Command to find Linux box - RAM utilisation

Is there a command to find the total memory utilised by all the processes in the Linux server?
Unix Command to check RAM used by one Oracle instance.
- BMP

Unix command such as ps may add the shared memory segment size used by the SGA to each dedicated server process.
$ ipcs -mob will give all size of shared memory segments and this includes all SGA size for each instance running on your box.
To get PGA, you will need to use a SQL statement:
select * from v$pgastat;

  • Issuing commands from a Linux box

I need to let a Linux box send simple commands to a Windows Server host.
I am considering PowerShell Web Access but it looks complex, while the commands I need to send are quite simple (1-5 command lines).
What is the simplest way to allow a Linux box send commands to a Windows Server?
Consider that both the Linux box and the Windows Server are in the same LAN, so security is an issue but access from the web is not required.

  • How can I resolve slow browsing in finder when connected to a share point on a linux box?

    Hi,
I am having huge difficulties when browsing a share point that is on a Linux box. I am connecting to it with a Macbook Pro running Lion 10.7.5.
Initially there was an SMB share point setup on the server which was extremely slow to browse. I then setup an AFP sharepoint thinking that would help with the issue but it hasn't made a difference at all. The issue is that files take forever to load when browsing using Finder. Moving between folders on the sharepoint takes extremely long since files are slow to load.
There are very few options available on line to help with this and so far none of them have worked. I think the problem is with Finder and the way it indexes the files but I could be wrong.
    Please help!

Hey Brenda, this isn't 'Safari' I believe this is your Modem/Router to solve this issue please look on the bottom/side of your internet box, and find the codes. But I also believe, when starting up your modem/ Internet box when you first actually received it you had to sign up, this is the only way in order for you to receive this message. Please contact your Internet providers.
    Try Uninstalling Safari!
Have you tried to press cancel to see if that helps?
See if this happens on any other browser

Boxes, Lines, Shading: BOX, POSITION, SIZE
Use the BOX, POSITION, and SIZE commands for drawing boxes, lines, and shading to print particular windows within a form or passages of text within a window in a frame or with shading.
The SAP printer drivers that are based on page-oriented printers (the HP LaserJet driver HPL2, the Postscript driver POST, the Kyocera Prescribe driver PRES) employ these commands when printing. Line printers and page-oriented printers not supported in the standard ignore these commands. You can view the resulting printer output in the SAPscript print preview.
    Syntax:
/: BOX [XPOS] [YPOS] [WIDTH] [HEIGHT] [FRAME] [INTENSITY]
/: POSITION [XORIGIN] [YORIGIN] [WINDOW] [PAGE]
/: SIZE [WIDTH] [HEIGHT] [WINDOW] [PAGE]
    BOX Command
    Syntax
/: BOX [XPOS] [YPOS] [WIDTH] [HEIGHT] [FRAME] [INTENSITY]
Effect: draws a box of the specified size at the specified position.
Parameters: For each of XPOS, YPOS, WIDTH, HEIGHT, and FRAME, you must specify both a measurement and a unit of measurement. Specify the INTENSITY parameter as a percentage between 0 and 100.
    XPOS, YPOS
Upper left corner of the box, relative to the values of the POSITION command.
Default: Values specified in the POSITION command.
The following calculation is performed internally to determine the absolute output position of a box on the page:
    X(abs) = XORIGIN + XPOS
    Y(abs) = YORIGIN + YPOS
    WIDTH
Width of the box. Default: WIDTH value of the SIZE command.
    HEIGHT
Height of the box. Default: HEIGHT value of the SIZE command.
    FRAME
    Thickness of frame.
    Default: 0 (no frame).
    INTENSITY
Grayscale of box contents as %.
    Default: 100 (full black)
Measurements: You must specify decimal numbers as literal values (like ABAP numeric constants) by enclosing them in inverted commas. Use the period as the decimal point character. See also the examples listed below.
Units of measurement: The following units of measurement may be used:
    TW (twip)
    PT (point)
    IN (inch)
    MM (millimeter)
    CM (centimeter)
    LN (line)
    CH (character).
    The following conversion factors apply:
    1 TW = 1/20 PT
    1 PT = 1/72 IN
    1 IN = 2.54 CM
    1 CM = 10 MM
1 CH = height of a character relative to the CPI specification in the form header
1 LN = height of a line relative to the LPI specification in the form header
    /: BOX FRAME 10 TW
Draws a frame around the current window with a frame thickness of 10 TW (= 0.5 PT).
    /: BOX INTENSITY 10
Fills the window background with shading having a gray scale of 10 %.
/: BOX HEIGHT 0 TW FRAME 10 TW
Draws a horizontal line across the complete top edge of the window.
/: BOX WIDTH 0 TW FRAME 10 TW
Draws a vertical line along the complete height of the left hand edge of the window.
/: BOX WIDTH '17.5' CM HEIGHT 1 CM FRAME 10 TW INTENSITY 15
/: BOX WIDTH '17.5' CM HEIGHT '13.5' CM FRAME 10 TW
/: BOX XPOS '10.0' CM WIDTH 0 TW HEIGHT '13.5' CM FRAME 10 TW
/: BOX XPOS '13.5' CM WIDTH 0 TW HEIGHT '13.5' CM FRAME 10 TW
Draws two rectangles and two lines to construct a table of three columns with a highlighted heading section.
    POSITION Command
    Syntax
/: POSITION [XORIGIN] [YORIGIN] [WINDOW] [PAGE]
Effect: Sets the origin for the coordinate system used by the XPOS and YPOS parameters of the BOX command. When a window is first started, the POSITION value is set to refer to the upper left corner of the window (default setting).
Parameters: If a parameter value does not have a leading sign, then its value is interpreted as an absolute value, in other words, as a value that specifies an offset from the upper left corner of the output page. If a parameter value is specified with a leading sign, then the new value of the parameter is calculated relative to the old value. If one of the parameter specifications is missing, then no change is made to this parameter.
    XORIGIN, YORIGIN
    Origin of the coordinate system.
    WINDOW
Sets the values for the left and upper edges to match those of the current window (default setting).
    PAGE
Sets the values for the left and upper edges to match those of the current output page (XORIGIN = 0 cm, YORIGIN = 0 cm).
    /: POSITION WINDOW
Sets the origin for the coordinate system to the upper left corner of the window.
/: POSITION XORIGIN 2 CM YORIGIN '2.5 CM'
Sets the origin for the coordinate system to a point 2 cm from the left edge and 2.5 cm from the upper edge of the output page.
/: POSITION XORIGIN '-1.5' CM YORIGIN -1 CM
Shifts the origin for the coordinates 1.5 cm to the left and 1 cm up.
    SIZE Command
    Syntax
/: SIZE [WIDTH] [HEIGHT] [WINDOW] [PAGE]
Effect: Sets the values of the WIDTH and HEIGHT parameters used in the BOX command. When a window is first started, the SIZE value is set to the same values as the window itself (default setting).
Parameters: If one of the parameter specifications is missing, then no change is made to the current value of this parameter. If a parameter value does not have a leading sign, then its value is interpreted as an absolute value. If a parameter value is specified with a leading sign, then the new value of the parameter is calculated relative to the old value.
    WIDTH, HEIGHT
Dimensions of the rectangle or line.
    WINDOW
Sets the values for the width and height to the values of the current window (default setting).
    PAGE
Sets the values for the width and height to the values of the current output page.
    /: SIZE WINDOW
Sets WIDTH and HEIGHT to the current window dimensions.
/: SIZE WIDTH '3.5' CM HEIGHT '7.6' CM
Sets WIDTH to 3.5 cm and HEIGHT to 7.6 cm.
    /: POSITION WINDOW
/: POSITION XORIGIN -20 TW YORIGIN -20 TW
/: SIZE WIDTH +40 TW HEIGHT +40 TW
    /: BOX FRAME 10 TW
A frame is added to the current window. The edges of the frame extend beyond the edges of the window itself, so as to avoid obscuring the leading and trailing text characters.

  • Is there a way to install 10G on a Linux box with less than 1G of Ram?

    Hi All,
This maybe a stupid question, but I'm going to ask anyway.
I've got a Linux box with 256 Ram running CentOS. I can up it to 512, but playing with the 10G R2 Enterprise install, it complains about it not having 1G of ram needed for install. So is 1G the minium ram for Oracle 10G R2 or is there a way to install it on a box with less ram? This is not a production environment, I'm just learning and testing.
Also, what is the min ram requirements for the Express version?
    Thanks,
    Mike

    Hi,
I have tryed to install Agent10g on a linux box abd tryed to connect it to the OMS running on Windows XP. I choose the installation option agentDeploy option by running agentDownload.linux it worked fine by downloading all the files and used the silent installation option to install the Agent by running the command

the above command executed fine and asked me to run root.sh file as "root" I did that and installation was successful, but I could not find anything in /uo1/app/oracle/product/ folder as I supposed to see instead i see a new OracleHomes folder in /scratch/OracleHomes/agent10g. I could not find any reason for this is there anything worng with my installation and if the installation was fine how can start the agent on Linux.

  • How to see forms in the linux box directly in R12?

    Hi all,
I'm able to see the forms directly in my linux box in 11.5.10.2 but not in R12.
    Can anybody help?
The following are the steps to see the forms in 11.5.10.2:
    a) Change the $COMMON_TOP/html/bin/appsweb_VIS_localhost.cfg in the following lines:
         jinit_mime_type=application/x-java-applet;version=1.4.2
         plugin=jdk
         sun_plugin_mimetype=application/x-java-applet;version=1.4.2
         sun_plugin_version=1.4.2
    b) With root (we needed a jdk 1.4.2)
         ln -s /usr/java/j2re1.4.2_09/plugin/i386/ns610-gcc32/libjavaplugin-oji.so /usr/lib/mozilla/plugins/libjavaplugin_oji.so
Where is the equivalent of the file $COMMON_TOP/html/bin/appsweb_VIS_localhost.cfg?
I've found (with the find command) 2 files with the name appsweb.cfg, but none with the appsweb_VIS_localhost.cfg name.
    Thanks

Complete Online Update Configuration and all Online Updates before starting. There is good Oracle on Suse documentation links on www.suse.com/oracle.
Suse 10.2 ships with sun-plugin 1.5.0 and updates take it to 1.5.0_10, but you have to download the openmotif-21libs from 10.1 repository. On Suse 10.1, you have to manually select java 1.5 and the 1.5 sun-plugin during installation, then update it to 1.5.0_10.

  • How to set and static ip_address for a Suse Linux box

    Hi.
I've done the following to set an static ip address for my Suse 9 Linux box:
    - Take not of inet address value from ifconfig command. ie: (172.17.2.14)
    - Change this value in /etc/hosts for my linux box.
Since Suse is configure by default to use DHCP for assigning dinamic ip_addresses i'm not sure whether will lastly be set as a static address. I've rebooted my box and it seems to be OK.
    Thanks in advance ...!

/etc/hosts is not configuration file for ethernet interfaces.
Configuration files for ethernet interfaces are stored in /etc/sysconfig/network directory.
For example if you have eth0 device then configuretion for this device is stored in /etc/sysconfig/network/ifcfg-eth0 file.
    Important directives:
    DEVICE - interface (eth0)
IPADDR - IP address of interface
    NETMASK - netmask
BOOTPROTO - "static" for static configuration, dhcp for dynamic configuration via dhcp
ONBOOT - activating interface during boot (yes/no) (yes - of course :-) )
    GATEWAY - default gateway
So for example you want setup static IP (192.168.10.1 / 255.255.225.0) for eth0 interface.
Edit the /etc/sysconfig/network/ifcfg-eth0 file and your configuration should be:
    DEVICE=eth0
    IPADDR=192.168.10.1
    NETMASK=255.255.255.0
    BOOTPROTO=static
ONBOOT=yesThen you simply restart the nework using:
    /etc/init.d/network restartOR
    /sbin/ifdown eth0
    /sbinf/ifup eth0 OR
    ifconfig eth0 down
    ifconfig eth0 up

I've checked the configuration and there is nothing wrong with it, plus I have checked connectivity from the weblogic server and the Linux server to this. Also I do not have Enterprise edition everything I do is at console level in Linux.
Please help. I've been trying to sort through this for a long time.
    Thanks.

    Becky,
You need not do any thing additional to have EM running in the OBI 11g instance. Although it is a deployed JEE application, if your Weblogic Server (WLS) is started and up and running then your EM Console should also be up and running.
You say that you are doing everything from the command line. So, start the Weblogic Server then navigate to http://< your server name> : 7001/console
If that comes up then go to
    http://<your server name>:7001/em
That is your EM Fusion Console and it should come up as well.
Don't mess with the XML file directly.

Please help me how to solve this issue.

I suggest trying to install a different version to confirm the error. Do you have SELinux enabled? It can cause weird errors. You can check the syslog /var/adm/messages to see if there were any SELinux errors.
The following is known to work:
    Oracle Linux with jrockit
    Oracle Linux with jrockit

    Hi All,
I would like to know if it is suggested to install 32 bit oracle software on a 64 bit Linux box.
Details of our new DB box below:

Oracle : Oracle server Enterprise Edition 9.2.0.8
We need this setup to match the other two 32bit linux DB server boxes so that we can use DB cloning and Transportable Tablespace feautres between these three linux machines.
Thanks in advance for your help.
PS: I did raise a request to support and waiting for the update.
    Thanks,
    Krishna Bussu

Thanks Girish. But all my findings says NO NO and NO.
    From http://www.oracle.com/technology/support/metalink/index.html
Certify - Product Version and Other Selections: Oracle Database - Enterprise Edition On Linux x86-64 (AMD64/EM64T)
General Notes For Oracle Database - Enterprise Edition On Linux x86-64 (AMD64/EM64T):
    Processor Chip Information:
Linux x86-64, support on AMD64/EM64T and Intel Processor Chips that adhere to the x86-64 architecture with supported Linux releases.
    "Running Oracle 32-bit on AMD64/EM64T (64-bit OS) is not supported . "
Oracle 32-bit running on AMD64/EM64T with a 32-bit OS is supported, refer to platform Linux x86 for more information on product availability.
Note: As Ivan confirmed EM64T is mark for Intel 64 (x86-64) processors.
Even the metalink Note: 182999.1 says...
    "A 32-bit application will work on both a 32-bit and 64-bit O/S, whereas a 64-bit application will only work on a 64-bit O/S."
    but the same articel says
"Note: These statements do not necessarily apply to Oracle on Windows O/S's, Itanium or AMD64/EM64T based Platforms. See Certify for specific information."
and then I got update from Support. Even they Say....
"No it is not suggested that you run Oracle at 32 bits for a Linux X86_64 platform. This would not be a good idea"
I guess I need to sit with my senior DBAs and SA tomorrow to find the path forward...
    Thanks all.

  • Uable to read imagfile with speacial character in its NAME;from a linux box

Hi, i am facing a problem in reading a image file( file name having special character {Gstehaus}) from Linux file system.[FileNotFoundException]
I compiled my code in windows machine and run the same in Linux box.
The same file, i am able to read from a windows file system.
I think there is no problem with Linux box encoding/decoding as the file name displaying as-is.
I am expecting the problem in encoding/decoding between Java and Linux box.
Help me in solving this issue.

Hi Corlettk, thanks for your immediate reply. The actual problem is with special characters [some Greek and Spanish accent characters ].
Please find some file names example below:
    Gstehaus 1__154714_1157620584197.jpg
    Gstehaus 2__154714_1157619047514.jpg

  • Default seetings for a (command-f) find?

    Hello,
First off, I'm new with Tiger so I suppose my first question would be is doing a command-f (find) the same as using spotlight?
That being said, the search option box that opens when you do a (command-f) find—is it possible to set default search locations (ie. i'd like it to also check a network drive as well by default)?
    Thanks,
    Kristin.

First, yes command-F now uses Spotlight.
Second, there is no good way to change the default find yet. There was a long opinion piece on MacWorld recently (http://www.macworld.com/news/2005/11/15/spotlightanlaysis/) that details the rough edges of Spotlight as it is currently implemented which you might find interesting.
In any case, the closest you can currently come without a lot of work is using the Smart Folders feature to save a search with the settings you prefer. Then to search those settings again, you can open the Smart Folder and change the search value. (Use the "Others..." tab to select specific volumes for your search, btw.)
