Combobox in a table in a dialog

I have a dialog box that contains a table. Some of the columns in the table are Combo boxes.
Upon some event the dialog is shown with some number of rows (items) in the table. The combo box contains all possible selections for the cell, which are objects of some class. The getValueAt() method of my table model (extension of AbstractTableModel) returns an object that exists in the combo box, so the toString() representation of that object is what gets displayed normally. I can select the cell, get the drop-down list and make a selection and all is well. Or, if I click in another cell in the table, the combo is closed and the selection is shown normally. There are buttons in the dialog that accept or cancel the values being presented in the table.
The problem I am having is that if I select the cell and the drop-down is shown, but instead of making a selection, I click the Cancel button. This causes all items in the table to be destroyed (without saving any changes) and the dialog made invisible. Then, when another event occurs and the same dialog box is made visible with new items (rows), the previously-selected cell is shown with the dark border and down arrow of a combo box, but not the drop-down list. The cell shows the first item in the combo list, not the one that would have been returned by the getValueAt() method of the model. So the correct selection for the item is not the one shown.
I would expect that when the dialog is reshown and the table rows are rebuilt that the remnants of the combo box would be gone. In other words, when the table contents are destroyed and the dialog closed, I would expect editing of a cell to be stopped and not remembered the next time the table is populated and shown.
How can I make sure that happens?
Thanks,
Wayne

You need to manually cancel the cell editing before 'destroying' the rows in the table.
CellEditor editor = table.getCellEditor();
if(editor != null) editor.cancelCellEditing();Similarly, you would want to call stopCellEditing() when the OK button is pressed, so any current edit is saved.

  • Refresh Table Data after dialog window is closed.

    I have a master-detail scenario where in Master records(Table Component) are displayed in top half of the splitter panel.

    After clicking on the LinkButton in Master record a bounded-task-flow is invoked in a separate inline dialog window (applicaitonModal).

  • Passing data from a Table in a Dialog to a Listbox in a Internal Frame

    Hi All,
    Currently I have 2 .java classes.
    In the first class, DisplayListBox.java, it would have listboxes in it and a textbox with a button, Find.
    Upon clicking on the "Find" button, it would create a dialog window and call the second class, TableSelection.java.
    Therefore now, the dialog window would contain a table with all the datas.
    Just in case you guys would like to know, the dialog window was created in the DisplayListBox.java class and the internal frame was being created in another cls upon clicking the menu btn.
    Upon selecting a cell in the table, i'd like to pass the value to the listbox in the internal frame, how can i go about doing it?
    I've got the coding for getting the value of a selected cells. However, i'm unsure of how i can pass the value retrieved to the listbox in the internal frame.
    Any help and advices are gladly appreciated! (:

    Thanks for your reply.
    However, I am quite new to java so is it possible for you to explain in details of how i should go about going it?
    To start off, could you tell me:
    1. Where do I create the ListSelectionListener? In the DisplayListBox.java or TableSelection.java?
    Sorry for the trouble but i just picked up java so I am pretty much unsure of all these stuff.
    Thanks for your help! (:

  • Add ComboBox Value to Table

    Hi,
    I have a problem. I created table, UDO and set form.objecttype with UDO. On the form I have some EditText items and ComboBox. After Add values from EditText items are insert into table, but ComboBox value not. I bind ComboBox with Column in a table. is there anything else what must be done with it?
    Regards,
    Hmg

    I solved the problem. Data didn't update because of matrix that was binded to same table. But anyone know why is it happenig? When there are edittext items and a matrix on the form and they are binded to same table and columns, why Update don't work?

  • Default value of the combobox in a table

    Hi,
    I am facing a strange problem.I have a column of a table of type comboBox.But when I try to retrieve the value of the cell of that table, it returns a blank value to me.I am using table.getValueAt(0,1) function.Where I am trying to retrieve the value of the element in row zero and column 1.
    But when I select something in the combobox then that value comes up, but if i don't select anything in the combobox, the default topmost value of the combobox is not returned.
    Any suggestions,

    Hi..
    my code looks like this:
    //to make the second column of the Left table a combobox

    //col.setCellEditor(new DefaultCellEditor(comboBox));
    col.setCellEditor(new MyComboBoxEditor(values));
    col.setCellRenderer(new MyComboBoxRenderer(values));
    class MyComboBoxRenderer

    else {
    setForeground(table.getForeground());
    setBackground(table.getBackground());
    // Select the current value
    setSelectedItem(value);
    return this;
    Somewhere in the code i have the following line:
    mDataModel1.addRow(new Object[] {mDSPathTextField.getText(),

  • Strange issue with table control in dialog programming! Please help!

    Hello everyone:
                I have a table control on screen painter and I have atleast 10 rows on display when user calls the screen. If I have 15 columns then ofcourse user has to scroll down to see extra rows. I have line selection set to "single" for table control so that user can select only one row at a time. This works fine when user does not have to scroll to see extra rows. It is tough for me to explain i.e., if the table control displays 10 rows when the screen opens up then they can only select single row at a time (rows 1 -10). For example user selected row 7 and now they scroll down to see extra rows (for example 13) then it lets them select row 13 also even though I set line selection to "single" in the properties for table control! They should be able to select only one row at a time. Is this some limitation with table control in SAP? Please give me any information you have.
    Thanks.
    Mithun

    Hi,
    As you suspected, this is a limitation in the table control.  You need to take care of the single-selection functionality yourself except for the rows that are actually being displayed.  See [Note 588284|https://service.sap.com/sap/support/notes/588284] for the official SAP explanation.

  • How to move the selected rows from a  table control in dialog programming

    I have to update some fields for a slected row in table control on click of a button and save it in database.

    see below example, I have added INSERT option after DELETE option, you can use same table or you can use differnt table by populating into that table and insert into the db table. If you want to use same internal table then use below code
    LOOP AT itab INTO demo_conn WHERE mark = 'X'.
    insert into table from itab.
    ENDLOOP.

  • Table control in dialog programming

    why we are using loops in pbo and pai events?

    Hi
    First have to know the concept of Table control
    The main purpose of table control is to display multiple records in a table like format.
    so when to wants to display the multiple records, the internal table from which the table control has to be populated has to be kept in loop both in PAI and PBO.
    see the doc
