Code Collapse/Folding in Flex Builder?

Hi,
I am using Flex Builder.  Is there a way to keep my code collapsed/folded?  If I open up a file with a ".as" extension I can collapse my functions but they don't stay collapsed when I re-open the file.
1. Is there a way to keep the code folded so it stays that way until I unfold it?
2. Is there a way to somehow have code folding in .mxml files?
Thanks,
-Westside

Yes, I understand how to do that.  Cold Folding is already enabled.  The problem is if you close/collapse a function then close/re-open the file the functions revert back to open.  So if you have a lot of functions in a Class its nice to be able to collapse the other code when your not working in it.   It also makes scrolling in the file much quicker when everything is collapsed and stays collapsed.

  • Flash Builder 4.7 becomes unresponsive when trying to add 5-6 source folder under Flex build Path

    Hi,
I am facing issue with Flash Builder 4.7.
Whenever I am trying to open any mxml or .as file after project setup, flash Builder 4.7 becomes unresponsive without showing any error message or popup.
At the initial project setup, I am able to open file but when I try adding 5-6 source folder under Flex build path->source path, it’s become unresponsive.
Everything works fine in Flash builder 4.6, but I have license key only for flash builder 4.7 and want to use Flash Builder 4.7.
Please help me to solve this issue.

Fixed: In Project prefs: Flex Build path: added the similar swc folder called "local" from FB 4.6 eclipse/plugins directory and removed the 4.7 one.
For some reason the 4.7  eclipse/plugins/com.adobe.flexbuilder.project_4.7.0.345990/dcradS wcs/4.5/locale folder has localisation folders in it and not swc's like in FB 4.6..

  • Web Service stub code different in FB4 than in Flex Builder 3

We have an application that was initially developer in Flex Builder 3 and used the Import Web Service wizard to generate all the  webservice stub code we needed. We then upgraded to using Flash Builder 4 and importing the wsdl using the Connect to Data/Service wizard writes different stub code than what we had in Flex Builder 3.
What happened and is there a way to have the Flash Builder 4 wsdl importer write the stub code the way the Flex Builder 3 importer did?

I figured out the RDS issue - check the web.xml file in the
WEB-INF folder of cfroot and webroot. I uncommented the
<servlet-name> and the <servlet-mapping> tags which
referenced RDS Servlet, restarted the server, and that took care of
    the RDS issue.

Try creating a new Flex project and dragging the files from
    the zip into the
src folder. You may find that you need to rearrange things a
    bit, depending
on how they set up the project, but this should get you
    started.

  • Flex Build Path : How to really customize output folder ?

    Hi all,
I am using this kind of project structure :
D:\project\src\ : the flex project sources
    D:\project\src\classes\ : the mxml / AS classes
    D:\project\bin\ : the swf output
My main application is in this path :
    D:\project\src\classes\projectPackage\Main.mxml.
I configured my Flex Build Path (in the flex project
    properties) this way :
    - Main source folder :
    classes
    - Output folder :
    D:\project\bin
Unfortunately, the output files are created in these paths :
    D:\project\bin\projectPackage\Main.swf
    D:\project\bin\projectPackage\Main-debug.swf
    D:\project\bin\projectPackage\Main-profile.swf
    Whereas I wanted :
    D:\project\bin\Main.swf
    D:\project\bin\Main-debug.swf
    D:\project\bin\Main-profile.swf
Would you know if it is possible to configure the real output
    folder somewhere ?
    Thank you all
    Cheers
    Philippe

    Hi levancho,
    Thanks for your answer.
    You probably meant to use
src\classes\projectPackage as the Main source folder.
This is working this way. However, there are some little
    problems :
    I have this warning : "
    Source path entry, '
D:\project\src\classes', is a subdirectory of source path
    entry, '
    D:\project\src\classes\projectPackage'." which is
strange because it is the second path which is a subdirectory of
    the first.
There are conflicts when the compiler
tries to resolve the classes within the
src\classes\projectPackage directory. For instance, for a
    class clalled Application located in
    src\classes\projectPackage\Application.as, it doesn't know
how to make a difference between Application and
    projectPackage.Application.
    Solution : move classes from
    projectPackage to some sub packages.
Anyway, if it may not be the perfect solution, it just works,
so thank you very much :)

    Philippe

  • Flex Builder marking a sample code invalid "Access of undefines property"?

    Hey,
I used the code from this link: http://tdotblog.info/?q=node/6
When i put it into Flex Builder 3, it has several issues with the code like "Access of undefined property FileStream" (or File).
When I run the application, only the typical gray background appears.
    What am I doing wrong?
    Thanks, Erthy

You probably just need to have import statements for these classes in your code:
    import flash.filesystem.File;
    import flash.filesystem.FileStream;
    import flash.filesystem.FileMode;
It looks like whoever wrote that tutorial forgot to add those. If you were typing in the code rather than pasting it in, the import statements would get automatically added, so maybe the author just didn't notice that they were necessary.
    Related Flex Builder tip:
If you get this error for any class, it means that the compiler can't find the class definition (which usually means you're missing an import statement). The easiest way to add the import statement is to put your cursor at the end of the class name (e.g. right after the word File) and hit Ctrl-Enter (on Windows -- probably Cmd-Enter on Mac). Ctrl-Enter is the shortcut to trigger a code hint, but if you trigger it that way it will recognize the class and just add the import statement for you.

I have tried to open using file import, but still it is not

Creating a project in Flex Builder for the Hybrid Store

    Name your default application catalog.mxml.
Prevent Flex Builder from generating an HTML wrapper: select
Project > Properties. Select the Flex Compiler page, deselect

Create a Run configuration for your project but deselect the

To enable debugging of the Hybrid Store application you must
create a copy of hybridstore.html. Open it in an editor (you can
right-click on the file and select Open With > Text Editor).
Find the line that says "src", "catalog" and change it to "src",

As i am new to flex , i could not know how to do this.

  • What folder does flex look in for embed?

When I start a new flex builder 3 project it creates several
    folders (eg: bin-debug, src, etc.)
if I were to use this code:
    [Embed(source="logowithborder.jpg")]
what folder should I put 'logowithborder.jpg' in?
    Thanks!

Your source folder. Look in your application properties.
Under "Flex Build Path", look for the "Main Source Folder" value.
By default, Flex sets this to "src". This is the /src folder that
is displayed below the root of the Flex Application. So, your image
would be directly under "src". However, it's best to organize all
of your files, so, you might want to create an "assets" folder
under your source folder, and put your images in there. I actually
have an assets folder with several other folders below it -
"fonts", "icons", "images", "stylesheets" - for further
    organization.

  • FLEX Builder Pro 3 New Flex Project cannot configure J2EE

I have FLEX Builder Pro 3 installed on a Windows XP machine.  LiveCycle Data Services is installed (with Tomcat) on a Linux RHEL 5 machine.  When trying to create a new FLEX project and configuring a J2EE server am very confused on what to put in Root Folder and Root URL.  I have tried various paths on the Root Folder (with a drive mapped through windows and also with just using the servername) and keep getting the error message:
Invalid root. The WEB-INF/flex folder must contain either flex-config.xml or services-config.xml.
I've located the flex-confing file in the tomcat5\webapps\ROOT\WEB-INF directory, but still get the error.
Please any help would be greatly appreciated.

Are your new classes referenced from the old code? Mxmlc employs a questionable form of "as-needed" linking, so classes that are not referenced from the main application are not even compiled. This referencing requirement is recursive; that is, any classes that are to be included have to be referenced from the main application, or from classes referenced by the main application, or from classes referenced by classes referenced by the main application, and so on. But if your new classes are not referenced at all from the old code, they will be ignored.

  • Flex Builder debugger breakpoint  folows wrong lines

this morning i start seing strange things happening with
flexbuilder, first it seeme that it was entering code that was
physically impossible; things like entering "if" clause and then
immediately entering " else " clause, finally i realized debugger
was showing lines when in reality it was executing lines that were
about 2-3 lines above what it was showing with breakpoint , I am
blaming this to flash player 10 debug version, maybe because its
still new there is bug ?
I hate to uninstall it and reinstall version 9, maybe there
    is workaround to fix it.?

yeah I implied that, I did clean, I did manual clean I did
every possible option, then I uninstalled f player 10 debug and
reinstalled f player 9 debug, and while doing that discovered
another little bug in FB3 that could contribute to this issue ,
    case is following :
I imported a flex project from my old machine where output
    folder was /a/b/c
in my new PC output folder is /dev/a/b/c
so I went in project properties and adjusted output folder to
point to correct directory /dev/a/b/c but what flexbuilder is doing
is, it does not update all property files that have this path so
after you build the project, half of the assets go to new directory
/dev/a/b/c and half goes to old directory, /a/b/c, whats even
stranger is that if you close flex builder and reopen it, project
output folder gets reset back to point to old /a/b/c folder,
anyways I finally fixed it by manually modifying
.actionScriptproperties and .project files restarted FB cleaned
output folder, and then rebuild it, but now I am not sure did these
steps fix the issue or the flashplayer downgrade, or maybe both?
because I had to do these steps yesterday as well, and then
it was building correctly whole afternoon into new output folder,
but today it started it again, finaly I obliterated the existence
    of /a/b/c path completely.

  • Flex builder thinks all my files are "derived"

Whenever I start to modify any file in my flex application
(mxml, as), my flex builder pops up a warning saying "This file is

This happens for code which I have written by hand, not
autogenerated. Anyone know what this is about?

My Flex project settings had the same folder for both source

fixed another issue where my CSS files was being deleted

  • How to migrate a flex app from Flex Builder 3 to Flash Builder 4.7

    Hello,
I have written an extensive application using Flex Builder 3. I have maintained the app for several years using FB3. In the mean time I have created several mobile apps using Flash Builder 4.7. So I am very familiar with the the new framework. However, my client has requested some big changes to the app. I figured this would be a great opportunity to migrate the app to FB4.7. I would like to keep the mx structure for the time being. So, are there any good documents concerning this migration path? What SDK should I use. Should I start using the Apache Flex SDK?
    Thanks,
    --randu

    Hello Raja,
Thanks. Your reply has been very helpful.
For deploying the Flex app, as a web on NW 04S, I did the following:
    - Created a web project and included the following files as web-content. These files were created using the Flex builder or in the Flex development perspective of NWDI - CE, you can find them in the "bin" folder of your Flex project.
       - AC_OETags.js
       - your-app.html
       - your-app.swf
       - history.htm
       - history.js
       - history.swf
       - playerProductInstall.swf
       - crossdomain.xml - This file is important, if our Flex app wants data from the server.
( I made the simplest possible crossdomain.xml containing
           <allow-access-from domain="*" secure = "false"/>
      -  Declare "your-app.htm" as the welcome file in web.xml
      -  Package, this .war after building this web project in an Enterprise application project and build it.
Now, you have the .ear made, which is deployable on your NW Web AS.
Apart from this, another thing which is important to be included in your Flex mxml code is the following:
( Thanks to Abesh for this........ )
    - You have to tell the Flex app, in the action script, as to from where should the Flash engine pick the crossdomain.xml ( in case you are accessing the server for data from your app)
You might have noticed, we packaged the crossdomain.xml along with our other web content in the .war.
So mention, something like this in your action script.
    Security.loadPolicyFile("http://<hostname>:<http-port>/<context-root fo your web app>/crossdomain.xml");
The code will work like a charm.
    Hope this helps everyone.
    Thanks guys.
    Best Regards, Gagan.
