Column in Query Designer
Bom dia, expert´s ...
When I executed the query through Query Designer, by default only appers four columns. It is possible change these columns ??? I mean, I want show more than four columns.
Muito obrigado,
Márcio
Hi,
Open the query designer, the number of columns there is the number of columns that will be displayed.
This does not apply if you have some charachterstic in the column, which gives dynamic values.
As there is also a restriction in excel for the columns. A-IV
Hope this helps.

can you please tell me how to add extracolumn and add those.
Thanks,
snehaHi sneha,
You can do this by using structure .Create the selection for3 month using variable and defining offset for that, creat new formula for Q1 = 123 , then create same selection for next 3 months and same for Q2.

How to place attribute at column in query designer
Hi Experts,
I have to place attribute in column panel, but it is not possible. Is there any solution for this problem. Attribute is already created. please help me to solve this.Hi,
Create a formula Variable with processing type as Replacement path based on the characteristic (which has the Attribute).
In the Replacement path options -> Select Replace with Attribute value and choose the required Attribute.
Create a CKF or New formula and drag the formula variable to the Formula editor. Save and execute the report.

Condition - Query Designer not working in BEx
Hi all,
I have used Condition in my Query in Query designer. it is to calulate the top 10 customer. when i execute the report in RSRT , condition is not working properly.
But, at the same time , i am executing my same query on portal and condition is working on portal.
We are on EHP 1 . please suggest.
Regards,
Macwan James.Hi James,
There are certain functions about condition which are only available for 7.x runtime (Java Web, Portal) and are not available for 3.x runtime (transaction RSRT, BEx Analyzer, ABAP Web).
For example this one:
http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw70/helpdata/en/43/2695d2fd2f0d23e10000000a1553f7/frameset.htm
● Most Detailed Characteristic Along the Rows or Columns
This option is optimized for threshold value conditions. The condition is applied to the most detailed characteristic of the rows or columns.
Note that this function is not supported when executing the query in the BEx Analyzer.
If you have set to "Most Detailed Characteristic Along the Rows or Columns" in Query Designer, portal would execute properly according to this setting while RSRT would use one of the other two settings (seems to be "Single Characteristics and Characteristic Combinations" as I remember) which lead to unexpected result. This is my assumption how it is in your case.

SSRS Column Chart Design Returning values in a format different from SSRS -SSAS Query Designer
Hi All,
I have an SSAS cube Measure Group with Multiple Measures that I am attempting to return on one SSRS report and reflect the
values using a ssrs column chart.
My Measure Group (Patients).
Measures:
PatientsOnMeds
PatientOnRelapse
PatientsCounseld
TotalNumberOfPatientsRegisterd
NewlyRegisteredPatients
HealthPersonelTrainef
Demension:
Time (Year) :filtered to 2012 & 2013
In my SSRS query designer I have filtered the above Measures with Time Dimesion year 2012 & 2013
and the data is returned as :
Year |PatientsOnMeds|PatientOnRelapse|TotalNumberOfPatientsRegisterd|NewlyRegisteredPatients|
2012 | 700 | 526 | 25 | 456
2013 | 245 | 245 | 15 | 70
Now the problem is when I return this data on the column Chart it's in messed up mesh
On the chart Data:
-Values :Measures
-Series Group: Dimension
The report values are returned in multiple columns for each value segmented by year i.e year 2012,Year 2013.
I want a single column for each Measure (value) for each single year and The chart axis to reflect the measures(values)
instead of grouping values according to series group.
instead the legend returns:
-Year A -PatientsOnMeds
-Year A -PatientOnRelapse
-Year B -PatientsOnMeds
-Year B -PatientOnRelapse
I would like the legend to reflect on -Year A,Year B in color code that will be highlighted in the column values.
Please point me in the right course if you can.Your insights are highly appreciated.Thank you in advance.Hi Charlie,
Thank you for your kind response.
In actual I want the legend to show:
-2012
-2013
And the bottom axis to show:
PatientsOnMeds
PatientOnRelapse
PatientsCounseld
TotalNumberOfPatientsRegisterd
NewlyRegisteredPatients
HealthPersonelTrained
Indicating in color code for Year 2012 and Year 2013.
This the challenge that I am struggling with.I hope you understand my scenario.
It aint easy. -
In BI Bex Query Designer output, dont want to have unit at column Heading..
Hi
I have a BI Bex Query Designer report showing output with Qty unit at Column Heading level. Even in KF's Text i didn't mention unit. I want unit to appear to column fields instead of column heading. Pls let me know how to do that.
One more thing is: i have 2 reports exactly same except due date range is different. first report showing unit for each KF at the column heading level and for 2nd report showing column fields level... Surprising. Pls let me know what is the reason and how to control it.
Thanks...Hi Harpal,
Key figures can have scaling factors and units/currencies. Normally, units/currencies are displayed for every key figure, but not the scaling factors. If you activate the Display Scaling Factors for Key Figures, an additional header row is added to the row or column header. Information about the scaling factor and currency/unit appears in this additional header row, as long as it is consistent (for example, 1,000 EURO).

Hide a row or column for characteristic value # in Query Designer
Hi gurus,
I would if we could hide a result row / column if one of the characteristic value is #. The requirement is actually to remove the meaningless row / column from the whole result set. For example, I have a char Material Group in the column. Since not every Material is assigned to a Material Group, I will get the following layout:
Material_Group A
Material_Group B
Material_Group C
Is it possible to define in query designer so that the column with # will automatically not be displayed?
Thanks,
MengHi Meng,
I guess we have the same users..
But there is one thing that is going to make a non sense on the report: if you do not display the "#" for material group, then the total of your query by material group will not be the summation of what is displayed on the screen...and if the user explort the information in Excel (pretty sure they will do so), you will have some calls that your query does not balance....
Based on that assumption, tell the users to assign a material group to the materials, so that this unassigned column disappears. You could even give them a control report listing all the parts that do not have a material group
If this is a standard business rule not to have a material group for all parts, then, what you could do is to change the text for empty rows for Material group, then the "#" will disappear and wil be under the text description you defined.
But keep in mind that your data is made of materials which do not have a material group in their definition, noraml or not ?

Query Designer - how to count distinct characteristic values in a column
Hello Experts,
I need to count the number of distinct occurences in a column and use it later for a percentage calculation. I'll give you a concrete example:
Promotion_ID Product Promoted
A ****************** P1 ******** 1
A ****************** P2 ******** 0
A ****************** P3 ******** 1
B ****************** P1 ******** 0
B ****************** P3 ******** 1
C
D
A promotion ID can have more than 1 product associated with it. A product can be promoted (1) or not. A promotion_ID can be also empty (no products C and D)
I need to calculate for each product the percentage of promotions where the product is promoted out of ALL promotions (4) or
P1 25 %
P2 0 %
P3 50%
How can I model this in the Query Designer ? How can I count the distinct Promotion_IDs ?
Any ideas will be appreciated.
Thanks

Query designer - heading in columns of reports
Hi colleagues,
I am quite new to the BW 7.0 Query Designer, and there is one thing I can't figure out!
When I add a Key Figures in my columns and call them f.ex Budget Amount, Actual Amount and Deviation, they don't bring these names to the web when I run them! Instead they are called Selection 1, Selection 2 and Formula 1...
<b>How can I make the query bring the headings I set in the query designer to the web!

Welcome you post on the SCN.

Query Designer - Rows between Columns
Dear all,
I've got the following requirement and I really cannot figure out if it is doable.
I would appreciate your help.
I shall create a query using Sap Query Designer regarding the actual and budet data of the assets (it's a financial report).
I'll have 2 columns for the actual data and 2 columns for the budget data.
Is there any way:
a) to have the assets (the rows) in the middle of the report layout, and
b) the actual data on the left side of the assets, and
c) the budget data on the right side of the assets
The goal is when drilling down the assets, both pairs of columns to be expanded as well.
Is it doable? Is there any trick?
Thanks in advance.Dear Riyez
I do thank you for your response.
I am wondering if there is something someone could possibly do on the Query Designer side in order to fool the system.
For instance, to design a virtual structure (I do not know how - I am thinking loudly) which would be identical to the structure that holds the assets?
In other words, is it designeable to have a row structure, then the column key figures and, finally, another row structure identical to the first one? And when the user expands the first structure, the second structure will follow accordingly?
Or such a solution is out of question? -
Query Designer: how to keep all char. in one vertical column when running?
In query designer, if dragging char. one by one from the left to the row section, when running the query, these row characteristics all show in different columns. How to show them in one column? Just give you an example, usually the query result format would like the following:
Salesman--Sales Office-Sales Org----Quantity
John--Office1Org1--
50
Mark--Office2Org2--
100
Kevin--Office3Org3--
30
Now, we would like the query result looks like the following format:
Salesman------Quantity
John----
50
Mark----
100
Kevin----
30
Salesman Total------180
Sales Office------Quantity
Office1----
xx
Office2----
xx
Office3----
xx
Sales Office Total------xx
Sales Org-------Quantity
Org1----
xx
Org2----
xx
Org3----
xx
Sales Org Total------xx
How to generate the above query?
Thanks and we will give you reward points!Hi,
What you want to do is 3 different views of the same report
If you publish the information in Excel (workbook) you have to call 3 times the query in three different sheets, and manually do a summary....
If you publish in the web, then you can have 3 times the same query but with different views on the same page. you can then control the three tables with the same navigation block...
But your request is not the way Bex works...

The BI report created by Query designer does not display all columns
Dear Experts,
I have created a BI report using the Query Designer.
When I execute the query, only 6 columns have been displayed.
The total columns are 12. I need to display all 12 columns at the first instance.
Could any one help me to resolve this problem?
Thank you very much!
ArthurHi Athul,
Thanks for your reply.
There is not marked for '.Supress Zero' in the Rows and Columns.
And I did not check for 'Hide repeated values' in the Display tab.
Any other place you could suggest to verify?
Thanks

Hello,
I have following scenario in Query Designer:
There is only one characteristic Material in row and 3 calculated Key figures in column Price (Current Year), Price (Current Year -1), Price (Current Year -2). The User gives the current year as Input Variable. It works so far fine.
Query Output looks like:
MATERIAL | PRICE (CURENT Y) | PRICE (CURRENT Y-1) | PRICE (CURRENT Y-2)
1234 |10|20|--
2345|10||
3456|12|--|23
4653|12|13|14
7564|--|2|5
6452|||8
7362||7|
You can see that at least one value of PRICE Current Year/Current Year-1/Current Year-2 per Material is always filled. All Prices are in EUR.
Now my requirement is that I have to build a new Calculated Key Figure in Query designer which should calculate the minimum value of PRICE Current Year/Current Year-1/Current Year-2 per Material.
The new Query Output should look like this:
MATERIAL | MINIMUM (PRICE CURRENT Y to CURRENT Y-2)
1234 |10
2345|10
3456|12
4653|12
7564|2
6452|8
7362|7
I have tried to use Mathematic Function MIN but couldnu2019t get success as few cells are empty. So I cannot use function MIN. When I add empty cell with 0 then the minimum value calculates incorrect. It only works when all 3 cells are filled. How I can solve this problem in Query Designer?
Many thanks for the help.
Edited by: Moha Nan on Aug 26, 2011 1:07 PMHi Moha Nan,
Try this:
PRICE CURRENT Y *
((PRICE CURRENT Y NE 0) *
((PRICE CURRENT Y-1 NE 0) * (PRICE CURRENT Y < PRICE CURRENT Y-1) + (PRICE CURRENT Y-1 == 0))
((PRICE CURRENT Y-2 NE 0) * (PRICE CURRENT Y < PRICE CURRENT Y-2) + (PRICE CURRENT Y-2 == 0)))
+
PRICE CURRENT Y-1 *
((PRICE CURRENT Y-1 NE 0) *
((PRICE CURRENT Y NE 0) * (PRICE CURRENT Y-1 < PRICE CURRENT Y) + (PRICE CURRENT Y == 0))
((PRICE CURRENT Y-2 NE 0) * (PRICE CURRENT Y-1 < PRICE CURRENT Y-2) + (PRICE CURRENT Y-2 == 0)))
+
PRICE CURRENT Y-2 *
((PRICE CURRENT Y-2 NE 0) *
((PRICE CURRENT Y-1 NE 0) * (PRICE CURRENT Y-2 < PRICE CURRENT Y-1) + (PRICE CURRENT Y-1 == 0))
((PRICE CURRENT Y NE 0) * (PRICE CURRENT Y-2 < PRICE CURRENT Y) + (PRICE CURRENT Y == 0)))
replace the NE with the not equal to sign, the post forum doesn't seem to accept thos signs.
Kind regards,
