Command-Click Channel Icon Selects inverse in CMYK/RGB channels?

Photoshop CS4, Mac, PPC OS 10.5.8.
When i command+click on a channel icon to select the contents of a channel in CMYK or RGB mode, it selects the white/highlights instead of the shadow/content of the channel. The opposite is true when I command+click on spot color channels.
I'd like to be able to command+click, say, on the cyan channel and have my selection be the contents of the cyan channel rather than the white/absence of cyan. What am I missing? I know I can command+click, then select inverse, but why is the behavior different between CMYK and spot channels, and is there any way to change the behavior?

Not just looking at the marquee. If I copy the contents of the selection to another channel it is definitely the inverse of the channel that I've command+clicked. Not having any actual problems selecting with the usual selection tools.

  • Firefox will not run - double click on icon, select icon and run/open, opening via start menu are all dead

Problem started yesterday (9/28). While in Firefox, bookmarks stopped working. Closed out FF and tried to reopen the program, and nothing causes FF to launch. Tried double clicking on the desktop icon, single click on the bottom status bar (on XP), right click on icon to open or run, trying via Start -> All Programs -> Mozilla and neither regular or safe mode would launch. Only thing that seems to fix the problem is a full restart of the computer. Tried downloading the newest version via Chrome. When I clicked to run the install, kept getting a message to close all FF windows, even though there were no FF windows open.

  • Can't select multiple objects in Pages 10 with "command+click".

I've always been able to "command+click" to select multiple objects in Pages. However, since I updated to Pages 10, this shortcut does not work. Any thoughts?

Apple is trying to make the iOS version and Mac versions match. Some incredibly stupid or lazy developers/designers took the iOS version as the standard and changed the OSX version to match. The stupidity in this is that iOS is not a good platform for work in the first place, it's incredibly cludgy to edit/write documents on the ipad, email maybe but editing real documents is a pain is the wazoo. The iPad is ok for watching videos, reading, browsing, but not for efficient work. Being able to select multiple items and work on them is a basic feature of most editors and has been for years. Microsoft Office for OSX is so much better that it will be difficult for Apple can catch up even if they wanted to. It's too bad for Apple makes prettier apps. And now MS Word for the iPad is available and free.

  • Command-clicking a layer does not select it in the Layer panel

In earler version of PS, command clicking a layer in the artboard would select the layer in the layer pallet so it could be manipulated. This does not seem to be the case in CS6 (I'm getting the highest level group selected)

Command key brings up the move tool. And you have different settings for auto-select in CS6 than in your previous version.
Go check the settings for the move tool.

  • Photoshop CS6 [ Command + Click ] Layer Selection "Problem" Solved

    Good afternoon fellas,
I've recently noticed something uncommon when working with Photoshop CS6 under Mac OS X 10.8.x.
When I naturally tried to select a Layer by the [ Command + Click ] (let's say) shortcut, it failed. This little thing was driving me nuts, and I know it must be getting some people hairless, too.
Anyway(s), by looking another read-only thread, I noticed the problem has not been solved and some pretty lame recommendations were given. By try, I finally found the solution and was able to fix this little annoyance that maybe we've all been through. So here it goes the workaround, so maybe you'll never consider downgrading to 5.5 again like I was considering:
    1) In Photoshop, make sure the Move Tool is selected by pressing "V";
    2) In the tool's submenu, forget about selecting/marking "Auto-Select". I know it sounds nonsense, trust me;
    3) Although, make sure "Layer" is selected right next to the "Auto-Select" button, and you should be done as I am.
Hope this can help a few people! I would be very happy to know, since I just created this account to help you guys out.
I don't know if this issue has been solved and posted already, I'm sorry. I just want to make sure we'll be all happy!
    Cheers,
    "Let it go, Jack."

Did you actually took a look into Photoshop CS 6 before posting?
Been using Photoshop since legacy 6.0.
This was one feature that started off without being able to enable/ disable 'auto-select' sometime in 2003-2004 releases which was later appended to newer versions of Photoshop.
I see your screenshot and I'm aware there is a 'tick' mark that appears next to Layer or Group when you choose either of them.
But, without enabling 'auto-select', the selection you make in that dropdown will not have any effect.
    Try it for yourself.
    Create a new document
Create any layer (rectangle, ellipse, whatever)
Once created, deselect all layers (layers panel should not highlight any layer)
Disable auto select. Choose 'Layer' from dropdown. Single click on the layer you just created. See what Photoshop says
Now enable auto select. Choose 'Layer' from dropdown. SIngle click on the layer you just created. See what happens in Photoshop (Layers Panel)
Cause I really wouldn't waste my time posting something wrong.
I didn't say you posted something wrong. Neither would I be 'wasting' my time in responding to a post that I feel is incorrect. End of the day, this is a community and we're here to help each other and at no time should other fellow members be deceived by incorrect information.

  • Command+click and drag to select multiple files

    Hi everyone,
I switched about a year ago and recently joined this group. I love OS X and will never go back to windoze, however after recently upgrading to Tiger, I went to command+click and drag to select multiple files in order to drag them to the trash, all I succeeded in doing was to drop one file into the next folder down. Did I miss a check box somewhere, or something. It feels like windoze now, having to command+click individual files to select more than one, or use the edit menu to "select all".
I'm not going back to Panther just to get back this feature I miss, and was hoping there is a way to get it to work in Tiger, any suggestions?

You might find this easy to do in column view:
    1. Select a group of contiguous files by clicking on the first, then hold down the shift key and click on the last one you want, all files between first and last will be selected.
    2. To add an odd file here and there to the group hold down the command key and click on the file.
Thus you can quickly select an entire group in the middle with click/shift click, then add additional files individually to the selected group.

  • Selecting items in Downloads window broken (no drag, no command-click)

I don't think this can be an isolated situation, since it is happening on several Macs I own on both 10.4 and 10.5. If there are multiple items in my Downloads window, I can't do any of the following:
    * Drag through several items to select them (for clearing)
    * Command-click several items to select them (discontiguous selecting)
I haven't seen this reported before, so is this a "feature enhancement" or a bug?

    Anyone?

  • Firefox will not load up when i click the icon on my desktop, but still the same problem, i have checked and its loaded in the task manager and just wont load up, any help on this matter is strongly welcomed thank you mark

    Hi,
    a) I don't have DMG either in applications but I have '''Document''' instead.
So '''set "Document" to Always Ask '''going to Firefox>Preferences>Applications
Now it will always ask if you want to Open or Save the file.
    b) If already downloaded, check what's under Get Info > Open with
It should say Open With DiskImageMounter (see pic)
    https://support.cdn.mozilla.net/media/uploads/images/2014-07-24-03-56-33-60e1a9.png
If not, select it. It's in Home>System>Library>CoreServices.
    See if it helps.

  • Clicking JPEG icon launches Photoshop but doesn't open file

I run an IMAC Power PC G5 with Tiger 4.11 and recently did a system "archive and install". My JPEG files can only be opened within PhotoshopCS with Command+O. Double clicking an icon from the finder launches Photoshop but does not open the file. Neither does dragging icon on to application icon in the dock.
I ran the disk utility to verify and repair preferences and repair disk.
I reset "Launch Services". Then, I trashed "Adobe Photoshop CS Settings" and relaunched the program -- no change.
Other files (ai, pdf, etc.) open fine. I'm only having trouble with PhotoshopCS.

  • Sometimes when I click the icon, it won't start and other times it will.

I click the icon in the bottom left (once) but Mozilla never comes up. I right click and select open on the icon in the left of the desktop, but Mozilla doesn't open. I go to "programs" [on windows 7], select Mozilla, but it doesn't open.
This doesn't happen all the time. Often if I have the problem, it loads fine if I restarts. Sometimes restart results in "a start over" where there is just the basic Mozilla with no past bookmarks, so I have to go to restore system on Windows 7 and it works fine after I restore 1-3 times, then we start all over again.

Hopefully this support article is what you need:
    https://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Firefox+will+not+start
In any case, it's possible that you are having a problem with some Firefox add-on that is hindering your Firefox's normal behavior. Have you tried disabling all add-ons (just to check), to see if Firefox goes back to normal?
Whenever you have a problem with Firefox, whatever it is, you should make sure it's not caused by one (or more than one) of your installed add-ons, be it an extension, a theme or a plugin. To do that easily and cleanly, run Firefox in [http://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Safe+Mode safe mode] (don't forget to select ''Disable all add-ons'' when you start safe mode). If the problem disappears, you know it's from an add-on. Disable them all in normal mode, and enable them one at a time until you find the source of the problem. See [http://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Troubleshooting+extensions+and+themes this article] for information about troubleshooting extensions and themes and [https://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Troubleshooting+plugins this one] for plugins.
If you need support for one of your add-ons, you'll have to contact its author.
If the problem does not disappear when all add-ons are disabled, please tell me, so we can work from there. Please have no fear of following my instructions to the line, as all can be easily undone.

  • Why does double-click no longer select a whole word?

I am on the beta update channel and currently using FF 8.0, latest update as of the moment of this posting.
I am not sure when it happened - I think since I started using 8.0 - but double-click no longer selects a whole word. It's the same effect as a single click - simply positions the insertion point where the mouse cursor is located.
This is very aggravating. I thought it may be a bug in the new version (I already posted it to Bugzilla, but hasn't been confirmed yet), Unfortunately, I don't have the old version to cross-check (can I install both versions on one machine?)
Or is it some configuration issue? Or conflict with something else? I've searched and not (yet) found any other complaints about this issue from other users.
Note that I do not have the problem in any other app nor in other browsers that I have installed (e.g., IE, Chrome, Opera, Safari). In all of those, double-click on a word selects the whole word.
Thanks in advance for any suggestions or guidance.
    Best,
    Yosh

OK - I found the culprit. It seems that the Answers.com '''1-Click Answers''' utility had changed its behavior. In its Options on the Activation tab is an option to activate it when using double-click in a browser. I don't remember turning it on, but it ''was'' on. When I turned that option off, the problem went away. Apparently it is not compatible with FF8, since double-click was apparently intercepted, but 1-Click Answers was not activated - the double-click simply became a no-op.
Now that I've turned off that option, double-click in FF8 is back to the way it's supposed to work for quickly selecting a whole word or sentence.
If anyone else encounters this problem, I hope this information will help to resolve it.

  • Possible minor bug when selecting inverse with OpenGL enabled

When I make a selection (like a rectangle selection in the middle of the canvas) and then inverse it (Shift-Command-I), the marching ants only appear on the right and bottom of the canvas. This seems to occur only with OpenGL enabled. I haven't noticed any part of the layer missing or being affected by this when I cut/copy. Has anyone else noticed this?
Command-A or manually selecting the whole canvas results in marching ants on all sides.
    Mac OS 10.5.6
    CS4 11.0.1
    2 GB RAM
    256 MB VRAM

Thanks, hiding/revealing doesn't seem to change it, but changing the screen mode definitely does. It only seems to be a problem with a floating window (meaning that if I start with the floating window and hit F three times, it doesn't "refresh" to display the missing ants).

  • Command click not working

Recently, I have been unable to use multiple selection in many aspects of OS X (Finder/Mail) unless I click and drag. Holding the command key along with a mouse click used to select or deselect files etc., but no longer.
    What have I done?

Fixed this by unplugging & reconnecting the USB keyboard! Weird.
