COMM API - Not finding ports

Hi there.
I am having a severely irritating problem with the comm api. I wrote my program in netbeans v3.6 and it runs perfectly, no problems at all. My problem is when I try to run the program using the command prompt. It finds all the relevant .jar file, yet it does not find any ports. I have checked, then checked again and checked once more that the javax.comm.properties is installed properly. I've even re-downloaded it, but it still finds no ports. It finds the comm port fine it netbeans, using external execution. But no such luck from the prompt.
I'm running windows xp pro, SP2.
I would really appreciate any insight anyone has, so thanks a lot in advance...

Problem in Accessing serial port using java comm Api

I have installed java comm Api in my pc.
i have gone through the instalation instruction which comes on this package.
I have done the instalation like this
Copy win32com.dll to my <JDK>\bin directory.
Copy comm.jar to my <JDK>\lib directory.
Copy javax.comm.properties to my <JDK>\lib directory.
and restart the system.
But when i run the BlackBox , it is giving me message
"serial port not found".
Can any one tell me , what is the exact problem ?

I'm not sure what you mean by BlackBox, but I have used the COMM api extensively.
The majority of problems is that the api cannot see the serial port (which is what you are describing) and this is caused by incorrect placing of the javax.comm.properties file.
As well as <JDK>\lib, try putting it into <JRE>\lib as well. That has often solved problems on my setup.

Question of commapi - BlackBox could not find serial port.

I have installed jdk1.5.0_04 and commapi2.0_win32 at following directory
c:\Java\netbeans-4.1
c:\Java\jdk1.5.0_04
c:\Java\commapi
C:\Program Files\Java\jre1.5.0_04
Then I do exactly what installation instruction ask me to do
Copy win32com.dll to c:\Java\jdk1.5.0_04\bin
Copy comm.jar to c:\Java\jdk1.5.0_04\lib
Copy javax.comm.properties to c:\Java\jdk1.5.0_04\lib
However, when I run BlackBox,BlackBox still gives me a message that
says "No serial ports found!"
Can any one help me out, thanks in advance ?

I had success on winXP when I installed to the JRE below Program Files/java, no success when installed to c:\j2sdk etc etc.
The directions for setting the classpath seem bogus; I did not need to specify a class path. Simply went to the commapi/samples/BlackBox folder, then typed java BlackBox. It found a couple of ports. I think this means that (despite the post in the forum to the contrary) that the comm API can deal with the NT hardware abstraction layer (HAL) just fine.

Someone told me just to remove the chip in clicking it to the trash can and voilá - it would be done. But as I did so, on the screen appeared a text which let me know, that that way had been the wrong one...
I should have clicked Finder plus something.... which I do not now remember but which was then not found behind the Finder.
So please would someone be so kind and tell me, where I can find explanations for the most simple functions. The manual I got does not include a clue.

First make sure that no application is using or has open any files on the disk. Then:
Click and drag the disk icon on the desktop to the trash. Wait for the system to recognize the action, and the icon should disappear from the desktop. It is then safe to remove the device.
Alternatively, you can secondary click on the disk icon, and then primary click "Eject (name of disk)". Wait for the icon to disappear off the desktop, and then it is safe to remove the drive.

I have an issue configuring a simple File Adapter Content Conversion, it will be great to give me some support as I'am new in the PO Environment.

After running the configuration Iam getting following error message

My System is the SAP Netweaver Process Intgration 7.4 single Java stack

Is it possible that the receiver is overwritten due to the Content Conversion? Because if I set my Message Protocol to "File" the receiver determination will work.

I just did a search of the palette and thats where it took me so thats what i posted to help the OP. Besides, sometimes the scenic route is nice. You pass lots of beautiful VIs on the way to your destination that you may have never known existed. And, I actually prefer the quick drop way .

Hello,
I'm trying to install the integration component to SAP B1 8.8 PL 14, and halfway through it's giving me the following error,
"Could not find DI API version 8.8 PL 17 or higher"
I was wondering, how do I find the Patch Level 17 for the DI API?
PS. I tried doing what it says in the installation guide, but it didn't help update me to the required version --> "To install the latest di api version, in the select components window of the sap b1 di api installshield wizard, deselect the di api previous versions checkbox"

I installed patch level SAP B1 PL18, and was able to get the version of DI API they were requesting. Now, when I'm in step 3/5 of the event sender, I get the following error when I click "test connection":
"Servlet B1iXcellerator is not available"
how do I go about correcting this?

Airport Utility can not find air port extreme base station

I am running XP home on my computer and have an air port extreme base station connected to it wired. I have no problem connecting to the internet yet more times then not the air port utility can not find the base station. On occasion it will find it but most of the time it can not. Rebooting does not help.

I recently purchased one of the new Airport Extreme base stations and after carefully reading the instructions; I first installed the Airport Utility 5.5 that came on the CD onto my MacbookPro. I then connected the new base station to my macbookpro via Ethernet and power it up. I copied a previously saved configuration onto it. All my printers, IMAC and macbookpro were able to connect.
I then used my older base station and my airport express to extend the N and G networks through the house. My problem was (1) the new Airport utility would consistently lose the older extreme base station and the airport express, (2) An my HP printers keep losing the wireless connection to the new airport extreme base station. The only resolve was to consistently restart the new base station, after which (1) the new airport utility would see the older base station and express again and (2) the wireless connection to the printers would be restored.
After about a week of this, I removed the new Airport Extreme and replaced it with the older extreme (802.11N DRAFT) and de-installed the Airport Utility 5.5 and re-installed Airport Utility 5.4.2 and everything works fine.
Has anyone else experienced any problems with the newly released Airport Extreme (fully 802.11N) base stations and Airport Utility 5.5?

W7 PCs on router LAN port can not find Wireless connected OJ Pro 8500A Plus following router upgrade

My Broadband Supplier has replaced my internet router with a new one with dual N band Wireless and GigE LAN ports. The 8500A printer has been successfully WPA wirelessly connected and works fine with a wireless connected Sony windows 7 laptop and Apple devices. However neither of the Dell LAN connected windows 7 desktop PCs or the same Sony laptop when connected to a LAN port on the router can find the printer. I have tried reinstalling the printer software with the latest version from the HP site OJ8500_A910_1315 and the installation fails as network environment checker can not find the printer. I have run the HP network diagnostics with both firewalls in the PC and router disabled with no success. The LAN itself seems to be working OK as the PCs can see each other, exchange files and and can access the internet. The router has been checked by the broadband supplier technical uupport. The printer is visible as a network connected device in Windows explorer so you would expect the HP software to see it. Is the only option to fix the printers IP address and use that in the installion procedure or are there other settings I can alter to get the HP network environment checker to work properly? Thoughts would be appreciated.

In the router settings look for "wireless isolation", "AP isolation" or the like and make sure it is DISABLED. This setting disables communication between the wired and wireless clients.

Do you have the Firefox new tab page but the actual sites are missing, or do you have some other page?
If you have some different page, try the quick fix in Fred McD's reply.
If the sites are missing, did you use the Reset feature? That will clear the storage associated with the new tab page. I'm not sure it's possible to recover from that; you probably need to rebuild your page from scratch as you browse.
For possible future reference, here is how to access the hidden setting for the page to display on new tabs:
(1) In a new tab, type or paste '''about:config''' in the address bar and press Enter. Click the button promising to be careful.
(2) In the search box above the list, type or paste '''newtab''' and pause while the list is filtered
(3) Double-click the '''browser.newtab.url''' preference and enter your preferred page:
* ''Page thumbnails (default)'' => about:newtab
* ''Blank tab'' => about:blank
* ''Built-in Firefox home page'' => about:home
* ''Any other page'' => full URL to the page
Press Ctrl+t to open a new tab and verify that it worked. Fixed?

Including a DLL in JAR file (Comm API)

Writing a little app that interfaces with serial port device using the communications API and I'd like to bundle it into an executable JAR. JBuilder will create the JAR for me fine, but the issue is with the win32com.dll file thats part of the comms API. I need to include this, I don't think its possible to include as part of the executable, but otherwise the DLL needs to be in the windows\system folder. Could I include the dll as part of the JAR archive and then extract it upon runtime? If so how would I go about this?

There is another option. Native libraries need to reside within the java.library.path location. As it turns out, if you, at runtime, grab this property and ADD your own location to it, then set it back in to the System.setProperty() call, it will NOT work. The only way to do it is the -Djava.library.path value that tjmaven suggested.
However, if you read up on how a native library is found, it uses the ClassLoader.loadLibrary() which calls the protected findLibrary() method. You can therefore extend ClassLoader to find a path yourself.
One way is to extend URLClassLoader since it has the protection/security stuff AND the ability to look in .jar files for you. Your custom loader is created by a "launcher" class in your .jar file. First, your luancher uses getClass().getProtectionDomain().getCodeSource().getLocation() to get the absolute location of the .jar file its executing within. From there, you open the jar and look for your native library, extract it using the JAR api to a location of your choosing. Now, you instantiate the custom classloader and using this custom loader instance you load the rest of your classes. The main .jar file contains two classes, the launcher and the custom classloader, and contains the native library if you wish to do it this way. The custom classloader, you specify a URL[] of "classpath" entries. You bundle up the rest of your source in a second .jar file that you pass to the URL[] when creating the custom classloader. It will find all your classes in the 2nd jar no sweat. You can even "reload" these classes on the fly by recreating the custom classloader instance if you so wish to add a sort of "reload" feature.
Now, in your custom classloader, you override the findLibrary() and return the SAME STRING PATH that you used to unjar your native files to. This way, when the JVM asks your custom loader to load the library at some path, you return the right path to find the native files in.
I haven't verified that this works just yet, but I will soon. Primarily, my plugin engine over at www.platonos.org will support the ability to place native libraries in plugins, allowing you to effectively wrap a native library use as a plugin. Not yet working, but we'll soon have it in place.
