Coherence exception in JPA

Hi,
I am using open jpa for persistence in my clustered weblogic server envirnment. I am using coherence for locking support and distributed cache mgmt.
But while creating entity manager from the Persistence.xml file, i am getting an error, for which the base exception is thrown from the tangosol classes.
Here is a complete stack trace of the error.

    Sergio,
    there are at least three implementation for JPA available: OpenJPA, TopLink, and Hibernate. The first two are or can easily installed in WLS. If you intend to use Hibernate as the persistence provider you should ensure that all libraries are in the class path of your application.

  • How To Handle SQL Exceptions in JPA

    Hi,
    we are working on toplink JPA. My use case is I have an emp table with columns as "empid" , "emp name" , "job" with "empid" as primary Key. Here I'm creating a record in the Database by using a jspx page. Here My problem is when I'm entering a duplicate value for the empid I'm getting "ORA-00001: unique constraint (constraint_name) violated" . I'm able to catch the exception in the jspx backing bean where I'm calling the JPA insert method, But i could not catch the exception in the sessionEJB Bean. Is there any way to catch such exception in the sessionEJB.
    could anyone help me out.

    You should be able to call flush on your EntityManager in your SessionBean to trigger the exception.
    Note that the transaction will still be rolled back even if you catch this exception.

  • Coherence exception -  This service timed-out due to unanswered handshake request

    Hi,
    We are getting weird errors in production with below exception -  Oracle Coherence GE 3.5.1/461 <Error> (thread=DistributedCache, member=2): validatePolls: This service timed-out due to unanswered handshake request. Manual intervention is required to stop the members that have not responded to this Poll.
    To give little back ground on the issue,  we had multicast coherence setup in production with 3 servers are in coherence cluster.   We are using JBoss as our application server. Coherence version currently  using in production is : 3.7.1.0b27797.  Our applications are running in 2 data centers and interestingly this issue is  occurring in only one data center. So not sure weather it is coherence issue or environmental issue.
    If this issue occurs in one or two servers then they are able to recover after some time. But if is happens on all 3 servers, then all 3 servers are dead and causing production outage.
    We have captured the thread dump from production servers when this issue occured and noticed all application threads are hanging at WAITING state with below thread stack trace

    merge can only be called for an entity that comes out of the entity manager. If you jUnit test creates the entity instance without first getting it it from the entity manager, this latter cannot "merge" it, merely "create" it. I'm not talking about whether the entity's data exist in the DB, really about which entity manager you get the entity from.

  • Using EclipseLink or JPA with Oracle Coherence as shared cache

    Hi,
    I expect to use EclipseLink with Oracle Coherence as shared cache, mainly with/for Entity Caching.
    * JPA)
    For JPA queries, is the JPA semantics fully preserved when using Oracle Coherence ?
    * Non-JPA)
    Are the non-JPA API taking also advantage from Oracle Coherence ?
    For these non-JPA queries, is the semantics fully preserved when using Oracle Coherence ?

    Yes, JPA semantics are fully preserved when using TopLink-Grid to cache entities within Coherence.
    Yes, the native EclipseLink APIs can also take advantage of TopLink-Grid and Coherence.
    I am not sure what you mean by "For these non-JPA queries, is the semantics fully preserved when using Oracle Coherence ?" Perhaps you can provide an example of what you are looking for?

    I am trying to use Toplink Coherence Grid, and I have managed to get the server running and find all the jar files, but now I see this:

    Running Weblogic 10.3.3.0 with Coherence 3.5.

    There are multiple ways to configure WebLogic with Coherence as described in the Active Cache guide but to define EAR scoped caches you need to deploy the jars to WebLogic as shared libraries, not put them on the server classpath. You can define shared libraries using the WLS Admin Console or you from the command line.   • Coherence gives error just after starting up

  • JPA and database error handling

    Can anyone point me towards any information or discussions on methods of handling database initiated exceptions with JPA? Specifically, I'm trying to handle common data exceptions, like primary/foreign key violations etc., so I don't have to duplicate that level of data integrity checking in my business logic.
    It seems I can only get hold of a RollbackException if something goes wrong. Ok, I can get into the underlying cause easily enough, but then I'm straight into implementation specific stuff (in my case, Hibernate exceptions). Are there any good techniques/patterns to reduce this dependency to an absolute minimum?

    In this situation I created @Id for one of the columns or created @IdClass from all view fields.

  • Problem using TopLink Grid on WebLogic

    I encountered an error using TopLink Grid with WebLogic.
    I have a servlet that persists an object through TopLink Grid, and then try to retrieve an object. It has the following setup:
    JPA 2.0
    TopLink 11.1.1.4.0
    Coherence 3.6.0.4 (bundled with WebLogic)
    WebLogic Server 10.3.4
    Cache config: Grid Entity
    Method of obtaining EntityManager: Injection of @PersistenceContext
    Transaction Management: JTA
    I put coherence-cache-config.xml and tangosol-coherence-override.xml in /APP-INF/classes in my EAR file.
    I did not use active-cache.jar in my servlet. After the WebLogic server is started, the Coherence cache client is to be launched when the persist operation is called.
    However, found that the insertion fails with error. Only when em.find() is called could the Coherence cache client be launched properly. I find it very strange because toplink grid complains about missing coherence-cache-config.xml when it tries to insert, but is perfectly ok when it tries to do an em.find().
    Has anybody encountered the same issue before?

    It seems Coherence is unable to load the config files using the application class loader. You could try placing the config files in a location that gives them the same visibility as your PersistenceUnit.

    It could be one of a few things; Coherence is validating the XML file against its schema so either...
    1. You have a custom tangosol-coherence.xml file that is not valid
    2. You have incompatible XML jars in your classpath - we had this problem with an old version of Xerces that was in our classpath.

    Initially this application was giving me absolute path related errors.But when I made changes to applicationContext.xml as follows,giviing absolute path for Hibernate mapping files

    For a tutorial with source on how to create and deploy a simple quickstart JEE5 JPA enterprise 3-tier application on your Oracle WebLogic 10.3 server - see the following example that uses the EclipseLink JPA provider. You should be able to transition all of your mapping information (the @ManyToOne and table/column overrides and named queries for example) using either JPA via entity annotations or native extensions if you do not want to implement EJB3.

  • Error while deploying a .war file

    Hi,
    I have a one Servlet class, which references two more classes for database
    connection. After creating a .war file, I am trying to deploy it on iAS, and I
    get the following error:

    I don't know anything about /var/tmp/jar61304.tmp, I don't know where is it picking it up from. And my web.xml is as follows:

    For a tutorial with source on how to create and deploy a simple quickstart JEE5 JPA enterprise 3-tier application on your Oracle WebLogic 10.3 server - see the following example that uses the EclipseLink JPA provider. You should be able to transition all of your mapping information (the @ManyToOne and table/column overrides and named queries for example) using either JPA via entity annotations or native extensions if you do not want to implement EJB3.

  • Error while deploying a war file:Urgent

    Hi,
    I am trying to deploy a war file and i am getting the followinig error on the emd console.
    "Failed to deploy application 'xxxx'. No config data persisted for component apache, transaction ID 192.168.40.44.5789f3......"
    The opmn log file in the oracle directory is showing the following exceptioin
    java.net.ConnectException: Connection refused
    Can any one please help me resolve this issue.

  • Error while deploying helloservice.war

    I have been trying to deploy the "helloservice" web service but unable to do so. I am using the Sun Java Sever 9.0. When i run the ant for deploy, it throws me the below error.
