
This assumes PowerShell.exe is in the path
Then add the full path and script name in the add arguements text box
    Script:
#The purpose of this script is to start the SPD workflow with the windows task scheduler for a trigger
#This should avoid the check in-out issue caused by the December 2012 SP CU patch
#This needs to be run on an account with membership in the farm administration group for SharePoint and Shell in SQL
#You can use a find and replace to replace the server and other names with your actual names
#There are no status messages being used since this will be a scheduled task in the Windows task scheduler
#Add SharePoint modules and create variable space
    add-pssnapin microsoft.sharepoint.powershell
    start-spassignment -global
#Open the web site, list and the workflow
    $site=get-spsite %site url%"
    $web=get-spweb %Web url%
#Open the %affected% library or list and workflow association
    $%affected%=$web.getlist("%affected%")
    $manager=$site.workflowmanager
    $culture=[system.globalization.cultureinfo]::currentculture
    $wfname="%affected workflow name"
    $association=$%affected%.workflowassociations.getassociationbyname($wfname,$culture)
    $data=$association.associationdata
    $wfrunoption=[microsoft.sharepoint.workflow.spworkflowrunoptions]::synchronous
    #Start workflow
    foreach ($item in $%affected%.items) {
    $site.workflowmanager.startworkflow($item,$association,$data,$wfrunoption)
    stop-spassignment -global

  • 3.2 Server Stuck Offline & Wake on LAN issues

Got through installation and getting started guide running 1 VM Server and a separate VM Manager   I was able to shutdown the Server from the Manager GUI; however, when trying to restart the Server from the Manager I received an error: OVMAPI_4005E No worker server found to perform operation on: ovmserv1.  I was able to restart the Server by pressing the power button and the Manager was able to recognize the Server as on after it booted.  The Manager reports the Server as having Wake-on-LAN 'Yes'.    I'm using onboard NIC on Supermicro server, BIOS has a wake on modem feature, nothing for wake on LAN or PCI device.  I checked the Server with ethtool and it reported Wake-on-Lan was enabled on both eth0 and eth1.  There is an optional IPMI card available for the server but my understanding is that IPMI is only needed if trying to wake from a different network, while everything here is on the same LAN and ping-able.  Any help will be greatly appreciated.
Last night I added an Openfiler iSCSI SAN with 3 SCSI targets, one for the pool file , one for the repository and an extra one.  Setup server pool, pool file and repository in the Manager.  Everything seemed great and I was looking forward to importing some appliances the next day and I shutdown for the night.  Today I was trying to setup an FTP server and was messing with LDAP on the Openfiler server, unable to get that going I tried to setup an FTP server on my laptop which is also on the LAN.   Later when firing everything up, somehow the NIC on the Manager had been disabled and the Manager was booted without network connectivity.  After shutting down the Manager, re-enabling it's NIC and booting up again, the network connectivity was good. The problem is the Manager reports the Server as either Offline when the Server is on, or Stopped(Error) when the Server is off.  Using the Manager trying to start the Server fails with 'already on' and trying to stop Server fails with 'not running'.  I shutdown and rebooted all 3 servers a couple of times in different orders and the problem persists with the Server still stuck in Offline status.  Any help will be greatly appreciated.

    Hi,
I uninstalled Mozy a long time ago just because it did prevent my iMac i7 to go to sleep.
I don't know if they have fixed the problem since with an update, or if they'll do it but yes for me back then Mozy = no sleep.
Wake on lan should stay unchecked if you don't need it, this is also known to be a frequent cause of sleep issues.
EDIT : sorry... I didn't read properly your message... My problem was the opposite... Sorry again for my mistake...
