Combining query rules and wildcards

Hi,
is there a way to use wildcards and query rules in one query? For example i have a keyword "customer" which allowes me to search in a specific list. Now i would like search with additional wildcards because i maybe don't know the whole name of
the customer e.g. "customer micro*". The problem is now, that when a i use the wildcard in this combination, i do not get any results.
Many thanks!
Michael

maybe i used the word keyword in a wrong context. I didnt mean the keywordquery, only the keyword"Query Contains Action Term"
you can define in the query rules configuration.

I have access to our Search Service Application (SSA) within Central Administration.  I am able to get to all of the options within Search Administration except for Query Rules and Result Sources.  Does this require farm admin access or is there
something special that needs to be done for access to these two areas?  I can get to all of the Diagnostics, Crawling, and the other Queries and Results options without issue.  Our farm admin has been looking at it, but we have not been able to determine

    Hi scalawagd,
This issue seems to be about permissions. Please add the user into the search service administrator group and give him full control, compare the result. You can try to give the user permission like the screenshot:

  • Update Collection by Query rule and condition

    Hi,
I have one collection called Windows 7 Machines.
I've added a Query that I made like this:
    select SMS_R_SYSTEM.ResourceID,SMS_R_SYSTEM.ResourceType,SMS_R_SYSTEM.Name,SMS_R_SYSTEM.SMSUniqueIdentifier,SMS_R_SYSTEM.ResourceDomainORWorkgroup,SMS_R_SYSTEM.Client from SMS_R_System inner join SMS_G_System_OPERATING_SYSTEM on SMS_G_System_OPERATING_SYSTEM.ResourceID
    = SMS_R_System.ResourceID where SMS_G_System_OPERATING_SYSTEM.Caption like "% Windows 7 %"
    And it's working.
What I want the collection to do, is to update membership so Members Count is based on clients that is actively communicating with the SCCM server, and exclude those who haven't communicated with the server for 40 days.

GREAT NEWS :D  I've managed to configure the Clients Status by following the previous guide that i posted from technet.
Now is the only challenge to complete the Query. As i wrote above :
I don't understand is where to put the "client = active" statement, i've tried like this but it gives me This query has a syntax error, Are you sure you want to save it? Yes / No
    select SMS_R_SYSTEM.ResourceID,SMS_R_SYSTEM.ResourceType,SMS_R_SYSTEM.Name,SMS_R_SYSTEM.SMSUniqueIdentifier,SMS_R_SYSTEM.ResourceDomainORWorkgroup,SMS_R_SYSTEM.Client from SMS_R_System inner join SMS_G_System_OPERATING_SYSTEM on SMS_G_System_OPERATING_SYSTEM.ResourceID
    = SMS_R_System.ResourceID where SMS_G_System_OPERATING_SYSTEM.Caption like "% Windows 7 %" client = active
Thank you very much for your time.

  • REST API and best bets / query rules

Is there a bug in this?  I can not get best bet results regardless of the query string.  For example, the following (according to MSDN documentation) should process the query rules and return a best bet.  But it doesnt.  Am I doing something
wrong in the query?  It only seems to return ordinary results.  Performing the same search via Sharepoint's UI returns the best bet at the top.
    $.ajax({
    url: "http://myserver/sites/mysite/_api/search/query/?processbestbets=true&enablequeryrules=true&querytext='" + searchText + "'",
    type: 'GET',
    headers: {
    "accept": "application/json; odata=verbose"
    success: myCallback,
    error: function(data) {
    alert(data.responseXML.text);

    Hi Scott,
With EnableQueryRules and ProcessBestBets set to true in the search rest api, we can get the promoted results(best bets) in SharePoint 2013.
I recommend to type the search rest api URL in the browser directly and then check if the best bets are displayed at the top of the search results.
It will not displayed inside the table for normal results.
Please also make sure that the query text matches the query rule condition.
    Thanks,
    Victoria

  • ATG Search | Query Rules are not executing

    Hi,
We want to put some search relaxation, for example partial entry of a search term returns results i.e.if user enter "shi" results should show all shirts.
    Followed following steps for that,
    1) Created query rules for wildcard pattern with a actions.(For example created a pattern "shi*" and action "prop, string, displayName,Shirt" , so that when a user enter "shi", search results would return all products whose name contain "Shirt" or "Shirts".
    2) After indexing, verified Query Rules are applied; using "Index Review" (QueryRuleLoad -- 4 rules, 4 patterns, 4 actions, from stream)
    3) Layered the component /atg/commerce/search/catalog/QueryRequest property ruleMode to exec so that search request contain "ruleMode=exec" as per ATG docs.
    4) Clear and Disable cache using the component : /atg/search/routing/CacheService/
    5) Search submitted on site for "shi".
    6) Verified Search request XML that "ruleMode=exec" is being send to Search Engine.
But as per query rules, search results/response are not coming, verified response XML, but didn't find any clue.
Are we missing any configuration for query rules to execute or the pattern & action which we have created are not proper ?
    Thanks,
    Sarbajeet

    Hi  ,
According to your description, my understanding is that you want to configure Query Rule for the SharePoint Contextual Search (by default its result page is osssearchresult.aspx).
As far as I know, the Query Rules
work in the SharePoint Contextual Search when you define them on site level. You can create your query rule in
your Site ->  Site Settings -> Search -> Query Rules.
Meanwhile the SharePoint Contextual Search is based on the result sources defined in the Site Settings->Search -> Result Sources, you need to make
the result source of your Query Rule to the above Result Source.

  • Transport Rule and Journaling rule query

HI I am using Exchange 2010
i am using transport rule and journaling agent in my setup.
i would like to know when both agents applied to an user which agent applied first transport or journaling?
    Ex:
On server, I have created n Transport Rule policy for an user to to move all incoming mails deleted items for the same user i have created journaling policy to move all incoming mails journaled.
    which one will get apply?
    Thanks

    Hi  chandru CT
    Thank you for your question
The transport rule will be applied firstly.
The difference between transport rule and journaling role is that transport rule make the original mail BCC to someone by mail. But  Journaling role make the original mail send to someone by attachment .

  • BOXIR2: Use of Minus Combined Query - DeskI vs. WebI

We have a BOXIR2 DeskI report that is a very simple combined query using MINUS. Creating the exact same combined query in WebI displays a significantly higher row count in the report table. However, both report formats bring back the exact same number of rows into the cube. It as is WebI is not evaluating the MINUS at all.
Anyone have issues with MINUS combined queries when creating WebI docs vs. DeskI?
Edited by: Kevin Smolkowicz on Feb 11, 2009 8:55 PM

    Thanks Sarbhjeet!
However, I am trying to get my head around how the 2 report formates handle the data.
In DeskI, the combined query brings all the data back from the database and then performs the MINUS comparison at the application level?  I think this based on...
    DESKI
Combined Query: Returns back 38,457 rows to the data cube
Combined Query #1 (run by itself): Returns 37,927 rows
Combined Query #2 (run by itself): Returns 530 rows
The report displays the 13 distinct rows that satisfy the MINUS rules
WEBI: With 'Retrieve duplicate rows unchecked
Combined Query: Returns only the 107 rows that satisfy the MINUS rules and correctly displays the 13 distinct rows in the report
WEBI: With 'Retrieve duplicate rows checked
Combined Query: Returns back 38,457 rows to the data cube
Combined Query #1 (run by itself): Returns 37,927 rows
Combined Query #2 (run by itself): Returns 530 rows
The report displays the distinct rows of the 38,457 some of which do NOT satisfy the MINUS.  It is like it is not evaluating at all.
Anyway, the resolution worked...just trying to understand the mechanics behind it a bit.
    Thanks again.

    Some Tips -
1)Identify long-running extraction processes on the source system. Extraction processes are performed by several extraction jobs running on the source system. The run-time of these jobs affects the performance. Use transaction code SM37 — Background Processing Job Management — to analyze the run-times of these jobs. If the run-time of data collection jobs lasts for several hours, schedule these jobs to run more frequently. This way, less data is written into update tables for each run and extraction performance increases.
2)Identify high run-times for ABAP code, especially for user exits. The quality of any custom ABAP programs used in data extraction affects the extraction performance. Use transaction code SE30 — ABAP/4 Run-time Analysis — and then run the analysis for the transaction code RSA3 — Extractor Checker. The system then records the activities of the extraction program so you can review them to identify time-consuming activities. Eliminate those long-running activities or substitute them with alternative program logic.
3)Identify expensive SQL statements. If database run-time is high for extraction jobs, use transaction code ST05 — Performance Trace. On this screen, select ALEREMOTE user and then select SQL trace to record the SQL statements. Identify the time-consuming sections from the results. If the data-selection times are high on a particular SQL statement, index the DataSource tables to increase the performance of selection (see no. 6 below). While using ST05, make sure that no other extraction job is running with ALEREMOTE user.
4)Balance loads by distributing processes onto different servers if possible. If your site uses more than one BW application server, distribute the extraction processes to different servers using transaction code SM59 — Maintain RFC Destination. Load balancing is possible only if the extraction program allows the option
5)Set optimum parameters for data-packet size. Packet size affects the number of data requests to the database. Set the data-packet size to optimum values for an efficient data-extraction mechanism. To find the optimum value, start with a packet size in the range of 50,000 to 100,000 and gradually increase it. At some point, you will reach the threshold at which increasing packet size further does not provide any performance increase. To set the packet size, use transaction code SBIW — BW IMG Menu — on the source system. To set the data load parameters for flat-file uploads, use transaction code RSCUSTV6 in BW.
6)Build indexes on DataSource tables based on selection criteria. Indexing DataSource tables improves the extraction performance, because it reduces the read times of those tables.
7)Execute collection jobs in parallel. Like the Business Content extractors, generic extractors have a number of collection jobs to retrieve relevant data from DataSource tables. Scheduling these collection jobs to run in parallel reduces the total extraction time, and they can be scheduled via transaction code SM37 in the source system.
8). Break up your data selections for InfoPackages and schedule the portions to run in parallel. This parallel upload mechanism sends different portions of the data to BW at the same time, and as a result the total upload time is reduced. You can schedule InfoPackages in the Administrator Workbench.
You can upload data from a data target (InfoCube and ODS) to another data target within the BW system. While uploading, you can schedule more than one InfoPackage with different selection options in each one. For example, fiscal year or fiscal year period can be used as selection options. Avoid using parallel uploads for high volumes of data if hardware resources are constrained. Each InfoPacket uses one background process (if scheduled to run in the background) or dialog process (if scheduled to run online) of the application server, and too many processes could overwhelm a slow server.
9). Building secondary indexes on the tables for the selection fields optimizes these tables for reading, reducing extraction time. If your selection fields are not key fields on the table, primary indexes are not much of a help when accessing data. In this case it is better to create secondary indexes with selection fields on the associated table using ABAP Dictionary to improve better selection performance.
10)Analyze upload times to the PSA and identify long-running uploads. When you extract the data using PSA method, data is written into PSA tables in the BW system. If your data is on the order of tens of millions, consider partitioning these PSA tables for better performance, but pay attention to the partition sizes. Partitioning PSA tables improves data-load performance because it's faster to insert data into smaller database tables. Partitioning also provides increased performance for maintenance of PSA tables — for example, you can delete a portion of data faster. You can set the size of each partition in the PSA parameters screen, in transaction code SPRO or RSCUSTV6, so that BW creates a new partition automatically when a threshold value is reached.
11)Debug any routines in the transfer and update rules and eliminate single selects from the routines. Using single selects in custom ABAP routines for selecting data from database tables reduces performance considerably. It is better to use buffers and array operations. When you use buffers or array operations, the system reads data from the database tables and stores it in the memory for manipulation, improving performance. If you do not use buffers or array operations, the whole reading process is performed on the database with many table accesses, and performance deteriorates. Also, extensive use of library transformations in the ABAP code reduces performance; since these transformations are not compiled in advance, they are carried out during run-time.
12)Before uploading a high volume of transaction data into InfoCubes, activate the number-range buffer for dimension IDs. The number-range buffer is a parameter that identifies the number of sequential dimension IDs stored in the memory. If you increase the number range before high-volume data upload, you reduce the number of reads from the dimension tables and hence increase the upload performance. Do not forget to set the number-range values back to their original values after the upload. Use transaction code SNRO to maintain the number range buffer values for InfoCubes.
13)Drop the indexes before uploading high-volume data into InfoCubes. Regenerate them after the upload. Indexes on InfoCubes are optimized for reading data from the InfoCubes. If the indexes exist during the upload, BW reads the indexes and tries to insert the records according to the indexes, resulting in poor upload performance. You can automate the dropping and regeneration of the indexes through InfoPackage scheduling. You can drop indexes in the Manage InfoCube screen in the Administrator Workbench.
14)IDoc (intermediate document) archiving improves the extraction and loading performance and can be applied on both BW and R/3 systems. In addition to IDoc archiving, data archiving is available for InfoCubes and ODS objects.
    Hope it Helps

  • Query rule using query variables

    Hi All,
I am working on a query rule in SharePoint 2013. I am trying to build a query text using query variables to provide profile based results to the users. The query text which I am using in the query builder is of the following format:
    {SearchBoxQuery} CombinedLanguage:{User.PreferredContentLanguage}
but its not taking the user.preferredcontentlanguage value. Has any one worked on similar type of query rules using query variables? Please share your suggestions.
    Thanks !!

    Hi,
As I understand, you cannot get the user.preferredcontentlanguage value.
    1. Make sure you have set the value of query variable {user.preferredcontentlanguage}, it will return -1 if not set.
    2. Make sure you search in the right result source.
    3. Please check the crawled property mapped to the managed property CombinedLanguage and make sure that there is at least one value indexed by the crawled property equal to the {user.preferredcontentlanguage}.
The article below is about the query variables.

  • Output mismatch between BEx query output and WebI Report output

    Hi All,
I have a BEx query in which there are only characteristics placed in rows.
There are combinations of the values of the characteristics giving different records in the query output.
Date is one of the characterisctics in the query output.
There is an output mismatch between the query output and the WebI report output in the following case:
When there are 'Not Assigned' or '#' or blank values, there are additional entries(rows) in the WebI report, giving repeating or wrong entries in the Date field. This is incorrect data.
Is this because of the  'Not Assigned' or '#' or blank values of the Characteristics or is there any other reason?
    How do I fix this?
    Please helo me with this.
    Thanks and Regards,
    Srilakshmi B

    Hi Rajesh,
I need to verify the WebI report output for records with # and 'Not assigned' values for the cHracteristics in the report.
So I cannot check the WebI report by hiding the # or Not assigned values.
The problem is that in the Query output the records are like these shown below:
    Char1                    CHar2                          CHar3                       Date field
    A                             B                                 C                                Date1
#(Not assgined)      #(Not assgined)      #(Not assgined)             No value
Where as the WebI report output is as below:
    Char1                    CHar2                          CHar3                       Date field
    A                             B                                 C                                Date1
    #(Not assgined)      #(Not assgined)      #(Not assgined)            Date1
As shown here, there are wrong/repeating entries for the Date field in the WebI report output.
Please check this and let me know what could be the issue and how do I fix it.

  • Insert combination of f1 and f2 in f3 in all records

    hi
    i have a table tabl1 containg fields f1, f2, f3. All fields are varchar2. tabl1 contains 45000 rows. fields f1 and f2 have values and f3 is empty. I want to insert combination of f1 and f2 in f3 in all 45000 records. e.g.
    row1: f1 = 'nottingham', f2 = 'london' ........ now f3 should be 'nottingham london'
    row2: f1 = 'beeston', f2 = 'new york' ........ now f3 should be 'beeston new york'
    row45000: f1 = 'derby', f2 = 'sheffield' ........ now f3 should be 'derby sheffield'
plz write me a query that can perform this insert into field f3.
    thanks

Are you using the same client session to check the results or another one? If you are using another session, have you commited the changes? Do you really have data in f1 and f2?

  • SQL query SUM and AVG

    Hi all,
I think I'm being really stupid but I'm having SQL query issues.
I have a table with lots of lines of transactions which all refer to different stores, for example:
    Store..............._Sales_............._Month_
    Reading............200k..............April
    Leeds...............50k................April
    Manchester........70k................May
    Reading............100k..............May
I need to come up with the average Sales for the combined months as a total. I.e. the average Store revenue for a given period is 200k+ 50k + 70k +100k / *3* (As there are only 3 unique stores) - hopefully this makes sense!
So essentially I am trying to do both a SUM query (and grouping by store) and then outputting the average of all stores together. Is this possible?
    Thank you,

    Hello,
This query returns 140 what seems to be the correct value:
    with data as
    ( select 'Reading' Store
      , 200 sales
      from dual
      union
      select 'Leeds'
      , 50
      from dual
      union
      select 'Manchester'
      , 70
      from dual
      union
      select 'Reading'
      , 100
      from dual
    select sum(sales)
    , count( distinct store )
    , sum(sales)/count(distinct store)
    from dataThere are multiple options:
    1. You can get two IR's on one page (by using IFRAMEs - search for that word on the Forum)....
    2. You create another region with the query above and position that just below the report
    3. In the Region Footer call a PL/SQL process (using AJAX) that calculates the value using the query and prints it there (using htp.p)

The lack of this feature is an inexcusable oversight for an enterprise management product.  They have some serious lightweights making design decisions on the SCOM team. 5 thumbs down.
BTW the answer is probably LOTS of stuff. Literally 100's of workflows are running on any server.
The following OpsMgr DB query will list all running monitors on a server. Change the name of @srv. I think this works pretty well.  I'd like some feedback if something is missing.
