COI First Consolidation (matrix)

Dear all,
We have a matrix consolidation where we are implementing Consolidation of Investments. Because of the matrix, we need to define the equity and investment values on both units. However we only have one legal axis (other one is only for management reporting). Technically the system will post goodwill because of differences in combinations. How can we prevent this? We only want the total value for equity and investment on one unit. Otherwise we have to load data on all combinations and even with a small amount.
Thanks in advance, Bobby Rijken

After changing the period, I am able to execute the task but it works only for CU04 and other CUs' left out.
CU04, CU03, CU02 are 100% Subsidiary of CU01.
Where do i define 100%parent and subsidiary relationship. In Accounting Technique I have selected the parent Company and I am using Purchase Method which I think will automatically consider 100%Minority Interest.
When I execute task for COI:
Doc. is posted but there is no investement detail
the doc. should look like as under:
First Consolidation under which
1. Investment
2. Equity
3. Differential
4. Document : cu01 invest(-)
cu01 invest
cu03 ordin share
cu01 gw 1
cu03 ordin share(-)
Amortization of Goodwill
1.
But in actual the following takes Place--
First Consolidation
1.Equity
2.Document: the doc posted is also wrong
cu03 ordin share
cu03 min int
Here investment and differential is left out and moreover Amortization of goodwill is also left out inspite of doing the required settings.

  • How to post automatically earnings prior first consolidation

    Hi Gurús:
I´m starting a new consolidation in SEM-BCS. At the first consolidation (year 2007, period 12), one "consolidation unit" has earnings prior to this date. I would like to know if it´s possible in SEM to create an automatic task in order to distinghish between earnings prior and after first consolidation (because the calculation of the task Consolidation of Investment (CoI) will be different with 2 different data, earnings prior and earnings after first consolidation).
If its not possible to create an automatic task, can somebody help me about the manual posting in order to correct this data?.
Note: I´ve customized the item 80 as "earnings prior to first consolidation" and item 8 as "earnings after first consolidation".
    Thank you in advance.
    Juan Perez Cribeiro.

    Hi Eugene:
At first time, thank you for your suggestion, but I have already made what you say. I know the customizing, but my "main" question is "how to move" this item (in my case, item 80).
Theoretically, if a subsidiary enters in the consolidation perimeter, for example, in June 2008 (and it´s correctly notified the system), and this subsidiary has "earnings prior the first consolidation" (for example, from January to May 2008), __how (and when) the system moves item 80__?
Thank you again for your help.
    Yours sincerelly,
    Juan Pérez Cribeiro.

  • Statistical Offsetting Item in first consolidation..

In the purchase method with direct shares..during first consolidation following are sample first consolidation entires posted in help.com .
Cons Unit     Partner Unit     Item                                  Value
    1     A     U                    Investment                                  1000-
    2     U                          Common Stock                  1000
    3     U                          MI-Common Stock                    200-
    4     U     A                    Statistical Common Stock     800-
    5     U                          Statistical Offsetting Item     800
    6     A     U                    Goodwill                                     200
Question is where the ''statistical offseting item'' will be reflected in the consolidated balancesheet. if it will be hidden , will it not affect the balanced financial statement..

The system stores subsequent consolidations (post first consolidation) earnings/losses, dividends, activities in statistical accounts for COI so that when a divestiture or partial divestiture occurs these amounts are used to reduce the gain or increase the loss recorded in source G/L for write off of the investment as a result of the divestiture. Because these subsequent consolidation earnings/losses are not typically recorded in the source G/L, the system uses statistical account for this purpose.
When earnings/losses, etc. are recorded in source G/L they are written off along with the original investment as part of divestiture and thus included in gain/loss of divestiture. However, with COI, that is not typically the case.

  • Automatic entry for Common Stock , first consolidation in additional data

    Hi,
I need to know why, after uploading the notification data, the system automatically populates an entry on the additional notification data for 'Changes in Investee Equity' at the activity "First consolidation". I must tell that there were no previous entries because this is the first consolidation on ECCS.
But, where is configured which FS Item should the system identify as the one related to the Common Stock? it is detecting the P&L carrying forward FSI instead of the common stock...
    Thanks in advance!
    Rushid

I finally got the solution by myself. In fact this behaviour is due to the configuration on tx CXJ5 of a combination of a set of FSitems + a set o subitems that are linked to one unique consolidation activity (01-first consolidation,16-horizontal mergers, etc.)
I hope this will help somebody else in a future.

  • First data entry and First consolidation

If I start new BCS system, will the Period and year of First data entry be the year and period of First consolidation?
I thinkt that it is not possible to track the Change of stockholder's equities in subsidiary from REAL starting period of acquition.

    First:
There is one very important thing to know about "first consolidation period/year":
    Lets say 12/2008
If you use carry forward, for example with movement type 100, then you are allowed to upload data into 12/2008 on movement type 100 and only then.
    Second:
You need to assign an accounting technique to the consolidation group change and reporting.
    Check this link:
    [http://help.sap.com/saphelp_sem60ep1/helpdata/en/68/08d54276053258e10000000a155106/content.htm|http://help.sap.com/saphelp_sem60ep1/helpdata/en/68/08d54276053258e10000000a155106/content.htm]
Have a look at the table what those attributes mean.

  • ECCS - G06020 First consolidation data for unit x in group G2 contains err

    Dear Experts,
When I try to consolidate the investment, I got error message as below:
First consolidation data for unit E in group G2 contains error(s)
    Message no. G06020
    Diagnosis
Investment or equity data was collected for consolidation unit x for a date that is after the period of first consolidation in consolidation group G2. This makes all activities for this unit ineffective after the first consolidation of those activities. This can also affect indirect activities and organizational changes of other consolidation units.
    Procedure
Correct the investment or equity data for consolidation unit x.
Then,  I have no idea how to fix the problem. If i changed the investment or investee's equity, the data validation can not be successful. And from the message is said, the date could be critical, but I don't know, which date is incorrect.
The background information is described as below:
This is the first consolidation, I have run all tasks of data collection and elimination of AR/AP and Dividends.
The consolidation is based on purchase method.
    Any suggestion will be appreciated.

  • LC change in Consolidation Unit after first consolidation

    Dear All,
Comapny A with LC as MUR been tied to consolidation group and consolidation takes place very quarter but after the first consolidation comp A wants to switch to LC as EUR...
Kindly guide me how to deal with previous data in old LC and config steps related to LC change.

    Balaji,
The usual list of rates & items:
    B/S:
Investments, Fixed Assets and Equity (except of RE & MI) - historical rates -- might be deviation toward current rate (if the company doesn't want to keep these rates and information)
RE & MI - average rate (should be the same as in P&L)
All other items - current rate.
    P&L
All items - average rate (might be average for a period or YTD).
Special considerations for cash flow items. But it's a separate theme.

  • First Consolidation  purchase method subsequent consoli.. in Equity method

I have a scenario where the business wants to eliminate investments and equity postings. So investment should be offset against equity.(like in Purchase method). After the client also wants the Net income from the investee to be rolled into parent .(like in equity method offset against investment and offset to a P&L account.). Can some body give me a suggestion how to configure this kind of situation. Is this scenario reasonable.
Also all subs are 100% owned. So no minority or goodwill activities are taking place. Any help is appreciated.
    Thanks.
    Sanjay

The earnings of the subsidiaries is automatically included in the cons group results.
However, I have seen this request on more than one occasion and have dealt with it differently depending on the reason for this requirement.
For determining the value of a parent, including investment in subs, the best approach IMHO is to create a separate cons group hierarchy exactly the same as the legal or standard hierarchy, with different group names (we used the first letter L for each group in the legal hierarchy and first letter E for each group in the "equity" hierarchy). In the equity hierarchy each unit is assigned the equity method except for the parent company of each group. Then COI is executed for this hierarchy. In the equity hierarchy, all the earnings is posted to the parent. Reports may be written for this hierarchy to achieve the required results.

  • COI not reading equity data after consolidation group change

    Dear experts,
I am running the consolidation of investments task for a new group that has been created on 012.2009. This new group CG2 is a child of an existing one CG1, and all the consolidation units that I have in 012.2009 under CG2 were in 012.2008 under the CG1.
In my new group GC2 all the units have as first consolidation period 012.2009 and on the parent group they have as last consolidation period 012.2009.
The problem is that when I run the COI task the system does not read the equity data for these consolidation units. I have both, equity data and Investment data defined to be read from additional financial data.  The system reads correctly the investment data for the parent consolidation unit, and tries to eliminate it, but as it does not read the equity data of the child so it takes the value to consolidation a difference, that is incorrect.
Does anyone know what I am missing?
    Thanks in advance.
    Kind regards,
    Sónia

    Hi Sonia
i dont want to confuse you as Dan is guiding so far. let me put my thoughts some here.
    CG1  12/2008
       - CU - A    Parent    12/2008 to 999/9999
       - CU- B                   12/2008  to 999/9999
       - CU - C                  12/2008 to 999/9999
do you have any another sub node for CU-B and CU-C? as B has investment in C
    New Group: 12/2009
      CG1
       - CU -A    12/08 to 999/9999
       - CU - B    12/08 to 12/9999
       - CU - C     12/08 to 12/2009
CG2 group supose to be like this
      CG1
        -CU-A
        -CU-B
           I---  CG2
                 CU - B   Parent  12/09  to 999/9999
                 CU - C                12/09 to 999/9999
         - CU-C
Now with above scenario you can invest in C from B and system will treate as FIRST CONSOLIDATION  based on AFD Investments/Equity
How did you maintain B investments in C at CG1 12/08 level?
    and or    as per Dan
You have to run PREP for CONSOLIDATION GROUP CHANGE  task  before CT task and after Elim Taks but before COI task
    thx

  • COI - change parent unit & first cons. of old parent unit

    Hi All,
I need to change the parent company (and run its the first cons. ) after the period of first consolidation of the group but seems this can cause problems. The system donu2019t permit to run First Consolidation of company A in period 06/2009 because the company already was in cons. perimeter since 01/2007 but was not run as First Consolidation because it was the parent companyu2026
    In detail:
    01/2007 Group1
         Comapany A (parent) : hold 100% of B and hold 100% of C
            Comapany B
            Comapany C
    06/2009 Group1
         Comapany C (parent): hold 100% of A
            Comapany A: hold 100% of B
            Comapany B
How can I run the first cons.. of comapany A (under company C) in 06/2009 if period of first cons. is 01/2007 but never run the proper thask because it was the parent?
How can I define unit C as the new parent unit of cons. group. without generate errors?
    Thanks in advance.

You need to do the first consolidation of A by parent C in a new cons group, but I can see why this would be a problem because the acct techniques don't give the option of first cons date, only the hierarchy.  You may need to rip out these nodes of the hierarchy and transfer into a new (partial) structure with the 6/2009 first cons date.  I don't know how to get the Group 0 inserted between two existing hierarchy nodes without the system complaining.
Is there anything you can do with a step acquisition of A by C for 100% in 06/2009, rather than a 1st consolidation?  You'll need to manually move some goodwill, but I'd be more concerned with getting good numbers from July onwards.
Out of curiousity, what kind of business is this where you have a company's subsidiary suddenly becoming a company's parent?  I've never seen a SPV or Partnership that had this scenario.  Do you have a separate reporting requirement for A and C, or could you have the next level parent setup as the parent for both A and C and just consolidate at that level?

  • First or technical consolidation

    Hi!
I have seen 'first' or 'technical' consolidation in IFRS Starter Kit Documentation. What is this? for what?
If I want to consolidate DEC 2011 year for the first time do I need to consolidate DEC 2010?
Are these two years the same? or I can consolidate 2010 year with another scheme? may be more simple.

    Hi,
When doing a "normal" consolidation with a good level of detail, yes you need to have a group currency consolidated balance sheet for the last period of year 0 and carry it forward to year 1.
The first reason for this is that in order for currency conversion to correctly calculate historic currency translation reserve amounts (for equity and investments accounts held at historic rate) it needs the opening group currency values for these accounts.
Secondly it's important to know the opening group structure (ownership) so that in period 1 of year 1 the movements can be calculated correctly.
If you do not have a fully-implemented currency conversion or want to track the group structure movements then you do not need to do this "first consolidation".
    Hope this is clear.
    Tom.

  • Consolidating Company and Profit Centers

Our business requirement is to consolidate bottom up whereby first eliminating interunit among profit centers below a company and then proceed to eliminate interunit among companies as well as COI among companies.
    EG scenario:
    Company A with Profit Centers A1, A2, A3
    Company B with Profit Centers B1, B2, B3
Transactions among A1 and A2 and A3 should be eliminated when consol task is run at Company A level. Same goes for B1, B2 and B3 should be eliminated when consol task is run at Company B level.
    Then continue with the scenario:
    Company A buys Company B at 70%
At our current Matrix Organization settings, it required us to select WHICH profit center of Company A buys which profit center of Company B. But our case, when we want to COI among Company A and Company B, all profit centers should be in (and already eliminated) thus not necessary to specify which profit centers but just need to specify which Company buys which Company.
Is our current Matrix set up is not right for our business requirement of this scenario? Would appreciate if anyone can advise on a better approach.
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi Kooi Heng,
First consolidation happens according to the hierachy either PC pr company code.
In your case you have to define two hierarchies one for PC and one for Com Code.
Sobased o these hierarchies system will do elimination.
Also remember, when you are doing CC hier. cons, system will read only CC data, same for PC also, so dont get confused in creating hierarchies with CC and PC, both are different Charecteristrics all together.
    All the best,
    Sunil M

  • Calculation of minority interest in matrix organization structure

    Hello-
We are currently implementing sem-bcs and have a matrix organization structure in place. We use company code and profit center as consolidation units. Company code being the currency carrying unit.
We are facing an issue in minority calculation-
Let us take the following example -
Investee A - books equity in pc A
Holding entity B books investments in pc B
The above information were entered in AFD and was also pulled in BCS as RFD..
The first consolidation happens as per our expectations.
For subsequent consolidation, the retained earnings account (additions movement) could have multiple profit centers. The system calculates minority interest correctly for combination of retained earnings addition @ PC A. However for all other combinations (I.e retained earnings for PC other than A), the system treats the entire amount as minority interest (even though that's not the case)..
    Kindly advise.
    Thanks!

    Hi,
    Thanks for your reply...
The PC hierarchy is already in place..I maintained Additional Financial Data for the other combinations (of Cons Unit and PC) with 100% share and zero value. The system considered that and calculated minority interest correctly.
I wish to know if the above approach is ok..
    Thanks
