Code Optimizations from Compiler?

I have 2 questions:
1) When Flex compiles a SWF/SWC, does it remove all the whitespace to make the files smaller?  Just wondering because I'm looking at some javascript projects and many of them have both a "myFile.js" and "myFile.min.js", where "min.js" is the file with all the whitespace removed, making the file much smaller.
2) Does [Bindable] create a conditionally dispatched event (it's not dispatched if there's no event listener), or does the generated code say "dispatch event whenever property changes, regardless"?

Hi,
1) When Flex compiles a SWF/SWC, does it remove all the whitespace to make the files smaller?
SWF does not contain source code. Flex (or Flash) compiles actionscript to bytecode. Then Flash player executes it.

  • Code generated from imported web service model does not compile

    I have created a model in Web Dynpro by importing a web service model using a valid WSDL, but the generated code won't compile because of type mismatches.
    The problem is that methods sometimes try to pass plain objects to methods whose parameter is an array of that object, and a List to methods whose parameter is a plain object.
    [Examples from SAP Netweaver tasks below]
    Thanks,

    Steps to recreate the problem:
    1. Create and Expose webservice method with a parameter whose type has a short[][] (or bidimensional array of anything) field (property).
    2. Try to import the web service in web dynpro... <b>kaputt</b> it won't compile.

    The install of Oracle is fine. I can start the database and have created a needed user and tables but cannot successfully compile the pro*C code.

    My proc is also compiling for cpp code but in the pcscfg.cfg file there is no "CODE=cpp"

  • Resolve full qualified type from compiler syntax tree

    I'm writting a program to perform some analysis on arbitrary Java source code and I need to be able to resolve types that are imported. This is relatively easy if the type is explicitly imported e.g.
    import java.util.List;
    List x = null;
    then the type of x can be determined to be List.
    However if wildcard imports are used e.g.
    import java.util.*;
    import java.io.*;
    List x = nulll;
    How can I determine what the type of x actually is? I'm using the java compiler API to parse the source code:
    CompilationTask task = compiler.getTask(null, null, null, options, null, files);
    JavacTask javacTask = (JavacTask) task;
    Iterable<? extends CompilationUnitTree> tree = javacTask.parse();
    and then scanning the CompilationUnitTree for items of interest.
    I suspect I need to execute the analyze phase of the compiler but I can't see that the output of that phase is immediatly useful.
    Thanks

    I had the same null argument problem as you did. Thank you for the insight above. It saved me a load of time.
    Here are some more details:
    when I moved onto FB4GA from beta 2, the .actionScriptProperties file contained bunch entries like the following
    <compiler>
       <modifiedEntries>
         <libraryPathEntry index="4" kind="3" linkType="4" path="${PROJECT_FR
                <crossDomainRsls>
                  <crossDomainRslEntry autoExtract="true" policyFileUrl="" rslUrl=
                  <crossDomainRslEntry autoExtract="true" policyFileUrl="http://fp
                </crossDomainRsls>
         </libraryPathEntry>
              about 3-4 more entries like the above
       </modifiedEntries>
       <libraryPathEntry kind="1" linkType="1" path="${FLEXUNIT_LIB_LOCATION}/
    </compiler>
    In eclipse, I went into project properties > Flex Build Path, deleted all the build path libraries/sdks and re-added only the SDK. The .actionScriptProperties file now has all the libraryPathEntries lines replaced with the following
        <libraryPath defaultLinkType="3">
          <libraryPathEntry kind="4" path="">
            <excludedEntries>
              <libraryPathEntry kind="3" linkType="1" path="${PROJECT_FRAMEWORKS}/libs/flex.swc" useDefaultLinkType="false"/>
            </excludedEntries>
          </libraryPathEntry>
        </libraryPath>
    and the null argument problem went away

  • Selected images disappearing from compiled CHM

    I've got a project that I'm trying to get compiled into a CHM file from RoboHTML 8. Everything seems to have gone fine, except that four of the images I added to the project prior to compilation don't show up in the CHM. They seem to be fine when viewed from RoboHelp, they're where they're supposed to be, and the source code of the compiled CHM refrences them correctly. And yet... they don't actually show up! I have tried renaming them, and reimporting them into the project, but these tricks didn't work. I'm hoping someone out there has some suggestions!

    I've had this happen a few times.
    I deleted the image from the topic and then inserted it again from the
    RoboHelp project files  (from the "Images in Project Folders" section on
    the left side - not from the open folder icon).
    This solved the problem for me; hope it helps you as well.

  • Example code for java compiler with a simple GUI

    There is no question here (though discussion of the code is welcome).
    /* Update 1 */
    Now available as a stand alone or webstart app.! The STBC (see the web page*) has its own web page and has been improved to allow the user to browse to a tools.jar if one is not found on the runtime classpath, or in the JRE running the code.
    * See [http://pscode.org/stbc/].
    /* End: Update 1 */
    This simple example of using the JavaCompiler made available in Java 1.6 might be of use to check that your SSCCE is actually what it claims to be!
    If an SSCCE claims to display a runtime problem, it should compile cleanly when pasted into the text area above the Compile button. For a compilation problem, the code should show the same output errors seen in your own editor (at least until the last line of the output in the text area).

    Good idea, and since the line count is only a handful of lines of code to implement, I took that option. See the [line count|http://pscode.org/stbc/help.html#linecount] section of the (new) [STBC Help|http://pscode.org/stbc/help.html] page for more details. (Insert plaintiff whining about the arbitrary limits set - here).
    I considered adding line length checking, but the [Text Width Checker|http://pscode.org/twc/] ('sold separately') already has that covered, and I would prefer to keep this tool more specific to compilation, which leads me to..
    kevjava wrote: 1. A button to run the code, to see that it demonstrates the problem that you wish for the forum to solve...
    Interesting idea, but I think that is better suited to a more full blown (but still relatively simple) GUId compiler. I am not fully decided that running a class is unsuited to STBC, but I am more likely to implement a clickable list of compilation errors, than a 'run' button.
    On the other hand I am thinking the clickable error list is also better suited to an altogether more abled compiler, so don't hold your breath to see either in the STBC.
    You might note I have not bothered to update the screenshots to show the line count label. That is because I am still considering error lists and running code, and open to further suggestion (not because I am just slack!). If the screenshots update to include the line count but nothing else, take that as a sign. ;-)
    Thanks for your ideas. The line count alone is worth a few Dukes.

    I did a presentation at NIWeek that covers some common performance
    problems and has some VIs that show how different techniques compare.
    Goto to
    ftp://ftp.ni.com/support/niweek/software_track/
    and you can find the Optimization presentation, or at least the VIs
    used. I'm on a Mac; so I'm not certain what is in there.
    The Optimization presentation isn't strictly focused on code speed, and
    spends more time on things like panel appearance, but it does cover
    performance to a certain extent. It tries to cover some of the mo
    st
    common issues. The performance chapter in the User manual, used to be
    chapter 29, covers the issue pretty well too. Finally, there are some
    low level Tech Notes somewhere on the NI web site.
    If you have specific questions, post them away.

  • How to specifiy the provider to be Oracle.ManagedDataAccess.Client when creating a dynamic connection string with EF Code First from Database?

    I am trying to use the relatively new Code First from Database with the newest EF (6.x) and on an Oracle database (11g, but I have installed the newest ODTwithODAC). First of all, it works fine as long as the connection string is inside the App.Config file. But when I try to build it dynamically in the C# code (or rather, statically at the moment) it fails. I have it working with a dynamically built connection string when doing Model from Database though, so I'm at a loss right now.
    First, I have created a second constructor for the context class that takes a string and does base(connectionString). Then I build the connection string via
    OracleConnectionStringBuilder oracleBuilder = new OracleConnectionStringBuilder();
    oracleBuilder.DataSource = "TEST.BLA.COM";
    oracleBuilder.UserID = "ABC";
    oracleBuilder.Password = "abc";
    oracleBuilder.PersistSecurityInfo = true;
    string connection = oracleBuilder.ToStrin();
    Now trying to open an EntityConnection by giving to it this provider-specific connection string (or even the static one from the App.Config) doesn't work; I get "keyword not supported: user id"). Trying it by creating a context and giving this connection string doesn't work either. I'm pretty sure that this is because I didn't specify the provider to use; after all, it should use the Oracle.ManagedDataAccess.Client provider and not an SQL Server based one.
    I then tried to get around this by using an EntityConnectionStringBuilder on top and specifying the provider keyword there, but then I get "keyword not supported: provider" when using it in the context constructor, and "the 'metadata' keyword is always required" when using it with the EntityConnection constructor.
    As I said above: I bet it's the provider that I have to specify somehow, but I don't know how. The code that does work is the following:
    using (var context = new Model())
    context.Database.Connection.Open();
    context.Database.Connection.Close();
    When I read context.Database.Connection.ConnectionString, it is exactly the provider-specific connection string I created above, but I don't know where to specify the provider again. Do you know of any way to do this? Certainly there must be one.
    PS: I have also posted this question on http://stackoverflow.com/questions/27979454/ef-code-first-from-database-with-managed-oracle-data-access-dynamic-connection because it is quite urgent and I'd like to use Code First from Database. Otherwise I'd have to go "back" to using Model from Database again, which is not ideal because we have updatable views where the .edmx-file has to be edited after every reload of the model, while with Code First from DB inserting into the view automatically works.

    OracleConnectionStringBuilder oracleBuilder = new OracleConnectionStringBuilder();
    oracleBuilder.DataSource = "TEST.BLA.COM";
    oracleBuilder.UserID = "ABC";
    oracleBuilder.Password = "abc";
    oracleBuilder.PersistSecurityInfo = true;
    string connection = oracleBuilder.ToStrin();
The code that does work is the following:
    using (var context = new Model())
    context.Database.Connection.Open();
    context.Database.Connection.Close();

  • How do I select multiple songs and uncheck them from compilations (itunes 10.5.2)

    So I found to my annoinance that itunes has recently moved much of my music to compilations that shouldn't be there. I tried searching online for how to turn compilations off or select multiple songs and uncheck them from compilations all at once and although I found both answers, they must have only worked for older versions of itunes. I no longer can find the option to turn off compilations under preferences and when I try to select multiple songs at a time then press "Get Info" the "part of a compilation" checkmark is not there. It is only there when one song is highlighted. This is very frustrated. In fact I would venture to say I've never been so angry with Apple. There are 609 songs "stuck" in my freaking compilations! I don't have time nor should I have to take the time to go through every single song right clicking it, pressing "Get info", unchecking "part of compilation" then clicking ok. WAY TOO MUCH TIME! If anyone has any good news on a faster way to do this I'd be VERY THANKFUL!

    This was a life saver! I even started to manually tick the box as well!

  • How to determine the error code, returned from LDAP server

    I use the next code for connect to LDAP server:
            try{
                ctx = new InitialLdapContext(env, null);
                 //if connection successfull ...
            } catch (NamingException){
                 //if error occured ...
            }Is it possible to determine the numeric error code, returned from server?

    I was just working on using openldap, binding to it and checking for expired passwords and locked accounts and it looks like that an AuthenticationException is thrown in these circumstances and the ctx is null so it is not possible process connection response controls. But you can look at operation attributes if you have password policy enabled and you are looking for these type of errors

    Hi Keven,
    I had a look at the example "programmaticbuild2.vi" that you can find at this link:
    in this application the error that eventually comes out from the "BuildTargetBuildSpecification.vi" is written in the error_log.txt through a case structure.
    You can change the code inside the Error case if you want to handle the error in a different way. For example you could connect the error wire to a General Error Handler, that displays a message if an error occurs, or you could light up a led that inform you the error has occurred.
    Best regards,
    Serena M.
