Coherence and ADF 11g

Has anyone used coherence for ADF BC 11g ?
What are teh steps to follow and how BC components enables for coherence use ?
Why no sample example on ADF 11g and coherence available ? step by step from install, config and ADF BC using coherence kind.
thx

What other ways to boost ADF BC scalability, performance on high traffic/ Multiple user site?
Actually when you want to use second-level caching it only gives a boost for read-mostly classes.
If you have data that is updated much more often than it is read, do not enable the
second level cache. The price of maintaining the cache during updates can possibly outweigh
the performance benefit of faster reads. Furthermore, the second-level cache can be
dangerous in systems that share the database with other writing applications.
So you must exercise careful jugdment here for each class and collection you want
to enable caching for.
When you have a highly multi threaded environment you can always use a cluster
and a loadbalancer. This is probably the scalability (to increase the capacity of
your application) you are looking for.

  • JDeveloper and ADF 11g Release 2(11.1.2.0.x) compatible WebCenter Version

    We are looking to upgrade ADF to 11.1.2.0 and looking for WebCenter compatibility.
    Could you please let me know WebCenter compatible version for JDeveloper and ADF 11g Release 2 (11.1.2.0.x) ?
    Thanks
    JP

    Looking at 11.1.2.0.0 note on
    http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/developer-tools/jdev/downloads/index.html
    and seeing, "This version of JDeveloper doesn't include the SOA and WebCenter pieces - to use these components you'll need to download Oracle JDeveloper 11.1.1.5.0."
    Does that mean, 11.1.2.0.0 can't be used with WebCenter?

  • OpenScript recording is slow with FireFox and ADF 11g

    Hi everybody;
    I trying the OpenScript for recording some scenarios, and I am facing some problems:
    1-     When I use the internet explorer (IE) it records fine with an acceptable speed, but when I replay the recorded script it misses out the fields and the links that I clicked, meaning: it starts to highlight other places on my page which I didn’t click while I was recording.
    2-     When I use FirexFox, I get other kind of problems. First the recording is unbelievably slow. It might take a minute or two for every link I click to respond. Also when I replay the script it executes faster than it did while recording but much more slower than doing the same scenario in real time meaning: doing it directly on the browser by a real user.
    Kindly note that my application is an ADF 11g application with EJB3 and the application server is Weblogic 11 and the database is oracle 10g.
    Any ideas will be appreciated
    Thank you all

  • IE8 and ADF 11g

    Hi,
    has anyone tried to run an ADF 11g Application on IE8? Is it working?
    Kind Regards,
    Friedrich

    Hi,
    IE will be certified for Oracle JDeveloper 11g in a patch that is planned for JDeveloper 11 R1. The patch should be out in the second half of this year. Note that for a production system its not important what is working but what is supported.

    Hi all,
    I would like to know what the differences between Oracle and other NoSQL database are.
    When and why should we use Oracle?I suggest that you start here:
    http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/database/nosqldb/overview/index.html
    Is Oracle NoSQL database link with Big Data Appliance?Yes, Oracle NoSQL Database will be a component of the Big Data Appliance.
    Can we use map-reduce on a single personal computer? How should we install Oracle NoSQL database to use map reduce on a single personal computer?Yes, I believe you can run M/R on a single computer. Consult the various pieces of documentation available on the web. You may run Oracle NoSQL Database on the same computer that you are running M/R on, but it is likely that they will compete for CPU and IO resources and therefore performance may suffer.
    Do we also have eventual consistency with Oracle NoSQL database? Yes.
    Can we lose data if master node fails?If you run Oracle NoSQL Database with the default (recommended) durability settings, then if the master fails, a new one will be elected and data is not lost.
    Are transactions ACID with Oracle NoSQL database? How can we prove it?Yes, each operation is executed in an ACID transaction. The API has the concept of "multi" operations which allow the caller to perform multiple operations on sets of records with the same major key, but different minor keys. Those operations are also performed within a transaction.

  • Software compatibility About ORACLE BC and ADF 11g with Sybase Database

    I am using jdeveloper 11g xxx.0.2, and our company is using Sybase 12.x ASE. Our team chose Jdeveloper 11g and BC with ADF as our architecture. But during about 2 months, we found the bug (just with sybase db server) becomes more and more, strange, the dialect which we can choose does not have sybase (the have Oracle,Sql Server,DB2,SQL92 and others), we now have the only one way -- to choose SQL 92. But many bugs or other problem comes out, sometimes we event have to write lots of codes to realise a very very simple function. is that all because there's no sybase dialect or i guess the sqlbuilder for sybase database? Someone can explain why? or can help me go through the trouble? We need your help!!!!!!

    Thanks for reply, we can not change our tech now, and could you please show me a way? should I extend baseSqlBuilderImpl and override some important methods there to generate sql suitable in sybase?
    I have override the sql generate method and the lov bug was fixed( The bug is IT recognize int var as a string var, and uses like instead of =), but we still can't fix view criteria, the default declarative view criteria can not run most time. And i don't know why. can adf support team to do a enhancement for sybase? Thanks a lot

    Object result = operationBinding.execute();
    result is instance of oracle.adf.model.adapter.dataformat.XMLHandler$DataCollection but DataCollection is not accessible.
    How to get results from method?
    Tnx,

    Hi,
    there should be a result iterator in the Executables section which cotnains the result. If not, create it from the WS result entry in the DC palette. Once this iterator gets updated, you get the data from this iterator as it would be the case of a table accesses the WS

  • JDeveloper, Toplink, and ADF advice.

    We have application that was completely developed JDeveloper 10.1.3/4 with Toplink, JSF, ADF, and Session Facade; extremely similar to the SRDemo.
    I am want to upgrade to JDeveloper 11g; however, the ADF Faces JSF will be migrated to Apache MyFaces Trinidad.
    1. Why would this be better than migrating to ADF Faces 11g? Pros and cons?
    2. Is Apache MyFaces Trinidad the future of Oracle's ADF?
    3. What would be the best approach for upgrade to Toplink and ADF 11g?
    Thank you.

    1. Why would this be better than migrating to ADF Faces 11g? Pros and cons?It won't be better than using ADF Faces 11g - it is just more feasible for automatic conversion - we can't do automatic conversion from ADF FAces 10.1.3 to ADF Faces 11g since the UI capabilities are so drastically different. We migrate to Trinidad to allow you to combine Trinidad and ADF Faces 11g in the same application. (You can't use ADF Faces 10.1.3 and 11g in the same application).
    2. Is Apache MyFaces Trinidad the future of Oracle's ADF?No. ADF Faces Rich Client is the present and future. Those are based on Trinidad.
    3. What would be the best approach for upgrade to Toplink and ADF 11g?The basic thing to do is open the application in JDeveloper 11g - things should work after the migration.
    Then you can start leveraging new capabilities such as the new ADF Faces 11g UI in new parts of the application.
    You might want to ask on the TopLink forum if they have any specific migration tips.

  • ADF 11g support for Internet Explorer 8 plus x

    hi
    Given the current situation for ADF 10g, see forum thread "ADF 10g support for Internet Explorer 8" ...
    at ADF 10g support for Internet Explorer 8
    ... I was wondering about the future browser support in ADF 11g.
    (Specifically about IE8 the knownissues.html document for JDeveloper and ADF 11g (11.1.1.1.0) currently says "Internet Explorer 8 is neither supported nor certified. If you must use IE8, set the compatibility view settings in your IE8 browser to ALL. In IE8, go to the Tools menu -> Compatibility View Settings and check the last checkbox "Display All Websites In Compatibility View"." and "... IE8 support should be in the upcoming first patch set. ..." Re: PanelStretchLayout on IE8.)
    question
    (q1) What is the life expectancy of applications built with ADF (Faces) 11g in regard to their future browser support?
    many thanks
    Jan Vervecken
    edit 20091001 : fixed link to knownissues.html

    Thanks for your reply Shay.
    We plan to officially support IE8 with the next patch release to JDeveloper 11g - currently planned for later this year.That matches what I wrote in my initial post in this forum thread about IE8 support.
    We usually only certify browsers after they officially go production.That does not really answer my question (q1) in this forum thread.
    It is more like, how can I assess that Oracle will support any successor(s) of IE8 or successor(s) of any currently supported browsers for ADF 11g applications in the future? How long will Oracle support "commonly used browsers" for an ADF 11g application I build today, so how long will I be able to use that application?
    How do I answer such questions for ADF 11g applications that should be deployed on the internet (where, as some extranet environments, you typically have not that much (or no) control over which browsers your users use ... although some would like to argue with that, see forum thread "ADF Faces RC browser support and browser market share")?
    (By the way, do you have any feedback for the forum thread "ADF 10g support for Internet Explorer 8"?)

  • Do we have a preprocessor or interceptor layer in ADF 11g?

    Hi,
    I am working on JDev 11g and ADF 11g.
    For my project we have provided a login screen. Now I want the logged user to be authenticated and authorized.
    This has to be done through the tables/values available in database [oracle 10g] and NOT declaratively.
    For this, I want to have a preprocessor OR Interceptor layer that will do the required authentication and authorization. So now based on the output of this layer I will show the result to the user.
    Want to know
    1. How can this be achieved in ADF?
    2. What steps should I follow
    3. Are there any limitations that I need to be aware of?
    Thanks in advance.

    .. to add to the previous answer
    - you can authenticate users against a database infrastrcuture using WLS. User names and roles can be added to the privileges of the authenticated users this way. Using ADF Security, JAAS permissions are declaratively added to application roles, which are mapped to user roles. This way the framework does it all for you
    - if you want to implement custom security, no standard security, the you have various hookpoints to use
    1) PageLifecycle customization - checks on teh PageDef level in ADF if users are allowed to access this apge. For this you would need to know about the requires access permission and look it up in your database tables
    2) ServletFilter - handle the incoming request first and determine if the request is for a protected resources
    3) Task Flow initializer method / method call activity - check authorization on task flow entry
    4) PhaseListeners - similar to servlet, check the incoming request for authorized resource access
    5) Use managed beans and EL on pages to show/hide content
    As you see, using ADF Security is a lot easier to use than a hand crafted solution. However, its possible
    Please see the Fusion developer guide documentation for more infromation about lifecycle handling and customization

  • ADF 11g - Refreshing adf:Table using af:poll and ValueExpressions

    Hi,
    I am trying refresh an ADF Read-only table with the af:poll component.
    I could see the System.out message in console and Browser activity (refreshing) because of af:poll method.
    But, the values are not getting updated until I refresh the page manually and removing the "?_adf.ctrl-state=1228194074_3" part from the Browser URL.
    Please find the code which I am using:
    System.out.println("Updating table");
    FacesContext fctx = FacesContext.getCurrentInstance();
    *ValueBinding dcb = fctx.getApplication().createValueBinding("#{bindings}");*
    DCBindingContainer bindings = (DCBindingContainer)dcb.getValue(fctx);
    DCIteratorBinding dciter =bindings.findIteratorBinding("DepartmentsIterator");
    Key current_row_key = dciter.getCurrentRow().getKey();
    dciter.executeQuery();
    dciter.setCurrentRowWithKey(current_row_key.toStringFormat(true));
    Also, I could see createValueBinding / ValueBinding is deprecated and replaced by ValueExpression.
    Is this causing any issues or is there any working sample of the same in ADF 11g.

  • Can we call a method before and after Export operations in ADF 11g

    Hi,
    My problem is I have to execute a method before and after the export operation.Is this posible in ADF 11g
    Regards,
    Felix

    Hi,
    in response to a similatr post of yours, I replied
    1. Drop af:exportCollectionActionListener on a command button
    2. set the command button to display = false
    3. In your Java code, call
    ActionEvent ae = new ActionEvent(button);
    ae.queue();
    Everything you put before
    ActionEvent ae = new ActionEvent(button);
    ae.queue();
    will fires as a pre-trigger, everything after as a post trigger

  • Oracle ADF 11G R1 and 11G R2 and Internet Explorer 11 Support

    Hello,
    We are using Oracle ADF 11G R2 (11.1.2.4), and now that Microsoft has pushed Internet Explorer 11 to Windows 7 and Windows 8 computers, we are finding that our application is not working with IE11.
    You get the popup that states "You are using an unsupported browser", and while everything renders on the screen, the application does not respond to user clicks.
    Does anyone have workaround for IE11, and if anyone from Oracle is reading, can you give any tentative guidelines for IE11 support.
    Thanks.

    Here's one workaround
