Colord-sane.service systemd FAILED

Hi!
Today, as of systemd 187-2, i had this issue. I got a fail from this service, that i never activated.
I saw that it is "static", so i cannot disable it
systemctl is-enabled colord-sane.service
static
And this is what journalctl says:
journalctl | grep colord
Jul 31 12:55:09 arch dbus-daemon[198]: dbus[198]: [system] Activating via systemd: service name='org.freedesktop.ColorManager' unit='colord.service'

I thought i haven't colord installed, but a quick
pacman -Q colord
colord 0.1.21-2
told me  i'm wrong.
So, why is this service static, and why i get this strange error?
Any idea?
Thanks in advance!

The error appears to be from within systemd, when it tries to spawn colord-sane. I.e., probably nothing is wrong with sane itself. My guess is that this has something to do with your network setup, as colord-sane has PrivateNetwork=yes (i.e., systemd should block colord from accessing the network). I have colord-sane on my system too, and I'm not able to reproduce this error, so sorry that I cannot be more helpful.
As to disabling colord-sane: you can mask the service:
# systemctl mask colord-sane.service
This means that when dbus tries to start colord-sane, it will just fail. Obviously, that means that cups might not be very happy, I don't know how graciously it handles this situation.

  • Systemd switchover - pyload.service always fails

    I have finally moved my home server over to systemd (last night) and spent today enabling all relevant daemons and services and rebooting.
    I'm now faced with a number of issues, including a slowdown of the system and SSH login (gone from 1-2 seconds login to ~15 seconds to login)
    I will created separate threads for each issue / service.
    pyload.service always fails to start
    I have re-run the setup using pyLoadCore -s and everything goes smoothly, I am even able to access the web interface. However, when I exit out of terminal the service stops, so I try to load it using systemctl and it does the same as with my httpd.service issue - it begins, works for a few seconds/minute and then fails. During this small timeframe everything works fine before it fails.
    It is beginning to look like there is some issue with systemctl not letting specific services to fully load, or something (I don't know lol)

    Again, I can empathize with being tired.  But if you are tired, have a beer and a good night's sleep and come back to working on your system with your own fresh set of eyes.  You are right that this can be a support forum - but it is not a servant forum.

  • Pwck Complaining about homeless users, causing shadow.service to fail

    I was looking through my journal and noticed the following error:
    Jul 08 00:00:00 raspberry_pi systemd[1]: Failed to start Verify integrity of password and group files.
    Checking the status of shadow.service produces this output:

    Jul 08 00:00:01 raspberry_pi pwck[11736]: pwck: no changes
    The passwd entry for this user is
    ~ $ cat /etc/passwd
    remote:x:1001:100::/home/remote:/bin/nologin
    I guess this explains why pwck is complaining and causing shadow.service to fail. However, this user was created a long time ago, explicitly without a home directory, so I am not sure why a home path is specified in the passwd file. I also feel certain that this error is relatively new.
    So, using the following command I created a test user without a home directory so that I could at least see what a passwd line for a user without a home directory is supposed to look like, but to my surprise a home path was specified in the passwd file and pwck complained about the new user in the same way.
    ~ $ sudo useradd -M -g users -s /bin/bash testuser
    ~ $ cat /etc/passwd
    testuser:x:1002:100::/home/testuser:/bin/bash
    ~ $ sudo pwck -r
    user 'remote': directory '/home/remote' does not exist
    user 'testuser': directory '/home/testuser' does not exist
    pwck: no changes
    I also created a throwaway user on my x86 notebook to see if this happens, and it does, so this does not appear to be related to the architecture.
    Is there anything I could do short of creating a home directory for this user, or does this look like a bug?

    Hope it's not too late to answer this.
    Changing the home directory to /dev/null seems to have solved the issue for me.
    Still don't know what negative effects that might have for me, but shadow.service runs normally as far as I can tell.
    Edit:
    Performing
    userdel -r <user>
    throws
    userdel: /dev/null not owned by <user>, not removing
    , so setting /dev/null as the home directory is relatively "safe"

    I've installed linux-rt (3.10.18-rt14-1-rt) with the intention of setting it up for pro-audio work. My cpu is a Core2 Quad.
    I'm trying to set the cpu frequency to performance on start up, but it fails.

  • Systemd fails to load modules with kernel 3.0

    When booting, systemd tells to issue this command:
    sudo systemctl status systemd-modules-load.service
    Password:
    systemd-modules-load.service - Load Kernel Modules
    Loaded: loaded (/lib/systemd/system/systemd-modules-load.service)
    Active: failed since Wed, 03 Aug 2011 00:40:15 +0200; 1min 26s ago
    Process: 237 ExecStart=/lib/systemd/systemd-modules-load (code=exited, status=1/FAILURE)
    CGroup: name=systemd:/system/systemd-modules-load.service
    I have no idea about what it's happening or how to solve it.
    Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance

    Yes im in audio group. And i tryed that and nothing happend...
    EDIT: one more thing related for this bug, when i installed archboot yesterday it was everything work, then i do pacman -Syu and i updated package initscript and krb5 after this updated package network and audio stoped to work so probaby problem is here in initscrit (i guessing) and i not use kernel 3.0 i use

  • [SOLVED] defect dbus service, systemd is unable to create socket

    Hi,
    I am experiencing serious problems with systemd & dbus.
    I want to setup a gateway in a KVM VM, all was working fine till i applied my shorewall config & set to autostart (systemctl enable shorewall).
    If I reboot the machine after this step one or two times, then I get a broken dbus service.
    What I did than: reinstalled archlinux again (x86_x64) and setup same -> got issue again.
    installed arch linux as x86 and setup same -> issue again
    installed arch as x86 and configured nothing else shorewall and got this issue again after maximum of two reboots.
    i found in log:
    Feb 13 15:45:56 pactor systemd[1]: Failed to open private bus connection: Failed to connect to socket /var/run/dbus/system_bus_socket: No such file or directory
    I've checked this directory by hand and found that only /var/run is existing. /var/run/dbus is already not existing.

    oh man... found the reason due to help of some guys on systemd irc... big thx to falconindy and alxchk.
    shorewall's SUBSYSLOCK option in shorewall.conf is by default set to /var/lock/shorewall.
    but the arch wiki point that it should be set to /var/run: https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Router
    definitely wrong! that deletes the /var/run symlink and created a directory intstead.
    to set the SUBSYSLOCK on default is working like a charm.
    look also for this: https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=151285
    could somebody modify the wiki in the meantime, i will hold this thread on -not-solved in the meantime
    edit:/ oh man this wrong info in wiki did cost me a lot of time :-/

  • [SOLVED] Netcfg.service always failing.

    Hello,
    Since systemd got pushed down with an update I decided to jump the ship (even though roughly a week ago I tried it and decided to wait a while, the irony ) With the help of my previous topic and the knowledge that e4rat does work with systemd, I got everything working and it's working faster than ever too. Win/win if you ask me.
    There's only one issue: the netcfg.service that I have enabled with systemctl enable netcfg.service always fail on boot and I have to manually connect later. I don't know why it fails, so I hope you can help me tracking the issue.
    This is the output of systemctl status netcfg.service right after booting:
    ┌─[jente @ lappy ~] 19:39:30
    └─■ systemctl status netcfg.service
    netcfg.service - Netcfg multi-profile daemon
    Loaded: loaded (/usr/lib/systemd/system/netcfg.service; enabled)
    Active: failed (Result: exit-code) since Fri, 31 Aug 2012 19:35:04 +0200; 4min 27s ago
    Process: 253 ExecStart=/usr/bin/netcfg-daemon start (code=exited, status=1/FAILURE)
    CGroup: name=systemd:/system/netcfg.service
    And here's systemctl --failed list-units:
    ┌─[jente @ lappy ~] 19:39:32
    └─■ systemctl --failed list-units
    UNIT LOAD ACTIVE SUB JOB DESCRIPTION
    netcfg.service loaded failed failed Netcfg multi-profile daemon
    LOAD = Reflects whether the unit definition was properly loaded.
    ACTIVE = The high-level unit activation state, i.e. generalization of SUB.
    SUB = The low-level unit activation state, values depend on unit type.
    JOB = Pending job for the unit.
    1 units listed. Pass --all to see inactive units, too.
    And here's the journal output:
    ----- Reboot -----
    Aug 31 19:35:04 lappy netcfg-daemon[253]: :: [ESSID] up interface wlan0 does not exist
    Aug 31 19:35:04 lappy netcfg-daemon[253]: [fail]
    I don't think it's any netcfg configuration file, because it did work with SysV and the net-profiles daemon.

    I use a custom "network.service" as I have a static ip on my wireless lan (oh, and I chucked in the hdparm stuff because after suspend I found the disk had lost those settings, so don't copy that line). Based on this wiki section.
    $ cat /etc/systemd/system/network.service
    [Unit]
    Description=Network Connectivity
    Wants=network.target
    Before=network.target
    After=sys-devices-pci0000:00-0000:00:1c.1-0000:02:00.0-bcma0:0-net-wlan0.device
    BindTo=sys-devices-pci0000:00-0000:00:1c.1-0000:02:00.0-bcma0:0-net-wlan0.device
    [Service]

  • Custom finch.service systemd script - No screens found

    I'm trying to write a systemd script so that I can automatically start finch (a non-graphical chat client based on libpurple).when I boot.  I want to put finch in a screen session as my user.  Here's my current finch.service.
    /etc/systemd/system/finch.service
    [Unit]
    Description=finch Service
    After=network.target
    [Service]
    Type=forking
    User=keatts
    ExecStart=/usr/bin/screen -dmS finch /usr/bin/finch
    ExecStop=/usr/bin/screen -S finch -X quit
    [Install]
    WantedBy=multi-user.target
    When I run systemctl start finch as root, systemctl runs without error.  Upon running systemctl finch status, I get this output.
    finch.service - finch Service
    Loaded: loaded (/etc/systemd/system/finch.service; disabled)
    Active: failed (Result: exit-code) since Sun, 2012-12-16 08:36:17 EST; 34min ago
    Process: 16854 ExecStop=/usr/bin/screen -S finch -X quit (code=exited, status=1/FAILURE)
    Process: 16851 ExecStart=/usr/bin/screen -dmS finch /usr/bin/finch (code=exited, status=0/SUCCESS)
    Main PID: 16852 (code=exited, status=0/SUCCESS)
    CGroup: name=systemd:/system/finch.service
    Dec 16 08:36:17 Colossus systemd[1]: Starting finch Service...
    Dec 16 08:36:17 Colossus systemd[1]: Started finch Service.
    Dec 16 08:36:17 Colossus screen[16854]: No screen session found.
    Dec 16 08:36:17 Colossus systemd[1]: Unit finch.service entered failed state
    As you can see, I get No screen session found..  I don't know why it would be doing that, because my screen command should be creating a new screen, not looking for one that exists.  If I run my screen -dmS command as a regular user, it runs fine, so I'm not sure what's different between that and my systemd service.  Also, I don't think the status=1/FAILURE on the ExecStop line is important, because if I comment out ExecStop in the finch.service file, I still get No screen session found.
    Any advice or help would be greatly appreciated.  Thanks.

    On the IRC, sledgehammer told me that I should create a systemd service file for screen and handle all the finch stuff in my .screenrc file.
    I found a screen systemd service on Arch wiki (https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Sy … ces#screen) and put the following in my .screenrc.
    startup_message off
    escape ^a^a
    screen -t finch 0 finch
    I can run screen and finch starts up automatically.  I can also run systemctl enable [email protected] without error, but  the screen session never shows up.  The systemd script on Arch wiki isn't working for me.  Any ideas?
    EDIT: Well, the problem is no longer related to finch at all, the problem is just getting the screen systemd service on Arch wiki to work, so I'll create a new thread for that.

  • SAP Business One Integration Services Authentication Failed

    Dear ,
    ALL SAP forum members,
    Iam Using SAP Business One 8.81 PL 06, Micorsoft SQL 2008 R2
    In SLD B1DI and  JDBC, the connections were tested successfully.
    Whenever I log into SBO, I am getting "SAP Business One Integration Services Authentication Failed" error message. I did extensive research on all possible SBO documents dating 1 year back especially in B1ic Troubleshooting Document (New and Old) and searched the length of the SBO forums, but I could not a solution.
    I uninstalled and reinstalled the B1f package many a time. The integration services we re also restarted many times and the connections were all tested successfully. Firewall, AntiVirus also checked.
    In the B1f, in the Monitoring Window, the login is "Ok" but the AuthCheck is "Failed". I checked Authent.Monitor->Authentic Info  and I found the following message under Action message "Wrong Usrname and Password".
    I debugged and i found again "/com.sap.b1i.vplatform.scenarios.authen/sap.Xcelsius/Authenticate_Check.bfd
    But could not understand much of it.
    But i could go no further. The experts are requested to suggest their solutions, If any, to me as Iam stuck in this phase for the last 3 week
    I hope some experts will guide me over this issue
    Thanks and regards
    Ashish Gupte

    Hi Konstantin Ryahovsky
    Thanks for your reply. My problem is solved.
    And frankly speaking i dont know how it was solved. I have not uninstall, install ,not even i had restarted the server also.
    only change i did in SLD >> Maintainance >>> cfg Runtime >>>> Put server IP address instead of server Name and restarted the services.
    Thanks & regards

  • EPM 11.1.2: Foundation Services config fails on Windows 2008 SP1 server.

    Hi,
    I installed EPM 11.1.2 on Windows 2008 SP1, 32-bit. The installation succeeded (no errors in logs). However, when I run EPM Configurator to configure Foundation Services, it fails.
    Environment:
    EPM Server: Windows 2008 SP1 32-bit
    RDBMS: Oracle Enterprise Edition 10.2.0.4 (running on remote AIX 5.3 TL 8 server)
    Oracle Client: 10.2.0.4 (full client install)
    The configtool.log (see below) indicates that the program cannot find the reg.properties file. I checked the server and this file does not exist. The log file also reports non-existing classpath entries (not sure if this is related). The registry.log file (see below) reports a jdbc driver error: java.sql.SQLSyntaxErrorException: ORA-00917: missing comma.
    I submitted a service request with Oracle Support, but the support engineer said that installation and configuration errors are outside the scope of technical support.
    Any ideas/suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
    Thank you.

    Yes. I downloaded and extracted the additional components. I have also dropped and recreated the HSS repository. Each time I have tried to reinstall, I have uninstalled all EPM/Oracle components, removed registry keys, removed EPM environment variables and removed references to oracle in the PATH environment variable.
    I have tried installing/configuring HSS 11.1.2 on both Windows 2008 SP1 64-bit and Windows 2008 SP1 32-bit. The configuration error is the same.
    I was able to get my SR reassigned to a different support analyst, and we are working on troubleshooting now.
    If you can think of anything else to try, let me know.
    BTW...on the 32-bit server, the page file maximum is 16GB (should be enough)?
    Thanks.

  • Thanks this was very useful.. I have a brand new iphone 4s unlocked version from singapore and I am having the same problem constant network fluctuations, no service, call failed, invalid sim, sim failure, bars fluctuating from 5 - 3 - 2 - 1, no signal/ba

    I have a brand new iphone 4s unlocked version from singapore and I am experiencing constant network fluctuations on my iphone , no service, call failed, invalid sim, sim failure, bars fluctuating from 5 - 3 - 2 - 1, no signal/bars searching etc... Ifeel miserable after trying out all the options changed multiple sims, tried multiple carriers, restored the phone back and have set-up as new device but the problem does not get solved... its is so frustrating that after investing on a world's most expensive phone you cannot enjoy the calling features which the phone offers which is the main thing you own the phone for.. Rest of the things are working.. The funniest part I am not able to make calls or receive calls but can access the internet..  I have tried every possible thing and really very frustrated with this iphone of mine...I hope the problem gets solved.. would anyone have any solutions to this problem.. Does it mean one should never update software as I hear that after updating to IOS.5.1 the problem has started coming and same has been with there.... Apple says its a hardware failure which is very difficult to digest as sometimes I get 5 bars and able to make and receive calls but 95% of the time I am unable to. If anyone has any solution I will be very happy if he or share can share the same. Many thanks. its so disgusting to experience this on top of this apple does not support global warranty for the phone as you need to go to the country from where you bought the phone for replacement.. Truly sad state of affairs.. very very very dissappointing.

    Have a look at this it might help
