Combo updates not loading.

I was at 10.6.4 tried updating to 10.6.7 Combo would not work. Tried 10.6.8 disk image wouldn't load. Now mail won't work. Tried 10.6.6 combo -  won't load. I'm on dial-up so I can only download when I bring my computer to work. HELP

Go to an Apple store or AASP with a blank DVD or 2.0 GB USB flash drive and ask them if the would put the 10.6.8 combo updater on it for you.

  • 10.4.11 Combo update not up to date?

I DL'd the combo update, and applied it to our MacBook (10.4.10). All went fine, but when I check 'Software Update', it tells me I need hundreds of MBs of updates to perform.
    Is this correct?
I support a few Macs in our family, some are on slower connections. I was hoping to take this combo update on an external HD, and update them w/o needing to wait a long time for downloads. But it looks like they won't be up-to-date, unless I do that. What is the point of the combo update, if I have to dl 100's MB anyhow?
Will Apple update their combo to make it more current? Should I wait?
    TIA - mwau

Actually, you could have downloaded the latest Tiger Combo Update 10.4.11 which would have included some of the individual updates you see in SoftwareUpdate. Then go to software update and install the Security ....
thanks, but... I did DL the combo updater. It is way out of date. Part of what I was hoping to accomplish was to not spend hours DL'ing all this stuff at the site (with a slow connection). I wanted to do it ahead of time, at home on my faster comnnection, and have it all ready to go.
What is the point of the combo update, if I have to dl 100's MB anyhow?
The Combo updates inlclude all updates, OS, Security, apps etc., up to the time of the release of the Combo update. Since all supported OSs are kept up to date, there are individual releases in between major Combo updates. Pretty neat system, considering you can always have an up-to-date system without much hassle. It is easiest to install the updates as they are released. Set up you Software Update application to check for updates weekly and you won't get as far behind.
    Good luck.

And that is the (Apple's and now my) problem+, 'up to the time of the release of the Combo update'+ which was last November, about 8 months ago. It is a neat concept, but it isn't all that useful when it is that outdated.
Updating weekly is a problem. This is on computers from my extended family, and they are not savvy enough to do a backup before updating, etc. So, I back them up and update them, and I can't do that once a week.
All I'm saying is, for these combo updaters to be as useful as Apple describes (download once, update several computers), they need to keep them more up to date.
Thanks for all the suggestions, some will help as work-arounds.

  • Since uploading Firefox 4 I get error messages saying it can't update and I should be sure I am using the latest version. I am, so why will updates not load?

The question is in the title. I have had no updates to Firefox 4, just error messages saying they can't be loaded and I should check that I am using the latest version. I have downloaded Firefox 4 again to be sure my copy is up to date but it makes no difference. I still get the error message.

Remove the files in the updates and updates\0 folder.<br />

-After clicking 'Next' a couple of times I have to select the location of the install

  • Mac OS 10.5.6 update not loading

Software update alerted today that 10.5.6 was available for download, so I downloaded it. After going through the required restart, the update started to load but then just hung there. The blue bar only moved about 1/4 of an inch for 10 minutes, so I was forced to do a hard shutdown. And, I went through this three times on 10/15/2008.
    Any help?

    Hello savvy:
This has happened to a number of people (including me on my Intel-based iMac). I was updating from OS X 10.5.5. I downloaded the updater from the web site (regular, not combo.. about 387 mb) and applied it. It updated "normally." I have been running OS X 10.5.6 since yesterday without problems.
I did delete (may or may not have been necessary) the OS X 10.5.6 pkg files that were previously downloaded.

  • 10.5.2 Graphics update not loading

Well after some trepidation I decided to go ahead and load the graphics update anyway (I don't use DVD player at all, and I wanted the graphics update so that Warcraft will run better).
But it won't install it for me!
I get an error message which reads:
The update “Leopard Graphics Update” can’t be saved.
The digital signature for this package is incorrect. The package may have been tampered with or corrupted since being signed by “Apple”
Does anyone have any ideas? Or should I just wait till the graphics update gets revamped?
    Thanks!

Stumbled upon this thread trying to find out if anyone's seen before what happened on my macbook pro this morning. it was the first time last night that i left X11 running before closing the lid for sleeping. this morning i was greeted with this:
    http://files.dataring.ee/27022008057.jpg
Disconnecting the external monitor in the hopes that it would somehow reset the display driver did not help, nor did reconnecting it. I could hear the sound effects of the software still running (Skype sounds etc) so I did not want to just power off the machine and risk some data corruption, I navigated blindly to the Apple menu and try to hit the 9th item from the top for Restart. There was some feedback from changing menu items with these random color blocks changing, same for cmd-tab activity etc, so definitely looks like a corrupt display driver problem and most like regarding running X11.
Now I am checking macosforge and it does appear that I am running an outdated XQuartz from last December. I'll hit the upgrade and see what happens.
Perhaps this is related some way to the original post!

  • Updates not loading

My iPad is showing 7 updates but none of them will load. When I hit Update All or just update on an individual app, the circle starts but then immediately goes back to Update. I have not yet updated to iOS 8 but haven't experienced any issues before this one. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you!

    Greetings PSUPrincss,
It seems you are unable to download updates from the App Store. You may want to consider restarting the device first, and then resetting if that does not work. This article provides detailed instructions for Restarting, and Reseting:
Restart or reset your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch - Apple Support
    How to restart
Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button until the red slider appears.
Drag the slider to turn your device completely off.
After the device turns off, press and hold the Sleep/Wake button again until you see the Apple logo.
    How to reset
You should reset your device as a last resort and only if you can't restart it.
To reset, press and hold both the Sleep/Wake and Home buttons for at least 10 seconds, until you see the Apple logo.
Thank you for contributing to Apple Support Communities.

  • App Store and Updates not loading in Mavericks

    Hi there,
Upgraded my imac to Mavericks and all was well.  Then there were some updates for my Aperture, iPhoto and iMovie (all previously purchased as full copies).  Something went wrong to my internet connection during the updates and the app store repeatedly asked for my Id and password, which I entered.
The downloads finally completed and the apps seem to work ok.
The problem arose when i went back to the app store and it would not open the application.  The toolbar for the app store appears but the appstore software doesnt.  No can not log in to app store to check updates and will not allow to check for updates from the Software Update option at the Apple logo.
Tried to restore from Time Machine but will not all it saying it needs the files for OSX.  Whats going on?
How can I restore the appstore, OSX and not lose my data - this is a family Mac and all our photos of our children and family are on it!
    Any help really appreciated.

If you continue to have problems with the App Store you might try this:
1 - enable the Debug menu in App Store:
    open the Terminal application.
copy the command below and paste into the Terminal window:
defaults write com.apple.appstore ShowDebugMenu -bool true
    followed by Enter.
    launch App Store, login.
2 - select the Debug ➙ Reset Application option:
    3 - try again.

  • Muse Updates Not Loading

I'm currently running Muse 4.0 build 557, on my Mac Pro 4,1 with OSX 10.6.8 (Snow Leopard). Everytime I invoke Muse from the App folder, I get a Muse splash screen and then a popup screen saying there is an update. When I try to install the update, the progress bar on the popup screen goes along without any hiccups to the end.
About half way in that progress an icon appears which is, I believe, a disk image for the update installer. The big popup screen disappears and it looks like the only thing to do is double click installer image icon. Doing that pops up another window with the update installer app inside it. Double clicking that installer app to either gray if you double click or blue if you single click.
Nothing else happens. It apparently never starts and just sits there. 2 icons also have snuck into the dock, one of which is an air thingy and the other is a Muse thingy. Clicking on those produce the same results = NOTHING.
On the advice of Zak I downloaded & installed a newer air installer that was supposed to fix a bug in the older one, but there was no joy after that either.
Does anyone out there have any clue as to what may be preventing the update installer from working?
Why doesn't Adobe roll it into an update for Muse that the Adobe App Manager can handle like was done not too long ago?
I'm not enjoying any of this. This program was obviously not well beta tested and seems to be vapor-ware that was rushed to market before it was ready.
    Ken

For those coming to this thread, the discussion started and continued here <http://forums.adobe.com/message/5217999#5217999>.
At this point the short version is I expect the AIR Application Installer is running "correctly" but in doing so is taking the time to scan the 4 terabytes of drives that are mounted looking for older versions of the application and that's taking a very long time.
I have an e-mail out within Adobe to learn more about the reasons behind the completeness of this scan and to learn whether/how we might be able to disable it or otherwise reduce the impact for future updates of Muse. For now the only workarounds are to either wait it out or temporarily unmount all but the necessary drives prior to running the installer/update in order to reduce the number of files scanned as part of the install/update process.

  • App store updates not loading

Starting yesterday, I have been receiving App Store notifications for new updates, but, when I open the App Store and the Updates section, nothing ever loads. The page remains blank. Sometimes, the indicator that something is downloading will appear for a few seconds, then it stops. Most of the time, it won't even do that much. I have tried closing the app and restarting it several times, but this doesn't help.

  • Aperture 2.1.4 update will not load after Snow Leopard update

Has any one found the fix for aperture 2.1.4 update not loading after the installation of Snow Leopard. I to am also getting the alert "aperture 2.0 or later is required to install the update". I installed my copy of aperture 2.1 using the installer with no problems so the program is in the correct location. I've seen the posts related to this problem and it does not seem a fix has been found.

Just ran into this myself. I did check to see if there was a preference to delete under ~/Library/Preferences and one is not created since 2.1 is never actually launched. 2.1 is sitting in the root of Applications and hasn't been renamed, but the 2.1.4 update just doesn't detect that it is there and just gives the alert "Aperture 2.0 or later is required to install this update."

  • Safari not loading any webpages after 10.7.3 update.

I did the update through software update, and I saw a lot of people having errors with that, but i did not get the cui error, my only issue is safari stopped loading any webpages.
If I try to enter an address in the bar and hit enter, it just beachballs, and than nothing happens, before it used to just keep trying to load it.
I than downloaded the combo updater, opened the dmg, and installed over it, restarted and same issue
Prior to the combo update I repaired any file permissions as well.
How do I get safari to work properly again?
I even uninstalled the clicktoflash extension.
    TIA.

From your Safari menu bar click Safari > Empty Cache
If that doesn't help, back to the menu bar click Safari > Reset Safari. Select the top 5 boxes click Reset.
If that didn't help, go to ~/Library/Preferences. Move the com.apple.Safari.plist file form the Preferences folder to the Desktop. Quit then relaunch Safari to test. If pages load, move that .plist file to the Trash. Otherwise, just move it back to the Preferences folder.
See if that helps. If not, go to Safari > Preferences then select the Security tab. Deslect:  Enable plug ins
Quit then relaunch Safari to test. If Safari loads pages, then you need to troublleshoot Safari add ons >  Safari: Unsupported third-party add-ons may cause Safari to unexpectedly quit or have performance issues'
If you have anti virus software installed, disable that. And turn off the Firewall in System Preferences > Security & Privacy. See if that helps.

  • Java not loading with Safari after updates

Recently, following security updates, Java applets that have
previously functioned fine do not any more. This is true for
Safari 2.0.3 (and in fact for Firefox 1.5); however, the applets
do load and function with Opera 5.
Looking at the Installed Plug-Ins list in Safari shows
Java 1.3.1 Plug-in (CFM) — from file “Java Applet Plugin Enabler”.
Java Switchable Plug-in (Cocoa) — from file “JavaPluginCocoa.bundle”
    Java 1.3.1 Plug-in — from file “Java Applet.plugin”
What is odd to me is that I have done the Software updates for
Java 1.4.2 and for Java 5.0. In addition in
    /Applications/Utilities/Java/
    we find, amongst other things,
    /Applications/Utilities/Java/J2SE 5.0/Java Cache Viewer.app:
    /Applications/Utilities/Java/J2SE 5.0/Java Preferences.app:
    /Applications/Utilities/Java/Java 1.3.1 Plugin Settings.app
    /Applications/Utilities/Java/Java 1.4.2 Plugin Settings.applist
I have run all three settings applications; set them I hope
correctly; and had no satisfaction. None of the three caches shows
    any content now.
I have recently removed ~/Library/Caches/Java* anyway.
I have deleted and reinstalled Safari from the distribution disc.
I have updated it (and whatever else gets treated at that time) with
the 10.4.6 Combo Updater. I've installed the Java updates 1.4.2 and
    1.5 (i.e. J2SE 5.0) separately too. Actually I've carried out such steps
    as mentioned more than once.
All the above to no avail. Java applets just don't load any more. Equally
annoying is that I have no mental picture of what ought to be
happening, nor any clue as to where to acquire one.
Please, could anyone help with the practical aspect of getting the
    applets going again?
As well, I would much appreciate being pointed to any good
explanations of what ought to be going on.
    iMac 4,1; Mac OS X (10.4.6)
    Safari 2.0.3; Java 1.3.1; Java 1.4.2; J2SE 5.0

Indeed I did the installations in a good order, and the applets were in
no way incompatible with the latest Java. However, as a result
of the update, or in some way or other that I am unaware of (including
the possibility that I did it myself, but had forgotten it) I was running
Safari 2.0.3 under Rosetta. Apparently this is 'well known' to stop the Java
applet service. I did not know this, and I found the possibility by
serendipity from a search on the discussion forums for 'Safari and
    Java applet'.
The message that was key for me was
    http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=1967571&#1967571
    where it was remarked
"The problem was that I was running Safari under - Rosetta. Turning off Rosetta made the problem go away."
So ignorant was I of what this meant that I floundered about a bit,
getting all the advertising hype about how wonderful Rosetta would
be or was, before I got the tip from my own machine's Help that I could
turn it off by unchecking a box in the GetInfo dialogue box for a program.
Indeed I found that 'Open using Rosetta' was checked for Safari. Removing
the Rosetta requirements means Java applets run again for me.
I don't see the Java plugins 1.4.2 and 1.5 in the
    'Safari>Help>Installed Plug-Ins'
window where the 1.3.1 version appeared before. But I do have
a Java Console window and it mentions 1.4.2, which I selected as
preferred in complying with the last suggestion offered me.
I note with interest that the last thing I did before the penny finally
dropped was to get the latest version of WebKit and try that. Java
applets do not work there, and Rosetta requirements have never been
    On!
I suppose I can now turn to getting Firefox working with Java applets.
It still does not: there is no special indication of this except that the
area where the applet output should be is left blank.
SO: If applets don't work, check early that you haven't selected
'Open using Rosetta' for the program Safari. It might be the easy
    answer to the problem.
