Combining tracks and breaking up tra

Can anyone teach me how I can combine several tracks into one track?
My issue is that I have a CD that has 42 tracks, many less than a minute long. On the CD box itself they are grouped into seven grou
ps.
If you are listening to the entire CD the fact that each group is divided into tracks is not an issue, but if you are ripping the CD onto an MP3 player and listening to tracks randomly...
Anyway, I would like to know how I can take tracks -8 and make the entire thing into track , tracks 9-7 into track 2, etc.
=============
Separately, I would also like to know how I can take a long track and divide it into two tracks.

I rip audio books and run into that same problem. Each CD has 70+ little files. I rip them and join them into chapters. I've used this app for years. It is not free, but worth it.

  • Combine tracks no longer an option

When I import audio books from CDs, I combine all the tracks on the CD into one for a number of reasons. I put the disk in, stop the import, select all the tracks, select the "combine tracks" option from the options menu and then click "Import CD". I have done this numberous times successfully until the latest import.
This approach worked fine for the first eight discs but on the ninth, the combine tracks menu item was not there. I tried a music CD and got the same result. I quit and restarted iTunes - same result. I restarted the computer - same result. I put in a CD that I had previously combined tracks and imported. I selected all the tracks and the un-combine option was available under the options menu. I un-combined the tracks and then tried to combine them again, but the combine tracks option was not there.

Any ideas or solutions would be appreciated.

Select the CD and sort on the very first with the numbers.

  • Combining tracks on songs bought from iTunes

How do I combine tracks once the music is in iTunes? I lsiten to mainly classical music and although iTunes breaks each piece up into individual tracks, i want to keep each piece as a whole - makes the library easier to access

You cannot combine music in iTunes, other than at import from an Audio CD.
If you bought music at the iTMS, your only workaround is to burn it on an Audio CD (not data or mp3) and re-import them.
Choose 'Join CD Tracks' from the Avanced menu in the menubar.

A series of video files (0001.MTS to 0005.MTS) were imported into premiere, when moved to timeline premiere combined them and made them look like one long clip named 0001.MTS. Multiple motion edits and opacity edits were made. When project manager moved the project, the actual video content of 0002.MTS to 0005.MTS was missing(source clips are still there but they were playing and working as part of that 0001.MTS timeline clip before). Those parts of the 0001.MTS clip in the timeline were Danger Striped and can be relinked but now have no edits anymore. The edits are apparently only linked with the original 0001.MTS source clip but extend beyond the actual range of the actual source clip. At the time I thought it was weird that premiere displayed the whole string of clips as one (with one name and no breaks) but it all works in the original project file but cannot be transferred to another location without multiple clips showing Danger Stripes.I need to move it and preserve the dozens of motion and opacity edits linked to the apparently oversized timeline clip. HELP!! any ideas?
I did not nest any clips or sequences, premiere just seemed to combine the clips under one name when I moved them to timeline.

  • Is there a script (or plugin) that will take a photo and break it up into parts?

Is there a script or plug-in out there that will take a picture and break it up into various parts (squares for example.)  The idea would be that you could automate and rapidly create a photo collage of a single image.  (See examples of what I mean in attached pics.)
    Thanks!

    You get the idea.

OK, I'm going to edit this post now that I'm at a computer with an actual step by step.
Create a new comp the size of you our final delivered project.
Add a photo to the timeline
Note the size of the photo and the scale to position the photo at it's final resting place
Calculate twice the height and width of the photo and create a new solid that is this size
Place the solid above the photo
Create a mask in the solid at the exact center that is the size shape you want for your photo frame
Either invert the mask or set the mask property to Subtract to reveal a small portion of the photo
Set the solid as a alpha inverted track matte for the photo (you should now see only a portion of the photo
Add a rectangular shape layer with only a stroke to act as the photo frame over the mask. You may have to use two shapes or create a mask on a shape if you want to simulate polaroids
Make the shape layer the parent of the solid you are using as a track matte so the matte will stay lined up with the frame
Here comes the fun, select all layers and duplicate them using Ctrl/Cmnd + D
Immediately hold down Shift + Ctrl/Cmnd + } to move all duplicates to the top
Select the top shape layer and move the shape layer frame into a new position
    Pre-compose the top 3 layers
Press the y key to select the Pan Benind or Anchor Point tool and move the pre-comp's anchor point to the center of the top frame
Repeat step 11 through 15 until you have arranged your montage (it might be a good idea to have a template set up as a guide layer so you know where to put the frames
Select all pre-comps and press Alt/Option + P to set a position keyframe for each pre-comp
With all of the keyframe selected move them down the timeline about 3 seconds
Now, with the CTI at the first frame drag each pre-comp into a starting position for that frame
Preview and adjust the timing, then turn on motion blur
Your images will now assemble themselves into the final montage.
There is no script that I know of that will do all of this automatically, but it would not be too hard to write a script that would do the pre-composing if you have a ton of these to do. I'm guessing that with a little practice you could have a new picture frame created and moved into position in less than a minute. It takes me about 30 seconds. That means a 20 frame sequence should take you about a half hour. It might not be worth writing a script unless you have a ton of these to do. Select the bottom three layers and duplicate (Ctrl/Cmnt + D), group them at the top (Shift + Ctrl/Cmnd + } ), move the top frame layer into position, then Shift + Ctrl/Cmnd + C to pre-compose, then move the anchor point of the pre-comp, then do it again.... When you're done set a few keyframes.
As I said, you could write a script, but you'd need a different script to move each frame into position and the script would only work for one layout. If you made a template to put on the bottom so you knew where do place the frames and which order you wanted them you could do this by hand very quickly. The sample project that I'm including which was just quickly thrown together took me less than 10 minutes. Replace my photo with one of yours and you'll get the idea.

  • Using avid m-audio fast track and avid m-audio fast track solo together

I Wanted to use avid m-audio fast track and avid m-audio fast track solo together so that I can get 4 inputs
i I tried to select it, but could enable any one only. How can I use them together??

You can use only one device at a time I Logic. However, in the Audio MIDI Setup utility (Applications>Utilities) you can create an aggregate device, which effectively combines multiple devices into one "virtual" device, which you can then choose in Logics' coreaudio device setup.
How to combine multiple audio interfaces by creating an aggregate device

"I would love to have iTunes and my iPod sync the songs that the iPod played since its last updating into the song count in iTunes"
It does already do this... unless you use manual updating. Under auto updating, tracks played on your iPod should up the count in iTunes on your next sync.

  • EDL vid track and source file questions..

Can some one confirm and advise on this please.
PPRO can only export an EDL from a single Video Track ( you can choose which one).
Odd thing is that it recognises Vid 1 and Vid 2 as a single video track ( maybe a hangover from early iterations of PPRO when it was an A/B style timeline)
How does one suggest exporting EDLs from a sequence with multiple Vid tracks?     ( I am thinking I will have to collapse everything to Vid 1 & 2  but that is so inconvenient and complex... and I have 15 sequences to do).
Heres the next little EDL gottcha...( well it got-me) anyway
I shot AVCCAM (avchd)  to a different card each day.  ( This is a Caution to anyone using AVCHD)
Unlike the elegant P2 file unique name protocol...I  now have  source file names that are identical  eg 00001.mts, 00002.mts, 00003.mts  ....in the same project
    (AVCHD resets the .name clock.!!!)
Easily managed in my NLE system ( Rushes 1 and Rushes 2 source Folders)  no issue there... but it will get real interesting when I have to output edl and source files for Da Vinci Resolve and Flame Suite (next week).
    Any ideas guys...

I have never worked with EDL, but two questions/wild-shots-in-the-dark:
    - Export an EDL from each track, and then combine the EDL's in the target app?
    - Nesting, is that possible? (nest a multi-track sequence into a new one-track, and export an EDL from that)
Probably you see that I don't do to much broadcast work, so please excuse me if I'm way off...

  • Copying tracks and content between projects

I have 4 different projects in Logic 8 and I want to combine them all together into one big project including the tracks and automation data. Is this possible?. I have tried OMF/AAF and all the imoprt options but with only limited success(ie vol automation is copied but not pan and stereo files are force split).
    thanks for looking
    Gareth

I had the same question awhile back and the answer I got .... of course in a round about way.... was no. Everyone was saying to bounce the file and then import that into the session. I mean that works but its not ideal. Its things like this that really split me on Pro Tools and Logic.

  • Stories Tracks and Markers HELP!

I am creating a DVD that does the following.
    2 tracks 1 hour each
1 Main menu per track, with submenus, and a play all button.
ie: Main menu has 5 buttons, each of the 5 leads to a submenu with 5 buttons.
So I was thinking of using chapters... 1a,1b,1c,1d,1e,2a,2b,2c,2d,2e,3a,...5e
I know about the 99 chapter limit... I should be ok.
I want to do the following:
-Play whole section: 1a,1b,1c,1d,1e, go back to submenu
-Play whole section: 2a,2b,2c,2d,2e, go back to submenu
    -etc...
-Play subsection: 1b or 1c or whatever, go back to submenu
    -Play all: 1a,1b,1c.....5c,5d,5e
I created some scripts to set a GPRM depending on: play section, play subsection, or play all.... I put these on the menu buttons
I also created scripts to check the GPRM value, I placed these on the chapter markers.
But it doesn't work... The play section and play all, never complete...
    I hope this makes sense...
Any help would be much appreciated.
    Intel   Mac OS X (10.4.9)

Hi - welcome to the discussions.
Start using stories with those chapter markers... you can have 1 track and 98 stories in total (or any combination totalling 99), and so you should easily be able to fit all you need into these.
Set the menu buttons to point to the story containers, not the markers, and set the end jumps and menu calls for each story as you need them to be.
For playing a single chapter, just place a single marker into the story. Similarly, for multiple chapters, place all the markers you need into the story. For play all, either point the menu button to the track, or add a story which has all of the markers in it.
This should get you up and running!

  • Combined Audio and Video bitrate question

When combining audio and video, how does the bitrate of the audio affect the calculation of the total bitrate? If I set my video compression bitrate at 5.5/7.5, how should those numbers be altered if I have, say, two Dolby Digital 2.0 streams at 192kbs each and a 5.1 surround stream at 448kbs?

From the DVD Studio Pro User Manual (p. 43):
Beware of Setting Your Bit Rate Too High
You will find that with some DVD projects, the content easily fits on the disc, and you may be tempted to use the highest video bit rate available. While higher bit rates produce better quality, you must take into account other factors before deciding to use the maximum allowable value.
The maximum video bit rate allowed on SD-based DVDs is 9.8 Mbps, but rarely is that practical to use since DVD players support combined video, audio, and subtitle bit rates of up to 10.08 Mbps. For HD-based DVDs, the maximum video bit rate is 29.4 Mbps for HD assets and 15.0 Mbps for any SD assets used in an HD project, with an overall maximum bit rate of 30.24 Mbps.
In practice, you should be conservative when determining how high of a bit rate to allow for. Trying to squeeze out the highest possible bit rate for your project can lead to player compatibility and disc space issues. A general recommendation is to not exceed 9.2 Mbps for the combined video and audio bit rates when authoring SD projects, or 29 Mbps when authoring HD projects.
Important: If you are building your project and DVD Studio Pro detects that the bit rate of the multiplexed stream is too high, the build stops and an error message appears.
    Using PCM or AC-3 Audio
A single PCM audio stream using typical settings (as produced with the embedded AIFF encoder) requires 1.536 Mbps, which leaves an absolute maximum bit rate for the video in an SD project of around 8.54 Mbps. If there are two PCM audio streams, 3.07 Mbps must be allowed for the audio, leaving just 7.01 Mbps for the video.
Note: Even though you can only play one audio stream at a time, the bit rates of all audio streams must be added together when determining the overall bit rate for a track. Similarly, all subtitle streams must be added together and added to the overall bit rate.
Using AC-3 audio in place of the PCM audio leaves far more room for the video bit rate. Stereo AC-3 audio using typical settings requires only about 224 kbps—using two stereo AC-3 streams in place of the PCM audio leaves about 9.6 Mbps for the video.
See “Calculate the audio allowances” on page 636 for more information about allowances for other audio formats.
    Hope this helps
    Good luck!

  • Insert track (song) breaks in a long compilation

    Hello everyone.
For about a month now, I have been messing with GB and even tried Audacity to find a solution to my problem:
I have many single, long song DJ compilations on iTunes that consist of different songs smoothly transitioning into the next one to make an hour long single song. When I playback on computer or iPhone, no problem, I can quickly move from one song to another. However when I burn onto a CD and play in the car, I have to hold the forward button FOREVER to get to parts I want to hear.
How do I insert breaks into the long song, so when I burn onto CD, I can just hit next track and have 15 (or so) single songs to work with?
I would be eternally grateful for any help.

HangTime, I think I found what you were saying. I went to Show Podcast Track, than added appropriate markers.
Now do I just export this song (12 songs) to iTunes by means of: "Share Podcast to iTunes"? I tried that, but got a message that it cannot be exported as enhanced version.

  • Why did apple remove the combine tracks option in importing settings

itunes for windows 7. APPLE took away the combine tracks option in import settings, why?

I can't see all of the screen - are the tracks ordered by track number?  If so, then the "Join Tracks" option should be available to you.  If you follow this sequence of operations (with apologies if this seems tediously obvious ...):
    insert CD
wait for track info to appear
click on the heading of the column containing track numbers (normally this will be ordered sequentially, first to last, and the column will have a "^" symbol in the heading:
The track order should now be reverse (highest to lowest), with a down arrow symbol in the heading
Click on the column heading a second time - this will ensure that tracks really are in correct sequential order
Now hold down SHIFT and select the first of the tracks you want to join followed by the last of the tracks you wish to join.  One set of tracks should now be highlighted.
    Click on Options
If you're still not seeing the "Join Tracks" option then there may be an underlying issue that'll require further investigation.

  • How can I combine Left and Right audio?

    Hi,
When I record video, one lapel mic records to the left channel and the other records to the right channel in one audio track. I can't seem to figure out how to combine them within Premiere Pro (I've already attempted searching the forums for more info). I know in Sony Vegas you can right click the single audio track and select "Combine" and it will combine the 2 channels so that when people watch the end product you have both voices coming out of both speakers.
    Any help would be appreciated.
    Thanks
    Kelly G.

    Hello,
Yes i have the same issue.
I use the duplicate Audio track and fill left and right all the time.
when i am doing Interview videos i usually have one person on channel 1 and the other on channel 2 and it comes out as L and R in Premiere.
Today i was shooting with myself on Channel 2 and a shotgun for some ambient sound on channel 1.
In Vegas or FCP 7 there is a simple effect to drag and drop called " Combine" that nicely combines the L and R channels each into stereo.
I used to use it quite a bit and think it would be a great addition to Premiere Pro.
So i am wondering several years since this was first post if Premiere does in fact now have this option...and where it might be that i over looked it?
If not.....is there an easier way to do this than the fill left and right method?
    Thanks so Much!

Attached is Dennis Linam’s Audition – “Log File” and “Log – Last File”
    Contact information Dennis [email protected]
Previous contact information with your organization (DURIM):
Dennis - i just finished my audition trial and bought the subscription the 2014 version.

DURIM - Okay.  I would expect the "Cache Warning" message because your default directories would not be the same as the ones in the settings file I generated.
If you go back to the "7.0" directory and open the "Logs" folder, can you copy the "Audition Log.txt" file and send it as an attachment to [email protected]?  We'll take a look in that logfile and see if it gives us more information about why this is failing now.
Also, do you have any other Adobe applications installed on this machine, such as Premiere Pro?  If so, do they launch as expected or fail as well?
I do have the trial Pro version of Adobe reader, but I have not activated it, because I fear the same thing will happen did it. I cannot afford to activate the subscription for that product and take the chance of it not working either. I depend on those two programs religiously. Here is the files that you requested. I appreciate any help you can give me to get this audition program started
