Comments for each layer

I'd like each layer to have a property sheet where I can enter comments.
Presently, for large documents (context: cartography), I tend to write very long layer names to help keep track of colour, content, masks, styles and whatnot. So the names are always a balance of unwieldy and obtuse. It would be great if I could add proper comments, and especially if they could appear as tooltips when I hovered over the layer.
Ideally, the same for styles and for channels.
And for these comments to be assembled automatically, with layer names, in the XMP structure for the document. That way I could search for where I had noted a particular effect, style, or whatever, among lots of documents, without opening any of them.

Hello,
Can you explain it a little bit more, i don't know this option and i am also interessed in.
Regards,
Lionel

  • How do i create an animation with one frame for each layer?

    I have 76 sequential images that i've loaded as layers using bridge, then aligned using photoshop.
    I would now like to create a 76 frame animation with one animation frame for each layer
    (the layers are in sequential order).
    is there an easy way to do this
    or do i have to create 76 frames (can duplicate multiple to speed it up)
    then set layer visibility for each frame?

  • How to add a comment for each caption label present in a document?

    Hello everyone,
    I am trying to write a script to add comments for each caption label for figure and table.
    How can I select a caption and use Comments object for adding a comment?
    I tried using AutoCaptions list for going through all captions present in a document but Comments.Add function is not available with Caption object type.
    When I try adding a comment by selection manually I am able to add. Here is my piece of code.
    For Each objCaption In ActiveDocument.AutoCaptions
    objCaption.Comments.Add Range:=Para.Range, text:="[" & sIdLabel & sCurrentNumber & "]" & vbCrLf ' ID‘}
    ' increment number for next TAG
    sCurrentNumber = Format(Val(sCurrentNumber) + Val(sStepNumber), String(Len(sCurrentNumber), "0"))

    Hello Stefan,
    Thanks for your response.
    I'm trying to add comments for each table and figure present in my document.
    I have earlier tried a script to add comments for each outline level and it works.
    When I tried adding a feature to add comments for each caption in the document, it didn't work.
    Apparently when I try to go through the document by each para, captions are selected as para. So my current script is not able to parse though all the captions.
    Then I went with the other option where I'm trying to use AutoCaption object list to go through each caption. In this Caption object do not have Comment.Add function.

  • Want to create an add-in/webpart that can enable comments for each day in TimeSheet

    Hi,
    Want to create an add-in/webpart that can enable comments for each day in timesheet.
    I need help how can I achieve that programmatically.
    Regards,
    Mehar

    Hi,
    I already developed this kind of customization. The system offered the possibility to clic on a cell (Project Center, or My Task, or Timesheet), to input a value to store in a custom field, or in a database.
    After clicking, a Popup with different textbox, etc...is displayed:  it is possible to put values, comments, or whatever.
    The benefits is that with this method, you don't have to redevelop the complete timesheet grid, which would be really complex.
    Instead of that, you develop a part of javascript code, which displays a popup containing asp.net code. From the aspx page, you can make what you want: modifying the value of an task/assignment customfield for exemple.
    To start, you can search for the Project Server 2010 SDK, Customize Project Center: it would be a good start point.
    In case of big difficulty, ask again here, and we could get in touch to give more explanations.
    Hope it helps,
    Sylvain

  • Is there a way to create separate PDFs for each layer in Indesign?

    I have a multi-layered InDesign file, and I would like to generate a PDF for each of the layers. I was able to create a LAYERED PDF file (one PDF page with layers), which is great, but I also need a multi-page PDF...one PDF page per layer.
    Is there a way to do this? Do I need a script? Or is there a way to extract the separate layers from the layered PDF?
    Any help would be much appreciated. Thank you.

    Check this script:

  • How to add a comment for each row on the output of a report?

    I would like to add a comment (field) for each row on the output of report? This comment should to be saved as well. Is there a way i can do that?
    Regards,
    Ram

    Hi Dimitri,
    through the instead of trigger functionality i am able to update the view. This is view is based on different views which should be linked to a table (as you suggested) in which comments can be stored. Hower this table is empty and how to link this table with the view now? I face the following challenge.
    View consists the following columns, for example
    select name, sex, age from test_view
    name sex age
    John M 20
    Anton M 30
    Willy M 40
    shirley F 38
    sharon F 37
    The report has the following output, for example
    name     sex age
    John     M 20
    Anton     M 30
    Willy M 40
    Shirley F 38
    Sharon F 37
    Now i would like to add comment through a button.
    The report layout looks like
    name sex age
    John M 20 <add comment button>
    After submitting the <add comment button> you can enter text which deals with John
    text='John doesnot like me'
    Finally the report display the comment as well
    name sex age
    John M 20 'John doesnot like me' <update/delete comment button>
    Anton M 30 <add comment button>
    Willy M 40 <add comment button>
    Shirley F 38 <add comment button>
    Sharon F 37 <add comment button>
    After submitting the <update/delete button> you can change or delete the entered text.
    I hope this example clears things up.

  • Scripting a layer style for each layer to make a depth pass from focus stacking information.

    I'm trying to generate a depth pass from rack focus. Basically where I've gotten to right now is importing the rack focus footage each frame from as an individual layer. Then running Auto Blend Layers and letting photoshop do it's magic to mask out each layer's out of focus information. This basically gives me a bunch of layers that tell me exactly where the camera's focus was at each frame in the shot. What I need to do now is Add a color overlay (maybe in the form of a layer style) that starts at 100% black and goes to 100% white stepping through each layer.
    Right now I have this, which is so very far away.
    try {
        var docName = app.activeDocument.name;  // save the app.activeDocument name before duplicate.
        var layerCount = app.documents[docName].layers.length; //figure out how many layers
        var colorStep = 255/layerCount; //figure out how big the step of grey is between each layer.
            for (i = 1; i <= layerCount; i++){
                my_layer = [docName].layer(i);
                my_layer.applyStyle (solidFill) //add the color overly layer style
                //color the overlay using the colorStep information and layer number
    What I want is an end result that looks like this.

    The only focus stacking I have done is with macro photography. Below is a script that adds the layer effects but the results with my macro samples did not turn out looking good. Maybe you will have better luck with the type of photography you are doing.
    function ftn1(r,g,b) {
        var desc = new ActionDescriptor();
            var ref = new ActionReference();
            ref.putProperty( charIDToTypeID('Prpr'), charIDToTypeID('Lefx') );
            ref.putEnumerated( charIDToTypeID('Lyr '), charIDToTypeID('Ordn'), charIDToTypeID('Trgt') );
        desc.putReference( charIDToTypeID('null'), ref );
            var effectsDesc = new ActionDescriptor();

                    var rgbcDesc = new ActionDescriptor();
                    rgbcDesc.putDouble( charIDToTypeID('Rd  '), r );
                    rgbcDesc.putDouble( charIDToTypeID('Grn '), g );
                    rgbcDesc.putDouble( charIDToTypeID('Bl  '), b );
                colorfillDesc.putObject( charIDToTypeID('Clr '), charIDToTypeID('RGBC'), rgbcDesc );
            effectsDesc.putObject( charIDToTypeID('SoFi'), charIDToTypeID('SoFi'), colorfillDesc );
        desc.putObject( charIDToTypeID('T   '), charIDToTypeID('Lefx'), effectsDesc );
        executeAction( charIDToTypeID('setd'), desc, DialogModes.NO );
    try {
        // var docName = app.activeDocument.name;  // save the app.activeDocument name before duplicate.
        // var layerCount = app.documents[docName].layers.length; //figure out how many layers
        var docRef = app.activeDocument;
        var layerCount = docRef.artLayers.length;

  • How to enter comments for each photo?  Preparing photos for auction house sale.

    I have a historical collection of B/W photos preparing for sale to auction houses.  How do I catalog each photo with custom comments?  I have LR 4.4

    You'll have to type that info into that field in the metadata panel.  I'm assuming you want to use the Caption, perhaps Title fields, both fields should be empty for you to enter custom text. If you select all images and enter the text, all images will get the same data. So think about what you want to pop in there and if you can do so all at once or if you'll have to do it image by image.

  • Prompting user for input for each row in the report

    Is it possible to have a user entered field for each row in a report ?
    ie. have a report with empolyee number, employee name, title, salary, and comment. Select of of these columns from the SQL query except for the comment, and then when the report is generated have the user be prompted for what the want the comment to be for every employee in the report?

    That is, have the user generating the report enter in a different comment for EACH employee. (ie Joe Smith's comment is "good worker and John Smith's comment is "come to work late on Tuesdays and Thursdays", Sally Jones' comment is "Expert in C++" etc.) as the reports is being built for each row returned from the query.

  • Adding user review comments to each item

    I am creating my site in Muse and then will be publishing to BC. My website will be have a least 7,000 items on it. I want to be able to have user review comments for EACH item. will I be able to do this using BC? I am guessing every item would have to have it's own page and then a module added to it. I am looking at adding 7,000 modules unless there is a faster way. Thank's in advance all

    Yes. Please have a look at the following article about the comments module http://kb.worldsecuresystems.com/758/bc_758.html
    Also, you can integrate Facebook comments as per http://kb.worldsecuresystems.com/851/cpsid_85118.html

  • Saving each layer into a file?

    Hello everyone,
    I need to take each layer's data and save it into a file. How would I retrieve individual layer's image data?
    Thanks

    The ReadLayerDesc and associated callbacks ARE how you get the color data and opacity for each layer.
    And layers don't have alpha channels - those belong to the document.
    (sounds like you are confusing opacity with alpha channels)

  • Showing text comment for every selection under dropdownbox

    We retrieve key, value data for a dropdown box from a BI query. Based on the selection under drop down box, we want to display a comment next to it. How can this be achieved in VC without making any further calls to BI? Thanks, MD
    Edited by: Maulin Doshi on Dec 2, 2009 1:24 PM

    Hi,
    This is possible if the no.of values for that dropdown are limited.
    one of the ways you can do this is to have text fields  beside the dropdown  where you can have comment for each value in the dropdown and write the visibility condition for each of the text fields based on the value in the dropdown.
    hope this helps,
    Regards,

  • Outputting a file for dual layer dvd

    Hi...is there a setting in Adobe media encoder that automatically caculates your timeline to fit a dual layer DVD?  The MPEG DVD output setting automatically shrinks it to 3 gigs, enough to fit a standard DVD.  I feel the quality of the file would be better if it was larger and burned to a dual layer.
    Thanks

    If you're authoring in Encore, you set the Layer Breaks there.  You can let Encore find them for you automagically, or you can set your own, or render out your own separate timeline for each layer.  Read p.178 of the Encore Help PDF.

  • Break Points for Dual Layer Discs

    I've read and re-read the DVDSP4 manual on break-points. They are giving me the hardest time even still. Is there any way to by-pass the muxing process and not have to wait that long to find out if there is the correct balance of space used for each layer on the disc? IOW, is there a way to automatically check if the layers are right without choosing the "auto break point" option?

    Hi Drew, when you say set a bunch of markers in the general area, what types of markers are you talking about (ie. chapter, button, dual layer break point)? I can only set one "dual layer break point", should i be able to set more than one? I'm working on this dual layer project and it is driving me nuts!

  • New layer for each artboard

    Hi,
    I've just recently started learning Illustrator and have used photoshop for a long time.  I have been getting on OK and yesterday had a file open with about 4 different artboards (was making wedding invitations) and went to start a 5th one and decided to add a new layer to this artboard and it then struck me that all the artboards had exactly the same layer!  Now as a photoshop user this bamboozled me and the photoshop part of me gets annoyed, because I would like every artboard to have a different set of layers so that they are always separate.  Can anyone tell me if I'm just not grasping how illustrator does things or is there a way to set up illustrator to have a new set of layers for every artboard?  Is it just a case that I have to create a new layer for each artboard manually?
    Sorry if this is a basic question, but I've searched for this answer but couldn't find it.
    Cheers in advance.
    Oh and just in case, I'm using CS5 on an iMac.

    and the photoshop part of me gets annoyed
    You need to "turn off" the photoshop part of you when working in Illustrator. Two entirely different worlds, and rightly so.
    because I would like every artboard to have a different set of layers so that they are always separate.
    If that's what you want, there are other programs in Illustrator's category which provide that. Corel Draw X3 is one example. In real use, though, page-specific layers is not the panacea you may think. It has resulted in much tedium and confusion and consternation in the Draw community.
    If you insist on working that way, there's no reason you can't set up your file with top-level Layers coresponding to each Artborad. But you'll probably soon find it more cumbersome and tedious than actually practical.
    Forget trying to think of Illustrator Layers and Photoshop Layers as similar things. They are not. Two entirely different constructs. That's a good thing. They should not be made to "work alike." If anything, Photoshop just needs to change the name from "Layers" to "Films" or "Overlays" or something like that, to help stop this widespread misconception among newcommers.
