ColumnNotFoundException with LOV

I have a master-detail in my code. The detail is displayed in a grid. One of the columns has a look-up table. When you click that column a LOV is displayed.
When I select a new row in the LOV I get a "ColumnNotFoundException" (RowsetAccess: Column: #DefaultQueryCriteria not found). Eventually the right row is selected and after an error message is displayed the right value is put in the grid.
Judging from the stackTrace it has something to do with the FindPanel.
Does anyone know what the problem might be and how to solve it?

-- Brian<HR></BLOCKQUOTE>
Unfortunately, I don't have the sample code anymore. I made my own LOV to solve the problem.
Here are some steps to recreate the problem:
Create a master table (e.g. readers). The master I display in some textfields. With a View Link I created master-detail table. The detail I display in a grid (e.g. books that those readers own). This detail table has a field: booktype. The detail view is a view based on the books table and the booktypes table (where books.bktId = booktypes.id) When the user clicks on that column, a LOV pops up with booktypes. This is a separate table(booktypes).
The error message I was talking about earlier is generated when you select a row in the lov. If you want, I can get you the stackTrace. Hope this is enough information for you to recreate the problem. Let me know if you need more info.

  • Performance issues with LOV bindings in 3-tier BC4J architecture

    We are running BC4J and JClient (Jdeveloper 9.0.3.4/9iAS 9.0.2) in a 3-tier architecture, and have problems with the performance.
    One of our problems are comboboxes with LOV bindings. The view objects that provides data for the LOV bindings contains simple queries from tables with only 4-10 rows, and there are no view links or entity objects to these views.
    To create the LOV binding and to set the model for the combobox takes about 1 second for each combobox.
    We have tried most of tips in http://otn.oracle.com/products/jdev/tips/muench/jclientperf/index.html, but they do not seem to help on our problem.
    The performance is OK (if not great) when the same code is running as 2-tier.
    Does anyone have any good suggestions?

    I can recommend that you look at the following two bugs in Metalink: Bug 2640945 and Bug 3621502
    They are related to the disabling of the TCP socket-level acknowledgement which slows down remote communications for EJB components using ORMI (the protocol used by Oracle OC4J) to communicate between remote EJB client and server.
    A BC4J Application Module deployed as an EJB suffers this same network latency penalty due to the TCP acknowledgement.
    A customer sent me information (that you'll see there as a part of Bug# 3621502) like this on a related issue:
    We found our application runs very slow in 3-Tier mode (JClient, BC4J deployed
    as EJB Session Bean on 9iAS server 9.0.2 enterprise edition). We spent a lot
    of time to tune up our codes but that helped very little. Eventually, we found
    the problem seemed to happen on TCP level. There is a 200ms delay in TCP
    level. After we read some documents about Nagle Algorithm,  we disabled a
    registry key (TcpDelAckTicks) in windows2000  on both client and server. This
    makes our program a lot faster.
    Anyway, we think we should provide our clients a better solution other than
    changing windows registry for them, for example, there may be a way to disable
    that Nagle's algorithm through java.net.Socket.setTcpNoDelay(true), in BC4J,
    or anywhere in our codes. We have not figured out yet.
    Bug 2640945 was fixed in Oracle Application Server 10g (v9.0.4) and it now disables this TCP Acknowledgement on the server side in that release. In the BugDB, I see backport patches available for earlier 9.0.3 and 9.0.2 releases of IAS as well.
    Bug 3621502 is requesting that that same disabling also be performed on the client side by the ORMI code. I have received a test patch from development to try out, but haven't had the chance yet.
    The customer's workaround in the interim was to disable this TCP Acknowledgement at the OS level by modifying a Windows registry setting as noted above.
    See Also http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?kbid=328890
    "New registry entry for controlling the TCP Acknowledgment (ACK) behavior in Windows XP and in Windows Server 2003" which documents that the registry entry to change disable this acknowledgement has a different name in Windows XP and Windows 2003.
    Hope this info helps. It would be useful to hear back from you on whether this helps your performance issue.

  • CurrentUISkin  problem with LOVs

    Hello JheadStart Team
    I'm using user selected skin by using menuAdminService and setting adf-faces-config to
    <skin-family>#{jhsDynamicMenu.currentUISkin}</skin-family>
    but i have problem with LOV's:
    Error getting property 'currentUISkin' from bean of type oracle.jheadstart.controller.jsf.bean.DynamicMenuBean: java.lang.RuntimeException: Cannot find JhsModelService, Binding container UsersPageDef data control data provider is null
    Kind regrads

    I was able to reproduce the problem. We will provide a fix in the next patch release.
    For now, you can apply the fix yourself as follows:
    - create a subclass of oracle.jheadstart.controller.jsf.bean.DynamicMenuBean
    - Add member variable to this class:
    private String myCurrentUISkin;
    - Override method setCurrentUISkin as follows:
    public void setCurrentUISkin(String currentUISkin)
    this.myCurrentUISkin = currentUISkin;
    - Override method getCurrentUISkin() as follows:
    public String getCurrentUISkin()
    try
    if (JhsModelServiceProvider.getInstance().getJhsModelService() !=null)
    setCurrentUISkin((String) getCurrentModule().getAttribute(SKIN_ATTRIBUTE_NAME));
    catch (Exception e)
    // do nothing, return "previous" currentUISkin;
    return this.myCurrentUISkin;
    - Make a custom template for JhsCommonBeans.vm. In this template replace oracle.jheadstart.controller.jsf.bean.DynamicMenuBean with your own fully qualified class name
    - Set the JHS_COMMON_BEANS template key at service level to your custom template
    - Generate again.

  • Dymanic parameter with LOV from command demanding a parameter

    Hello,
    I have a problem with creating dynamic parameters. I use different query to form list of values for the main query parameter. Let's say this parameter is manufacturer_name, so I'm selecting distinct manufacturer_name values from some table. But every time I run this report I want report to promt me with parameter (some special tag) for select some filtered manufacturers. But when I create LOV query with parameter (tag), report keeps asking me for this parameter forever and never gets to show parameter promt for the main query with LOV from the first one. Am I doing something wrong or what I want is just not possible?
    Thanks
    gemi

    You might have given a default value to a main report command level parameter. Go to database expert in main report and edit the command level parameter and remove the default value in it.
    and check the report.

  • Item(select list) with LOV and Report with link = changed value item

    Hello,
    On one page I have:
    - Item 'P_name' (select list) with LOV to select name of a person;
    - Items 'factory' and Report 'factory'(standard created with 'Form with Report' on the same page).
    Situation:
    All works fine. I selected first a LOV Item 'P_name' (say 'Jane'). But....
    Only when I select a record (to change the values) from the report 'factory' then LOV Item 'P_name' become empty. Report used a link to the same page to fill the report items 'factory' and make also the LOV item empty.
    Question:
    I have made a process that write the name 'Jane' to table.
    I see two possibilities:
    - LOV Item value => fill the LOV item with 'Jane' from the table before region. Is this possible?
    - Report => What is the buttonname of reportlink? I can use this name in the processes.
    Thanks Walter!

    1) what i meant was for you to test this ridiculously huge LOV outside of htmldb, but it occurred to me last night that you could, in fact, be hitting a limit of ours. after some poking around, i have confirmed that. select list items in htmldb are currently limited to 10,000 rows. this was initially done for performance reasons, but they're now opening up the restriction. if you really need to work with that many rows where the user is allowed to pick from a set of values, consider using a popup item type instead. it'd help your app performance as well (in my test cases, it stank to have to wait for my 10k select list rows to come down to my browser).
    2) sorry to not have been more clear about this, but when you set your item's "Source Type" back to "Database Column", you'd have to specify that column in the "Source or value expression" field. also, you can't put a sql query into that "Post Calculation Computation" field. as i said before, "you can take a look at the attribute-level help for that field to see implementation examples."
    3) stick with "Always..." for now if you're using our auto-dml process(es)

  • Combobox with LOV showing ID but would like to display more meaningful text

    Hi, I'm experimenting with JDeveloper 11.2.
    I have a base table/eo with an FK ID to another table/eo which is a lookup table.
    On the base tables view I have created a combobox with LOV but it is showing the ID and I'd like it to show the name from the lookup table.
    So rather than showing the ID 1 I'd like it to show James instead.
    I can just about remember being able to do this in Oracle Designer.
    I know this is something stupid but I've searched Google and not come up with anything.
    CREATE TABLE ACCOUNTS
    ACCOUNT_ID NUMBER NOT NULL,
    ACCOUNT_LOGIN VARCHAR2(30 CHAR) NOT NULL,
    FIRST_NAME VARCHAR2(50 CHAR) NOT NULL,

    (ACCOUNT_ID));

    CONSTRAINT AMR_ACC_FK
    FOREIGN KEY (ACCOUNT_ID)
    REFERENCES ACCOUNTS (ACCOUNT_ID)
    ON DELETE CASCADE
    ENABLE VALIDATE);
    I've created the LOV on AccountModuleRolesView.

    1. Create a transient attribute AccountFirstName. - Created in AccountModuleRolesView1, attributes a transient string called AccountFirstName with an alias of VIEW_ATTR
    2. Create a VA on accountId attribute. - VA? There is a tab called View Accessors and I have three, one for each of the FK's.
    3. In attribute mapping ... Where abouts is that? After I've created the LOV?
    map ... accountId to accountId I did this in the LOV, list return values, using the VA's I linked in.
    and fristName to accountFirstName. Did this also in the same place.
    4. In UI hints shuttle accountFirstName. The field doesn't show up in the list to shuffle, only the underlying eo attributes.

  • URGENT - Form with LOV - Query Fails

    Hi All,
    I've a portal form, with about 10 fields and about 06 of them are combo boxes (attached to dynamic LOVs).
    I'm trying to perform a query using the ID and leaving all other fields blank, but no result is displayed. I am sure that the record for that ID exist in the database table.
    Can someone please suggest what should I do to be able to perform query in form with LOVs.
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi Jatinder
    I'm happy because you are apparently on the right way with 'your duplicate form'!
    "adjust the empty values" means to make sure, that the value of the simple empty field (in the duplicate form) is the same as the value of the corresponding LOV based combo box field (in the original form).
    Maybe this sounds easy, but in the matter of fact it isn't. Why?
    Look carefully at the following sample:
    You have a dynamic LOV based on the number column 'category' in your 'table_1'.
    So the basic part of the LOVs query looks like this:
    select distinct category from table_1;
    Now you still have to add the 'empty value' to your LOV to complete your request to find any value of 'category'. But if you add '0' or ' ' (blank) it wouldn't work. So you have to add NULL but this still doesn't work because you have to adjust NULL to the corresponding data type.
    Furthermore you have to be sure that the default LOV's value is the 'any value' one.
    Your complete LOVs query then looks like this:
    select distinct category from table_1
    union
    select to_number(null) from dual
    order by category desc;
    /* 'desc' for 'descending' ensures the NULL value to be on the top of the combo box */
    Now as you know how it works for number columns simply use the analog logic for character columns with to_char(null) and for date columns with to_date(null).
    That's it.
    Thanks
    Peter

  • Problems with LOVs

    I'm working with ADF 11g, and I have a problem when i work with LOVs.
    I have a table in my database which has a composite primary key of 4 fields (columns). I have also created a viewObject for this table and i have added a list of values to each field. After this, i created an ADF Table in my JSF page.
    When i execute my page i have problems editing and creating a register, as only the first LOV it's available. The other LOVs don't open when I select them.
    I'm working with more pages with some LOVs in each of them and they work fine. I only found problems while working with pages that have composite primary keys.
    Could you please tell me a way to solve this?
    Thank you in advance.

    In the EO and VO I've checked the option "While New" in the four fields of primary key.
    If I make AM Tester, works properly. However, in jspx page I get an error when trying to open the second LOV.

  • Input Text with LOV in table, the search list will be limited with 25 row?

    Hi, experts
    I got a strange problem with JDev 11.1.1.5.0, I created Input Text with LOV in Data View for one attribute with default setting, the LOV worked fine when I drop the DC with 'ADF form'; but when I drop it with ADF Table, the search function will just show 25 rows, I can see it try to fetch data when scroll down just like form, but then nothing happened, only the first 25 rows will be show without any error log.
    Any special configuration needed for LOV in table? or a bug in LOV?
    many thanks.

    You can change the range size on the VO which you use for the LOV. If you only want to change it for the VO the lov uses, select the VO in question in the application module data model and clic edit. There you enter -1 fro raneg size.
    If you want to change it globaly for this VO you open the VO and select the Tuning section and check 'all at once' which should get you all rows. Be careful that the VO don't return too much rows. A LOV wiht more then 50 rows is too big. In this case you may choose an other component.
