Column specific filter Obiee 11g

Hi all,
I am trying to filter a column from edit formula tab. It is not a measure column. I am getting an error
"the filter function requires at least one measure attribute in its first argument. select a measure or deselect all text to insert a new filter expression".
Please help me out from this issue...

Aswin,
If you are trying to filter a column by a predicate the best way to do that is to use the standard column filter.
You access that by clicking the little icon to the right of the column in the criteria tab and then select filter.
The other filter is there for filtering an expression. If you need help in using the filter expression within the Edit Formula tab then click the help button on that tab to see more detailed information on how to use the arguments of that function.

    All columns’ legend are shown I want to exclude all columns that are not selected so that their legends are also not shown in graph.

    Rahul, did you try what I asked? What specific part of what step did you not know what to do. My steps were detailed so I'm not sure what to "explain" unless you tell me exactly what you didn't get. If you didn't do anything and just want me to explain it again, then I say, do it first. The step-by-step instructions can be followed without "knowing what it's going to do," but when you do it, you'll see what I mean.
    Remember, this is a free forum. You are not paying me to help you so you need to show that you are doing your homework by testing what I say to do. So go back and read the post again and actually do the steps. If you don't know how to do a specifc step, then ask about that.
    This method will solve your requirement, put effort into applying it.

  • How to add two columns in criteria(OBIEE 11g)

    Hi,
    I am trying to add two columns in a criteria in obiee
    *"Fact - OLB Processed Invoices"."Invoice Amount - Functional Currency"__"Fact - OLB Processed Invoices"."AR Tax Amount - Invoice Currency"
    but the problem is :-
    The first column have 500000000 and the second column contains NULL values the actual table. I think this might be the problem when I am trying to add them it is giving no output.
    just a blank box.
    Can any one tell me how can we add columns in this condition.

  • Serial Number Column in analysis - obiee 11g

    Hi,
    How can I create a colum for Serial Number based on the rows(It should give 1,2,3,4...n no of rows) which generated in the report. Do I need to create a logical column in Admin tool..? or need to do something else..?

    i did the same but if there is any filter apllied in the report because of it some records are getting filtered in that case s.no will not be (1,2,4,6,7,8) in serial how to overcome this scenario???

  • Hiding a report based on Action Link on report column values in OBIEE 11g

    Hi All,
    I have two Daashboard pages. In Page1, I have Report1.
    In  Page2, I have Report 2  and Report 3  in different sections.
    My requirement is, to create Action Link on two columns in Report1. Column1 should be navigated to Report2  in Dashboard Page2 and Column2 should be navigated to Report3 in the same Dashboard Page.
    Is it possible to use variables to hide Report2 when we click on Column1 and Report3 when we click on Column2.
    If yes, how to achieve this requirement?
    Please help me out.

  • Issue Action links,Column sorting in OBIEE(11g) 11.1.1.7.0

    Hello everyone,
    I want to provide the feature column sorting to my users but i dont want to provide any feature to users when they click on right mouse button.When we click on right mouse in action link column value it is giving the "action links","include/exclude columns" options etc.
    I disabled the do not display the action link report name in the column properties.
    Also disable the  include/exclude columns options in the interaction XYZ properties of the view.
    But still i am not able to understand why these links are coming when i run the report from the dashboard.
    Please help me out here.

    Hi Timo,
    I am using data control web services to get these attributes on to the jspx page. The table has the value property which is binding to the iterator( #{bindings.SUMMARY_LINES_ITEM.collectionModel}).
    The table has various coulmns like order no, status, request and so on..where Order no and status are converted to a cmd link which navigates to another page on a query.
    I don't understand how setting sorting to true in one of the columns can make it not found in the iterator! And I get the errors only if sorting is done first before querying(clicking on one of the values in a column to navigate to another page).

  • Filter two different columns in a Dashboard, OBIEE 11g

    Hi everyone,
    I have read many times this forum, but I this is my first post. I have a problem with OBIEE 11g and I hope you guys could help me.
    In the dashboard I have created, there is an analysis table which has the following columns:
    (1) Month - (2) Doctor's Name - (3) Num. of Appointments Month 1 - (4) Num. Appointments Month 2
    The point is that I want the users to choose in their dashboard a month to filer column (3) and a month to filter column (4), so they can have a comparative view of the number of appointments for each month. I have tried to do this with prompts, but what happened is that the prompt filtered ALL the columns, not just one of them.
    So, is there any way of filtering just one column? I mean, when in the dashboard view, not in the analysis creation view.

    Hang on a minute... I think this is possible.
    Set up two dashboard prompts to populate 2 presentation variables for your first and second months.
    Once you have a presentation variable you can fix the value of column 3 and 4 using the "Filter using" syntax (check the functions list when you edit the column formula). By using Filter using you should be able to pass in the value of your presentation variable.

    Goto Edit formula for that particular column.
    and use FILTER(measure_column USING (condition)).
    eg:
    FILTER("XXXXX"."measure_column" USING ("OBIA"."D5.Times"."Month" =particular_month ))
    Try this... This will work fine.

  • OBIEE-11g Double columns question

    Hi guys, on my pc i've installed business intelligence suite 11.1.3 and now I need support about double columns feature. In the business model I've this hierarchy
    Region -> Province -> Municipality
    where the keys for each level are represented by the name of the element, the problem is that this keys are used to map geometric shapes to enable the map views features and the Municipality values are ambiguous in their domain (could exist two municipality with the same name but different province) in the official documentation is wrote that to unique identify a shape should be used a double columns field but when I 'apply the double field feature to the hierarchy levels the drill feature doesn't work properly and I get a strange filter error (seems that the system filter the value by id on the wrong field). Somebody could help me to understand if I can define a hierarchy where the keys have a descriptor id associated ?

    I 've also come up with the same issue. I am using OBIEE 11G (11.1.1.5.0) and Oracle Mapviewer Ver11_1_1_4_B110225.
    On the RPD, My hierarchy is defined as: District -> Quarter -> Neighbourhood.
    For each hierarchy level I am using:
    District Logical Level keys:
    District Id: Primary Key
    District Name: Use for Display
    Quarter Logical Level Keys:
    Quarter Id: Primary Key
    Quarter Name: Use for Display
    Neighbourhood Logical Level Keys:
    Neighbourhood Id: Primary Key
    Neighbourhood Name: Use for Display
    I need to associate each Mapviewer theme's ID (District ID, Quarter ID, Neighbourhood ID) with a relevant BI column, because the theme names are not distinct.
    I have set the double column (Descriptor Id) feature: (District ID, Quarter ID, Neighbourhood ID) on each BI name column (BI Distict Name, BI Quarter Name, BI
    Neighbourhood Name) of the business model and associated the layer key (ID) of each Mapviewer theme with the corresponding BI name column.
    On the map view, drilling down from District to Quarter works properly, but I get the following action error while drilling down from quarter to neighbourhood:

    On the map view while drilling down from District to Quarter, a filter to a specific District is applied, but the associated Quarters theme is not displayed.
    Finally, if I enable the "Use for Display" checkbox for each hierarchy level's primary key on the RPD, and maintain the association between the layer key (ID) of
    each Mapviewer theme with the corresponding BI ID column, drilling down works correctly but only on the ID.
    I need drilling down to work while clicking on the each name BI column of the hierarchy while defining the association on the layer key ID of each mapviewer
    theme. Is this possible? Any ideas?

    when i use the filter function in OBIEE 11g, it turn out a wrong result.
    The operation steps and detail are described as follow:
    1. In the Column Formula pane, I typed the Formula of the column 'count of customer' as:
    FILTER(count(distinct("customer info dimesion"."customerID")) USING ("TradeType Dimesion"."TradeType" = '001'))
    2. But the phisical SQL about this column in the NQquery file is that: "count(distinct(T11520.CUSTOMERID)) as c5, "
    which means that, the filter wasn't applied, right?
    If so, what shall I do in this situation, in other words , how can i make a Condition COUNT？
    Any Suggestion is appreciated!

    FILTER(count(distinct("customer info dimesion"."customerID")) USING ("TradeType Dimesion"."TradeType" = '001'))I think your formula there is mistake like many braces...instead type this in your f(x)
    =>Filter(count(distinct customer_id) USING trade type='001')
    This filter function is same like a case statement,if you filter still gives error write a case statement
    CASE WHEN TradeType Dimesion.TradeType='001' THEN count(distinct customer info dimesion.customerID) ELSE 0 END

  • OBIEE 11g: Non conformed dimension filter

    Hi,
    I have two fact tables and some confromed and non conformed dimensions between the fact tabels.
    The hiearchies being built and proper levels were set for the fact tables. The measures of the fact were set to the total level of the non confromed dimension tables.
    The fact also hold some non aggregated columns (baseline columns), all the base line columns where moved to a logical dim table.
    The report involves both the fact tables, conformed and non conformed dimension columns.
    When we built the report with all these columns the report is showing fine. But when we add the filter with the non conformed dimension the report is throwing some error.
    Error Details
    Error Codes: OPR4ONWY:U9IM8TAC:OI2DL65P
    State: HY000. Code: 10058. [NQODBC] [SQL_STATE: HY000] [nQSError: 10058] A general error has occurred. [nQSError: 43113] Message returned from OBIS. [nQSError: 43119] Query Failed: [nQSError: 14023] None of the fact sources for D01 Date.Date are compatible with the detail filter [D05 Non Confrm Dimension.Code = 'AFS']. (HY000)
    The above functionality was working fine with OBIEE 10g and have implemented it many times before.
    There is one patch available for this issue but it is available only for windows 32 bit enironment.

    Patch 14210864: OBIEE 11G: CONFORMING DIMENSION SETTINGS FROM 10G NOT WORKING IN 11G
    Can anyone give some suggestion or workaround? I can't do any change in Datamodel.

    In OBIEE 10g, we are running into similar error when we add filter from non conformed dimensions in a report, so can you please share patch download details like where to download or if we have to raise a SR for the Patch 14210864.

  • Customize Filter View in OBIEE 11g

    Hi,
    Is there any way to customize the filter view? My requirement is not to show formulas that are used in Analysis in the “Filter view”. All analysis that we create should go with Filter Views at the bottom and Users should not see the formulas.
    Example:
    Column Formula:
    FILTER (sales.sales USING products.product =’Electronics’)
    If I filter the above column, it shows something like this:
    FILTER (sales.sales USING products.product =’Electronics’) is Prompted.
    What is need to show in the filters is the Title of the column i.e. Electronics Sales.

    I have to display values in a table for measures in obiee 11g report which should hold different calculation on each column. For ex:
    Result 1:
    Flag  Display   Transaction  Amount

    There are a few things I cannot understand; I'm assuming Transaction and Amount are fact columns. Then how do they have different values for the same values of Flag and Display ??
    Anyway, sub total can be achieved by going to edit view for the table and from columns and measures area under the Layout pane click on the summation icon and select After.  This will automatically display a grand total value at the bottom of each fact column.
    Now, to get the final result, say Total Transaction you can add a dummy column and edit its formula.
         Total Transaction = trans_subtotal1 - trans_subtotal2 and
         Total Amount = amt_subtotal1 - amt_subtotal2 + amt_subtotal3
         Now if we could say that trans_subtotal1 is the total of transaction value when Flag = 'C' or something like that then you can get this value of subtotal1 by using the formula FILTER(SUM("Subject Area"."Folder".Transaction Column") USING (DESCRIPTOR_IDOF("Subject Area"."Folder"."Flag column") = 'C')).  Similarly we can obtain subtotal2 and subtract them to get the total transaction value.  But I am sure if we can do this because for the same values of Flag and Display, Transaction has different values.  But by using the above formula, the values we obtain for subtotals 2 and 3 will be the same.  So calculating Total Amount would be a problem.
    The above formula is obtained by going to edit formula and selecting the filter option at the bottom of the edit dialog box.

  • OBIEE 11G - Double column (Descriptor Id)

    Hello All,
    I have a problem in implementing Descriptor ID functionality. I have a time dimension, for which i am using Year, Period Name and Period Number.
    I have placed Period Number as Period Name ID column and in the report i am using the period Number to be filtered out. I created a dashboard prompt with Year and Period with limit values on Period Name.
    After selecting the year, when i select the period, its getting the months only for that selected year, its fine. once I click on apply, the period prompt is changing to another value but report filtering is fine.
    for Ex: Selected Year is 2012 and for that i got all the periods from Jan-12 to Dec -12. When i Select Mar-12 and click on Apply, the report is filtering for Mar-12 but, I prompt value is changed to Mar-14 (why 14 is because i have records in time dimension till 2014) .
    I verified the log, and see that... year is not passing for period as i have year and period filters report is fine. but after population

    Hi,
    Did you enabled check box on your perod prompt and select “Enable user to select by Code Column”
    Note: filter option will not work in case of Operator other than is equal/not equal/between

  • Filter Grouping not working for OBIEE 11g

    Hello!
    I need some help on the below:
    I have built a simple report in OBIEE 11g with FILTER grouping on two dimensions as below:
              Operative Hierachy is equal to Europe, IMEA, APAC, China Focus Country, Americas, US and Canada
         and      Accounts is equal to Net Sales (i), Gross Margin (i), GM% (i)
    or
              Accounts is equal to Gross Margin, Net Sales, Gross Margin %
         and      Operative Hierachy is equal to / is in Organizations Total
    The report was working as expected; but now suddenly it's showing no results with the error "+The specified criteria didn't result in any data. This is often caused by applying filters and/or selections that are too restrictive or that contain incorrect values.+" - even though data is present ! - I have tested this by splitting it into two reports (with only the AND conditions)- which is then woking as expected.
    Points to note:
    --There had been no change on the Report, when it stopped showing results.
    --I have tested this filter grouping with other dimensions- & they are working fine.
    --The OBIEE reports are fetching data from ESSBASE cube.
    --Only thing which I can remember when it stopped working is that, there had been a data load on the ESSBASE cube. But other reports using these dimensions are working.
    Has anyone faced the same issue before. Please help.

    Yes I have checked the generated SQL queries and the MDX queries as well. Both queries are generated as expected, but returns no result.
    But now I have found out how these two different dimensions are different from my other dimensions. Only these two dimensions have a SORT order logical column defined in the BMM layer- which I think is causing the problem, BI Server not able decide which column to sort. So, the sql gives result when I cimment out one of the SORTKEY
